California Woman Convicted For Assault On Trump Supporters

Prosecutors said Jessica Aguilar’s jail sentence will be dropped if she completes community service.

I recently wrote about the limited coverage of violence by anti-Trump individuals and groups. A number of such cases are pending in Orange County where Trump supporters were attacked while trying to attend a rally. One conviction was recently handed down again for Jessica Aguilar, 23, of Sacramento. She slapped a man twice across the face during the March 25, 2017 rally at Bolsa Chica State Beach and was found guilty Wednesday of one misdemeanor count of battery. This is clearly a problem on both sides and it is continuing to spread, including 13 arrests in Oregon at the rallies this weekend with the seizure of various weapons.

According to The Orange County District Attorney’s Office, Aguilar was sentenced to 20 days in jail, 10 days of community service, and three years of probation, but that sentence will be vacated if she completed community service.

As previously discussed, groups like Antifah are premised on anti-speech values. It goes beyond that group however. There are other groups and individuals who view their opposition to Trump as a warrant for uncivil and even violent actions like Aguilar.

There is a rising intolerance in this country for opposing views and a selective coverage of those engaging in violence at rallies and speeches.

In this case, 2000 people appeared at the March 2017 rally and anti-Trump protesters tried to prevent the march. Three anti-Trump protesters were charged with felonies, including using pepper spray on Trump supporters.

    1. Does that negate what happened to Andy Ngo? Of course not. Nor does it make their violent and ‘terrorist’ acts all over the country any less bad.

  1. Bianca Turano isn’t 8 years old, Allan.

    https://twitter.com/RVAwonk/status/1162869028962131969

“This is “Based Spartan” (John Turano) and his adult daughter, Bianca Turano. He’s a violent extremist, not a random bystander, and his *adult* daughter is his sidekick.”

“This is John Turano and his daughter, Bianca, the ones Andy Ngo is tweeting about. They’ve been doing this for years. They’re not random bystanders; they’re agitators.”

    https://www.oregonlive.com/news/2019/08/1-hammer-1-antifa-mob-chase-a-closer-look-at-portlands-viral-protest-moments.html

Crowd follows man dressed as Spartan, his companion
Narrative: “A large antifa mob chase & attack a man & a young girl who got separated from the others.”

A closer look: The man is a well-known conservative provocateur, and he was accompanied by his adult daughter.

What does the video show? A large group of counterprotesters encircle two people on Southwest Naito Parkway near the Battleship Oregon Memorial Marine Park. One of them is a man wearing an ancient Greek warrior-style helmet and body armor with “I hate the left n racism” on the back and is holding a shield and a flag with “Trump” written on it. The other appears to be a girl or young woman wearing a bicycle helmet and an American flag-style sweatshirt.

    Andy Ngo

A large antifa mob chase & attack a man & a young girl who got separated from the others. No police. #PortlandProtests

Some counterprotesters appear to throw liquid on the man, who responds by wildly swinging his shield at people near him. The crowd then begins to move in on the man and his female companion, who retreat. The crowd continues to pursue them for more than a minute as they eventually make their way onto the Morrison Bridge and take off.

Who are these two? The man in the warrior costume is John Turano, a right-wing provocateur from Southern California who goes by the name “Based Spartan.” His companion is his adult daughter, Bianca Turano.

The pair has traveled up and down the West Coast over the last two years attending right-wing rallies, including previous ones held in Portland. John Turano achieved minor celebrity in conservative circles for heckling and occasionally brawling with counterprotesters while in character.

“I’m not political, so I’ll unleash on anyone,” he told Vice News last year. “It’s just something that grows within me. And when it explodes, I explode.”

His daughter also spoke with Vice, explaining why she regularly accompanies her father at these demonstrations. “I don’t want him to, like, you know, blow up and do something he might regret,” Bianca Turano said. “Sometimes he gets a little crazy.”

John and Bianca Turano did not return phone calls or Facebook messages from The Oregonian/OregonLive seeking comment.

    1. Transcript:

AMY GOODMAN: Shane, I wanted to ask you about what happened to Andy Ngo in June. He calls himself a conservative journalist; others say he’s a right-wing provocateur. He’s called for antifa to be labeled as terrorists, after saying he was attacked by them when covering one of their demonstrations. This is Ngo speaking to The Wall Street Journal.

ANDY NGO: Antifa are not anti-fascists. Antifa is a paramilitary movement made up of extremist, violent anarchists and communists who are agitating for a political revolution. On the 29th of June, I was documenting one of their demonstrations as a journalist. … As a mob, they swarmed and attacked me, completely unprovoked on my part. They went for my head, my face, my eyes with their fists and their weapons. And this attack happened in front of the Multnomah County Justice Center, where the Sheriff’s Office and the police precinct is, but no police came to help.

AMY GOODMAN: Jacobin called Andy Ngo “the most dangerous grifter in America.” Shane Burley, can you explain who he is and what happened to him?

SHANE BURLEY: Yeah. So, Andy Ngo is essentially an editor for Quillette magazine, a kind of far-right provocateur. Most of his writing credits or appearance credits seem to be around playing up victim narratives about conservatives being under attack, or painting like Islamophobic rhetorics and kind of punching down as much as possible. And so, you know, he had been well known for coming out to these rallies, filming people, often getting uncomfortably close or doing things like filming on sign-in sheets, just things that generally people think are inappropriate and most journalists don’t do.

And so, on June 29th, there was another anti-facist rally, when Patriot Prayer tried to have another one of their events. And Andy Ngo was there and got in a conflict with some anti-fascist demonstrators. Obviously, it’s not a good thing. Journalists shouldn’t be under attack. I think it’s important, though, to ask why it was particularly Andy Ngo. And it’s because, in a lot of ways, violating the very basic precepts of what journalism is and how we deal with the community, and then reframing factual events in a totally strange way — for example, the way that he’s portrayed events that happened on Saturday as being one of essentially mass antifa violence, when that is actually the opposite of the case. And it usually is the opposite of the case, but he’s worked really, really hard to drum up this fear of antifa. It helps give him a lot in donations, after his attack, and it’s really helped build up this right-wing media sphere that builds an entire marketplace simply out of outrage.

AMY GOODMAN: Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty, a popular sentiment online this weekend in response to Trump: No government will declare itself facist, but it will declare anti-facists enemies of the people. How does your city move forward right now?

COMMISSIONER JO ANN HARDESTY: Well, I want to make sure that our city really understands that anybody who stands up against — white supremacists and hate groups who intentionally come to our town to create fear, to attack our community members, will not be acceptable. Antifa is in no way, in my opinion, a hate group. It’s not even an organized — it’s not even a membership organization, right? It is people from all walks of life who stand up to white supremacist and white nationalist activity.

      1. The video’s show the violence by the domestic ‘terrorists’ known as antifa and also known to be friends of anonymous. Andy Ngo is seen being beaten up. The ~8 year old girl is seen running from the Antifa crowd that follows her for a long distance.

A bunch of sickos and their sicko supporters some of whom not only cover their faces but use a generic anonymous name instead of just an anonymous name of their choice.

          1. Anonymous, to you it is “blah, blah, blah…” but to Andy Ngo it is his life as it was for the ~8 year old. I note how you search for dirt on anyone who displeases Antifa but you can’t hunt for anything else. The rest is “blah, blah, blah”. You don’t have the nicest friends.

            1. Who says that there was an “8 year old” involved?

              This isn’t about me, honey.

              1. It is very much about you anonymous and that is seen virtually every time you post. There have been disputes of the girls age but I believe that she is likely an adult and likely the daughter of the man even though she looks very young in some of the pictures. Focus on the attackers. I posted a video of Antifa at Berkley that were angered that Milo was speaking. Freedom of speech is something we should all recognize but that is something your friends do not wish to recognize.

      2. Anonymous – Antifa is saying they have a right to attack whomever they like and they get to pick. Portland did nothing to protect its citizens.

          1. Anonymous – when you see the video, you do not see any cops. So, who did the cops arrest and when? It looks like they are waiting for citizen reports of crimes to go after anybody. I am going to stand by what I said. I will take it back if better information comes in.

          2. You may not understand anonymous, but how does it feel to have Sean Hannity & Fox on your side.

Just like that piece o sh8it did with the Bundy’s at the Battle of Bunkerville, Hannity continues to sell out Americans to the Commie/Fascist American Haters as he turned & Lied to his audience about the Proud Boys in Portland earlier this week.

At this point on, he’s never to be trusted again now that he’s at least twice busted when it mattered.

And you may recall Hannity wasn’t early getting on the Trump Train, that dish washer was way late!

    2. The guy saying they ‘stand up for our people’ wears a mask to cover his face so he can not be recognized. This permits other people to cover their faces while they commit crimes so they are not arrested because so many people look the same. As I said, anonymous, these are your friends. Everyone heas their first amendment rights and a lot of people believe those rights should not be taken away by people who act like domestic ‘terrorists’. The mayor shouldn’t have permitted the violence in the first place. I think Portland will be the scene for further rallies until Antifa stops trying to prevent the freedom of speech of others.

In the meantime, anonymous, you can cheer as your Antifa friends chase ~8 year old girs.

      1. “…as…Antifa…chase ~8 year old girs (sic).”

        Source needed from Allan.

    1. Kurtz, don’t they all look like anonymous with their faces covered. That proves it. They are all friends of anonymous.

      1. Allan loves to stir the pot. Comments (like the one that he posted at 4:02 p.m.) are counterproductive — and ridiculous.

        1. dont attack allan stand up for your loser friends in antifa or keep on scolding us for calling out these lawless anarchist freaks. or condemn. do you condemn these lawless acts of disorder and criminal mischief, “anonymous?”

        2. Ridiculous? We are on a blog where one chooses an anonymous name to distinguish one particiapnt from another. You use the generic name and icon. That is ridiculous but what is expected from a person of your caliber. That is why you get along so well with guys that chase ~8 year old girls while doing so anonymously covering their faces. You don’t want to take any responsibility for your actions.

        3. Anonymous – Allan makes a good point when he compares you to the faceless Antifa.

    2. Trump needs to go ahead & nationalise the the militia in Oregon, Wa, Cali, DC, Baltimore, NYC, Chicago, Houston & likely a few more areas.

  4. Use this name to search twitter for violent videos of Antifa. Anonymous/ Diane doesn’t seem to recognize violence when she sees it.

    Elijah Schaffer S.O.

    @ElijahSchaffer
🚨CONCERNING 🚨 We caught Antifa smuggling concrete slabs within a black case then breaking up the slab & using it to throw at buses carrying right wingers stuck in traffic. This is further evidence of their pre-meditated violence & criminal activity in Portland @realDonaldTrump
    Embedded video

      1. What is the problem anonymous? You didn’t like the pictures on both sides of “CONCERNING” that were copied from the tweet? You didn’t like the violence committed by your friends from Antifa? You didn’t like Antifa folk chasing an ~8 year old girl? Tell us. I think you loved them all.

        1. My ‘friends from Antifa’?? What a ridiculous thing to say.

You sound like some crazy hothead, Allan.

          1. Anonymous, your posting have been excuses for Antifa. Go back and look at some of the earlier postings of yours when Antifa came up. I guess you had to see a video of an ~8 year old for you to grasp that Antifa folk are not nice. Maybe that is making you rethink the fires seen at Berkley and trauma to Ngo. Of course just recently you tried to show the Proud Boys in a bad light but they were fighting with Antifa, your friends. Why was Antifa at the Republican Club entrance? Were they selling Girl Scout Cookies?

            1. You’re all over the place, Allan, and making baseless accusations, again. Try to make a cogent argument.

              1. Baseless accusations? No, all true. In the past I advised you to look in the mirror. Now I have made you look in the mirror and you don’t like what you look like. Instead of changing your pride will keep you pushing the feel good statements of TDS.

                  1. Get with it anonymous. Your own source told us that you believe Andy Ngo put his face between Antifa fists and that he was the cause. That is your logic. Perfect.

        2. Allan @ 8:59 a.m.: “You didn’t like Antifa folk chasing an ~8 year old girl?”

          Source?

          1. I provided links to the act of Anifa folk chasing an ~8 year old girl. I can’t help it if you don’t take advantage of what is provided for you. But, I think that type of act gives you a thrill.

            1. “Anifa folk chasing an ~8 year old girl. ” So says Allan.

You could repost the link/s, Allan, but you won’t. It’s more fun for you to yammer about something that may or may not have happened.

              1. I could repost them anonymous and if you were a decent person I would consider helping you, but I too have to search what was written under my name. You can do that just as easily. I think that video link was posted by me more than once so your odds of finding it are at least double.

Are you telling me that Amy Goodman didn’t let you know about that event?

                  1. Allan – the Anonymous with the Grey and Brown icon are DIFFERENT ppl. I am one of them, and I am the woman on the other article making jokes, but I am not this anonymous.

                    1. As far as I am concerned you are one and the same. Goofballs that have little to offer.

                  1. Anonymous,

How did it come to be that you now find yourself supporting Anti-American terrorist, that are Racist, funded in part by Nazi Collaborator groups, Paedophiles, sex trafficking, eugenicist & an assortment of the worst scum the world has ever known?

I’m not joking azzhole, you’re wearing it from now on.

                    I suggest you repeat.

                    1. One should really be asking anonymous why she is trying to justify what Antifa did? Her focus is on any minor error in reporting while the Antifa ‘terrorists’ are attacking many people even people trying to leave the scene. This is NOT an isolated event.

Once again I will say that anlnymous believes that Ngo was at fault because he put his head between Antifa fists. That is her attitude and that type of attitude is revolting.

                    2. Allan,

Most troubling is that pros that deal with these type nut jobs know that since they now have no argument left to make all they have is violence.

As I understand things P Trump/Ag/JAG has been briefed on this.

IE: Pros public comments “they” were going to attack ICE & CBP.

And “They” Antfa did, fire bombed one building & shot at 2 other buildings that had people working at the time.

I’m not sure but I think that’s all multiple felonies.

Anyway the pros are reminding us in the public that the Nut Jobs, “Anonymous” that shot up San Antonio & another in Austin, that bast*rd, or B*tches, That gun & Scope or Guns & Scopes are still out there & the Pros think they are likely unsatisfied & are coming back until they kill.

That was one of the biggest concerns Portland Or about one of the ring leaders as it appears, Mayor/Police Commish Ted Wheeler, was believed ready to allow a sniper or snipers in to murder members of the Proud Boys.

But P Trump Twitted about the Mayor/Commish & that seemed to have put a lid on it, for now.

It seems now for the rest of us, for some time, On Guard, 24/7 as the Nut Jobs will likely keep becoming more mentally unstable & violent as time goes by.

Maybe doubling them up on the Sodium Fluoride in their Water & Toothpaste will help! LOL;) IE: Latest AMA study

                  2. It appears the young girl that looks really young in some pictures is an older girl age unknown and possibly his daughter. If one looks at the video they are surrounded by Antifa activists.

The balanced summary is that everyone has a right to free speech. No one has a right to tear down public statues. No one has a right to prevent another’s free speech. That is the gig signed up for by Antifa members, violence and the prohibition of of free speech they don’t like. One can view videos all over the country where Antifa has acted like a mob threatening and injuring people.

This is Antifa at Berkley protesting Milo.

  5. Oh, those peace-loving law-abiding Proud Boys, according to some who comment here:

“Two Members of Proud Boys Convicted in Brawl Near Republican Club”

“The charges resulted from an altercation with anti-fascists after the group’s founder, Gavin McInnes, had spoken in Manhattan.”

    https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/19/nyregion/proud-boys-verdict-trial.html

    Excerpt:

Although members of the male-only Proud Boys have battled leftists across the country, the trial in Manhattan appeared to mark the first time people connected to the group had been before a jury in connection to these incidents.

The jury deliberated for a day and a half before delivering its verdict. Mr. Hare was found guilty of attempted gang assault, riot and three counts of attempted assault. Mr. Kinsman was found guilty of attempted gang assault, riot and two counts of attempted assault. The jury also found that Mr. Kinsman’s actions were “justified” with respect to the lowest counts of attempted assault.

Mr. Kinsman was heard saying “wow” in a low voice as the verdict was read. Soon after, he walked into a courtroom hallway, holding a book in front of his face to shield himself from photographers, and declined to comment. Mr. Hare did not respond to a request for comment as he left the courtroom.

“As violent extremism rises in America, a Manhattan jury has declared in one voice that New Yorkers will not tolerate mob violence in our own backyard,” the Manhattan district attorney, Cyrus R. Vance Jr., said in a statement following the verdict.

Mr. Hare and Mr. Kinsman face a maximum sentence of up to 15 years in prison on the top count, attempted gang assault. They are scheduled to be sentenced in October.

      1. basically what happened is the antifa picked a fight, they lost, and the court is punishing the proud boys, because they want to deter normal men from defending themselves against anarchist freaks. well, stupid court, and anarchist freaks of antifa will beware, nonetheless

i dont know much about “proud boys” but I encourage all who successfully defend themselves with reasonable force to be proud of themselves

as I learned in grade school, sometimes you punch out a bully and it’s YOU who gets in trouble. that’s probably the case there too

    1. Yes, they arrested Proud Boys. No one said the Proud Boys were perfect, but the only one’s you have mentioned in several different posts over significant time span included only that incident of violence. Did you look at the arrests in Portland? Did you look at the videos? The strange thing about this case is that the victims didn’t testify and were never even identified. At trial the unidentified victims went by the names,“Spiky Belt,” “Ponytail,” “Shaved Head” and “Khaki”. That gives one a lack of confidence regarding the verdict but I won’t assume the Proud Boys weren’t involved. However, it is strange that the victims can’t be identified and cross examined. I wonder why the VICTIMS didn’t want to be identified? It is thought that Antifa actually brings in people from the outside to create these disturbances and in California a whole slew of mug shots with names were released of some of these Antifa members who were quite upset. The jury may have come to a decision but if one read the accounts one wouldn’t stake their lives or much money on how the fight started.

I understand the law and that the prosecutor has a right to bring the case to trial without a victim, but in this case the so called victims refused to identify themselves. I guess that is why they wear masks and things to hide their identity when they engage in violence. Take note that after the Proud Boys left the area in Portland a large number of people were arrested. Just look at the videos and see Antifa is a “terrorist” group dressed in black while wearing masks. They act like the fascists of WW2.

I wonder if there will be an appeal.

      1. when it “jumps off” I want guys like the proud boys by my side, and the anarchist losers of ANTIFA in front of us, where we can see them. before we take lawful action in self offense. I mean defense. lol

  6. Slap on the wrist . Reminds me of Heinleins writing on how we treat our dogs better than our children.

The families scolded the dog as a puppy and on through it’s formative stages then when it was still cr–ping on the rug pulled out a pistol and shot it.

The families scolded and maybe slapped the hands of their children throughout child hood and when they turned 18 and were still performing criminal acts executed them.

The comment was… from a future society learning about how things used to be and finding it difficult to understand

You get what you ask for. There’s another one who probably still qualifies for government coillege money.

Reza Aslan Calls For Genocide Against Trump Supporters.

    https://humanevents.com/2019/08/06/reza-aslan-calls-genocide-against-trump-supporters/

Reza Aslan is not mincing words when he talks about “eradicating” Trump supporters.

CNN contributor and liberal intellectual Reza Aslan is calling for the “eradication” of Trump supporters. In a series of aggressive tweets directed toward the President and those who voted for him, Aslan remarked – in response to the mass shooting in El Paso – that President Donald Trump “is a white nationalist terror leader.”

Arguing that there was “no longer any room for nuance” – words that are remarkably similar to Dayton shooter Connor Betts’ calls for violence on Twitter – Reza openly called for the genocide of Trump supporters.

In the same series of tweets, Aslan called Kellyanne Conway “”’the depraved evil’” we need to eradicate,” following her remarks that America needed to come together in the wake of the mass shooting. The CNN contributor took her call for the eradication of hate and turned it upon her with a call for the eradication of a group of people – Trump supporters – of which Conway is a part.

Armed with dehumanizing language, Aslan’s call for the “eradication” of the Left’s political opponents and his characterization of Trump supporters as an “evil, racist scourge” is rooted in the language of Holocaust proponents and other architects of 20th-century genocide.
Aslan also slammed Ivanka Trump’s denouncement of white supremacist ideology, referring her and her entirely family as “white supremacist” despite the Jewish heritage of Ivanka’s husband Jared Kushner and their extended family.

Armed with dehumanizing language, Aslan’s call for the “eradication” of the Left’s political opponents and his characterization of Trump supporters as an “evil, racist scourge” is rooted in the language of Holocaust proponents and other architects of 20th-century genocide.

    @rezaaslan
So then when @KellyannePolls said we need to “eradicate” this evil she meant shoot it in the face? She was threatening the El Paso shooter? We are all so fu@@king fed up with you racist GOPers and your bad faith bu!lsh!t.
    Reza Aslan added

    @rezaaslan

After today there is no longer any room for nuance. The President is a white nationalist terror leader. His supporters – ALL OF THEM – are by definition white nationalist terror supporters. The MAGA hat is a KKK hood. And this evil, racist scourge must be eradicated from society.

  8. ANTIFA: DOMESTIC TERRORISM

“These antifa guys were showing up with weapons, shields and bike helmets and just beating the shit out of people…”
    – Law Enforcement Officer

AntiFa is a domestic terror group.

The U.S. Department for Homeland Security has been warning of an emboldened hard-left since at least 2016.

Politico reported the words of senior law enforcement officials in the domestic extremism arena:

“It was in that [2016 election] period that we really became aware of them… These antifa guys were showing up with weapons, shields and bike helmets and just beating the shit out of people… They’re using Molotov cocktails, they’re starting fires, they’re throwing bombs and smashing windows.”

“Everybody is wondering, ‘What are we gonna do? How are we gonna deal with this? Every time they have one of these protests where both sides are bringing guns, there are sphincters tightening in my world. Emotions get high, and fingers get twitchy on the trigger.”

In documents obtained by the San Diego Union Tribune in April, it was revealed AntiFa activists were attempting to purchase weapons from Mexican drug cartels.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said “anti-fascist activists… planned to disrupt U.S. law enforcement and military security operations at the US/Mexican border.”

The FBI’s report says a group of activists in Tijuana supporting the migrant caravan “were encouraged to bring personally owned weapons to the border and the group also intended to purchase weapons from a Mexico-based cartel associate known as Cobra Commander, AKA the Mexican Rambo, and smuggle the weapons into the United States.”

In another FBI report first published by former Newsweek and New York Times Magazine editor Edward Klein, the bureau claimed:

Task force covered G-20 meeting in Hamburg studied intel from local authorities, Interpol and other assets, determined that as assumed U.S. based anarchist/radical groups had traveled to Germany and took part in the violence. There is also evidence of meetings between these individuals and associates of ISIS. There is clearly overwhelming evidence that there are growing ties between U.S. radials and the Islamic State as well as several offshoots and splinter group affiliates.

There is an urgent need to closely surveil the identified individuals.

“One of the men from Oakland traveled to Syria to meet with ISIS, the purpose was for training in tactics…” – FBI Field Report

    The document went on:

Ties between three key leaders of the Oakland group [names redacted] met in Hamburg with a leader of the AQAP [Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula] and the AQIM [Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb]. The leader from AQAP is an Egyptian born male [name redacted] who is known to be in charge of finances and recruiting for the group.

There is evidence from informants that he is helping the Oakland group acquire the weapons they are seeking, primarily bomb making equipment and toxic chemicals and gases.

One of the men from Oakland traveled to Syria to meet with ISIS, the purpose was for training in tactics, but was thought to be primarily a bonding visit to discuss possible massive disruptive attacks on the U.S.

While in Hamburg several of the Oakland based criminals were photographed throwing Molotov cocktails and wielding iron bars, which have been their weapons of choice, though they are almost certainly on the verge of upping the caliber of their weaponry for use in the U.S.

Despite having their faces covered by masks, they were positively identified.

  9. “Seven things you need to know about Antifa”

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/X56rQkDgd0qqB7R68t6t7C/seven-things-you-need-to-know-about-antifa

    Excerpt:

Online battles between far right groups and anti-fascists – or “Antifa” – are now regularly spilling out onto the streets of America. But who are Antifa and what do they represent? Anisa Subedar and Mike Wendling went to the West coast of America to find out for Seriously… podcast Political Violence in America. Here are seven facts you need to know.

    1. How long have Antifa been around?

Some Antifa groups date the origins of their movement to fights against European fascists in the 1920s and 1930s. Mark Bray, author of Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook, says the modern American Antifa movement began in the 1980s with a group called Anti-Racist Action. Its members confronted neo-Nazi skinheads at punk gigs in the American Midwest and elsewhere. By the early 2000s the Antifa movement was mostly dormant – until the rise of Donald Trump and the alt-right.

    2. How do you pronounce Antifa?

According to Bray, there are multiple different pronunciations. In the United States most people say an-tee-fa. In Europe it’s sometimes referred to as anti-far, which Bray believes has been influenced by the Italian word antifascismo. He says an-tee-fa but doesn’t correct people who pronounce it differently.

    3. What are they opposed to?

Neo-Nazis, Neo-fascism, white supremacists and racism, and these days the movement that encapsulates some of those ideas: the alt-right.

We spoke to secret Antifa groups in Oregon. They said they come from a variety of political backgrounds but they were united in their opposition to fascism, and they have an anti-government streak. They said they see creeping authoritarianism in the current American administration that they are looking to build “a movement that really insulates us from the policies of Donald Trump”.

“It’s not just resisting the federal administration but also resisting moves that can lead to fascism,” one member told us, “and those happen locally whether from local officials or from local alt-right movements.”

4 Why do they all dress in black?

Like other protest movements dating back to Cold War era West German anarchists, Antifa supporters will often dress all in black, sometimes covering their faces with masks or helmets so they can’t be identified by opposing groups or the police. It’s an intimidating tactic – known as a “black bloc” – which also allows them to move together as one anonymous group. There are also offshoots – one Antifa group in Oregon said they also have a “snack bloc” of people who provide food and water for their allies during protests.

    5. What tactics do they use?

Antifa look to disrupt alt-right events and far-right speakers. They use a variety of tactics to do this – including shouting and chanting and forming human chains to block off right-wing demonstrators. Some are unapologetic about their online tactics, which include monitoring the far right on social media. They also release personal information about their opponents online, commonly known as “doxxing” – they’ve gotten some alt-right supporters fired from their jobs after identifying them online.

Antifa groups also use more traditional forms of community organising like rallies and protest marches. The most extreme factions will carry weapons like pepper spray, knives, bricks and chains – and they don’t rule out violence.

    6: How violent are they?

Their willingness to use violence marks out Antifa from many other left-wing activists, although the Antifa members we spoke to said they denounce the use of weapons and violent direct action. They said if violence does occur, it’s as a form of self-defence. They also make historical arguments to justify their position. For instance, they ask, what if opponents of the German Nazi Party had been more forceful in their opposition in the 1930s, could World War Two and the Holocaust have been averted?

Antifa have been directly and sometimes physically confronting the far right on the streets and, in some cases, they have been successful in postponing, cutting short or cancelling rallies and speeches up and down America.

    7. Do women join Antifa groups?

Traditionally direct street action has been a mostly male domain, but significant numbers of women are members of Antifa groups and have been arrested at counter-demonstrations against the alt-right in California and elsewhere. Female members of Antifa groups told us they view the current administration as being anti-women. They point to White House policies on immigration, affordable health care, abortion rights and voting rights and say they disproportionately affect women and minorities. We spoke with Sunsara Taylor from the Antifa group Refuse Fascism who told us women are motivated to respond to “what hits them”.

    1. Can’t you speak for yourself?, Is this why you keep posting propaganda from others? A link would suffice, no additional commentary is justified, especially “copy and paste”.

    2. “Online battles…are now regularly spilling out onto the streets of America.”

It will be a glorious day when we come face to face onto the streets with you. But then that would deprive you of getting paid for trolling for your employer Correct The Record

      coward.

    3. “Do women join Antifa groups?”

From what I’ve seen obese lesbians are the only people in antifa who can even remotely be described as intimidating on a physical level.

    4. they are anarchists and they need what they presume to give to those they don’t like (Fascists)

they need a bop on the head! they’re cruising for a bruising and trust me somebody’s going to give it to them

i would not be surprised however if like the klan of the 60s they are rife with provocateurs and informants for various “intelligence services’ and police

  10. “Far-Right Proud Boys’ Founder Called ‘Hatemonger’”

“Gavin McInnes is not on trial over a brawl at a Republican club in Manhattan. But prosecutors keep returning to him.”

    https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/14/nyregion/proud-boys-trial-gavin-mcinnes.html

    Excerpt:

Mr. McInnes, a co-founder of Vice Magazine, was not charged in connection with the brawl last October near the Metropolitan Republican Club on the Upper East Side, when 10 of his followers attacked a handful of masked left-wing protesters.

But during the trial of Mr. Hare and another member of the Proud Boys, John Kinsman, who are both charged with attempted assault and riot, Manhattan prosecutors have suggested some of the blame for the violence should land on Mr. McInnes.

During closing arguments on Wednesday, the defense said that Mr. McInnes was being “demonized.”

Video from the October incident shows that Mr. Hare and Mr. Kinsman, along with eight others, surrounded and beat four people believed to have been part of Antifa, a group of self-described anti-fascists whose members have fought far-right groups.

During the trial, which began in late July, Mr. Hare and Mr. Kinsman have said their actions were justified. Seven other defendants connected to the Proud Boys have pleaded guilty in the case; an eighth is awaiting trial.

Again and again, prosecutors have turned to his words to convince jurors that the Proud Boys, who describe themselves as patriots and “Western chauvinists” who reject political correctness, are prone to violence and tolerant of misogynistic, racist and xenophobic sentiments.

By repeatedly citing Mr. McInnes, prosecutors have also tied him to an organization that he has recently sought to distance himself from.

Last November, Mr. McInnes said he was reluctantly quitting the Proud Boys “in all capacities, forever,” because his lawyers had told him the gesture might help members who had been arrested after his talk.

At the time, Mr. McInnes said the Proud Boys were not extremists and had no ties to white nationalists, though he added, “This whole idea of white nationalists and white supremacy is a crock” and “such people don’t exist.”

Responding to an email on Monday, Mr. McInnes said he had only ever advocated self-defense. “I never suggested random acts of violence,” he wrote.

Mr. McInnes said his jokes and parodies of racism had been misconstrued

    1. Note: McInnes “not charged” If anyone wants to see the real perpetrators of hate and violence look at what happened in Portland. The Proud Boys were peaceful and left peacefully. Antifa rioted.

Reading the NYTImes? They just admitted that the Russia investigation was a hoax and now they are pledged to claim racism. They are not a newspaper.

      1. Regarding the Foreign Agent, the NYTimes, they knowing involved themselves in Sedition & Espionage regarding the Democrat/DOJ/FBI’s Pissgate Russian Hoax.

        Book’em Dan’O

        1. Oky, the NYTimes has proven themselves garbage. They don’t hide their secrets very well. They now realize that the Russia hoax didn’t work so they have decided to stop that storyline so they don’t have to talk about all the heinous stuff being revealed and restart the phony claims of racism.

It should be known that IT IS NOT NEWS when what is going to be written on the front page for the next several months has already been decided.

      2. There is not a binary choice. I do not find the proud boys appealing and have no desire to defend them.

At the same time if they are the pinnacle of white supremecism, and racism – then both are nearly dead.

Anyone who conflates the proud boys with the neo-nazi’s and KKK of the past knows nothing of the past.

Antifa on the other hand is openly anarchist, and violent. And based on some of the video from portland racist too.

There is video of an antifa member calling a black police officer a “coon”.

The left – including the mayor of Portland spent weeks smearing the proud boys, ranting that he did not want their hate and violence.

They came – peacefully, they marched peacefully, they left peacefully.

All the numerous instances of violence – and even racism in Portland were from Antifa, They were even pushing arround 80 year old ladies.

        1. JB, the Proud Boys are neither appealing or not appealing. They are simply a group of people that will accept Blacks, Jews and all other people. The group is not racist though no one can say what individual members feel.

My understanding is that they seek to protect First Amendment rights and are not a militant group but will protect themselves. My understanding is also that on a rare occasion some of the group may or may not have overreacted in the face of another group already proven to be quite violent. Whether they did so or not is in question but what is not in question is that the Antifa group is violent and has racist tendencies.

This last rally demonstrated the difference between the two groups as the Proud Boys stood proudly for the flag and cooperated with the police leaving the area without violence. The Antifa group rioted.

Those are the facts on the ground proven by video, but the left and people like anonymous don’t like to accept the truth so they seek out articles that agree with them but even their articles show hints of what really happened.

Andy Ngo did not put his face between the fists of rioting Antifa members even though anonymous might falsely claim that.

    2. What matters is NOT McInnnes, NOT the ideology of the “proud boys”.

But what actually happened – who attacked who first, and was any response proportionate.

It is my understanding that the defense offered by the various members of the proud boys is that the members of Antifa attacked them first. There is some video that indicates that might be the case.
Further the Proud Boys attendance at this event was publicly announced. Antifa sought out the proud boys.

Those facts are not sufficient to establish guilt or innocence, but coupled with what is supposed to be a presumption of innocence, the prosecutor must either prove that the proud boys started the conflict – or that there response went beyond reasonable self defense.

The ideology of the respective parties is irrelevant – though who sought out who is.

  11. While some of you guys on the left still haven’t gotten the news that the Russia thing was a hoax the NYTimes isn’t going to wait for you to catch up. “Baquet used the gentlest terms possible — “the story changed” — but the fact is, the conspiracy-coordination allegation the Times had devoted itself to pursuing turned out to be false. ”

New York Times chief outlines coverage shift: From Trump-Russia to Trump racism

    by Byron York | August 15, 2019 08:18 PM
Dean Baquet, the executive editor of the New York Times, said recently that, after the Mueller report, the paper has to shift the focus of its coverage from the Trump-Russia affair to the president’s alleged racism.

“We built our newsroom to cover one story, and we did it truly well,” Baquet said. “Now we have to regroup, and shift resources and emphasis to take on a different story.”

Baquet made the remarks at an employee town hall Monday. A recording was leaked to Slate, which published a transcript Thursday.

Senior Political Correspondent David Drucker on the expanded Washington Examiner magazine
In the beginning of the Trump administration, the Times geared up to cover the Russia affair, Baquet explained. “Chapter 1 of the story of Donald Trump, not only for our newsroom but, frankly, for our readers, was: Did Donald Trump have untoward relationships with the Russians, and was there obstruction of justice? That was a really hard story, by the way, let’s not forget that. We set ourselves up to cover that story. I’m going to say it. We won two Pulitzer Prizes covering that story. And I think we covered that story better than anybody else.”

But then came the Mueller report, with special counsel Robert Mueller failing to establish that the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with Russia to fix the 2016 election. “The day Bob Mueller walked off that witness stand, two things happened,” Baquet continued. “Our readers who want Donald Trump to go away suddenly thought, ‘Holy shit, Bob Mueller is not going to do it.’ And Donald Trump got a little emboldened politically, I think. Because, you know, for obvious reasons. And I think that the story changed. A lot of the stuff we’re talking about started to emerge like six or seven weeks ago. We’re a little tiny bit flat-footed. I mean, that’s what happens when a story looks a certain way for two years. Right?”

Baquet used the gentlest terms possible — “the story changed” — but the fact is, the conspiracy-coordination allegation the Times had devoted itself to pursuing turned out to be false. Beyond that, Democrats on Capitol Hill struggled to press an obstruction case against the president. The Trump-Russia hole came up dry.

Now, Baquet continued, “I think that we’ve got to change.” The Times must “write more deeply about the country, race, and other divisions.”

“I mean, the vision for coverage for the next two years is what I talked about earlier: How do we cover a guy who makes these kinds of remarks?” Baquet said. “How do we cover the world’s reaction to him? How do we do that while continuing to cover his policies? How do we cover America, that’s become so divided by Donald Trump?”

The town hall was spurred by angry reaction, both inside and outside the Times, to a headline that many on the Left faulted for being insufficiently anti-Trump. After the El Paso shootings, when the president denounced white supremacy, the Times published a page-one story with the heading, “Trump Urges Unity Vs. Racism.”

“I think one of the reasons people have such a problem with a headline like this … is because they care so much,” one staffer said to Baquet. “And they depend on the New York Times. They are depending on us to keep kicking down the doors and getting through, because they need that right now. It’s a very scary time.”

Baquet vowed a transition to a new “vision” for the paper for the next two years. “How do we grapple with all the stuff you all are talking about?” he said to the staffer. “How do we write about race in a thoughtful way, something we haven’t done in a large way in a long time? That, to me, is the vision for coverage. You all are going to have to help us shape that vision. But I think that’s what we’re going to have to do for the rest of the next two years.”

The headline controversy, it appears, was a preview of a new 2019-2020 New York Times. If Baquet follows through, the paper will spend the next two years, which just happens to be the run-up to the 2020 presidential election, building the Trump-is-a-racist narrative. (Baquet added, almost as an afterthought, that the Times will “continu[e] to cover his policies.”)

The employee town hall was not intended to be public. But the Times is a news organization, and no one could be surprised that a recording of it leaked, possibly by Times employees who want to push Baquet in an even more anti-Trump direction. In any event, it’s now public. And the results will play out for the next two years.

  12. Disrespect for life, lack of moral center seen as factors in gun violence

    Aug 18, 2019

CATHOLIC NEWS SERVICE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In this American age of violence, where 165 shootings happened this year alone, where politicians scream at each other across the aisle about gun laws and Second Amendment rights without even the common ground of mutual respect, religious leaders, scholars and TV personalities alike notice a more insidious problem with American culture.

The problem behind the problem, they suggest, is a pervasive disregard for the sanctity of life.

On Aug. 5 in CatholicPhilly.com, the archdiocesan news outlet, Philadelphia Archbishop Charles J. Chaput republished a statement he had given before the U.S. Senate as testimony in response to the Columbine High School shooting 20 years ago in Colorado, when he was archbishop of Denver.

He paired it with a current response to the shootings in Gilroy, California, in late July and in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, in early August, which left a total of 34 people dead and dozens more injured.

“The real problem (of Columbine-like violence in our culture) is in here, in us,” Chaput said before the Senate in 1999. “In the last four decades, we’ve created a culture that markets violence in dozens of different ways, seven days a week. It’s part of our social fabric. … When we glorify and multiply guns, why are we shocked when kids use them?”

Robert George, director of the James Madison program in American ideals and institutions at Princeton University, tweeted along similar lines:

“People have lots of motives for killing other people – greed, envy, ideology, hatred, racism, nihilism, and on and on. Sometimes people kill others simply because they are in the way. Only one thing can overcome all motives to kill: the conviction that every human life is sacred.”
Chaput went on to explain that disrespect for life is stained into the fabric of American culture, through abortion, the death penalty, assisted suicide – currently legal in eight states and the District of Columbia – violent video games, disrespect for the elderly and morbid fascination with the bloody details of each new shooting. The list goes on.

Even Oprah Winfrey chimed into the discussion. She attributed the atmosphere of hatred and violence to a lack of individual morality.

“Churches used to do that. … It was a central place you could come to and there was a core center of values about a way of living and being in the world,” she said in an interview with “Extra”. “Until we can return to that, however that is, in whatever form, we will continue to be lost.”

Chaput said that gun control is not going to solve this cultural problem. Rather, he suggested that America needs to radically shift its perception of life, to rid its culture of the hatred, dishonesty, excess, moral anarchy, and perversion that have characterized this uniquely bloody period in U.S. history.

Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin of Newark, New Jersey, also addressed the “culture of hate” in an Aug. 5 statement.

“What is different now is the culture of hate that has been developing over the last few years,” he said. “Whether it is expressed in the violence of white nationalism or violence against the defenseless unborn, hate seems to be an accepted way of life.”
However, he added the strong caveat that, in addition to addressing this cultural immorality, government leaders should institute a ban on assault weapons, implement universal background checks and criminalize gun trafficking immediately.

Chaput said exterior measures would have minimal effect controlling the situation and that any real solutions must confront the core of a rotting culture.

“Treating the symptoms in a culture of violence doesn’t work,” he said, “We need to look deeper. Until we’re willing to do that, nothing fundamental will change.”

  13. The are still up to it. The Proud Boys showed up and left. Then Antifa started attacking innocents. Still no police action.

      1. “Proud Boys: stand-up guys. ”

They hurt no one and weren’t violent in Portland but your antifa friends that beat Ngo up and nearly killed him rioted after the Proud Boys left. There are statements out there that they even were chasing a young child. You have real problems.

        1. “You have real problems.”

My “problems” pale in comparison to yours, Allan.

          1. “My “problems” pale in comparison to yours, Allan.”

Really anonymous? You support those that beat up defensless people. I just point that out to you. That is not what is known to be a problem but your support of violent people is very problematic. Would you have preferred if the Antifa crowd caught up with the ~8 year old and beat her up or perhaps did something worse? Your friends are capapble of such actions.

            1. In this world, if one plays with fire, the result is usually predictable — right or wrong.

          2. Your first problem is mispreception of reality.

If you think the proud boys are a serious threat to anything,
and if you do not understand that Antifa is

Then you are paying no attention.

Despite the fact that the media dispropotionately covers the violence they can attribute to the right much more than that of the left – to the point of frequently creditng the right form acts of violence by those on the left,
Still the overwhelming evidence is of far greater violence from the left.

Purportedly the proud boys are racist. Yet they got along well with Portlands Police many of whom were black.

Yet Antifa members are constantly attacking the police – inccluding black officers and today were recorded calling a black police officer a “coon”.

So where is the racism ?

        2. They’re a group of great guys, those Proud Boys:

“Far-Right Proud Boys’ Founder Called ‘Hatemonger’”

“Gavin McInnes is not on trial over a brawl at a Republican club in Manhattan. But prosecutors keep returning to him.”

Mr. McInnes said his jokes and parodies of racism had been misconstrued

          1. So Anonymous is using the New York Times as a source to slander/lie about another American Patriotic Group, the Proud Boys, that believes they have the Right to gather in Public, Unmolested, speak their minds & defended themselves defensively by using their God Given Right at home & even in New York C(Sh)ity when attacked

I guess Anonymous & it’s buddies are just Fine with the Foreign Agent, the New York Times, being a Big Backer of Adolf Hitler’s Nazis & the NYT even help the Nazis cover up Ethnic Genocide across Europe.

So that’s right you soro loser American Hating Wackos/ Racist just keep on letting the rest of the citizens know what Scum you & your NYT/Anifa really are.

BTW: Gevin McInnes was also one of the ones that saw the Charlottesville VA 2017 was a Commie/Fascist paid for Trap for Trump supports & he helped steer other supporters away.

          2. Anonymous – I can call you a pedophile, however that does not make it true. That headline is just an attempt by the paper to smear him and his group.

            1. What do you call these people like these anti- Trumpers who are supportive of known pedos & child traffickers?

Alex’s crew found some more congressional testimony & govt records to such.

I think they’ll have the rest of their video ready tomorrow or mid week. I’ll post it no doubt.

              1. Oky1 – I think those people who support pedos and child traffickers should be watching their back.

        3. Antifa needs an attitude adjustment on a federal no-fly list, with an all expenses paid stay in a federal prison, followed by banishment to an island small enough or an ice floe big enough.

      2. What we know for certain about the Proud Boys is that they were not the violent hateful forked tailed devils that portlands mayors painted them as.

Conversely Antifa – which Wheeler has allowed to wreak havoc on his city of more than a year, continues its violence, attacking people who have nothing to do with Proud Boys.

Portland has gone to hell – and Proud Boys have nothing to do with that.

Even if they were actual Nazi’s – which they do not appear to be,
        They are tame Nazi’s.

Are they “good people” – probably not.

Are they violent thugs like Antifa ? Nope.

Nor is Antifa the extent of the problem as Turley notes.

There has been violence from both the right and left.
All of it should be prosecuted.

But the violence from the left dwarfs that of the right, and it is NOT limited to Antifa.

Many people who would be called just ordinary members of the left have engaged in violence.

        1. “Portland has gone to hell”.
I used to really like going there, and now avoid it.
          Mr. Say is correct.

  14. In 1957, President Eisenhower sent the 101st Airborne Division of the US Army into Little Rock, Arkansas to stand between lawless domestic terrorists, a local government disinclined to enforce the law against domestic terror, and kids who wanted the same education as their white neighbors who trusted SOMEONE to enforce the law.

62 years later, the city of Portland and state of Oregon are disinclined to protect freedom of speech from the Democratic party’s storm troopers. Anyone who stands in their way does so trusting SOMEONE to enforce the law.

We don’t need an airborne division for that. The Oregon Army National Guard can be Federalized and ordered to pacify the streets of Portland. It’s time for the law to mean something there.

  15. This is what the left openly supports and calls “anti-fascism”:

And, because it’s Portland, no one gets arrested. Andy Ngo was left with a bleeding brain…that’s all. You’ll also note that these cowards who attacked Ngo only do so when they have numbers- this is typical of these wimps.

    1. Ivan, The article anonymous provided and probably anonymous herself believes that Andy Ngo placed his face between the antifa fists that were flying so it is his fault. There was no one else there but the antifa crowd so she believes Andy Ngo acted alone.

    2. I forget how many people Portland’s Mayor, (probablely tied in with the evil side of US intel groups) & his Goons badly injured with their terrorism that time. I think there was 6 or 7 that were harmed bad enough to have to go to the hospital.

This website below has been pretty good at aggregating news stories.

  16. Let’s see now : as a stated “deterrent” to seeking asylum, Trump separates small children from their parents, cages them, calls brown people “criminals, rapists, vermin, animals, breeders and invaders”, and one of his supporters goes on a killing spree while repeating the “invader” label. That’s on the one hand. On the other hand, those opposed to Trump and the racist White Supremacy he stands for slapped someone and used pepper spray, and Turley’s shorts are in a twist because media don’t report the slapping and pepper spraying as significant or some kind of anti-First Amendment attack.

Here’s the difference : Trump’s conduct and rhetoric are counter to American values. This isn’t a matter of politics : it’s a battle for the soul of America and our shared values. Being pro-Trump is being in favor of the despicable behavior and things he says. Some believe that publicly supporting such things is a good reason to beat someone’s ass. Those who came before us fought and died for these values, and aren’t about to let a draft-dodging, lying narcissist reality TV performer stir up old racist and xenophobic hatreds we thought we had put to rest a long time ago without fighting back.

    1. Nat, can you ever say just one word that isn’t a complete Lie or fabrication of you Commie/Fascist play book?

    2. Domestic terror and violence in the streets to punish freedom of expression aren’t just counter to American values, they’re actually against the law.

    3. The US has asylum laws.
We do not allow anyone to claim asylum.

A claim of asylum is not a get into the US pass.

There are specific requirements. 95% of those applying are rejected at the begining and returned to their country of origen.
Most of the rest fail to sustain their claim.

Pretty much all of these people are economic immigrants not asylum seekers.

If we wish to allow economic immigrants in – I would support that, BUT change the law.

Do not blame Trump, or ICE or CBP from enforcing the laws we have.

The same goes for child separation – as was noted the “cages” were built by Obama – Trump has not built a single cage.
Almost everything Trump is doing Obama did – often with as much vigor, but it received little press coverage.

Absolutely Trump (and Obama) are seeking to deter illegal immigration. If there is no deterences there will be 10’s of millions trying to cross the border in short order. If that is what you want – say so openly, and work to change the law.
Who knows maybe I will support you.

But this nonsense claiming Trump is racist for doing mostly the same things as Obama is garbage and proof you are not connected to reality.

Trump is very nearly exactly as xenophobic and racist as Obama.

BTW the language you quotes was explicitly directed at MS-13 members – most of us would agree with that.
Just as most of us would agree that Baltimore is rat infested and that Democrats have done nothing about it.

And what has to be done to get you past this racist white supremecy nonsense.

In my life time there were KKK ralies drawing thousands with burning crosses within ten miles of my NORTHERN home.

I think the largest KKK gathering in the past decade had 5 people.

There will ALWAYS be elements of racism in this country – in each of us – even those on the left, even those in the minority.
My children are Asian and the way some blacks treat them is horrid.

But racism and white supremecy are inconsequential problems today. They are an excuse for NOTHING.

But those like you think that political dominance – that forcing others to conform to your will – even though you are clueless and can not even manage your own lives, is your birth right. That it is inherently evidence of racism that you lost.

We now have NYT expressing that its news staff thinks the entirety of people who voted for trump are obviously racist.

If you think that 63 million people in this country are racists – you are the problem.
