Trump: Any Jewish Person Who Votes Democratic “Shows Either A Total Lack of Knowledge or Great Disloyalty”

In a disturbing statement to the media, President Donald Trump declared Tuesday that “any Jewish people that vote for a Democrat – I think it shows either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty.” American Jews have long fought against the common trope that they vote solely on Israel and put the interests of that country above their own. Weirdly, Trump appears to be adopting the trope with this comment. It is a deeply insulting suggestion for Jewish Americans who vote their consciences on the future of this country. Trump seemed to suggest that they are expected to be one issue voters.

This follows equally disturbing comments suggesting that four Freshman Members go back to their “original countries.” It also follows the disastrous decision of Israel to bar the entry of U.S. Reps. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan due to their political views. Trump reportedly encouraged the move that prompted Jewish groups in the United States to denounce the action.

In his comments in the Oval Office next to Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, Trump lashed out at the suggestion of Omar that the United States use its aid to Israel to ensure “full rights to Palestinians.” Trump said that “Five years ago, the concept of even talking about this … even three years ago, of cutting off aid to Israel because of two people who hate Israel and hate Jewish people… I can’t believe we’re having this conversation.”

Later Trump questioned whether Tlaib’s tears in a recent interview were genuine.

Trump also retweeted a statement from a commentator referring to him as “King of Israel” and the “second coming.”

If the politics are changing on Israel, it will be in part due to the bone-headed move against Omar and Tlaib by Israel. Trump and Israel succeeded in the impossible: getting Jewish groups to defend two members viewed as anti-Israel. Now various leading Jewish groups have denounced Trump’s loyalty comments, though Trump has refused to back off the comments.

This statement about “disloyal” Jewish voters is deeply offensive and only strains the alliance with these voters even further. Trump was already having problems. According to a Gallup poll published in March, only 26 percent of Jewish voters approve of Trump’s work at president while 71 disapprove.

  1. Turley: According to a Gallup poll published in March, only 26 percent of Jewish voters approve of Trump’s work at president while 71 disapprove.

What is unusual about this? Gallup found that the Jewish breakdown by political party is 16% R, 31% I and 52% D. If one assumes that R and D vote party line and that I split that would give about 31% right and 69% left which is in the same ballpark as Gallup’s approval poll.

  2. OT: Folllow up on Planned Parenthood discussions.

“Jury Awards Planned Parenthood Whistleblower $3 Million After She Disclosed Nasty Conditions At Facilities … was endangering the health and safety of the women visiting their facility. As a result, officials fired her. …demonstrate its lack of medical care, concern for patients, and unethical practices. Rodriguez said Planned Parenthood fired her after she observed its many violations of state law and ethics guidelines, and after it fabricated a bunk claim that she had narcotics in her desk. …performing abortions on patients who then experienced significant complications, including bleeding and cramps. …safety risks … medical assistants complained … medical assistants believed the attestations were premature, wrong, and illegal because the abortion surgery had not yet been performed and they were concerned about the quality and thoroughness of the procedures …It’s not surprising that Planned Parenthood’s facilities nationwide frequently display, whether through state health inspections or a trial such as this, an inability to abide by safe medical practices. This reveals a callous disregard for medical ethics and women’s health, despite the organization’s claims to the contrary.”

  3. There is nothing offensive about President Trump’s remarks about people of Jewish heritage that continue to vote for Democrats. Ben Shapiro, a political commentator who could hardly be characterized as being pro-Trump, had much earlier prepared a video on the subject. Shapiro’s arguments are compelling and well-supported in the video. The position that Shapiro expresses in the video below isn’t all that different from the President’s in substance.

    1. Thanks James for this excellent video that should answer a lot of questions and help place things in the proper perspective.

    2. Regarding Ben Shapiro Video:

Mr Shapiro tells us that Barack Obama surrounded himself with ‘Anti-Semites’ while drawing 70% of the Jewish vote. That’s an astounding assertion considering the education levels of American Jews.

According to a Pew Research report entitled “2014 Religious Landscape Study”, 59% of American Jews have college degrees. And 44% of American Jewish households have incomes of $100,000 per year or more.

Yet Mr Shapiro would have us believe one of America’s most educated and affluent ethnic / religious groups is incapable of recognizing an “Anti-Semitic” White House! Does this seem plausible??

Shapiro then goes on to assert that most American Jews aren’t really Jewish. And presumably this explains why 70% of American Jews were okay with Obama’s “Anti-Semitic” White House.

It is easier to believe that Mr Shapiro is turning logic on its head to provide political cover for both Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu. One could say, in fact, that this is a symptom of the Trump era. ‘Logic must be turned upside-down to normalize Donald Trump’.

SIDE NOTE: Here in Hollywood actors learn that unpressed, open collars look like crap on camera. For that reason, Actors and Extras working on major productions must get approval from Wardrobe Departments before they go on set.

But Ben Shapiro, perhaps, is imitating James O’Keefe with that shabby open collar look. And this video is testament to how crappy that looks.

      1. Peter, you need to listen to the video again. It went over your head.

Hollywood spends amazing amounts of time trying to have their clothing match their surroundings. They do this at the expense of being brain dead.

      2. Hill, you are mistaken. This Ben Shapiro video has nothing to do with Donald Trump. His video above was published on February 11, 2015 and Trump did not even declare his candidacy until months later.

Also, individuals that have earned college degrees and that earn $100,000 or more annually does not necessarily make them smart or wise. For example, consider the video below where commentator Ami Horowitz was able to collect more than 50 signatures from the Yale University community in less than 60 minutes for a petition calling for the repeal of the First Amendment. This video was also published in 2015, so the deterioration has likely accelerated since then.

        1. James, we’re supposed to think this video expose the American Jewish community as stupid..?? I’m not sure why. We don’t have no idea ‘who’ these people are in the video or any of them are Jewish.

  4. Media Lies About Trump’s Comments About Jews Who Vote Dem

Two House Dems decided to go on a trip organized by Miftah, an anti-Semitic hate group.

Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib’s since-canceled trip to Israel was sponsored by Miftah, an exceptionally anti-Semitic group that praises Palestinian terrorists and claims Jews used the blood of Christians in the Jewish Passover. The organization also publishes Neo-Nazis and calls for the destruction of Israel.

And the mainstream media not only covered for Miftah and defended Omar and Tlaib, but raised a ruckus that the Jewish State had the temerity to deny the bigots entry.

Then Rep. Omar and Rep. Tlaib retweeted a cartoon by a bigot who had submitted a cartoon to Iran’s Holocaust cartoon contest.

Again, the media shrugged and looked away from their anti-Semitism, while celebrating them as heroes and victims.

But now, finally the media discovered “anti-Semitism”.

Trump Accuses Jewish Democrats of ‘Great Disloyalty’ – New York Times

Trump: Jewish people who vote Democratic show ‘great disloyalty’ – NBC

    etc, you know the rest.

Trying to spin that as anti-Semitism requires entirely eliminating the context.

“I can’t even believe that we’re having this conversation. Five years ago, the concept of even talking about this, even 3 years ago, of cutting off aid to Israel because of 2 people that hate Israel and hate Jewish people. I can’t believe we’re even having this conversation. Where has the Democratic Party gone? Where have they gone where they’re defending these 2 people over the state of Israel? I think that any Jewish people that vote for a Democrat, I think it shows either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty.”

Yes, ‘disloyalty’ is not a good word here. ‘Stupidity’ would be better. So would ‘self-destructive’.

But the media’s pretense that Trump was accusing Jews of disloyalty to America is very obviously dishonest. It’s especially dishonest from the same media organizations that have no problem with Rep. Omar and Rep. Tlaib trafficking with straight up anti-Semites, trying to pluck a line out of context, and then building a case around it, while the context is that Trump was condemning Democrat anti-Semitism.

  5. At The Risk Of Further Upsetting Ms. Tlaib

Rashida Tlaib was in tears over the conditions in which her grandmother lives in the West Bank, and furious that her mother, an American citizen, was forced to go through a “checkpoint” from Israel once in order to visit her. “As a young girl, visiting Palestine to see my grandparents, I watched as my mother had to go through dehumanizing checkpoints — even though she was a United States citizen and proud American.” She was so sad. Teary. Emotional. Distraught.

    In light of that …

Is it insensitive to point out that international Arab wars in 1948, 1956, 1967, 1973, 1982, terror wars (so-called intifadas) in 1989 and 2001, and rocket wars in 2006, 2009, and 2014 have all been started by Arab states or Palestinian leaders against the state of Israel with the intention of destroying it?

It is, perhaps, rude to point out that in the 1949 war of annihilation he declared on Israel, the King of Jordan scooped up the territory that had been allocated for a Palestinian-Arab state. It’s probably uncharitable to mention that he annexed the Palestinian-allotted territory in a move recognized only by Great Britain and Pakistan, but no one was moved to do anything about it. And pitiless to mention that Tlaib’s grandmother was thus illegally occupied from 1949 – 1967. By Jordan. And thick-skinned, perhaps, to point out that Israel only entered the Palestinian picture when the Jordanian king — in a mind-bogglingly stupid moment — entered 1967’s Six-Day War on the fourth day and managed to lose all of his illegally held possessions.

And given what Ms. Tlaib considers to be her grandmother’s suffering, it seems hardhearted to point out that there were no checkpoints during the Jordanian occupation because no Israeli person — no Jewish person — ever passed from Israel into Jordanian-held Jerusalem at all between 1949 and 1967. No Jewish person could pray at the holiest of Jewish sites and 58 synagogues on the eastern side of the city were dynamited and destroyed. And no Jordanian or Palestinian person was permitted by Jordan to pass from Jordan into Israel during that period for work, medical care, or school.

It really is harsh to point out that after Israel acquired the West Bank territory and, in the course, defending itself from the king’s weak-mindedness, Palestinian workers were permitted to travel to and work in Israel — and still are. Some 100,000 – 110,000 Palestinians currently work in Israel and another 30,000 work in West Bank communities. Is it callous to note that those checkpoints were the result of Palestinian terrorism that ended any hope of free or casual passage?

    No. It is not.

It thus seems fair to note that while not one Jordanian was killed by a terrorist Palestinian to liberate “Palestine” from the Jordanian government in the 19 years of occupation, 2,143 Israelis have been killed and nearly 10,000 wounded by Palestinians in deliberate attacks. It seems fair also to emphasize the word “deliberate.” Dead Jews were the goal. Fair, too, to remind her that 19 of the dead and 172 of the wounded were victims of a massacre during a Passover Seder; Nava Applebaum and her father David were murdered sitting in a café the night before her wedding; Kobi Mandell and Yosef Ishran, two 13-year-old boys, had their heads smashed against rocks; 3-month-old Hadas, 4-year-old Elad, 11-year-old Yoav, and parents Ruth and Udi Fogel were murdered in their beds. Eighteen people, including Americans Malki Roth and Shoshana Yehudit Greenbaum, were killed in a Sbarro pizza parlor (their killers received an estimated $910,823 in “salary” from the Palestinian Authority).

There are 2,132 others to be named and remembered.

Israelis live not only with checkpoints, but with intrusive security in airports, schools, shopping centers, concert halls, and other places because all have been attacked by people — Palestinians, not Costa Ricans or Laotians or Nepalese — intent on killing them.

And yet, Israel is here, strong, vibrant, growing, democratic, and tolerant of everyone except those openly dedicated to its destruction.

If that further upsets Ms. Tlaib, so be it.

  6. Europeans are considering stigmatizing Jewish businesses — an idea last popularized by the Nazis — all in the name of neutrality. This time, the focus is on Jewish-owned businesses located in the world’s only Jewish nation state and the European Union’s not-so-subtle suggestion that Israel exists only within its pre-1967 borders.

In June, Gerard Hogan, an advocate general at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg, issued a nonbinding opinion, which many expect the court’s judges will adopt, suggesting that EU member states marginalize foodstuffs from Israel through detailed labeling. So products produced by Jewish citizens of Israel on land Israel won in the Six Day War is supposed to be labeled as hailing from “Israeli settlements” rather than being labeled “made in Israel.”

  7. your lack of support for freedom of speech is showing. Democratic as practiced by the falsely named democrats are socialists either national, international or progressive.; So what he’s calling them out by their ‘actual’ actions? Nothing wrong with that. I asked the question once about why or how do Jewish people support these socialists who under one version or another have massacred and destroyed them by the millions? Does it matter which version? No it does not. On the other hand there is one version called RINOs a faction of the left that should always be mentioned.

Why do some seem to magnetically gravitate to these extremists? Not hard to understand. If you bother to study history. They were the survivors of pogroms for starters. All based on the actions of a few mostly Roman supporters who no doubt packed the house and the court and then asked it at sword point who speaks for this suspect?

and that’s the way it goes when people are trained to listen to propaganda as an early version of The Collective.

  8. This is why the Constitution establishes an intermediate electorate for the Selection of the President and the Vice President (The President of the Senate)! This is also why both of the Electoral Processes, Article 2 Section 1 and the 12th Amendment, are also blind election processes!

If I have to explain my statements, then we as a country have more problems then just Dysfunctional Government and the inability to properly assemble our Governing institutions.

Before you comment your practiced party justifications and Constitutional interpretations, answer the question; why would you use an indirect and blind election process?

Not only are Article 2 Section 1 and the 12th Amendment Indirect and Blind election processes, Article 2 Section 1 is a straight double blind election process, and the 12th Amendment is double blind with ranked choice, both have sequestered electorates for the choice, and the list of their votes must be certified, sealed, and transmitted to the Seat of Government Directed to the President of the Senate!

Thanks Federalistpapers for once again indulging our limitless love of all things Lewis Carroll. While yours is an admirable effort, behold the brilliance of the original:

’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
      All mimsy were the borogoves,
      And the mome raths outgrabe.

      “Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
      The frumious Bandersnatch!”

      He took his vorpal sword in hand;
Long time the manxome foe he sought—
So rested he by the Tumtum tree
      And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
      And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
      The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
      He went galumphing back.

“And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
      O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”
      He chortled in his joy.

’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
      All mimsy were the borogoves,
      And the mome raths outgrabe.

  9. I’m not Jewish, and don’t presume to lecture Jews the way that Trump did. But I am a nobody.

Whereas, Trump is one of the foremost national leadership allies of the Jewish state of Israel, I should think that he has stuck his neck out and earned a right to speak on the topic.

The Jewish alliance to the Democrat party is a complicated phenomenon, but it’s generally unwise for us gentiles to speak too much about it. Walking down that alley is “VERBOTEN” to us. You can see that this will cause Trump no small amount of trouble.

Trump has a lot of Jewish people in his adminstration. His foremost advisor on migration issues is actually Jewish. Stephen Miller. Correct me if I am wrong.

Israeli migration policy is most interesting and their border enforcement methods reflect a strong commitment to national identity and security. I find that admirable. There is a diversity of opinion among Jewish people about immigration. Here is an interesting essay by a Jewish man on the topic. My opinion is irrelevant, but his is very thought provoking

    1. Anyone that counts on Trump as an ally has a great disappointment coming. As far as Jewish people in his administration, he likes them counting his money.

“Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day.” Donald Trump
