Rep. Liz Cheney has been much in the news with controversial statements like her suggestion that the Turkish invasion of Syria was due to the impeachment inquiry by the Democrats. Many of us were critical of that comment but one person seems to have taken his anger with Cheney out on . . . the University of Wyoming. That’s right, Connecticut-based author and psychologist Hank Weisinger has threatened to take back his father’s collection of papers related to the Superman comic series because he is upset that the state has Cheney among her elected officials.
Hank Weisinger is the son of Mort Weisinger, who was the editor of the “Superman” comic book series from DC Comics. The Casper Star-Tribune has reported that he is now demanding the return of the papers from the university’s American Heritage Center. His reason? The Associated Press has reported that Weisinger does not want his father’s papers at a university whose state is represented by Cheney.
It is a truly bizarre connection to draw in punishing a university for a politician elected by voters in a given state. It is not clear what Weisinger expects. Should the University violate state law and actively run a political campaign to oust Cheney on a “Save Superman” platform?
Weisinger needs to seriously take time with the comics from his father, particularly where Superman says “There is a right and wrong in the Universe and that distinction is not hard to make.”
We would be happy to receive the Superman material here in Cleveland, home of our hero.
milord, you do realize that the word you were correcting “distain” is an actual word though not as commonly used. The phrase “have brought intellectual distain (dishonor) upon my state” makes sense.

Heck, if we are going to punish the University of Wyoming for the fact that Wyoming has been inflicting the Cheneys on us, let’s make the punishment real, like storing all nuclear waste from US reactors in the student cafeteria at the University of Wyoming, or requiring all University students and employees to eat at McDonalds once a day.

IMO, Liz Cheney is exactly correct. In the past members of both parties have closed ranks where dangerous foreign affairs could threaten US interests but over the years the Democrats have been notorious about placing party before country. As the left has become more and more anti-American and anti-American culture we have seen a divergence from that philosophy. Let’s just say that the leftist Democrats of today are like Kriptonite that all good Americans should protect themselves against,

Her father did, attending fitfully between 1960 and 1965 ‘ere being awarded an MA degree. None of the rest of the family did so.
Her father has neither more nor less of a connection with the University than he did when the papers were donated. She herself has no connection at all bar that she’s likely visited the campus and perhaps done constituent service favors for the University when requested to do so. His complaint is bizarre, and, given that the guy’s not young, one would have to guess a sign of approaching dementia.
His threat is similar the fascist tendencies Democrats have shown with their: support of Always-FA, the ridiculous National Vote initiative that negates voters in a state, Dems desire to pack SCOTUS, Democrats unlawful fake impeachment hearings that they are doing behind closed doors, their smear campaigns and their use of children as arbiters of knowledge and truth. Fascist, entitled Democrats like Weisinger are the new normal that is harming civil society, possibly irreparably.

When I go to Mexico, I rent a car myself at Hertz, and drive around down the Yucatan coast. And I drove 1.5 hours over to Chitchen Itza.
