HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Happy New Year to everyone on our blog! We rang in 2020 at home in McLean, Virginia.  New Year’s eve is also my wedding anniversary. Twenty-one years ago,  Leslie and I eloped in Old Town Alexandria after dating eight years. Once again, we will celebrate two anniversary dates. I count the anniversary as our 30th while Leslie insists on counting this year as our 22nd anniversary.  We will toast our anniversary and the New Year (as we did 22 years ago) with a bottle of Schramsburg Cremant.

While the Chicago Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks have not dominated this year, we were a bit too busy in Chicago with other matters. Thus, next year will do fine with a sweep of all of the national championships.

I will be giving the summary of our year on the blog later today, but I wanted to wish everyone a safe and joyous new year in 2020. It has been a wonderful year with our rapidly expanding community. I cannot thank you enough for contributing to our daily dialogue on issues great and small in our society.

Happy New Year to everyone on our blog.

  1. 👏 Congrats! And Happy New Year 2020 to all, and Happy Anniversary to you both. Cheers! 🍾🎆🍾🎆

  2. I too celebrate . . . . Every presidential election year I have our septic tank pumped out . . . on my wedding anniversary.

  3. JT, this is a great year for you to speak for free speech and the end to the corruption of this government. Support Assange. Be willing to watch this video on the spying of his person and lawyers by entities of the CIA and please don’t say this kind of thing is o.k. with you. Speak out. This will effect all of us, including the world you leave for your children.

  4. I count the anniversary as our 30th while Leslie insists on counting this year as our 22nd anniversary.

    Enjoy.

Properly, she has the better of the argument. Cannot help but be amused that the man dates it from when she had claims on his time and attention and the woman dates it from when she had claims on his property.

  5. And to you as well Professor Turley.

We toasted the New Year at a roof top private party to watch the fireworks and the city lights. The temp was in the low 40s with windchill. Like you we also celebrated a recent anniversary, and my spouse is from Old Town, Florida in Dixie County.

Don’t forget to go to Mass today: Holy Day of Obligation
Americans would do well to follow the example of the Blessed Virgin Mary

    The Octave Day of Christmas
Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God

    Gospel LK 2:16-21

The shepherds went in haste to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph,
and the infant lying in the manger.
    When they saw this,
    they made known the message
that had been told them about this child.
All who heard it were amazed
by what had been told them by the shepherds.
And Mary kept all these things,
reflecting on them in her heart.
    Then the shepherds returned,
    glorifying and praising God
for all they had heard and seen,
just as it had been told to them.

When eight days were completed for his circumcision,
he was named Jesus, the name given him by the angel
before he was conceived in the womb.

  6. Mary Neuseyear lives up the street from me. She set off fireworks last night and the cops came.

  7. Hope you can read this here and respond. Recently I saw a tweet in response to one of my posts and wondered if it is Constitutionally true.
The X22Report (saw this in a tweet…have not read it) has stated that the Fed Reserve Bank was never ratified by Congress and was pushed thru on Christmas eve in 1913. Therefore the National Debt never needs to be nor will it be paid off. Additionally, IRS was never ratified making paying taxes illegal.
    Thank you.

    1. David Benson is the God Emperor of Making Stuff Up and owes me forty-two citations (one from the OED, one from the town ordinances and two from the Old Testament), an equation and the source of a quotation, after fifty-seven weeks, and needs to cite all his work from now on. – saw that WSU lost to Air Force in their bowl game. Sucks to be you.

  8. I am going with Leslie on this one. Happy Anniversary to you both and Happy New Year!!!!.

  9. Happy New Year Professor Turley with wishes for many more blessed New Years to come for you and yours.
