“No One Has Suggested My Son Did Anything Wrong”: Joe Biden Doubles Down On Denial

We have previously discussed the denials of former Vice President Joe Biden that his son did anything wrong in Ukraine. As I have written, not only did Hunter Biden clearly enter into a corrupt (but arguably lawful) contract but Joe Biden did not do enough to confirm that his son was not engaging in influence peddling. Nevertheless, this week, Joe Biden continued this indefensible position and declared bizarrely that “no one has suggested my son did anything wrong.”

According to the Washington Post, Joe Biden declared on the campaign trail that “There’s nobody that’s indicated there’s a single solitary thing that he did that was inappropriate, wrong … or anything other than the appearance. It looked bad that he was there.” He then curiously added “He acknowledges that he in fact made a mistake going on the board.” So, in other words, he did nothing wrong but he apologized for it.

Joe Biden continues to maintain that “no one” has accused his son of wrongdoing when there is a chorus of such allegations. He seems to be drawing a distinction between what is criminal and what is not — as if the criminal code is the only measure of wrongdoing or unethical conduct.

Hunter Biden not only clearly engaged in influence peddling but he is clearly a relevant witness.

Ukraine was a virtual gold rush for Washington’s elite and Hunter Biden was one of the first in line to cash in. Biden’s quest for a Ukrainian windfall took him to one of Ukraine’s most controversial and corrupt associates, Mykola Zlochevsky, who leveraged his post as minister of ecology and natural resources to build a fortune. Before fleeing Ukraine, Zlochevsky paid Hunter Biden and several other Americans to be directors of his energy company, Burisma Holdings. Hunter Biden had no experience in the field — but he did have a notable connection to the vice president, who publicly has bragged about making clear to the Ukrainians that he alone controlled U.S. aid to the country. A stepson of former Secretary of State John Kerry also was asked to serve as a director but reportedly declined and warned Hunter Biden not to do it; Biden didn’t listen. He later told The New Yorker that “the decisions that I made were the right decisions for my family and for me.” His decisions certainly were profitable, but they were not “right” as an ethical matter for himself or his father.

The use of spouses or children in influence peddling schemes is a tried and true technique in Washington. You find some kid of a powerful politician and give them a windfall salary or contract. There is no direct bribe or criminal violation, just influence with the politician. Joe Biden seems to believe that, so long as it does not violation the criminal code, it makes it “right” or curiously somehow “not wrong.”

  1. Biden is correct that no one has ‘suggested’ he son did anything wrong, His son and Joe Biden were flat our openly charged and for a period of time which allowed two books to be printed which depicted in detail the entire operation,

  2. Hunter’s conduct may have been legal, but you can bet Biden’s wasn’t Didn’t some government hack just say it’s illegal to withhold gov aid? I believe Rudy has found proof joe biden was laundering money 24/7

    1. No, the argument is not that it’s illegal to withhold government aid.

It’s not. Not if it’s done per the official policy of the United States and with Congressional consultation.

Joe Biden had the support of Republicans when he led U.S. efforts to force Ukraine to replace the corrupt prosecutor Viktor Shokin.

Your guys all believed Biden was doing the right thing at the time.

      1. I reckon the toad population must be in danger of massive depletion inorder for the commenters to be able to claim ‘we’ or ‘everyone’ or ‘nobody; without an empty pocket tripping them up. And yet no one yet has given any proof they have a claim to speak for the rest of the world, Especially since they have offered no substance to these wild accusations,

In reverse I can reasonably claim the comments have no substance or even human presence except perhaps some file clerk had to punch out a list of meaningless names attached to what are machine parts of The Collective of The Party. Considering the Party when founded never had a human presence in any of it’s three major forms.

Therefore with empty pockets but an objective analysis I can state two conclusions,

The machine that produced the comment can not claim Ad Hominem.
The proper response is Ad Machina and Rejected

And so should their hidden in bags at Dairy Queen ballots.

      2. Joe Biden had the support of Republicans when he led U.S. efforts to force Ukraine to replace the corrupt prosecutor Viktor Shokin.

You have no evidence that there was a U.S. effort to force Ukraine to replace the corrupt prosecutor Viktor Shokin or Republican support for such an effort.

The demand that originated with the IMF in the summer of 2015 was for reform in the Prosector’s office and Judiciary. The demand was for the Rada (Ukraine parliament) to pass legislative reform.
The govt of Ukraine is run like giant mafia protection racket and the Prosecutor General is the head enforcer. Legislative reform was needed to make the legal system accountable to just law and not just the oligarchs in power.

There is no evidence that it was the policy of the EU, IMF and US that the Prosecutor General had to be replaced. That story only emerged after Shokin resigned.

Shokin himself has provided sworn testimony in Austrian court that he was unaware that Biden had anything to do with his being asked to resign until after Biden made the famous video

  4. Where are the republicans that are PAID to represent & protect the Citizens?! Where are the “impeachment investigations” of Pelosi, Biden, Kerry (and all others) whose SPAWN were stuffing their pockets with OUR tax dollars?! ALL this “impeachment circus” is, is running interference to protect the corrupt Biden, Kerry, Pelosi, and how many OTHER of their families that have been stealing OUR taxes.
America does not need to see the tax returns of a billionaire who became a public servant. America needs to see the tax returns of public servants who became millionaires while being public servants” Jaeson Lubell

      1. Because they work in a family business, which is quite ordinary. His daughter and son-in-law are not taking a salary for their work in the White House.

    1. 1. No problem just get off your couch potato but make an effort to Change The Law,
      2. Let’s start with yours,
      3. Why limit it to millionaire public servants?
      4. Why not anyone involved in politics such as the GOP and the DNC and union leaders?
      5. Equal rights and equal opportunities,
      6. You can post yours right here in this blog,

Instead why bypass the easy way and ask the IRS. The ones who monitored and then accepted those returns?
I get it. You wuold have to get off your couch potato ass and actually do something ike the jokes that deman instant term limits but can’t bother to get recall in their own states.

  5. Hunter took a handout. Big deal. Joe Biden is the crook, dirty politician, liar, embedded in our government and well suited for the inept and two faced administration of alien obama.

    1. Hunter took a handout.

Hunter banged a call girl who got pregnant and fathered his offspring for whom he refuses to provide.

Hunter should be neutered and have Hillary’s testicles implanted into his body so that he can act as butch as Imwithher

      😉

  6. “…he set a single-day posting record with more than 140 tweets and retweets — a record that seems unlikely to survive the trial.”

    Trump — our tweeter-in-chief — is nervous:

“Those tweets came hours after he posted a string of complaints about the impeachment trial that mangled basic facts, and a day after he set a single-day posting record with more than 140 tweets and retweets — a record that seems unlikely to survive the trial.

“Trump’s tweets continue to be taken seriously in the echo chamber of Fox News, which has worked overtime to downplay the impeachment trial and spin it in the most favorable possible manner for the president. But a sober examination of Trump’s tweets reveals an off-the-rails presidency, even if we’re becoming increasingly numb to it.”

    https://www.vox.com/2020/1/24/21080090/trump-impeachment-tweets-obama-snowflakes

Yes, it’s “Vox.” Focus on the “140 tweets and retweets” in one day.

    1. Nervous? No. Angry? Hell, yes! If you were attacked 24/7 for the last 3 years you’d be livid too. All of america gets it. The DNC and the MSM hate President Trump. If it had been any other nominee beating Hillary there wouldn’t be a nickel’s difference in this hatred. Suck it up, buttercup. President Trump will be acquitted and win reelection in November. You only have 5 more years to suffer your psychosis until the next Republican president. 😂

  7. Profiteers from both sides of our one-Establishment-party always cling to legalities to defend corrupt practices. Since Lobbyists write most laws anyway, I’m sure they’re “right’ and legally safe.

The impulse of Trump voters to overturn these parasites was laudable- if your aim is destruction and not reform.

The only real solution is Citizenship which requires more time and engagement than most can muster. Use it or lose it.

  8. I just saw a video on Daily Wire where Glenn Beck reads a letter from Joe Biden to the MSM “…instructing them about how to report on allegations of corruption involving the former Vice President, his son, Hunter Biden, and Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings.” Seems like a silly letter to send if nobody suggested Hunter did anything wrong! LOL! Democrats…you just can’t make it up…

    1. “. Admittedly Alan might be too stupid to have made it up”

Allan calls himself “Allan the Stupid” for a reason. Even Allan realizes his own significant and serious limitations, but that doesn’t keep him from yammering.

    2. I was purged so to reiterate: you did and most people are smarter than you. However, Alan may be too stupid.

    1. US ambassadors serve at the pleasure of the President; there is no need to scheme to remove them, whether they are “career ambassadors” or political appointees.

You actually need an indictable crime to impeach a president, not just a feeling you got during your recurrent masturbatory fantasies.

      Where is your crime?

      1. “US ambassadors serve at the pleasure of the President; there is no need to scheme to remove them…”

Right. So then, why all the scheming…- using your term.

      2. If there’s no need to scheme to remove them, why on earth didn’t Trump just fire her?

Also, it would be a crime for a president to remove an ambassador in exchange for a bribe.

        1. On the tape Trump said he wanted her fired immediately, and waited for a little over a year to do it.
If want Barnas said was true…..that she was bad mouthing Trump…..he had justification to fire her on the spot.
If Barnas was lying about what she said, Trump may have waited to determine if Barnas’ accusations we’re true.
The Ukraine General Prosecutor in Ukraine who succeeded the prosecutor that “Biden forced out” also wanted Yovanovich replaced.
We don’t know much about what happened concerning discussions about Yovanovich’s future (continuing as Ukraine ambassador or firing her) between the Barnas March 2018 Barnas tape, and when she was fired in April 2019.
There’s not enough evidence to claim that Trump spent a year “scheming” to get her fired.
We don’t have a comprehensive knowledge of what happened in that 12+ month interval.
I think Zelensky was elected in March 2019, had a parliamentary majority a few months later, and we don’t know if that was a factor in her dismissal.

          1. ( Viktor Shokin was the General Prosecutor that Biden took credit for forcing out.
Lutsenko, Shokin’s replacement, was the one who wanted Yovanovich replaced).

          2. It like looks like Yovanovich was removed as ambassador on the same day that Zelensky was inaugerated; May 20, 2019.

        2. There’s a reason why the House Democrats dropped the idea of alleging “bribery” as one of the articles of impeachment.
The fact that bribery ” would be” a crime isn’t in dispute.

  9. The House managers have presented a credible case that Trump sought political dirt on the Bidens, not because of any real concern about “corruption” in Ukrainian, but to use that information in this year’s election against the person he thought would be his likely opponent. Those efforts continue today as it appears Russian hackers are active hacking into Burisma Holdings computers to dig up political dirt, or plant it, to help Trump. You are aiding in this effort by attacking both Joe Biden and his son: “Hunter Biden not only clearly engaged in influence peddling but is clearly a relevant witness”. You don’t say how, exactly, Hunter’s testimony would be “relevant” to the two articles of impeachment. I think urging Hunter Biden’s testimony is simply a ploy to divert attention away from Trump’s abuse of power. Neither you nor anyone else has made a credible allegation that Hunter engaged in either a corrupt scheme or illegal activity while on the board of Burisma Holdings. But, of course, perceptions matter. Hunter Biden now admits that using his father’s powerful political position to get a lucrative job on the Burisma’s board was a bad decision so he resigned form the board last year.Though unseemly Biden’s actions are common practice in Washington. In defending his son you say: “Joe Biden seems to believe that, as long as it does not violation (sic) the criminal code, it makes it ‘right’ or curiously some how ‘not wrong'”. No doubt Trump’s defense counsel will use this very same argument when they present their case. They will argue that since Trump has not been charged with a violation of the criminal code he did nothing “wrong” that deserves removal from office. So if Hunter did something “wrong” why don’t you apply the same standard to Trump? Calling for Hunter Biden to testify is an exercise in futility on your part. Mitch McConnell doesn’t want Hunter Biden to testify because that would open the floodgates for demands that the really RELEVANT witnesses testify, e.g., John Bolton, et. al..That is not in McConnell’s game plan!

    1. “The House managers have presented a credible case…” LMAO! If that’s your interpretation I SURE hope you’re never on a jury if I’m on trial!

  10. So it is wrong in the same way that Trump hiring McConnell’s wife for his cabinet is wrong?

      1. “That is in no way comparable.” Anonymous @ 5:06

Well, it’s different, perhaps, but the optics aren’t good. And it would seem that conflicts of interest might arise.

        1. It might help if you compare and contrast the circumstances involving Elaine Choa’s 30+ years career as a federal official v. Hunter Biden’s resume and qualifications to serve on the Burisma board.
Choa married Sen. McConnell in 1993, and she had already been a federal official since 1988.
She was Sec. Of Labor for 8 years under Bush 43.
So it’s not like she lacked experience in federal government positions.
She is also a multi- millionare, so she didn’t need the money.
There’s no record of her having a substance abuse problem.
Even “the optics” are not remotley comparable.

          1. Even given her stellar record and accomplishments, what about conflicts of interest?

    1. Elaine Chao had over the period running from 1988 to 2009 spent 12 years in consequential federal executive positions, including eight years as Secretary of Labor and 2 years as Undersecretary of Transportation. She held the latter position before she married McConnell. So, having been Undersecretary of Transportation, it’s your position that she’s unqualified to be Secretary of Transportation?

Tell your handlers at Media Matters not to having you reciting blatantly incompetent analogies. It makes you look like a fool.

      1. “Tell your handlers at Media Matters…”

Honey, you’re the one who looks like a fool.

No one said that she’s not qualified.

One must at least consider the possible conflicts…

        1. Honey, you’re the one who looks like a fool…..One must at least consider the possible conflicts…

Like the ones in your head?

You’re really a piece of work

          1. Excerpt from the NY Times piece:

Mr. McConnell is not the only member of Ms. Chao’s family raising eyebrows. The House Oversight and Reform Committee is investigating the secretary for possible conflicts of interest involving Foremost Group, a New York-based shipping company owned by her father and sisters. Much of the company’s business is centered in China, and the Chao family, The Times reported in June, enjoys “an extraordinary proximity to power in China for an American family, marked not only by board memberships in state companies, but also by multiple meetings with the country’s former top leader.”

The Times noted, “Over the years, Ms. Chao has repeatedly used her connections and celebrity status in China to boost the profile of the company.” In 2017, Ms. Chao’s first official trip to China as a Trump cabinet officer was canceled after ethics concerns about her request to include family members in meetings with Chinese officials were referred to officials in the State and Transportation Departments. The Transportation Department gave no reason for the cancellation at the time, but an official later said the trip conflicted with a scheduled cabinet meeting.

In a Sept. 16 letter, the oversight committee chairman, Elijah Cummings, who died early Thursday, and Raja Krishnamoorthi, head of the subcommittee on economic and consumer policy, reminded Ms. Chao that federal regulations prohibit using one’s public office for “the private gain of friends, relatives, or persons with whom the employee is affiliated in a nongovernmental capacity.”

The committee is also investigating Ms. Chao’s failure last year to divest herself of stock in Vulcan Materials, a producer of construction materials on whose board she served. Before her confirmation in 2017, Ms. Chao signed an ethics agreement to sell her holdings by April 2018. She did not do so until June of this year, just days after The Wall Street Journal reported on the matter. The secretary’s office blames an error by Ms. Chao’s accountant for the lapse.

The committee requested that Ms. Chao provide relevant documents and other information by the end of September. The department has for the most part supplied publicly available material, prompting committee Democrats to consider additional action to compel compliance. Ms. Chao’s office has denied any impropriety and said it will turn over information “on a rolling basis.”

“These false allegations have been hashed over repeatedly in media reports and answered by the department,” said a spokesman. “They are obviously politically motivated.”

Ms. Chao has no official affiliation with or stake in Foremost. But she and Mr. McConnell have benefited handsomely from her family’s good fortunes. In 2008, Ms. Chao’s father gave her and her husband somewhere between $5 and $25 million, according to disclosure reports. Her extended family has contributed more than $1 million to Mr. McConnell’s re-election campaigns.

There is no evidence that Ms. Chao has broken any laws. But the potential for conflict of interest runs deep — in multiple directions. The secretary and the Senate leader have done little to avoid the appearance of unfair play, instead seeming to revel in their role as one of Washington’s pre-eminent power couples.

            1. But the potential for conflict of interest runs deep — in multiple directions.

We are in agreement then that a potential for conflicts of interest merit investigating:

              Hunter Biden
              Joseph Biden
Adam Schiff and his boy Eric Ciaramella
Jerold Nadler and his ties to undermining President Trump from their decades old feuds
Nancy Pelosi and her children for profiting off of her contacts
Elizabeth Warren for being a millionaire because….reasons

get back to us when you finish that report on the above suspicious suspects. You can submit it in Word, double space, 1″ margins, 14 Times New Roman Font, using APA format

              cheers
