NBC/Wall Street Poll: Support For Trump’s Removal Remains Unchanged

It is still unclear what the strategy was for the House leadership in rushing a vote on impeachment by Christmas despite a clearly incomplete case. The assumption is that the leadership wanted to be done by the Iowa caucuses and focus on winning public opinion rather than Senate vote. If so, like the impeachment, it was a demonstrative failure. The most recent polling shows little change in the view of voters on the removal of President Donald Trump. Moreover, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, roughly half (49%) of voters opposed removal while 46% favor removal. In other words, the impeachment left the country as it found it: divided into two equally outraged halves.

Other polls show Trump actually rising in the polls in key states like Pennsylvania.

Almost half of the country is now polling with favorable views of Trump’s performance. With the low ratings on the impeachment trial, the indication is that the impeachment did little to move the public outside of its siloed news sources and fixed views.

  1. Equally puzzling is Adam Schiff’s insistence that the case the House sent to the Senate was air tight based upon the evidence gleaned from the witnesses during the committee hearings; but yet once in the Senate the House Managers were howling that they must have ” witnesses and documents ” in order for their case to move forward?

  2. Pollsters should canvas actual Americans who are entitled to vote in this republic, not invaders, parasites, hyphenates and their wives.

One man, one vote democracy is a restricted-vote republic diluted and vitiated into pure communism under a “dictatorship of the proletariat” – a despot’s nirvana.

  3. If you let me write the questions and choose those who are asked, I can get a poll to say anything you want.

  4. Democrats have a great gift for projection:

Hillary Clinton got fake dirt on her rival from a disgraced former British spy, who got it from the Russians. His own sub source said it was never supposed to be presented as actually true. Her plan was to release it as an October Surprise, when it would be too late to disprove it before the election.

Democrats use it to accuse Trump of colluding with the Russians to cheat in the 2016 election.

Democrats gave the fake Russian provided dossier to the FBI, where Democrat FBI agents lied about its funding, and lied about its veracity, and even lied by changing a CIA email about Carter Page, in order to spy on Trump’s campaign and presidency. Democrat FBI agents discussed via texts their plans to get Trump out of office using their own special access to information and authority.

Democrats accused Trump of wanting to rule like a king and abuse government power.

Democrat Joe Biden strong armed Russia to fire their prosecutor, which benefitted the company that had hired his drug addict son, without any relevant work experience, at 5 times the going rate for an Exon Executive. He bragged about it on camera.

A Democrat operative approached Ukraine in 2016 for help to get dirt on Trump for the election.

When Trump merely asked for Ukraine’s help in the investigation into the 2016 election and Joe Biden’s alleged criminal activity, Democrats accused him of strong arming Ukraine to dig up dirt on his political rival.

Democrats claim they are fighting for the Constitution, while claiming that the President does not make foreign policy, which is his Constitutional right. Then they go after the 2nd Amendment, Free Speech, Freedom of Religion, and the electoral college. But, inexplicably, their followers bleat on that they’re fighting for the Constitution. Ummm, what???

Democrats do this with a straight face because they can be sure a lot of their voters are totally ignorant of the relevant facts, and will trust their word. 5 minutes of research would have laid bare the disparity, but Democrats can, apparently, be trusted not to question their leadership, but follow blindly, even suspending logic and reasoning where required.

When you point out how it’s the Democrats who actually did these crimes, and they’ve been proven, there is radio silence.

  5. There is no way in heck that 46% of the country would support Trump’s removal from office if they had access to any sort of accurate information, from the collapse of the Ukraine quid pro quo false allegation, to the wrongdoing involved, including the fact that the “whistleblower” was a Democrat activist who materially misrepresented a phone call he never heard, and Schiff lying about knowing him, as well as all of Trump’s accomplishments while in office.

Some voters are kept in the dark and uninformed, and not knowing their own ignorance, do not seek out additional information.

    1. Karen opines on misinformed voters while posting her usual nonsense worked up by ignoring facts while repeating falsehoods from bad sources like Parnas pal and Giuliani team member John Solomon.

The WB allegations have been verified by the transcript as well as several 1st person witnesses to the call under oath. The idea that he didn’t do it doesn’t even sell to GOP Senators who in a desperate panic voted for the cover up in exchange for short term gains and a long term Trump stain that many won’t survive.

As to the numbers, 538 has 49.5% favoring trumps removal and the WSJ/NBC poll JT cited has him being beat by all the major democratic candidates. Hard to get elected when half the population wants you removed for cause.

      1. bythebook – unsubstantiated allegations.

I’ve read the transcripts. Perhaps you should, too.

        1. Karen, I’ve read the transcript, the WB complaint, and heard the witnesses to the call. I suggest you do as well and tell us what the WB had wrong.

I also read John Solomon’s email to Parnas asking him if his anti-Ambassador Yovannovitch article would be what the team was looking for.

          1. the wb should be helping the President not stabbing him in the back.

the CIA shouldn’t be plotting to overthrow an American president, at the very least, although they’ve had lots of practice doing it abroad

pathetic saboteurs, chicanery, backstabbers, total losers!

          2. I’m not talking about the transcript of the phone call, but rather transcripts of the witnesses’ testimony before the House.

            Try that.

Also, Ambassadors serve at the pleasure of the President. Yovanovitch was actively working against Trump, and Zelensky didn’t like her, hence she was not allowed to continue. The Executive Branch sets foreign policy, and Yovanovitch was opposed to Trump.

            1. “Yovanovitch was actively working against Trump…”

What is your proof, Karen S?

            2. “Zelensky’s criticism of the U.S. ambassador wasn’t out of the blue, as Trump claimed. It was prompted by Trump himself. Zelensky noted that Trump was “the first one who told me that she was a bad ambassador,” a line that sounds straight out of a hostage video.

We were on the fence between Three and Four Pinocchios. But we’ve yet to see any evidence that Yovanovitch was failing at her job or abetting bad actors, as Trump claimed. That, plus his incorrect attribution of Zelensky’s comments, merits Four Pinocchios for Trump.

              Four Pinocchios”

              https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/11/06/trumps-false-claim-about-what-ukrainian-president-said-about-us-ambassador/

            3. Karen, I watched most of the witnesses who appeared before the House committee’s and the 1st person witnesses to the phone call corroborated the WB complaint. You are obviously confused and should read the complaint, the phone call transcript, and the witness transcripts.

Ambassador Yovanovitch was opposed by Lutsenko, the Prosecutor before Zelensky took over and because she was tough on corruption. He promised dirt and investigation into Biden if Guliani would orchestrate her removal. John Solomon began smearing her in columns soon thereafter, at one point emailing Parnas asking his opinion on one of them before publication. This is all in the recent documents Parnas released and you should read them also.

There are still 9 months to the election. If its needed they will find a way for the witnesses to testify and provide that information. Right now a lot of people assume that because the witnesses did not testify their testimony would incriminate trump.

      1. In the transcripts, one can read all about how the witnesses were denied agency counsel. Jordan pushed back on this. Schiff lied about this being the norm. Jordan returned with examples of how previous witnesses on other cases had plenty of counsel.

Also, Trump was to be denied privilege. They wanted access to his emails, phone conversations, and his inner circle, past and present. Those people would not be granted agency counsel. In effect, it was a taxpayer funded deep dive to try to get any kind of dirt possible on Trump before the election.

Republicans are terrible at reaching voters who watch MSM, so this information will likely never reach them. All they will hear about is how the case was “proven”, just like when Schiff lied and claimed he’d seen evidence that proved Trump was working with the Russians. They will hear the oft repeated meme that the fight over witnesses means Trump was guilty. It’s not like the MSM is going to go through the testimony and report how Democrats wanted to get dirt on Trump by abusing their authority.

If people actually read the transcripts, then they could correct their false assumptions, fanned on by the MSM. But you have too look for them, and get through all the back and forth baloney.

And, boy, did Schiff look bad during the House part of this process. When you read how he cut off Republicans, and even outright lied on numerous occasions. It’s pretty bad.

        1. Karen demonstrates her uncritical acceptance of right wing talking points.

The House committee’s operated under he same rules adopted by the GOP controlled 2015 House. Trump would have been allowed WH counsel before the Judiciary Committee, which was the official impeachment committee, but not the Intelligence Committee which was investigative.

Meanwhile, Cipilone repeatedly and falsely stated thAt Republican members were not allowed in the basement depositions. Those of us who listened to much of the Senate hearing know Trump did it, and that includes the GOP Senators. By the way, Schiff was widely praised for his presentation, including even from Lindsey Graham. Karen must have been watching one of those You Tube channels for her news.

          1. Emotional argument, declaration of opinion as fact, and personal insults. Typical.

Just look at the great lengths Democrats have gone to in order to obstruct an investigation into the alleged criminal activity of their political candidate.

Meanwhile, Trump has been continuously investigated since 2016. The hypocrisy and wrongdoing is astonishing.

            1. Just look at the great lengths Democrats have gone to in order to obstruct an investigation into the alleged criminal activity of their political candidate.
              _______________________________________

If you have evidence that Democrats have obstructed a legal investigation of criminal activity, you should take that information to the Trump’s DOJ so that the perpetrators can be prosecuted.

      2. very soon nobody will remember the details and it will just be another failed coup like the Meuller thing.

Well there is certainly plenty of fog by the MSM but I don’t think many people see thru it. The Mueller investigation was the Trump administration investigating itself. The MSM did a good job of obscuring that simple fact from the public.

For example, the MSM is still promoting the ridiculous story that when Don McGahn testifies he will prove that Trump was guilty of obstruction. The fact is when Don McGahn finally does testify before Congress he will argue convincingly that Trump did absolutely nothing to obstruct justice.

  6. There is one big issue here. The public wants their tv channels back. Schiff’s puss has made the nation sick.

    1. Just think. Britons can wave their own flags, they don’t have to waste pallets of taxpayer cash on moving the seat of the EU monthly, and their policies are answerable to British votes. What a concept, have a country of their very own where the people have a say in its decisions rather than unanswerable EU bureaucrats. The elites do so love to rule without answering to anyone.

And, yes, the vicious rhetoric towards British working class is eerily similar to that of woke elites towards Trump voters and blue collar workers who don’t vote as they’re told.

I recently heard a screeching screed from someone I know, a highly educated person, on social media. It was unhinged and hysterical, and quite vicious towards Trump voters. Her information on the Trump impeachment was so far off base there is no way she could have watched any of it or read a single document, other than the Democrats’ spurious arguments. I cannot imagine she would want our justice system to run this way. It was shockingly enraged, hateful, and ignorant.

    2. Nigel Farage’s farewell speech to the EU was cut off because he had the British flag. Member countries may display their own flags. Imagine that, being barred from speaking because you have a tiny flag of your own country in your hand. Do not let bureaucrat elites control your country in their quest for global power.

      https://youtu.be/RBMvZRf9Scs

It is patently absurd for elites to claim that there’s no way for countries to smoothly function with each other in trade without giving up their sovereignty. Somehow the US manages to heel-toe through it without trouble.

    3. the sane working class people need to tackle the global elitists head on.

like head on a pike head on

then things will simmer down. and never, without it.

      1. The elites want globalism because they believe they will be in control. No more pesky peasants having any say, waving their flags, or threatening to vote people out of office if they don’t like, say, their immigration open border policy.

        1. Karen, what you call globalism is a realistic and forward-looking attempt to deal with a now shrunk world where global events are as critical as local ones, and informed by the failure of nationalism we experienced in the 1st half of the 20th century. Alliances made after those disasters have resulted in 75 years of relative peace and prosperity on a global scale. Who in their right mind would seek to return to those days?

It is deflating to realize we are each only one in a nation of over 300 million and a world of 8 billion, but there is strength in those numbers and we now live in a world wealthier and healthier than any other time in our species several hundred years of existence. We face very serious environmental problems, and always the threat of war, made more so due to.nuclear weapons, but our best bet on controlling those threats is not through free wheeling power bargaining by nationalistic states, but by creating and maintaining alliances and adherence to world standards for civilized and unifying behavior. There really is no other viable options.

I welcome your serious thoughts on this issue, as I do Kurtz if he returns.

            ******************
What are these environmental threats and nuclear war risks caused by anything done by the US government or anyone lawfully in it?

No but it’s damn relevant to your unsubstantiated allegation. that’s why I asked it. It’s not self-evident, you know.

  7. Trump’s removal will come in November, the cult just does not have the numbers. The elections of 2018 proved that. After November, and the American people find out what kind of self-serving con-man they had, removal from office will be the least of his concerns. And since the republicans have crowned him King Donald the first, and above all law, his pals in Russia, North Korea, China, and Turkey who have the most to lose without him will help out as much as they can.

    1. we’ll see about that Fishhead

see if you can get all your stoners off the couch come November. more than ever will be high as a kite every day

while sober normal people turn out like so many phalanxes

      we’ll see

  8. The real fun will begin when Sanders’ supporters boil over because the DNC and the MSM have dropped all pretense and are actively trying to screw him again. If they are successful look for Bernie to deliver a major F-U to the DNC and run a third party campaign.

  9. “In other words, the impeachment left the country as it found it: divided into two equally outraged halves.”
    *******************
The only outrage I see is in the population in the shadow of the Capitol, the media and some select college campuses where radicals rule the roost. Most folks watch, go about their lives and wait for November to separate the wheat from the weeds. Ought to be quite the reckoning. Testing the common sense of the American people never works out well.

  10. And yet Biden cannot seem to raise a crowd in Iowa, but Bernie, who is going to get the shaft, can.

  11. A look back at the past week or two of the trial, shows Trump going about the business of improving our lives while Nadler and Schiff argue over who is the impeachment boss. It was really very comical.

    1. Name one thing tRump did to improve the life of an average American or an indication of a power play between Schiff and Nadler. Too many liars on this site, you’ll fit in well.

      1. My husband and I have been able to give much more to our favorite charities; we’ve saved more money monthly than ever before and have been happier than under Obama who wouldn’t even give seniors a cost of living raise for most of his years as President. My neighbors have had the same quality of life improvement. One owns a small business which struggled under Obama’s entire two terms. They are now lifted off food stamps and were even able to buy their teen a car. I could go on and on but you are stuck on spoon-fed talking points. If you didn’t notice on the last day of trial Nadler was not there. That is because Friday he ran to the mike to give the last word. Schiff was behind him yelling “Jerry! Jerry! Jerry! It’s on YouTube, look it up. They are unhinged because lies fail.

      2. “did to improve the life of an average American”

        1. defeated Hillary: worth every second
        2. exposed unequivocally the lying, fake news media
        3. divided the DNC marvelously
        4. brought down Hunter and Joe Biden
        5. established America as the rightful leader of the world
        6. moved to the embassy of Israel to Jerusalem
        7. facilitated Brexit
        8. rallied Americans to believe there is hope
        9. changed the direction of the country from far Left to moderate
        10. pissed your ilk off <—– priceless!

I could go on but you don't have enough psych meds to last you through the day
