Covidiots: Coronavirus Challenges and Parties Lead To New Cases Across The Country

Just when you thought that we were on the right side of the evolutionary curve, pictures emerge of students jamming Florida beaches and others videotaping themselves licking toilets and doorknobs as part of “coronavirus challenges.” It is tempting to shrug and say that this is an efficient way to thin the herd of morons but, of course, these young people are putting more vulnerable people at risk. They however are not immune. One toilet licker has come down with the virus and a “coronavirus party” has led to transmission.

We discussed today how police are how ratcheting up charges for pranks and challenges posted on social media as “terroristic threats.” It still comes as a cost. The “coughing prank” has led a store to throw out $35,000 in produce that is badly needed in this crisis.

Some of these individuals however are likely undeterred. In bizarre TikTok footage, people are shown licking toilet bowls. One such man according to Piers Morgan is now in treatment.

Another TikTok character explained her video licking an airplane toilet seat by telling Metro : “I was tired of that b***h corona getting more publicity than ME. I’m the real celebrity.”

Others have decided to gather for moronic moments. At least one person in Kentucky is now infected after taking part at a “coronavirus party.”

This all explains the latest coined term: Covidiot, or “someone who ignores the warnings regarding public health or safety.”

  1. Making jokes is a coping mechanism, whihc is fine to a certain point. You can make fun all you want, but when the virus affects you or your loved ones or your job, you won’t go on TikTok to have a laugh. You’ll go on job sites. My advice is to look for a job right now.     Zinc has been shown to decrease virus replication. While in first world countries zinc intake may seem adequate (except in the elderly), absorption requires sufficient stomach acid, which can be decreased by PPIs and stress.

    Is zinc supplementation an adjunct therapy for COVID-19 infections?

    3. Thanks, Anonymous. The only deception in Priorities video was the soundbite where Trump refers to the “hoax”. Trump was referring to warnings from Democrats and not the actual virus itself. However, had he thought the virus was serious, Trump would not have used the term ‘hoax’ in that particular context.

      It’s hard to see how the Trump campaign really has a lawsuit here.

He muddied the waters a few minutes later, however, by comparing the number of coronavirus fatalities in the U.S. (none, at that point in time) to the number of fatalities during an average flu season, and accusing the press of being in “hysteria mode”:

        “So a number that nobody heard of that I heard of recently and I was shocked to hear it, 35,000 people on average die each year from the flu. Did anyone know that? 35,000. That’s a lot of people.         For his part, Trump later defended his comments by stating he was indeed calling out the Democrats’ efforts to blame him and his administration for what they have characterized as an inadequate response “because we’ve done such a good job.”

        Trump did however downplay the scale of the virus and the danger it posed to the public. At the time he made his remarks, the U.S. had 57 confirmed coronavirus cases, 40 of which came from the Diamond Princess cruise ship, which experienced an outbreak of the virus. And health officials were warning that the spread of the virus domestically was “inevitable.”

    President Trump’s reelection campaign is threatening legal action against television stations in key battleground states if they continue airing an ad cut by the liberal super PAC Priorities USA alleging that the president called the coronavirus a “hoax.”

    Alex Cannon, the legal counsel for Trump’s reelection campaign, sent a letter to television stations in key battleground states where the ad is running demanding they “cease and desist” from airing the ad if they want to “avoid costly and time consuming litigation.”

    Priorities USA is putting $6 million behind the ad, which is running on television stations in Florida, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

    The ad, which is titled “Exponential Threat,” splices together different audio clips of Trump downplaying the virus over a graphic showing the number of cases on the rise.

    “The coronavirus, this is their new hoax,” Trump says in the ad. “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. One day it’s like a miracle, it will disappear. When you have 15 people and within a couple of days is gonna be down to close to zero. We really think we’ve done a great job in keeping it down to a minimum. I like this stuff. I really get it. People are surprised that I understand. No, I don’t take responsibility.”

    However, fact-checkers at The Washington Post, Snopes, Politifact and FactCheck.org have said it’s wrong to claim that Trump called the virus a hoax.

    Instead, Trump’s full quote reveals that he was describing Democratic efforts to politicize the virus.

    “Coronavirus. They’re politicizing it,” Trump said in February. “We did one of the great jobs. You say, ‘How’s President Trump doing?’ ‘Oh, nothing, nothing.’ They have no clue. They don’t have any clue. … And this is their new hoax. But you know we did something that’s been pretty amazing.

        It was Health And Human Services Secretary Alex Azar who recommended that Ttump suspend flights from China. However major airlines had already suspended flights by January 31 when Trump made the announcement.
