The continued growth is due primarily to our loyal readers who return every day to discuss contemporary legal, political, and occasionally bizarre stories. We have used these moments to give thanks for our many regular readers around the world and give you an idea of the current profile of readers on the blog. We continue to rank in the top legal blogs in the world and I am particularly proud of our growing international readership. As always, I want to offer special thanks for Darren Smith who has continued to help manage the blog and help out folks who encounter posting problems.

So here is our current profile:

Yesterday, we also passed 19,000 posts — an amazing figure. We have also experienced a huge increase in those following us by email and Twitter. On Twitter alone, we have over 160,000 active followers.

  1. I read the blog every day and comment too often. I am facetious and joking sometimes. I was a civil rights lawyer before I retired at age 56 and I have a great interest in the topics here. I am not in favor of any candidate for the Presidency and am too critical on that topic. When the election is over and the virus has tuned down we can focus more on the practice of law and our various courts.

    1. Liberty2nd– I may not agree always but I enjoy what you write. Speaking of the practice of law, although I am of retirement age, I am still practicing because I still love it. But, yesterday, I had my first hearing via Zoom and I hated it. I need the feel and smell of a courtroom and an ability to watch body language and tone of voice, all of which is missing when everyone is talking to a computer screen. I think you retired at a good time.

  7. Yes, I do remember when Turley would write about corrupt cops, lawyers, prosecutors, and judges that got paid for putting people in private prisons. Dirty cops that would get caught planting evidence and shootings that were not justified. That’s the Turley that I liked to read. Sadly, of he has become a political hack for Barr and Trump. I do not take pleasure in that finding, but most people know BS when they see it. And lately, he’s been piling it up really good for everyone to see.

    2. FishWings, when I first started commenting here, Professor Turley would diligently note every unwise tweet and statement by Trump. And sometimes the Trumpers here would spend all morning skewering Turley because he wasn’t the sycophant they wanted him to be.

      But everything changed when Trump appointed William Barr as Attorney General. Turley wrote a column hailing Barr as a lawyer of the highest integrity. And tellingly Turley mentioned that Barr was a close, personal friend.

      From that moment on it seemed Turley was noting Trump mistakes far less often, until he finally stopped all together. Most recently, Turley has literally been running distraction columns on days when Trump is crazier than usual. ..It’s all very disappointing..!

    3. I don’t always agree with his views, but he’s the most honest/objective/non-partisan opinion writer I have found. Whether he’s for or against my views, he’s always worth reading. To bad that some label him a “hack” when they don’t like his opinions…. but it’s their loss.

    2. Generational Welfare, Affirmative Action Privilege and all other forms of redistribution of wealth and confiscation and/or control of private property are unconstitutional.

      It is distinctly constitutional and absolutely not unconstitutional to be paranoid or supreme, understanding that property damage and bodily injury are illegal and criminally actionable.

    1. I ran a Catholic list in the 1990s using majordomo on someone else’s server (Shout out to Richard Chonak). Lurkers comprised about 90% of the subscribers to my list. Always direct your comments to the lurkers for they are very much present

  15. JT’s site has become one of my go-to’s for analysis on the events of the day. I don’t always agree, of course, but I always see the effort Jonathon Turley makes to tell what he believes is the truth based on Constitutional principles and the law. I now cite what Turley says as often as I do what others have to say on a given topic. I look forward to the next 19,000 posts.

    1. Judge Sullivan is the personification of the rationale adopted by the American Founders for inclusion of impeachment and conviction in the Constitution.
