Yesterday I wrote about the curious effort by some in politics and the media to portray “Russians” or “White Supremacists” as driving the rioting in various cities. The role of anarchists and Antifa members was obvious — and reinforced by arrests reported in various cities. This gold encrusted arrestee is Matthew Lee Rupert, 28, who was arrested in Chicago trying to pass out explosives — allegedly much like the two attorneys arrested in New York. The evidence includes a videotape on which Rupert states “we came to riot.”
Rupert is an “outsider” though far short of Moscow. He lives in Galesburg, Illinois.
The prosecutors filed a complaint stating “In the video, Rupert passes out explosive he indicates he possessed, encourages others to throw his explosives at law enforcement officers, actively damages property, appears to light a fire a building on fire and loots businesses in Minneapolis.”
Rupert tried to hand out the explosives and is quoted as telling another individual “light that bitch and throw it at them.” The other individual did just that and threw the explosive at the police. Rupert seemed to claim in court that these were fireworks, which could be a significant defense against the more serious charges if proven. His political views are unknown currently.
It is clear that radicals are flocking to hot spots to foster rioting and attacks on police. It is also likely that, particularly on the Internet foreign and white supremacists and other groups are fueling the rioting. Some white supremacists are likely to also be present at these riots. However, the notion that the riots are primarily or substantially the result of such groups is implausible. The rioting was too spontaneous and widespread to fit such a theory. Police are reporting the arrest of many from anarchist and Antifa groups in various cities, as discussed in the earlier column.
Minneapolis mayor asks for $55 million federal bailout. Screw him and his pathological city government. I would favor disaster grants or loans to small businesses not insured and hurt by the thugs the mayor let roam the streets, but nothing for the city itself. It seems filled with woke corruptocrats.
Rioting a State Offense but Explosives brings in ATF as a federal offense. For the crime of stupidity leave it up tot he jury as it may involve others – like the parents.

The revelation that Floyd had Covid-19, the Wuhan virus, is significant. Damage from the virus is greater for those who are fat, hypertensive and have cardiovascular complications, all of which Floyd had topped off with a combination of potentially lethal drugs.
Damage to the lungs has been seen in a number of recovered patients. One must wonder if lung deterioration can be added to the growing list of alternate pathways leading to the death of this criminal.

It seems pretty clear that none of Floyd’s various co-morbidities, what ever they may have been, had anything at all to do with his death. About the only thing that is clear is that he died as a result of his run-in with Derek Chauvin.
But here’s one other thing that’s unclear: what was Chauvin’s motive in dragging an unarmed hand-cuffed man to the ground and pressing his knee into the back of his neck for seven-plus minutes? If you claim it’s because Chauvin was a racist, then you are simply making an assumption about something for which none of us has any evidence.
A vast assortment of despicable miscreants on twitter, on the streets, and in our grossly incompetent news media jumped to precisely that conclusion, and as a result there are numerous additional, pointless deaths of protesters, bystanders, and law enforcement officers, there has been tremendous property damage.
For what? The number of unarmed black men killed by police has become infinitesimally small — 9 in 2019, 3 if you discount the number that were actually fleeing from police. One could say, with only mild hyperbole, that an unarmed, law-abiding black man is more likely to be killed by lightning or by a shark attack than he is by a police officer. Nine dead black men at the hands of other black men, on the other hand, counts a relatively tame weekend in the south side of Chicago. Black Lives Matter doesn’t think that all black lives matter, and if they want black men killed at an even higher rate, then by all means, yes, defund the police.

Minneapolis – A medical examiner’s finding that George Floyd had drugs in his system when he died is a “red herring” designed to draw attention away from the responsibility of a Minneapolis police officer who pressed his knee into Floyd’s neck for several minutes, even after he stopped moving, an attorney for Floyd’s family said Tuesday.
Attorney Ben Crump also disputed an official autopsy that found Floyd’s death was caused by cardiac arrest as police restrained him and compressed his neck in a widely seen video that has sparked worldwide protests. The medical examiner also listed fentanyl intoxication and recent methamphetamine use, but not as the cause of death.
A separate autopsy commissioned for Floyd’s family concluded that that he died of asphyxiation due to neck and back compression.
“The cause of death was that he was starving for air. It was lack of oxygen. And so everything else is a red herring to try to throw us off,” Crump said Tuesday. He said the Hennepin County medical examiner went to great lengths to try to convince the public that what was shown on bystander video didn’t cause Floyd to die.
“It is an attempt to assassinate his character, after they assassinated him right then on the video,” he said.
Floyd, a black man who was in handcuffs at the time, died May 25 after Derek Chauvin, who is white, ignored bystander shouts to get off Floyd and Floyd’s cries that he couldn’t breathe. -Detroit News

The Case Against Officer Derek Chauvin Is Anything But Solid
The death of George Floyd after an interaction with the Minneapolis Police Department has rocked the world and while everyone reading this believes that an officer that put his knee in the back of Floyd’s neck for close to nine minutes was the cause of death, the facts and evidence are anything but that.
The Western Journal of Emergency Medicine says that “Excited delirium is characterized by agitation, aggression, acute distress and sudden death, often in the pre-hospital care setting. It is typically associated with the use of drugs Subjects typically die from a heart attack and the majority of the patients die before hospital arrival.”
And combined with methamphetamine, studies indicate that fentanyl has a higher chance of inducing fatal hyperthermia. And it just so happens that hyperthermia has a direct correlation with excited delirium.
Fentanyl is also unique among the opioids in its ability to cause muscle rigidity of the chest wall, diaphragm, and larynx. Known as “wooden chest syndrome,” it’s safe to say that the combination of this drug is a recipe for heart stoppage.
The American College of Emergency Physicians’ White Paper Report on Excited Delirium Syndrome recommends two specific responses by law enforcement if they observe signs of excited delirium.
Stating that “Deescalation does not have a high likelihood of changing outcomes significantly”
“The subjects require physical restraint (this is because if they continue to struggle it accelerates the death) combined with emergent sedation.”
“Once the decision to do this has been made, action needs to be swift and efficient, and performed with all responders present when feasible.”

Squeeky– Good article. Basically what I have been arguing at length. With these facts they cannot demonstrate that Floyd did not die from something other than restraint. He had too many pathways to quick death that should not be ignored. No proof beyond a reasonable doubt.
His big problem now is getting a fair trial and the media and governor and mayor, attorney general and maybe judges will likely do what they can to see that he doesn’t.
The motion for a change of venue should be interesting.
