Res Ipsa Hits 42,000,000

crowd vj dayToday, we passed the 42,000,000 mark in views on the blog. The blog continues to grow at a record pace. The continued growth is due primarily to our loyal readers who return every day to discuss contemporary legal, political, and occasionally bizarre stories. We have used these moments to give thanks for our many regular readers around the world and give you an idea of the current profile of readers on the blog. 1. Thank you J.T. for all your endeavours.

  2. Congrats, Turley. Big number there. Time to renogotiate your 3 article a day rate with your handlers with such a big audience!

  3. 42…million. Life, the universe…everything!

    Great blog, Professor Turley!

  4. In this unbalanced world, your commentary shines through with carefully considered and sane lucidity. Such a relief! Thank you for generously sharing your thoughts!

  5. I’m glad to see that this blog continues to grow. In these times when free speech is under constant threat, it’s good to know that there’s a place to read the important legal issues of the day, to comment on them, to read the comments of others, and to express different viewpoints about them. Prof. Turley and Darren Smith do an excellent job of keeping things open, yet civil, and we should be thankful for their work, regardless of any differences of opinion we may have.

As many here know, the Latin phrase “Res ipsa loquitur” is from Cicero. Here are some other words of wisdom from Cicero.

    “While there’s life, there’s hope.”
“The safety of the people shall be the highest law.”
“Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all others.”
“A room without books is like a body without a soul.”
“If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.”
“Live as brave men; and if fortune is adverse, front its blows with brave hearts.”
“Silence is one of the great arts of conversation.”

    1. I’m astounded that you think they keep comments civil here. Insults abound here, and I’ve commented on sites that do a much better job of keeping comments civil.

      1. I believe that the majority of posters here engage in civil discussions. As with many things, there are exceptions, of course. And as for those who choose to post insults, even the casual reader here will pick up on which posters do that as their primary type of communication; so, they are easy to skip over if you don’t want to read them. In any event, I much prefer open dialogue over censored comments.

    1. David, I saw that story and founded it interesting. Vultures are more useful than we thought.

  6. A good place to request that the Civility Rule either be enforced or that that page be modified or deleted to reflect the site’s current policy on “personal attacks” and on any other content that the site intends to monitor (e.g., racist comments, homophobic comments, religiously bigoted comments).

You can’t grasp the scope and breadth of American freedom.

      You are a “denier.”

Sorry, comrade. Your communist oppression and dictatorship end at the Constitution. Understanding that property damage and bodily injury are universally illegal, freedom of speech, thought, religion, belief, opinion, assembly (including its inverse, disassembly and peaceable segregation), the press, publication, the immutable exclusive right to private property (unqualified by the Constitution and, therefore, absolute), and every other conceivable natural and God-given right, freedom, privilege and immunity per the 9th Amendment, prevail unfettered in America.

      1. LOL that you think I’m a communist, and SMH that you don’t understand that this site isn’t a government site, and Turley’s right to delete comments is among the rights “retained by the people.” I simply asked him to update his policy so it accurately reflects his current thinking about it and to enforce whatever it is.

    2. Commit, you should know that a certain old man has the right to be as abusive as he wants on these comment threads. And Darren will delete any comments hitting back at that old man. This has been a pattern for more than 2 years.

      1. Seth, I don’t know what “old man” you’re referring to. I don’t know the ages of any of the people I see posting insults, racist comments, etc., and I don’t assume that they’re all men.

        1. Commit:
Well, Seth is continually bested by TIA intellectually so he attacks him where he thinks he can. Childish to be sure, but what else can Seth do? He’s kinda pathetic in the argument department.

Do you want some cheese with all that whine or do your relish perpetually aggrieved status? “Run, tell mommy” is a bad look even on beta males. And that takes some doing.

      1. LOL that you characterize Turley as “mommy” here. I’d think you’d at least call him “dad.” Also LOL that you think wanting him to either enforce his own current rules or update them or even delete them entirely is somehow childish. Maybe you don’t understand how “either/or” works.

And what makes you think I’m male?

  7. Congratulations! Hoping for more future success for you. Your column is one of few places left for objective, level headed discussion.

  8. A good place to once again request
    Darren Smith
to assist Squeeky Fromm with her inability to post.

  9. I’ve “met” a lot of interesting, intelligent people here. Thank you for providing this forum. The only thing that would make it better is if Squeeky was back.

  10. How many are reading today? Each of you add a comment here. Maybe we will get 300.
Let’s do the math. 42 million divided by 365.
