CNN Analyst and Yale Lecturer Asha Rangappa Under Fire For Doxxing A Journalism Intern

200px-yale_university_shield_1svgRecently, we discussed a bizarre attack by CNN Legal Analyst and Yale lecturer Asha Rangappa on former Ambassador Nikki Haley for using her middle name.  Rangappa declared that the use of “Nikki” rather than her real first name was proof that America is racist and Haley was yielding to it.  Nikki however is Haley’s legal middle name and the Hill’s Saagar Enjeti noted it is “a Punjabi name.” Moreover, Rangappa also uses her middle name as have leaders from Mitch Romney to Boris Johnson. Now Rangappa is under fire for doxxing a young intern who wrote Yale about the incident. Twitter took down Rangappa’s tweet and the CNN Analyst then suggested that the doxxing incident was fun.To recap the controversy, Nikki Haley gave a speech at the RNC and lashed out that it is

“now fashionable to say that America is racist. That is a lie. America is not a racist country. This is personal for me. I am the proud daughter of Indian immigrants. They came to America and settled in a small Southern town. My father wore a turban. My mother wore a sari. I was a Brown girl in a Black and White world. We faced discrimination and hardship. But my parents never gave in to grievance and hate. My mom built a successful business. My dad taught 30 years at a historically black college. And the people of South Carolina chose me as their first minority and first female governor. America is a story that’s a work in progress. Now is the time to build on that progress, and make America even freer, fairer, and better for everyone.”

That speech led to an immediate personal attack from Rangappa that Haley bowed to racism by dropping her real name: “Right. Is that why you went from going by Nimrata to ‘Nikki’?” Rangappa asked.

In addition, South Asians for Biden attacked Haley and  tweeted, “If America isn’t racist, why did Nimarata Haley feel compelled to change her name to ‘Nikki’? Maybe just the Republican Party is?” The group added “#PhonyNikki.” (The tweet was later withdrawn with an apology over its “tone”).

A young intern Washington Free Beacon intern asked Yale for comment about the controversy since Rangappa is also director of admissions in theJackson Institute.  She referred to an article in a conservative publication detailing how Rangappa also uses her middle name while labeling Haley as a type of racist shill.

That inquiry apparently set off Rangappa who tweeted a screenshot of the Yale comment that contained Alex Nester’s mobile phone number and email.  That might have been done innocently without realizing the inclusion of the information, but Rangappa eliminated any doubt by encouraging  her more than 600,000 followers  to “Feel free to respond to Alex.”  This was presented as a tit for tat because “@FreeBeacon has now contacted my employer.” Her followers did precisely as Rangappa suggested until Twitter took down Rangappa doxxing tweet.

Rather than apologize, Rangappa mocked the effort of Twitter to protect the intern and accused Nester of trying to “Karen me at my job,” a term viewed by many as a slur for a white woman. Rangappa declared “Getting a Twitter warning felt like the first time I got detention as a senior in high school!” and compared it to “going to Taco Bell with my best friend during study hall.”

We have previously discussed controversies surrounding Rangappa, who is a former associate dean of Yale Law School.  Much of this prior coverage concerns analysis that was criticized as deeply flawed and overtly biased (here and here and here). While Rangappa has claimed that her analysis has been misinterpreted, she has been quick to offer legal analysis to support narratives against the Administration or for its critics. For example, the former FBI employee was proven wrong in claiming that the memoranda removed by Comey were merely “personal recollections” after the FBI and other offices declared them not just FBI official material but potentially classified.

download-1The incident highlights the troubling double standard applied to such attacks using the race or ethnicity of another person.  After falsely and hypocritically attack Haley as a racist shill, Rangappa not only doxxed a young intern but used a racial term to attack the intern.   Notably, the Jackson Institute declares that it teaches students to “tackle challenges with wisdom, facts, insight, and courage.” Those appear purely aspirational concepts in this incident.

  1. It seems that getting rid of a tenured college professor that has no decency is no easier than getting rid of a corrupt judge that takes his orders from Obama.

  2. Admittedly when I moved to Wales from America i used my middle name precisely because it was Welsh. Identification because I loved the people. People use middle names for many reasons.

But that is irrelevant. Nikki isn’t short for Nicole. A ten second google by anyone connected to the professor or the Indiana for Biden could have avoided pigpiling. It sad. The professor clearly doxing a reporter and then dismissing her as a “Karen”…is sickening. But tenure makes people secure in their own blind spots.

Does racism exist? Yes. Is the goal to learn and grow together or to bludgeon others so we gain power? Sadly these days where politics is religion, I think it’s the power goal, nothing less.

  3. I wish i could use a doxxing just to say I understand the problem, but the answer lies within the ten solutions.

In most cases quiet is especially useful.

  4. So do we not care about the crucifixion of American hero Mike Flynn anymore? Or are the abuses by the corrupt judiciary too egregious to address?

    1. Mr Turkey – Does doxxing as in this case warrant sanction of any sort? I frankly support others’ comments/efforts to reform libel law to end the Sullivan rule on public personalities. It doesn’t have an obvious fit with doxxing, though. Still, it seems something must be legislated to hold doxxers accountable, particularly when the target is a minor. Interested in your thoughts.

  5. Here is what the MSM, the Republicans, and every single person paying attention needs to shout from the rooftops: Joe Biden, and the completely dishonest ads/videos his campaign is spouting needs to be called out for his outrageous lies. Joe Biden is a lying as*hole. A LYING ASS*Hole. Shout it loud and do not stop. Kamala Harris is a ruthless, lying, opportunist. She should never hold power over the people. Not ever.

With a completely dishonest and corrupt, biased media we are in big trouble America.

Vote like everything you believe in depends on it, because it does.

    1. Ck Harris’ family ties as Slavers, both sides, Harris using her Cali AG office to EnSlave Blacks doing time & holding them over their sentence so the state could use them as slaves & why it is Blacks hate Her worst then almost anyone.

Other then that & a bunch of other stuff I think Biden made a fine pick for VP.

BTW: At this time I’ll still be supporting Trump! 😉

    2. Kamela Harris’ parents were not U.S. citizens at the time of her birth. She’s not eligible.

      1. Correct, that’s a major legal problem.

65 days & we’ll all see the outcome.

Look out for more false flag ops against peace Americans by her Ahole friends.

        1. A “citizen” is eligible for Senate and Congress.

A “citizen” is not eligible for President.

A “natural born citizen” is the only grade of citizen eligible for President.
          ________________________________________________________

If Kamela Harris IS a “natural born citizen,” who IS NOT?

      1. Yes! Trump 2020! Let’s bring a Trump/Pence Electoral victory AND the Popular Vote this time! We must turn out to give Trump a decisive victory! We can do this! VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!

  6. A representative list of other notable conservative racists who prefer going by their middle name:

    Christopher Ashton Kutcher
    William Bradley Pitt
    Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon
    Hannah Dakota Fanning
    John William Ferrell
    James Paul McCartney
    Marvin Neil Simon
    Walter Bruce Willis
    Mary Elle Fanning
    Robyn Rihanna Fenty
    Henry Warren Beatty
    Thomas Sean Connery
    Joseph Rudyard Kipling
    George Orson Welles

Yep, haters one and all. Here’s another idea: let’s poke fun of people who speak with an accent! (I’ve taught my kids that someone who speaks with an accent knows at least one more language than you do)

    1. kydave: Great comment!

However, Joseph R. Kipling has been labeled a hater, and he’s taken over a century’s worth of abuse from libtards who view everything from their narrow, self-centered, and increasingly mentally unhinged point of view.

  7. Faculties are chock-a-block with garbage people who have signed dissertations. We live in a decadent age.

    1. Yes, but Princeton and Yale have declined and fallen into ideological darkness in especially decadent and irrational ways. And they influence legions of public universities. And they are blind to the damage they do, as the elite often are.

  8. Oh my, I suppose when 17 year olds take Kurtz’s advice and wander the streets looking of trouble to fire at counter balancing crisis is hard to find, Turley?

    1. I didn’t advise 17 year olds to do any such thing. Just law abiding citizens to mutually organize for self defense. It’s amazing a 17 year old had the courage and skills to do what Kyle Rittenhouse did. It’s a shame to the local men in their 20s and 30s that this kid beat them to the punch, so to speak, or that he was out there physically distant from his compatriots, attracting the aggravated assaults the way he did, that he was the only one to open fire. Seems to me like his one gun barking its lawful reply should have been 20 guns firing in unison.

Failure to maintain law and order will be met with further acts of lawful citizen organization and public patrol, and lawful acts of self defense. That’s not a threat, it is merely a prediction. See how it works out and let me know if I was wrong, come Christmas.

Kyle will have a fat commissary account come Xmas if he’s still locked up. Plenty of candy bars and ramen to pass out to his fellow prisoners to demonstrate his generosity and celebrate together.
      That’s a prediction too.

I read that one of the aggressors whose assault he terminated, was a pedo convicted sex offender. Guess what? In prison Kyle will be a hero for that one, too. And out here. Kyle’s righteous!

now one can quibble about him being out there in the first place, in general I don’t favor this duty for a 17 year old. One could quibble that his compatriots should have kept him in the reserve and not the front line. One wonders if they had lines at all of course, and, that’s all small potatoes compared to the core fact that he was attacked and assaulted and he showed tremendous competence using his tool to protect his own life from certain grave bodily harm or death.

Or bug, do you favor “peaceful protesters” throwing molotov cocktails at other citizens, as they did to Kyle? Do let us know.

      1. The conduct of Democratic officialdom has made Rittenhouse’s free-booting socially salutary.

        1. The guy shot in the arm admits he was trying to mur.der Rittenhouse. I’m sure the public & Rittenhouse’s top shelve lawyers will be interested in hearing the Violent Progressive Democrat Roiters intent of Mur.der.

Phk BLM/aFascist Terrorist, send them to North Korea where they can be free. Racist Anti-American Nut Jobs!

A judge on Friday granted Kyle Rittenhouse’s request to delay his extradition hearing to September 25.

The Illinois judge postponed a decision on whether 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse should be returned to Wisconsin to face charges after he killed two men in what now appears to be acts of self defense,

        2. Rittenhouse shoud have told people he was a member of John Brown’s Gun Club. Then everything would be Ok.

      2. Skate all you want, Kurtz. i’ve seen what you’ve said on this board.

        1. Bug– Never about mind Kurtz. Do you own a gun and would you defend yourself if attacked?

I differ with Book on almost everything but I admire his willingness to say he is armed and would defend himself if attacked. Good for him. I hope he isn’t attacked but if he is he can protect himself and his family. Can you say the same?

  9. The mixing of ethnic oil and water is impossible without unconstitutional political emulsifiers: Affirmative action, quotas, welfare, forced busing, food stamps, social services, Obamacare, public housing, “fair housing,” “non-discrimination,” Medicaid, WIC, TANF, HAMP, HARP, HUD, HHS, etc.

Isn’t it ironic how the American Founders and “Crazy Abe” Lincoln precluded problems of ethnicity before they emerged? The Founders espoused solutions through their original and subsequent “intent” for the nature and character of America.

    To wit,

    The Naturalization Acts of 1790 1795, 1798 and 1802.

United States Congress, “An act to establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization,” March 26, 1790

“Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, That any Alien being a free white person,…”

“The influx of foreigners must, therefore, tend to produce a heterogeneous compound; to change and corrupt the national spirit; to complicate and confound public opinion; to introduce foreign propensities. In
the composition of society, the harmony of the ingredients is all-important, and whatever tends to a discordant intermixture must have an injurious tendency.”

    – Alexander Hamilton

“Suppose 20 millions of republican Americans thrown all of a sudden into France, what would be the condition of that kingdom?” “If it would be more turbulent, less happy, less strong, we may believe that the addition of half a million of foreigners to our present numbers would produce a similar effect here.”

    – Thomas Jefferson

    Lincoln Proposes a Constitutional Amendment

In spite of such obstacles, Lincoln re-affirmed his strong support for gradual emancipation coupled with resettlement in his second annual message to Congress of December 1, 1862. On this occasion he used the word deportation. So serious was he about his plan that he proposed a draft Constitutional Amendment to give it the greatest legal sanction possible. Lincoln told Congress:99

I cannot make it better known than it already is, that I strongly favor colonization.

In this view, I recommend the adoption of the following resolution and articles amendatory to the Constitution of the United States … “Congress may appropriate money, and otherwise provide, for colonizing free colored persons, with their consent, at any place or places without the United States.”

Applications have been made to me by many free Americans of African descent to favor their emigration, with a view to such colonization as was contemplated in recent acts of Congress … Several of the Spanish American republics have protested against the sending of such colonies [settlers] to their respective territories … Liberia and Haiti are, as yet, the only countries to which colonists of African descent from here could go with certainty of being received and adopted as citizens …

Their old masters will gladly give them wages at least until new laborers can be procured; and the freedmen, in turn, will gladly give their labor for the wages, till new homes can be found for them, in congenial climes, and with people of their own blood and race.

Fellow-citizens, we cannot escape history. We of this Congress and this administration will be remembered in spite of ourselves …

The President’s December 1862 proposal had five basic elements:100

    1. Because slavery was a “domestic institution,” and thus the concern of the states alone, they — and not the federal government — were to voluntarily emancipate the slaves.

    2. Slave-holders would be fully compensated for their loss.

    3. The federal government would assist the states, with bonds as grants in aid, in meeting the financial burden of compensation.

    4. Emancipation would be carried out gradually: the states would have until the year 1900 to free their slaves.

    5. The freed blacks would be resettled outside the United States.

    – Robert Morgan

  10. “[T]ackl[ing] challenges with wisdom, facts, insight, and courage” is certainly an righteous ideal. It’s such a predictable failure of most leftists to stop after the first two words.
