This morning I have the pleasure of addressing the conference on biometrics organized by the Biometrics Institute. I will be discussing the current tension between privacy rights and this new and expanding technology.
I will be addressing the conference at 9 am and will be participating in a panel after the remarks in the next session.
I have a new study coming out at Boston University:
Anonymity, Obscurity, and Technology: Reconsidering Privacy in the Age of Biometrics ___ Boston University Law Review (forthcoming 2020)

Professor Turley, please take a copy of the law which bears on biometrics with you – with emphasis on its reference to “persons.” No entity may engage in acquisition and manipulation of biometrics without violating the constitutional rights, freedoms, privileges and immunities of Americans.
__________________________________________________________________
4th Amendment
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Since your a apologist for Trump who does not believe in science, you should wear your red hat to the conference.
Professor Turley,
Will your speech be recorded and uploaded to YouTube? I am interested in hearing what you have to say.
While at the conference discuss the number of Americans killed by smoking versus the number killed by virus. And, the ignoring of the dumb smokers by the media.
What is a “biometric”?
L2,
It’s basically Mark of the Beast Tech where law professors & judges are tripping over themselves to demand the citizen owners of this country surrender up their Bill of Rights , Essential Liberty, for government security.
That if we’ll only implant that mark of the Beast biometric chip into our hand or arse & then the police state will allow us “Slaves” out of our homes to travel & fly on planes. It’s a new Passport system much like the ole letters from the king/queen.
Re: banned.video
fingerprints are biometrics
so are facial ID equations
so are DNA sequences
privacy means you own yours and don’t have to share it
lack of privacy means the government forces you to fork it over like in a drivers license (facial ID pattern)
or a fingerprint if you’re arrested and a mugshot
or for sex offenders who have to go in the DNA registry
of course private corporations are assembling massive biometrics on us too, the state run databases are humbled by the titanic amounts of info private corporations have on us
that is the American notion of “freedom”, what you fight not to let the government have, you give away to corporations for free to use their shiny junk and gadgets

Somewhere there are some articles out about building DNA data bases on all of us without our consent. I may find them later.

Mr. Kurtz,
It’s crony capitalism/corporatism anyway at this point, so government/corporations are arm in arm.
I agree with the irony, though.
On a non-related “Government Run Amuck” issue, a huge constitutional issue not receiving much attention is state-governed “Occupational Licensing” schemes with the primary purpose of destroying healthy competition for consumers. Excessive regulation that harms consumer choice without improving safety or service to consumers. The 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and most state constitutions allow small business owners to choose any legal occupation they choose and prohibits arbitrary government obstacles that only benefit cartels and monopolies. Professor Turley should read the statistics complied by the Institute for Justice (www.ij.org), then search “Occupational Licensing” > “Recommendations for Reform”. This is a bi-partisan issue that benefits all consumers and small business owners. During the recent pandemic, insurance companies are also in the game. In 4 months time, liability insurance premiums have been inflated 200% to 500%, while reducing coverage by as much as 67% – a net increase well over 1000% in 4 months.
What is “a” biometric! Biology? Biography?
Metric is what?
The panopticon will be watching.
Sounds very interesting !
