“Anonymous” Revealed and Retained: CNN Keeps Contributor Who Lied On The Air To Anderson Cooper

Miles Taylor, the former chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security, came forward this week to confirm that he is “Anonymous,” the author of the bombshell opinion column published in The New York Times two years ago and the subsequent book “A Warning.” What is most notable is that Taylor is now a CNN contributor who will remain in that role despite lying to Anderson Cooper and CNN viewers on the air. CNN sees no problem or conflict in a contributor who knowingly lied on the air while others were being hammered as the suspected source. Indeed, this is fast becoming a curious credential for CNN contributors.

In August, Taylor appeared with Cooper in an interview slamming Trump. Cooper asked him point blank if he was the author.

Taylor responded with a repeated denial:  “I’m not. Look, that was a parlor game that happened in Washington, DC, of a lot of folks trying to think of who might that be. I’ve got my own thoughts about who that might be.”

Cooper asked again: “You’re not ‘anonymous.'”

“I wear a mask for two things, Anderson. Halloweens and pandemics. So, no.”

Well, three things, Halloweens, pandemics, and lying to my future employer.

What is incredible is that Taylor insists in the interview that he wants to focus on Trump “and his character” while knowingly and repeatedly lying to Cooper and viewers:

As Taylor was holding forth on good character and making huge amounts of money from his book, others were being investigated as the possible source including longtime national security aide Victoria Coates, who was  reassigned to the Department of Energy. On Twitter, Taylor acknowledged that he might owe Coates an apology. Not the viewers however.

CNN however distinguishes between lies that undermine Trump and those other lies. It will keep Taylor as a contributor. That leaves the network with a rogue’s gallery of accused liars.  CNN hired former intelligence chief James Clapper after he lied under oath.  It hired former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe after he alleged lied to federal investigators.  Now it has retained Taylor who not only lied but lied to CNN and its viewers. The only common denominator is that they may be liars but they are anti-Trump liars. It is like a media version of being a “made man,” where you earn your bones by showing a willingness to do anything to protect a narrative — whether it is true or not.

It is worth noting Anderson Cooper has repeatedly denounced Trump and his aides for lying and CNN maintains that “facts matter.” Indeed, it was Copper who stated in one prior show: “What kind of person hires someone who promises never to lie to us, as Kayleigh McEnany did on her first day on the job, and then breaks that promise repeatedly?”

It was a good question then and it is a good question now: “What kind of [network] hires someone who promises never to lie to us… and then breaks that promise repeatedly?”

  1. Kamala Harris will be ensconced, a la Obama, by the Deep Deep State.

She is good press with respect to the communists (liberals, progressives, socialists, democrats, RINOs), rioters, anarchists, etc.

She will be as amenable as Play-Doh.

The Deep Deep State will serve itself by imposing justice now, prosecuting the Biden family and taking Joe out.

The Deep Deep State gets whom it wants and it is not compelled to assassinate anyone.

America is a kinder, gentler nation.

The “dictatorship of the proletariat” prevails.

    Freedom is dead.

One month before a purported leak of files from Hunter Biden’s laptop, a fake “intelligence” document about him went viral on the right-wing internet, asserting an elaborate conspiracy theory involving former Vice President Joe Biden’s son and business in China.

The document, a 64-page composition that was later disseminated by close associates of President Donald Trump, appears to be the work of a fake “intelligence firm” called Typhoon Investigations, according to researchers and public documents.

The author of the document, a self-identified Swiss security analyst named Martin Aspen, is a fabricated identity, according to analysis by disinformation researchers, who also concluded that Aspen’s profile picture was created with an artificial intelligence face generator. The intelligence firm that Aspen lists as his previous employer said that no one by that name had ever worked for the company and that no one by that name lives in Switzerland, according to public records and social media searches. …

“It seems the media — NBC News at least — has finally found a Hunter Biden story it can report on, because it’s been debunked. Both NBC News and MSNBC producer Kyle Griffin are reporting that a “dossier” on Hunter Biden that’s (supposedly) gone viral on the internet appears to be from a fake intelligence firm.

Yes, this 64-page document has nothing to do with the laptop or its contents. But because it’s been found to be fake, it’s safe for the media to report on, and hopefully confuse people who’ve never heard a thing about it.

As someone tweeted above, (in attached twitchy article) now the media can say they covered the Hunter Biden story and it was all a hoax. NBC News is calling this an exclusive, but we wonder how many other mainstream media outlets will pick up this story? It’ll probably be one of Twitter’s trending news stories Friday.”

      1. It is becoming increasingly obvious that the MSM and big tech are covering for Joe Biden to an extent that is unprecedented.

    2. ‘NBC is trying to dupe you into thinking the Biden pay-to-play scandal has been debunked. It has not.

This NBC tweet is about a random document almost no one has seen. It’s not connected to what Bobulinski is accusing Joe Biden of.

NBC is actively running interference for Biden.’ @TimMurtaugh

  3. UGH guess what they found out old hunter has a pornhub profile too

does this guy have no brains whatsoever?

he’s really the “content creator” isnt he?

    1. LOL! And Joe says; “and I had my son Hunter, who’s the smartest guy I know.”

Joe knows a lot of people and Hunter is at the top of that heap? That explains Obama, Pelosi and Schumer. And the rest of his Leftist ilk.

    2. Hunter is The Miracle Weiner of this election, complete with laptop.

I never imagined this could happen twice but I am thankful for it.

  4. Administration Squandered Millions On Aborted Public Service Announcements

Celebrity-Based Productions Were Essentially Trump Campaign Ads

Few Celebrities Sufficiently Conservative Enough To Use!

A $265 million public campaign to “defeat despair” around the coronavirus was planned partly around the politically tinged theme that “helping the president will help the country,” according to documents released on Thursday by House investigators.

Michael R. Caputo, the assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of Health and Human Services, and others involved envisioned a star-studded campaign to lift American spirits, but the lawmakers said they sought to exclude celebrities who had supported gay rights or same-sex marriage or who had publicly disparaged President Trump. The actor Zach Galifianakis, for instance, was apparently passed over because he had declined to have Mr. Trump on his talk show “Between Two Ferns.” (Mr. Galifianakis did have President Barack Obama on the irreverent show.)

Ultimately, the campaign collapsed in late September amid recriminations and investigation.

Democrats on the House Oversight and Reform Committee and the select subcommittee on the coronavirus crisis released the records, declaring that “these documents include extremely troubling revelations.” They accused Alex M. Azar II, the secretary of health and human services, of “a cover-up to conceal the Trump administration’s misuse of hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars for partisan political purposes ahead of the upcoming election.”

Mr. Caputo, a fierce ally of Mr. Trump, had drawn attention to the public relations campaign last month during an extended rant on Facebook, claiming that the president had personally put him in charge of the project and that career government scientists were engaging in “sedition” to undermine the president. He is on medical leave battling cancer.

That public relations effort is now in shambles. The celebrities picked to promote the campaign, including the actor Dennis Quaid, have pulled out. Mr. Azar ordered a review of whether the initiative served “important public health purposes.” Top health department officials have privately tried to distance themselves from the project.

“The plan has always been to only use materials reviewed by a department wide team of experts,” a department spokeswoman said in a statement.

The new documents indicate that Mr. Quaid stood out mainly because he got through the vetting. Documents show contractors involved in the public relations effort researched the political views and backgrounds of at least 274 celebrities in what appeared to be an effort to root out anti-Trump sentiment that could inflect the initiative.

In the end, only 10 of hundreds of potential celebrities considered for the campaign were approved, the documents suggest.

The new documents deal with a $15 million contract awarded to Atlas Research and signed in late August. They indicate that government officials successfully urged the company to hire three little-known subcontractors with no obvious expertise to join the bigger campaign.

When Mark H. Chichester, the president of Atlas, tried to research those subcontractors, he discovered “small shops with little on them in the public domain,” according to documents the committee released.

One was a one-person operation run by a state-level Republican pollster, Mr. Chichester wrote. Another appeared to be “a small — perhaps one-man” operation.

In a September meeting with one subcontractor, Mr. Caputo suggested “taglines” for the effort, some of which had a distinctly partisan tone, such as “helping the president will help the country,” according to notes released by the lawmakers. Mr. Caputo said that theme “would appeal to his base in terms of wearing a mask, vaccine,” the notes state.

  5. And, of course, President Trump was asking a question about a person who irrationally and directly assaulted an entire unit of police.

Cooper is the very personification of a lie; a living lie.

He is a male by nature and a defective, unknown hybrid of some sort by manifestation.

Who in their right mind would listen seriously to anything this literal perversion, nay, freak of nature has to say?

      1. And yet you did not deny the truth of the inherent perversion from the norm – it cannot be normal for beings not to be capable of self-replication. I’m sure you would agree that existential termination could in no way be beneficial for a species or intended by its mode of creation.

Can the truth and or facts lie?

Please cite the Constitution wherein the holding of opinion is denied.

You erroneously, maliciously and insidiously conflate opinion with violence.

You hate freedom. You’re a freedom denier. You’re a communist.

You are attempting to surreptitiously induce people to falsely believe they are living the novel 1984 – that up is down; in is out; that wrong is right; that the remarkably aberrant is now normal.

People must adapt to the outcomes of freedom. Freedom does not adapt to people, dictatorship does.

Were you assigned, by the General Secretary and Politburo, the communist dictatorial power of tyranny, or are you simply the local political officer?

        Perhaps, the “Brain Police?”

        Beware, the awakening.

        1. Why waste my time denying your garbage? It’s nothing but the bile of an extreme bigot.

          1. Next, you’ll endeavor to make actual Americans falsely believe it is chiseled in stone and archived in a secret location, that they MUST give their country away on a silver platter to the invading hordes of parasites in search of “free stuff.” You’ll implore of them that they have no right to “claim and exercise dominion” over their country – that it belongs to the abused and exploited masses.

Imagine the enormity of your task, were resolute men like Washington, Mason, Jefferson, Hamilton, Madison, Adams, Hancock, Marshall et al. present today.

That’s all they ever offered anyone:

            Freedom and Self-Reliance.

          2. Oh, and thanks for reading.

            I very much appreciate it.

What is an author without a reader?

      2. You say that as if it was a bad thing. But I think there is a big difference between bias/bigotry/prejudice and racism. As I provided before, if half of Baltimore poodles bite people and are incapable of learning to sit or shake hands, I have a right to be biased against them, and not reach my hand out to pet them. That is far different than believing that ALL Baltimore poodles are bad or that they are inherently inferior

  7. Having problems getting thinks to post. I wonder if it is the link???

Anyway, Glenn Greenwald just published the article that the Intercept would not let him publish, Good detailed info on the laughable Shokhin firing that Joe Biden demanded.

Don’t guess I can link it.

    1. Squeaky, you have probably tried this. Put a small part from the middle of the text into your email and format plain text. Then copy and past to the blog in quotes putting some new gibberish in front of and after what you copied. Use a new name and address or try anonymously.

    2. I located the comment I believe you are referring. For whatever reason the WordPress server snagged it as spam. The comment is timestamped 4:45 pm EDT and is now restored.

    1. I didn’t like Greenwald’s political leanings and disagreed with some of his Guardian articles but when I read his Snowden book I became an admirer. I don’t need to agree with everyone I like. I thought he is intellectually honest and has solid moral character. I hate to see him batted around by The Intercept and the totalitarian instincts it has acquired in common with the rest of the media.

        1. One of his virtues is that he is NOT BORING

the thing about all this Biden-boosting editorial censorship is that it makes the mainstream media painfully BORING

Glenn is a decent writer and has some imagination. We need more of that!

  8. Let me see if I have this right: Turley is complaining about a non-Trump media outlet hiring someone who lied about being an insider critic of Trump who wrote a book under the name “Anonymous” disclosing Trump’s deceit and incompetence until he was ready to out himself? Turley calls people like Taylor part of a “rogue’s gallery” of liars.

Turley, this is getting sadder and sadder. How can you criticize anyone for lying when your fat slob president and your favorite network constantly lie every day, and their lies are literally killing people? Taylor wasn’t ready to admit he was the source when he “lied”, but if you want to talk about liars, how about the biggest, fattest liar of all:
TRUMP LIES—PEOPLE DIE. We are not ‘turning the corner”. We are not on the brink of a vaccine. We do not have a proven treatment for COVID, but even if we did, the long-term health of those who have contracted the virus is uncertain, because it appears to affect the circulatory system. Victims in their 20s and 30s without prior heart disease are having heart attacks. Telling people that we’ve “turned a corner” is a flat-out dangerous lie, and it is being done, not for personal protection purposes, like Taylor’s denial of being “Anonymous”, but for ego reasons–Trumpy Bear’s pathetic need for adulation, attention, adoration. If he admitted that COVID is “highly contagious”, that there could be long-term health consequences that are unknown, but could be fatal, then he would be a monster for holding superspreader events. Even Fox couldn’t spin away that fact.

  9. Turley writes: “Not real promising for a Biden cabinet. Joe Biden declared that Hunter Biden is “the smartest guy I know.””

Many of us are thinking about what a Biden cabinet might look like, worst/best case scenario.

    1. one would think from this article most of the names advanced will be women. there’s not enough qualified males perhaps?

      https://www.agri-pulse.com/articles/14734-potential-names-for-biden-cabinet-surface-in-speculative-discussions

I am not informed about these suggestions so i will not otherwise speculate.

they are teasing Bernie with a shot, at D o Labor, but, I take that as a head fake to try and rouse some of his supporters off the couch

Liz Warren, in my mind, could be a serious choice for Treasury Secretary. I don’t think Wall Street would like that, but, that might be precisely the point
She has had some excellent ideas over the years where the perils and downsides of financialization are concerned
ideas that made her few friends on Wall Street

Considering that Wall Street has donated so much to Biden however, I doubt that would transpire if Biden wins

      1. The article is behind a paywall for me but you raise some interesting points, Mr. K.

Looks like it might be Warren on the left, Gina Raimondo (Governor of RI) on the right for Treasury.

Susan Rice for SOS seems like a strong possibility.

On the other side of the coin:

        https://www.axios.com/trump-firing-wray-haspel-esper-088cbd70-3524-4625-91f1-dbc985767c71.html

“If President Trump wins re-election, he’ll move to immediately fire FBI Director Christopher Wray and also expects to replace CIA Director Gina Haspel and Defense Secretary Mark Esper, two people who’ve discussed these officials’ fates with the president tell Axios.”

Gina Haspel’s post-election position looks most precarious:

        https://theintercept.com/2020/08/20/gina-haspel-cia-trump-intelligence-purge/

        1. Gina covered up torture at GITMO. She should be fired.

Esper is a foot dragger for the Pentagon bureaucracy who has stymied troop withdrawals. if rumors are true, he’s pretty close to insubordinate

it is important to uphold civilian leadership of our military that the POTUS’ orders for the armed forces are implemented and mutiny is kept out of the question

otherwise we go full speed into modern form of Praetorianism, already a trending concern

            1. No clue but Pompeo will know somebody suitable, he ran it and has kept her on a leash

odds are someone who went to Harvard lol

“That’s the view of Lawrence Korb, Center for American Progress analyst who is also a Vietnam veteran and former assistant secretary of defense in the Reagan administration.”

“He said Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, a retired National Guard lieutenant colonel, and Sen. Martha McSally, R-Arizona, a former Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt pilot, were possible defense secretary on the Republican side if they lose their Senate races next week and Trump wins.”

“The New York Times reported that Air Force Secretary Barbara Barrett, the former U.S. ambassador to Finland, and one of the few women currently in a top Pentagon post, was also a possible SecDef pick.”

“Much of the speculation on the Democratic side has been that Biden would choose Michele Flournoy, the former under secretary of Defense for Policy and co-founder of the prominent think tank Center for a New American Security.”

“However, Korb said Biden could go with a woman who has combat experience, such as Sen. Tammy Duckworth, D-Illinois, an Army helicopter pilot who lost her legs in Iraq.”

    2. Undoubtedly AOC will head the EPA. Rep Omar will head Homeland Security. Ayanna Pressley the EEOC and Rashida Tlaib as AG. Does that sound about right?

      1. Javafiend: I’m not sure AOC has enough science cred for the EPA. Didn’t you see that episode of Space Force? LOL. Andrew Yang would send China a message.

        1. Yang brought a unique message ignored by every other candidate: we need to seriously contemplate the dislocations in the labor force due to ever increasing use of robotics and rapid advances in AI. A very welcome topic of conversation

When AGI is realized, if we are caught flat footed, God only knows how things will turn out. That is an event horizon but we better get ready and think hard and fast on it

  10. Turley’s article asked: “What kind of [network] hires someone who promises never to lie to us… and then breaks that promise repeatedly?”

Answer: The same network that STILL hasn’t fired a guy for jerking off on a work Zoom meeting.

Working for CNN is like working for the government. It doesn’t matter what you do (masterbate on camera during a work video meeting) or don’t do (tell the truth) because CNN will not fire you! Seems the ONLY thing that will get you fired from CNN is telling the TRUTH about Trump.

    1. Ask: Will CNN ‘pull a Toobin’ and put #MeToobin back on the air?
