In a bizarre interview, President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden finally acknowledged that the infamous laptop may indeed be his . . . or the creation of Russian intelligence. After offering detailed accounts going back years on his drug addiction and abuse, Biden seems incapable of remembering whether he had this laptop with thousands of files, including personal and embarrassing images of his having sex and doing drugs.
In his interview with CBS’s Tracy Smith, Biden is finally asked about the lap — which is an improvement over other media including a recent interview by NPR.
In the interview, Biden was asked about the laptop. He answered cryptically: “There could be a laptop out there that was stolen from me. It could be that I was hacked. It could be that it was the — that it was Russian intelligence.”
There was not a serious pushback on that incomprehensible answer like “you can remember details from your period of addiction going back 20 years but you cannot remember this laptop?” Or how about this: “even if you cannot remember your own laptop, you have seen the pictures and emails. Are those authentic pictures and emails?”
Hunter Biden remains in a protected media space on questions about the specific emails and photos, including emails showing raw influence peddling worth millions.
Instead, crickets.

This Hunter Biden “story” is just more of the Biden’s laughing all the way to the bank as he shamelessly cashes in on his mult-million dollar book deal. Not only is Hunter Biden a disgusting eff’d up person –but all of the dynamics of Joe Biden’s family are a truly screwy, strange, odd, greedy, and corrupt as all get out.
Do you know how many people in this country — including Whoopi Goldberg — think “Dr” Jill Biden is actually a medical doctor? How pompous and pretentious does one have to be to insist on the world addressing them as “Dr” for a less-than-impressive education credential?
And yet here are the media helping them along by portraying Hunter Biden as some tragic figure, some poor guy who has suffered so much tragedy and loss in life, like his father, and who has struggled with addiction as so many of us have (cry me a river). The Biden’s are exploiting and milking their sad stories for every last drop and every dollar they can — because they are greedy and dishonest, manipulative sellouts.
Joe Biden and the rest of the corrupt dishonest media tell us, “oh that poor Hunter, he really has done nothing wrong, look away and leave that poor Biden family alone, haven’t they been through enough in their lives?” Oh but that Don Jr? HE is evil personified, HE will be subpoenaed, HE will be forced to testify, under oath, for hour and hours, HE will be lied about, hung out to dry, and utterly demonized by media, by members of Congress, etc.

I agree with Turley wholeheartedly that Hunter’s response was disingenuous and that there should have been a follow-up question or 2. In the old days, there was no such thing as the follow-up question, and politicians learned to avoid answering questions by deflection. The press eventually got tired of this tactic and demanded a follow-up question so that politicians could not get away with evasive answers. Unfortunately, when a politician knows that the questions are limited to 2, he simply concocts a second non-responsive answer to follow his first.
If we are ever going to get the truth out of politicians, we need the press to demand:
1) long form interviews, more than the customary 5 minute interchange. The fact that the media will not engage a politician for more than a brief TV segment allows the politician to filibuster the time away. Demand a 30 minute commitment so that the politician knows he cannot simply parrot his talking points before the commercial break;
2) be confrontational to the point of being abrupt if necessary. In order to secure the politician’s presence in a bid to boost the program’s ratings, hosts are too polite. They dare not push the politician too hard lest they scare him off in the future and put other politicians on notice to avoid this program. As a result, the host does not force the issue to demand an answer before moving on to another topic. Just once I’d like an interviewer to say, “Look, if you don’t want to answer my question, just say so. I will respect your refusal, but don’t pretend you are giving an answer when you are not.”
I wish our media had a show such as the BBC program “Hard Talk” wherein politicians are cross-examined by a relentless interrogator. The fact that so many lies are allowed to go unchallenged is a result of disingenuous politicians finding safe harbor with friendly media. And when a politician enters the lion’s den, the host will not push the politician out of his comfort zone out of gratitude for his appearance.
