MLB Moves All-Star Game To Colorado Despite The State’s Mandatory Voter Identification Rule

We have been discussing the false statements made by President Joe Biden and White House Press Secretary Jan Psaki to support the boycott of Georgia over its new voting law. Yet, the White House is not the only ones seemingly doubling down on that narrative.  The MLB refused to reconsider its controversial decision to move the gam from Atlanta. It is now sending the game to Denver. It is a move that will only heighten objections. Colorado also requires identification for voting — one of the key points of objection to Georgia. New polling shows that, even after this campaign, Americans continue to overwhelmingly support such mandatory identification rules with almost 75 percent in favor of such rules. Indeed, over 50 percent of Democrats support such voter identification rules. Some polling shows 63 percent of Democrats supporting such mandatory rules.

During an interview on ESPN, Biden repeated his claim that the law is “Jim Crow on steroids” and added: “Imagine passing a law saying you cannot provide water or food for someone standing in line to vote, can’t do that? C’mon! Or you’re going to close a polling place at 5 o’clock when working people just get off?”

As we previously discussed, it is hard to “imagine” because it is not true and the White House knows that it is not true.  I will not repeat the clearly false claim about closing polling places early.  As the Washington Post noted, “the net effect [of the Georgia law] is … to expand the opportunities to vote for most Georgians, not limit them.”  The use of the provision to suggest a reduction in voting hours was a knowing misrepresentation by those seeking to justify the federalization of election laws in Congress.  Despite being called out on the false statement, President Biden continues to repeat it.

Opponents of the new law have also enraged some Georgians over the move (particularly in moving the game from a city with a black majority to a city with a small black population). There have also been controversial arguments beyond the Biden claims.  That includes the argument of former Clinton lawyer Marc Elias that the Georgia voters cannot not be expected to be locate their driver’s license numbers on their licenses — a claim denounced by critics as racist.

Colorado has some provisions that are more strict and some that are more lenient than Georgia. For example, Georgia allows for 17 days of in-person early voting including two optional Sundays while Colorado only allows 15.

Colorado also requires voter identification for in person voting and a copy with mail-in voting.

Colorado does automatically sends absentee ballots to all registered voters rather than require a request. However, the MLB seemed to struggle to find a venue.  Indeed, Georgia legislators have suggested adopting the laws in New York and Delaware which have some more stringent provisions than Georgia.

  1. ‘SCOOP: @MLB sources say owners were blindsided at least by the timing of @RobManfred’s decision to pull the All-Star game from Atlanta. Also said his decision came after speaking w @staceyabrams which is odd since she has now said she’s against the boycott. Story developing’ @cgasparino

  2. I’m beyond psyched that the All Star game has been moved to Denver because Colorado has the most effectively open voting policies in the country, with same day voter registration, it being fully adapted to mail in voting, drive up voting capability and the closest thing to automatic voting registration upon turning legally voting age that exists in the country. Voting lines in Colorado are kept to an absolute minimum whereas Georgia’s are notoriously long.

I’m also happy because I went to Denver South High School and Denver is a bangin’ city.

  3. With our current WOKE culture, I am surprised that Colorado with it’s history of KKK involvement would be the choice for those opposed to ” Jim Crow” insinuations. I LBGQT community outweighs Racism in America. The total thing is ridiculous as is most of what is happening today.

  4. Turley would love to have his Trump cult forget the fact that Georgia republicans wrote the rules and laws for the 2020 elections. And of course Georgia republicans could find no wide-spread or small scale voter fraud.

    1. There was fraud. The weasel word Dems are using is “widespread.”

      1. If you can prove it, you could be on FOXNEWS 24-7. So 3 recounts done by the whole republican elected officials could not find it, but YOU KNOW there was.

    2. And leftist will have you forget the Sec. State signed an agreement to eliminate portions of the law because covid. Things like signature verification. And the addition of ballot boxes.

  5. Hey, if MLB wishes to position themselves as a sport only for Democrats, that’s their prerogative. If a sports organization becomes political, and rejects their conservative audience, then their conservative fans should change the channel.

Why do we funnel money into organizations, social media, search engines, and corporations who despise us? Aren’t you sick of your shaving utensil and your shoe manufacturer insulting your race or gender or your country? Aren’t you tired of social media budding in to conversations while pretending to be uninvolved like the phone company?

If all you do is complain, but still use their services, nothing will change.

Put your money where your mouth is.

Live by cancel culture, die (figuratively) by cancel culture.

    1. “Live by cancel culture, die (figuratively) by cancel culture.”

You’re encouraging people to cancel MLB. Recognize that you’re part of cancel culture.

        1. Fishflaps , the Baizou biden cult won’t recognize truth , facts or fraud unless it somehow can be used to prop up their hijinks. But you already know that.

      1. “Live by cancel culture, die (figuratively) by cancel culture” means that those who promote cancel culture can also be canceled themselves.

I find the irony of cancelling cancel culture delicious.

Conservatives aren’t like Democrats. We don’t search out a list of people who refuse to voice conservative positions, and then go out and try to ruin them, destroy them, force them to bake a MAGA cake, or make sure they never work again.

If a company publicly expresses opposition to conservatives, or boycotts a red state purely on politics, then it’s fair game for conservative customers to take their business elsewhere. After all, that company is essentially saying that conservatives are not welcome.

We should take them at their word.

  6. Anything and everything to protect The Citizens including DNA scans.

  7. Vote early and often. It’s hard to vote often if they require a photo ID at the polls.

  8. The fundamental truth about SB 202 is this: Its very existence is predicated on a lie. The bill’s passage was motivated by unfounded claims of fraud in the Georgia presidential elections — lies that Donald Trump spread and continues to spread, with the help of both state and national Republicans.

Arguing about the narrow narrative of the law’s allows republicans to avoid acknowledging that the law is based on proven lie.

The Georgia bill is not merely the sum of its provisions in a country where 60 percent of Republicans believe the 2020 presidential election “was stolen” from Trump through voter fraud — it validates a lie that is corroding American democracy. It also extends and deepens a much older Republican campaign to rig the system in their favor.

    1. Is this similar to the 4 year narrative that the Russians stole the 2016 election for Trump. Tell us your thoughts Svelaz.

      1. Anonymous, nobody claims the Russians stole the election in 2016. They interfered, and that’s a proven narrative. Glad I was able to help clear your confusion.

        1. Russia didn’t interfere in 2020? Oh, that’s right, The Democrat won.

        2. Svelaz – actually, Democrats claimed that Trump stole the election with the help of Russia in 2016. They claimed he was a Manchurian candidate, a Russian spy, and working for the Russians.

          Pretending otherwise is disingenuous.

          1. Karen s, nobody claimed the Russians stole the election. Trump claimed democrats said that, but the compulsive liar Trump insisted it.

Democrats claimed with evidence that the Russians interfered. Even Trump’s own intelligence agencies agreed.

              1. You’re referring to yet another movie the plot of which you don’t understand.

            1. Democrats claimed President Trump colluded with Russia. The first Scope Memo to Mueller outlines the accusation.

            2. Even Trump’s own intelligence agencies agreed.
              This is toooo stupid
On January 4th, 2017, FBI agent in charge sent a letter to Comey. The letter stated the FBI found no derogatory information in the Crossfire Hurricane (Trump) and Crossfire Razor(Flynn) investigations. Communication with the Intelligence Community informed they also had no derogatory intelligence. The investigations should be closed as all leads turned up nothing to investigate.

We remember all those evil Russians that Mueller indicted. Understanding the indictments would never have to standup to cross examination in court…but wait…one of the Russian Entities did respound and showed up for trial. Mueller quickly filed for a continuance. Judge had to explain the first year law student that the govt does not indict until it is ready for trial. Mueller was forced to withdraw the charges.

          2. Karen: we’ve covered this before. You don’t know what a Manchurian candidate is, so stop referring to this film in connection with Trump. No one said Trump was a Manchurian candidate or spy because he’s too stupid to be either. What was said and confirmed by the Mueller report is that Trump’s campaign fed insider polling information on key districts in certain swing states to Russian hackers who put out false information on Hillary Clinton. They went to districts where support for her was soft enough that the lies could help, which they did. That’s called cheating. It did happen. It was proven. You are the one who is disingenuous, which is another big word you stole from someone else.

            1. I’ve always called Trump “The Vulgarian Candidate.”

              Great movie, by the way.

The sequel was okay but not nearly as good as the original.

I’d always thought the original would win the Oscar for Best Picture, but then saw there was a little picture that same year called Lawrence of Arabia.

If I ever see George Clooney around Malibu I am going to ask him “If they had remade Manchurian Candidate with Clooney as Bennet Marco, who would he have chosen to be his Raymond Shaw? Joaquin Phoenix? Brad Pitt?”

        3. People keep repeating “Russia interfered in ” the followup is. “by buying $onehundredthousand of facebook advertisement” (in a presidential election that spent over $TWO BILLION) And my dog peeing in the creek on the walking path that flows to the Iowa River, that flows to the Mississippi river, that flows to the Gulf of Mexico, is raising the level of the planets oceans.

    2. Hey slav , Um …so now having to present ID in georgia is somehow “orange man bad” TDS all over again ?. Jeez you left nutters really need to get some new talking points like maybe the one that the Georgia law is based on New York state voting law….ooops that actually sinks your boat there now . My bad.

      1. Phergus, you’re just one confused puppy. Nobody is saying presenting ID is bad. It’s the ability to acquire ID that is the problem for a lot of folk. Just because you already have one doesn’t mean you don’t know how difficult it may be for others. There are a lot of hoops some people have to jump through and even pay for additional documents “just to get a an ID”.

        1. It’s the ability to acquire ID that is the problem for a lot of folk.

What percentage of the population doesn’t have a government-issued photo ID? Find them, identify what the obstacles are and remove the obstacles.

  9. come on…everybody knows why they moved the game to colorado.

at altitude, you can get a higher probability of over the fence homeruns

    1. The reason that 75% want photo ID to vote is because Patriotic American citizens want their election to be HONEST & LEGITIMATE. Only the radical Left thinks that Black American citizens are not capable of obtaining & using a photo ID to vote because they are the REAL racist in the USA. However, we ALL KNOW the real reason why the Left keeps targeting, slandering, smearing, & projecting their own evils upon their political opponents -> because their Elite Leftist masters are acolytes of The Cloward/Piven Strategy & Rules for Radicals.

  10. “A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.

“The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to complacency; From complacency to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage.”

Public workers, welfare recipients, entitlement/medical beneficiaries, illegal aliens, etc., vote for “generous gifts,” “free stuff,” “benefits,” more compensation and larger checks.

The American Founders never intended for these categories to vote and the American republic is not tenable if they do – it has been de facto replaced by communism.

The singular American failure has been and is the judicial branch with emphasis on the Supreme Court, which are sworn to support the Constitution – they don’t.

Severe voting restrictions are innate, imperative and inarguable in the United States of America, a republic as a form of democracy.

Restrictions on the vote were first implemented by the Greeks, then the Romans and finally the American Founders.

An American election is a fraud in the absence of definitive identification and total control at a polling place on “…the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.”

Turnout was 11.6% by design in 1788.

Through deliberately applied vote criteria, the American Founders required voters to be male, European, 21 with 50 lbs. Sterling or 50 acres.

The American Founders required citizens to be “…free white person(s)…,” a de facto vote restriction.

“If it were probable that every man would give his vote freely, and without influence of any kind, then, upon the true theory and genuine principles of liberty, every member of the community, however poor, should have a vote… But since that can hardly be expected, in persons of indigent fortunes, or such as are under the immediate dominion of others, all popular states have been obliged to establish certain qualifications, whereby, some who are suspected to have no will of their own, are excluded from voting; in order to set other individuals, whose wills may be supposed independent, more thoroughly upon a level with each other.”

  11. “Colorado also requires identification for voting”

And here are the forms they accept –
    https://www.sos.state.co.us/pubs/elections/vote/acceptableFormsOfID.html

This is a considerably broader set than in GA.

“Colorado does automatically sends absentee ballots to all registered voters rather than require a request.”

GA doesn’t just require a request, it cuts off absentee ballot applications 11 days before an election

    1. If a citizen cannot arrange his life to present, certify his identification and vote, at a polling place on the day, Tuesday, one 24-hour period, of an election, that citizen has no need, rationale or justification to

      vote.

Turnout in the 1788 election was 11.6%, by design.

      1. I couldn’t care less what your opinion about this is, George. You’re one of the most bigoted people I’ve ever encountered.
