“Jump Kick Man” Identified In Rittenhouse Case . . . After Closing Arguments

Throughout the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse, one of the alleged “victims” was known only as “jump kick man” and identified only by his action and his pants. It now turns out that the prosecutors knew not only who he was but where he was before the trial. The question is whether the defense was informed that “jump kick man” was actually Maurice Freeland, 39.

The video played at trial appears to show Freeland running at Rittenhouse and kicking him shortly after Rittenhouse shot and killed Joseph Rosenbaum. Rittenhouse insisted that he shot at Freeland in self-defense.

The incident became Count 3 against Rittenhouse for first-degree recklessly endangering safety, use of a dangerous weapon. That count carries a possible prison term of 12 1/2 years in prison with the possible addition of five more years on the weapon element.

Once the prosecutors were forced to drop the sixth count on unlawful possession, the third count became arguably their best chance for a compromise verdict.

While the prosecutors would likely object, the defense could have sought to introduce Freeland’s record (particularly for any impeachment effort).  He has a lengthy criminal history in Wisconsin, including charges for battery, disorderly conduct and driving while intoxicated this year.  That means that all of the alleged victims had criminal records. In Freeland’s case, he has an open criminal complaint for domestic violence for an attack on his partner in a drunken rage, ultimately throwing her to the ground and kicking her in her ribcage before she managed to flee.  He has various violent offenses in his record as well as escaping from custody and parole violations.

There is no confirmation whether this information was withheld from the defense. That would be a serious violation, if true. It would add to a lengthening list of blunders and alleged violations committed by the prosecution.

What is notable however is that the prosecution suggested that it was unaware of the identity and was speculating on his motivation in kicking Rittenhouse. It turns out that the prosecution spoke to Freeland since it is reported that prosecutors refused his offer to testify in exchange for an immunity deal.

We need to confirm the details on this controversy, particularly whether the defense was informed of Freeland’s identity.

  1. After what Biden just said about being angry about the verdict, I think we have to worry about a federal prosecution of Rittenhouse

    1. “Today’s verdict means there is no accountability for the person who murdered our son,” Huber’s parents said in a written statement published after the decision. “It sends the unacceptable message that armed civilians can show up in any town, incite violence, and then use the danger they have created to justify shooting people in the street.”

    2. “…TWICE…”

      “…FOR THE SAME OFFENCE…”

“NO PERSON SHALL BE…SUBJECT FOR THE SAME OFFENCE TO BE TWICE PUT IN JEOPARDY OF LIFE OR LIMB;…”

The only words in the law that bear on prosecution are “…for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy…,” jurisdiction and purview notwithstanding.

    That’s pretty much it.

  3. “But they’re not going to stop. They’re not going to stop. They’re not. This is a movement. I’m telling you. They’re not going to stop, and everyone, beware. Because they’re not going to stop. They’re not going to stop before election day in November, and they are not going to stop after election day. And everyone should take note of that on both levels. That they’re not going to let up. And they should not, and we should not.”

  4. I’m big enough to admit when I was wrong – the jury did good. The left is finally losing their grip on people, methinks, and that is a fantastic thing. It is very clear between this, the parents fighting for their children, Biden getting shot down in court being par for the corse, and the MSM having ratings swirling the toilet etc., etc. that we the people won’t stand for it, and after the past five years, I think the dem’s standing is probably irreparably tainted for the majority of us. This is where ignorance, dishonesty and fabrication, hatred, elitism, totalitarianism, and hostility such as the left in America have wholeheartedly embraced, ultimately lead.

      1. Been rolling my own for decades. Saves alot and makes one so much more familiar with your ‘irons’.

      2. Damn shame about that, prices should be closer to $0.30/rnd., although they are way down since early this year.

  5. You know who was breaking the law? Everyone that Kyle Rittenhouse shot.

Rosenbaum – convicted child molester who charged at Rittenhouse, despite his please, “friendly! friendly!” He was shot while grabbing the gun, getting powder burns on his hands. The mentally unstable, agitated pedophile then died.

Huber – assaulted Rittenhouse with a skateboard, striking him in the neck.

Freeland – assaulted Rittenhouse. Convicted criminal.

Gaige Grosskreutz – unlawful possession of a firearm, attempted to murder Rittenhouse when he pointed a loaded gun at his head.

You know who else broke the law? Everyone who libeled or slandered him.

Sue them all, Rittenhouse. Make them pay you so much recompense that they won’t do this to another. They did not learn their lesson thou shalt not bear false witness after they settled with Sandmann. Some people are slow learners. They need to be sued again, and again, and again until they can figure out that lying doesn’t pay.

    1. Grosskreutz had the audacity to sue law enforcement in Wisconsin, claiming that they condoned “white supremacist” vigilantes who protected property, thereby denying protestors their right to free speech.

Burning, looting, and rioting is not free speech. People have the right to defend themselves and their city.

Peaceful protests are perfectly welcome. Arson is not a peaceful protest.

These people cannot reason. Grosskreutz tried to murder Rittenhouse, pointing a loaded gun at this minor’s face, who he was forced to admit on the stand never fired at him as long as he was not aggressive. Then he claimed that Rittenhouse was a white supremacist who, along with others, denied his right to free speech.

The Left does so like its victims passive.

  6. “Shut it down!” is the refrain from the leftists, shameless in their desire to silence.
If turnabout is fair play, there should be conservative version of cancel culture against MSNBC,
as payback for all of the ceaseless cancelling that the left has been doing to the right, especially on college campuses.
This would settle scores and make things even…things have been too uneven for too long.
    “Shut it down!”

  7. Arrests records can’t be withheld from the defense. They are a matter of record. Please do your homework and understand how courts work before you practice courtroom journalism.

  8. Kyle Rittenhouse acquitted on all charges! Thank God justice prevailed.

However, to paraphrase one of Turley’s favorite quotes, where does he go to get his reputation back?

Most of the reporting was completely fabricated. Almost none of what CNN and MSNBC reported turned out to be true. They have hurt people terribly, convincing them that Kyle Rittenhouse was a racist oppressor aggressor. When the evidence came out, that reporting crumbled into yet another instance of total propaganda.

Does the media find reality just too boring? Is it like Hollywood, where normal events just cannot generate enough views, so they have to push the envelope more and more? If they’re going to keep preaching that America is systemically racist, then they need racist oppressors. If they can’t find one, then they sacrifice a lamb, a teenager.

Anyone who riots or feels anguish over this verdict will do so because the media lied and manipulated them. Too many journalists have devolved to the point that a mob is a weapon they feel entitled to point.

If Kyle Rittenhouse is in terrible danger as a free man, it’s because the media, the President, and many politicians and activists lied about him.

They lied about the Covington Catholic High school boys. They needed to make up a racist story because otherwise people just don’t see pervasive racism. So they sacrificed Sandmann, who will forever be notorious because of a complete and total lie.

Darren Wilson, the cop who shot Michael Brown, will be notorious for the rest of his life because of a complete and total lie. Michael Brown’s hands weren’t up. He wasn’t running away. He’d already grappled for the gun and fired it. Then he turned and charged back at the cop. None of the reporting was true, but I doubt Wilson will ever be a cop again.

They lied about the claim that Trump called racist “very fine people,” when actually the reverse happened. He said they should be condemned totally. Didn’t matter. This lie means that people who voted for Trump are still called racists today.

These lies are effective. They work. They do their job of destroying someone’s character and promoting a false narrative. Entire industry and lucrative careers are born of these lies.

    1. Completely agree. It’s absolutely shameful how some Americans refuse to accept final verdicts after all the evidence has been presented. 86 federal judges ruled against Trump’s attorneys who pushed unsupported evidence of voter fraud in the 2020 election, yet some people relentlessly attack those judicial decisions & instead push a narrative entirely built on lies that the election was stolen.

Karen is absolutely right to categorically denounce the lies & manipulation we are continually inundated with. Thanks, Karen.

      1. “The Rittenhouse Verdict is Only Shocking if You Followed the Last Year of Terrible Reporting
A year of pronouncing the “Kenosha shooter” a murderer could have serious real-world consequences”

      2. It’s absolutely shameful how some Americans refuse to accept final verdicts after all the evidence has been presented.

Actually, it’s shameful that some refuse to accept verdicts, which are determined by juries, after being presented evidence in a trial. Rulings on the other hand do not come from juries. Had Judge Bruce Schroeder granted a mistrial w/prejudice, that would have been an example of what your federal judges determined. Had the Rittenhouse jury come back with a verdict of guilty on 1 or more counts and Judge Schroeder declared a mistrial w/prejudice, you can bet your life there would be outrage over that ruling, despite the fact it would have been justified.

Have you categorically denounced the biggest lies & manipulation involving the Trump/Russia collusion hoax? Just giving you an opportunity to demonstrate how principled you are.

        1. The Mueller Report extensively concluded that the Trump campaign welcomed & expected to benefit electorally from Russia’s broad sweeping interference in the 2016 election including illegally hacking & leaking thousands of confidential DNC emails in an effort to damage Hillary’s campaign. Papadopoulos & Rick Gates were convicted of lying to the FBI about their contacts with Russia. Roger Stone was convicted of 7 felonies in federal court including perjury & obstruction of a Congressional hearing into Russian interference in the 2016 election. Is that the type of principles you’re looking for, Olly?

          1. Funny how revealing hillary’s corruption, lack of proinciples, makes you unprincipled in your eyes. The fact that anyone other than the US MSM did not publish her corruption is further evidence of their collusion and corruption. The fact it was exposed is not unprincipled, it was essential to make an informed opinion on a Presidential candidate.

She is slime, she deserved to lose. By Any Means Necessary…right? RIGHT?

      3. Patriotic American,

Touche’. Who does Karen think she is fooling? How blind can she be not to see her own hypocrisy? I have asked Karen repeatedly whether she thinks the election was stolen, but she has refused to answer (correct me if I have missed her reply).

I said at the outset I would accept the verdict come what may though it will hardly be surprising after this verdict that a lot more weapons will be brought to protests for self-defense not only by Trumpists but Antifa as well.

It would seem that street protests are to be regarded no longer as mere fist fights but, rather, possible gun fights.

        1. Maybe you should now move back home to the Gaza Strip with your Jew, Christian, America hating Islamic Racist Crap.

Your Arab Bedouin Grandma there can train you how they Fist Fight.

        2. BTW:

Last I heard a very large number of State AGs are filing a Fed lawsuit over the 11/3/2020 Election Fraud just before Thanksgiving next week.

          Everyone can read it then.

  9. Kyle Rittenhouse will go down in history as a Great American Hero!

A comfortably wealthy Great American Hero!

    1. A Great Victory for Kyle & Kenosha no doubt.

At the same time keep in mind the Anti- American, Pedo Lovers are coming back to continue attacking Kyle & the rest of us in this nation & the world.

I’m thinking as one lawyer said, just keep flagging/ID’ing as who they are, Kyle’s & our common enemies locally as the Child Rapist Supporters they are.

      1. Oky:

I think that there needs to be an organized body guard rotation for Rittenhouse. Lies have consequences which have put Rittenhouse in danger.

Rittenhouse needs to sue the media who lied about him into the stone age. They must be forced to publicly retract their false reporting. Until the truth gets out, his life will be at risk.

        1. Hopefully the State Gov/AG/DA’s were busy round up those with intent on planning illegal Riots again.

IE: , Gateway Pundit, TGP, had a report up yesterday of about a 1/2 of a semi-load of new “ACNE” bricks , (I seen the Tags in the pic) very close to the Kenosha Court House. It shouldn’t take LE long to find out way the bricks are there & how owns then.

Regardless of an lawsuits by Rittenhouse Klye needs to Fire his Sorry Azz Attorneys for putting him at such great risk in court for not taking the free help offered by Professionals with jury selection & other legal issues.

Attorneys Viva Frei & Robert Barnes will have commentary up soon or on Sunday. I haven’t Ck’d my email yet.

  10. Who hasn’t blubbered-up during an emotional situation? I thought liberals were supposed to be the compassionate ones.

  11. Disproportionality is required to stop something once and for all.
    Proportionality only prolongs it.
This is a concept I would implement if I had any power.

  12. Those tears aren’t fake. Shame on the disgusting, heartless demons on TV who say that they are.

  13. So jump-kicker is also a convict. Isn’t it odd that All the people chasing Kyle were convicted criminals? In a huge crowd, what are the odds of that? There is something odd about it.

    1. They will next be running for office on the democratic ticket. They already have the radical left media behind them.

    2. How were they recruited? Was somebody paying them to riot? Were they so angry about Rittenhouse stopping their fires because that threatened their payoffs?

    3. Not odd at all. Take a random sample of any Left-wing group and you will find them.

  14. Why should Kyle feel remorseful for a man who assaulted him?
Would Anthony Huber have felt any remorse for assaulting, even killing, Kyle?
    Probably not.
Better that Anthony Huber died instead of Kyle Rittenhouse.

Why are the liberal media on the side of looters with a long criminal history, the destroyers of our civilization?
The friends of my enemies are my enemies.

  15. If he had stayed in the house where he should have none if this would have happened. He wanted to play the big man and go looking for trouble and when he found it he decided to kill 2 and would 3. I do not agree with rioting and tearing up peoples property that has nothing to do with the problem, but the solution is not for someone to take the law in their own hands. No one seems to be concerned with the fact that he bought the weapon illegally, i guess that doesn’t say anything about his character huh.

    1. Devra: “he bought the weapon illegaly”

      +++

No, he didn’t. The rest of your comment is also entirely wrong.

    2. Kyle did the brave thing- the masculine thing- by going to a dangerous place to protect a community that was being attacked by a depraved mob. He acted lawfully in carrying a gun as the court made perfectly clear and he rightfully defended himself when attacked as the jury unanimously determined. You and your cowardly ilk are the true danger in our society. FAFO. Kyle will now sue many people for defamation, and he will win again. He will be richly rewarded for his bravery.

    3. I suggest you find new sources of info.

The only reason we can all see the videos of an Organized Gang Leftist Commie Criminal Pedos is because just a couple Small Independent News outlets were their filming. ( A guy named Hernandez (sic) & the Daily Caller, etc.)

The Rest of the Old Media, Biden/Pelosi & the rest of the Govt trash threw everything they could to Lynch Kyle & show massive support for their High Priests the Pedos, & assorted Criminals. ( Save one Old School Honorable Judge who did a fair job)

Kyle & the 100 or so Armed citizens had every Right to be out on the street.

Had the govt done the 1st or 2nd night there’d been no 3rd night with armed Citizen.

    4. Hmm? 🤔 So a citizen should remain in their home and “not go looking for trouble”? Using your logic, 100’s of citizens had already been out of their homes not just “looking for trouble,” but finding it by rioting, arson, etc., long before the arrival of Rittenhouse. So logically, had that latter group just stayed home, it’s very likely Rittenhouse wouldn’t have been out either. Not only did Rittenhouse have the right to be out of his home, he had the right to legally carry his legal weapon. And when he was forced by the “trouble” he found to defend himself, he did what he had a constitutional right to do.

Character? If you bought 3 vowels and 6 consonants, you still wouldn’t have any.

    5. Devra, you say that if he had “stayed at home” then none of this would have happened. Yes, then that psycho Rosenbaum would have attacked somebody else.

Kyle had a right to be there and committed so crime. End of story.

Stand for something, FFS. Stop hiding in the corner.

    6. Meh, what was lost really? Not much and now KR is gonna be a very rich kid.

There should be KR’s all over the streets in PDX, NYC, you name a liberal shithole and they should be there because the libs aren’t making anything better, never ever have.

They talk a good game (at least they used to, now it’s just moronic CRT BS), but they do not improve lives, they do not improve communities…Problem is, wherever you go there you are.

    7. “If he had stayed in the house where he should have , , ,”

      If she hadn’t worn a short skirt . . .

“[T]he solution is not for someone to take the law in their own hands.”

So the politicians and police abandon their most sacred responsibility — to protect the property and lives of innocent citizens. What then is one supposed to do? Cower in a fetal position? Hope upon hope that the arson-set fires don’t reach your business or home? Click your heels and chant: “They’re just peaceful protestors?” Allow barbarians to destroy everything that is near and dear to you?

In the face of rabid animals running amok, passivity is suicide.

  16. Want to defund police, citizens will police, don’t want to protect citizens from ANTIFA/BLM, YOU FORCE citizens to protect themselves. Give us back our peace and safety, protect us from these criminals.

  17. So what you’re saying is, there are, at least, a few remaining serene, coherent, rational and good American people left in Kenosha, Wisconsin?

    Who’d a thunk it?
