Did Jussie Smollett Take the Cannoli?

There was an interesting interview recently with Chicago’s Ex-Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson who explained why he was immediately suspicious of the account of actor Jussie Smollett. The first thing that Johnson noticed was that Smollett went through an alleged vicious attack where bleach was thrown on him but still held on to his Subway sandwich. Johnson said that victims usually drop everything in such an attack.  Of course, Smollett could note that real professionals like Peter Clemenza always remember to “leave the gun, take the cannoli.”

Johnson told NewsNationNow’s “Morning in America” that Smollett left his home around 2 a.m. which is a bit odd to go and buy the sandwich.
“OK, that’s fine. He comes back and gets attacked in a hate crime, supposed hate crime, and during all this scuffle – they poured bleach on him and all of this – when he got up and went into his apartment building he still had that Subway sandwich with him. That doesn’t happen.”

He added real victims do not do that. They usually drop what they have “because they’re afraid.” Not to mention when the victim claims to have been doused in an unknown chemical: “This guy had the sandwich in his hand, never been touched. So that was a real tip and a clue to us that something was amiss.”

Johnson also added an interesting second point that he still had the noose around his neck when police arrived: “I don’t think there are many Black people in America that would have a noose around their neck, and wouldn’t immediately take it off.”
Of course, a good Subway sandwich may be like a good cannoli, it is a shame to waste:

  1. Looks like Smolette is about to be sued by Chicago and by both the Nigerians.

He wanted attention. Now he is getting it.

So many of these ‘hate crimes’ [all of them?] are hoaxes that it is about time some perpetrator paid for it. Usually universities and other organizations just say ‘bygones’ and so they get more of them. These vile acts are intended to raise racial hostility and they do. They need to stop.

    1. “[I]t is about time some perpetrator paid for it.”

At least one of the perpetrators of the Duke lacrosse hoax “paid for it.” That hoax cost Duke University about $100 million, with an estimated $20 million to each of the three falsely accused students.

  2. Jonathan: The Jussie Smollett case is small potatoes–a diversion by you to avoid discussing some real interesting news. The House select committee is quietly investigating Trump’s conspiracy to overturn the 202 election. Now the committee has received some blockbuster docs showing how far the conspiracy went. Mark Meadows, Trump’s former Chief of Staff, is at the center. Phil Waldron, a retired army colonel, developed a Power Point presentation early on that showed how a declaration of national emergency could be used as cover to nullify the Certification of the 2020 election results to keep Trump in power. Waldron sent the Power Point to Meadows who shared it with Trump. Trump loved it! Meadows also shared it with GOP Pennsylvania lawmakers who were outspoken in supporting Trump’s false claims of “election fraud”. Waldron’s scheme was apparently center stage at the Willard Hotel–the “command center” for those Trump allies who wanted to overturn the election. That also included John Eastman and his “coup memo” who you have previously defended. The House select committee now has Waldron’s 38-slide presentation titled: “Election Fraud, Foreign Interference and Options for 6 Jan.”. No wonder Meadows refuses to give testimony to the House select committee! Why have you refused to cover this important development?

    1. Race-baiting is a crucial issue that you wish to hide from sight.

These things never occurred, yet the Dems tried to remove a sitting President with lies, even attempting to carry in a wire. These are things that Democrats did.

We have Joe Biden on tape committing corruption that appears proven by a whole assortment of other data that is tangible. You are dealing with talk, and they are spinning it. All sorts of things are talked about but what counts is the actions taken.

Committees of Democrats are well known for being untruthful in their reports. Start with adam Schiff.

You seem to have a personal problem regarding race.

    2. Dennis: Turley won’t cover it because this topic isn’t on his assignment list from the Hate Network. Those assignments include: criticizing Democrats, defending Trump while ignoring his lies and illegal conduct, criticizing mainstream media, using his platform to try to breathe credibility into things like the phony “Hunter Biden scandal” story, criticizing women journalists and members of Congress, especially those of color, while ignoring truly unfit and scary Republican women like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert, igorning the Big Lie and Giuliani’s suspension from the practice of law and the well-documented reasons why his lying to courts cost him his law license, defending the SCOTUS, especially when it’s clear they are trying to overturn decades of laws upon which people have relied, and the list goes on–whatever the producers at the Hate Network think will rile up the disciples into believing they are the victims of “the Left, the Dems and the Libs”. The January 6th Commission now has clear evidence that Trump and his minions were trying to overthrow the valid election victory of Joe Biden by spinning a lie, knowing it was a lie. That is monumental news–a failed presidential candidate plotting to defeat the will of the American people, all to maintain power and control he cheated to get in the first place. That has never before happened in our history.

      1. Brace for impact, Natacha. Trump is coming roaring back in 2024. He is the People’s Choice. FJBLGB.

      2. I don’t know what your problem with Turley is. He gives sound reasoning for everything he says. I don’t always like what he says, but, I think he makes the legal case where I would not have understood the reasoning without his explanation. Turley seems very fair and gives his opinion based on facts and often says while he disagrees this is the legal standing on some things. Think that is about as even handed as anyone could ever be.

    3. Oooohhhh….. a PowerPoint! Gasp!! Yeah… you keep on trying to plow that “overturn the election” ground. The Democrats will wind up looking even more like a bunch of crazy paranoid idiots than they already are.

    4. “The Jussie Smollett case is small potatoes . . .”

You gotta love the Left’s dishonesty, and how it elevates lies, while devaluing the truth.

The case was big potatoes when it first hit the *international* media — with Leftist dignitaries decrying America’s blah, blah, blah. Now, though, once the facts are too obvious to deny — the case is “small potatoes.”

So, obvious falsehoods (Russian hoax, et al.) are big potatoes. And the truth is small potatoes.

  3. It would be Orwellian to punish people for their emotions. The kind of thing I would expect from a third world dictatorship with an arbitrary ruler.

  4. There is no such thing as a “Hate Crime”.

Just as there is no such thing as “Social Justice”.

Murder is Murder…Justice is Justice…and right on down the line.

Does it matter “Why” I commit a crime such as assault, rape, robbery, murder….the crime itself is all that matters…..the “Why” might explain “motive”….but the act itself is the crime.

The KKK in Robes and Hoods burning down a Black Church…..is Arson.

A Mob lynching someone is Murder.

Two White Guys wearing MAGA Hats in the wee. hours of a below freezing night on a snow covered wind blown street in Chicago is an assault….not a Hate Crime.

Lets get back to reality here….Justice covers everyone…no matter the circumstances.

    Same for crimes.

Lets drop the adjectives and hyphens and get back to the LAW….old fashioned….unadorned LAW…..and apply it evenly and fairly and punish those who violate it and do so in a manner that is commensurate to the harm done to the victim.

    1. Totally agree with Raph. No murder could be a hate crime unless all murders are hate crimes because it is not love that caused someone to murder you. Same true for all crimes.

  5. Hate crimes are so few the left has to provide the events.

Just like the lie that white supremacy is the largest domestic threat.
Government agents and paid informants comprise the majority of the members.

  6. Sometimes you forget what you’re holding in your hand in an emergency. But if he still had that sandwich, it should have either been crushed, or flung on the dirty street and picked up as he left the scene.

I consider what Smollett did to be a hate crime against white Republican voters. Similarly, when someone pretends to be the victim of a crime, and makes up a story about being attacked by black men, sometimes leading to the arrest of innocent people, that’s a racist crime. Smollett’s fraud threw fuel to the anti-white, anti-Republican voter bigotry burning so fiercely in America.

It bears repeating. Jews did not need to resort to hoaxes to prove anti-semitism in Nazi Germany. Blacks did not need to make up stories about persecution and discrimination during Apartheid. If you are really living in a country systemically biased against you, you would have plenty of real examples. Not “microaggressions”, such as claiming that showing your work in math is racist.

The fact that there are so often either hoaxes, or misreporting on incidents supports the belief that this is not an oppressive country for blacks. Well, that and the regular influx of black immigrants from other countries, who thrive here. People do not generally migrate in large numbers to countries that oppress them.

It was a dirty trick pulled by Jussie Smollett. He failed to show shame and remorse. Unrepentant.

    1. Well said, Karen S. There is also rampant institutionalised racism the other way, through so-called affirmative action, in college admissions, set-asides, hiring and promotions. The high priest of anti-racism, Ibram X Kendi, embarrassed himself by tweeting about the number of white college applicants who pretend to be black in order to get in under the lax standards that apply to black applicants; he deleted the tweet once he grasped what this showed.

      1. “Daniel:” -What sent me to law school (I had been in medicine) was the SCOTUS’s Bakke decision, -the seminal case affirming the legal concept of “reverse discrimination.” Thanks for reminding readers of more examples.

      2. Is it unconstitutional to have an opinion on race?

Does the Constitution prescribe whom citizens love and whom they reject?

I thought the Constitution provided freedom of speech, thought, opinion, religion, belief, etc.

Perhaps you’ve confused America with a dictatorship somewhere – China, North Korea, Cuba, Vietnam, Russia, European Union, etc., perhaps.

      3. Daniel — Kendi has let the cat out of the bag on may occasions, proving that the “progressive” left doesn’t mind discrimination and racism as long as the “right” group is targeted. Kendi’s most memorable quote is: “The only remedy to racist discrimination is antiracist discrimination. The only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination. The only remedy to present discrimination is future discrimination.” There it is — not at all original, but somehow this guy is supposed to represent the apex of anti-racist thinking. He’s just a huckster for affirmative action on steroids.

    2. OMG! You have the gall to talk about some nobody actor failing to show shame and remorse and being unrepentant when you worship a fat slob who admitted to lying about a dangerous virus causing a pandemic which resulted in the deaths of 130,000 Americans? What the hell is wrong with you? You are a perfect example of a Trump disciple: you have plenty of criticism for a black person who does wrong, even stretching your animus to the point of calling it an attack on “white Republicans”, but you don’t care one whit about the fact that your hero tried to overturn American democracy in 2020 by making up a lie about the Chinese manipulating votes, using this lie as a ruse for seizing ballots, declaring an emergency, declaring Democratic votes invalid and tryng to get swing state legislatures to ignore the valid votes cast by their citizens and to appoint pro-Trump electors. This doesn’t bother you, nor does the fact that Republicans are trying to take control of local election board and to oust Democratic members, especially black Democratic members, plus passing laws to make it harder for probable Democrats to vote, not to mention gerrymandering. All so a big fat slob who decimated our economy and who tried to stage a co up to stay in power can try to once again defeat the will of the American people. But, according to you, it’s Jussie Smollett who is “attacking” white Republicans. You are such a dope.

      1. Natacha,

You/others can’t run far enough to get away from your problems.

    3. Smollett and his media and political enablers were intent of starting a race war.

Pushing the Capitol Insurrection narrative is merely their projection.

  7. This is what good comedy is made of (dangling prepreosition); but we can’t laugh anymore.

    1. Good comedy is made of this, but we can’t laugh anymore.

      And yet, the aberration persists.

  8. One of the great film lines. Not in the book by Puzo. Not in the script by Coppola and Puzo. Invented by Richard Castellano as Clemenza.
