Members of Congress Demand Report on Border Patrol Officers Accused By President Biden

Customs and Border Protection Shoulder PatchWe have previously discussed how the Biden Administration appears to be withholding the conclusions of investigations into Border Patrol agents that President Joe Biden accused of whipping migrants from horseback. Now, members of Congress are raising concern over an account from an anonymous DHS official that they now do not believe that they will release the report.

The letter sent to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas demands to know the status of the report and the status of these officers who may still be on administrative leave or temporary duties. The letter states:

“It has been more than four months since senior members of the Biden Administration, including President Biden and Press Secretary, Jen Psaki participated in a widely spread falsehood and accused United States Border Patrol agents of ‘whipping’ Haitian migrants attempting to illegally cross into the United States near Del Rio, Texas on September 19, 2021.”

As noted earlier, Biden’s Red Queen justice approach was most alarming with regards to the agents who were falsely accused of “whipping” undocumented immigrants on the southern border. Before any investigation was actually started, Biden expressed anger at the agents and publicly pledged punishment: “It was horrible what — to see, as you saw — to see people treated like they did: horses nearly running them over and people being strapped. It’s outrageous. I promise you, those people will pay.”

“Those people” are federal employees who have a right to due process and a presumption of innocence, including from the man who heads their branch of government. However, the President of the United States declared them to be guilty as the matter was sent for investigation. That creates an obvious pressure on lower-ranked executive branch officials to reach the same conclusion — to not contradict the President.

The question is why this call has only come from Republicans and largely ignored by the media. I thought that transparency was not just key to democracy but a value supported by both political parties. There is no reason given for the total blackout on information from the DHS Secretary and his agency. In the initial days of the controversy, President Biden and others did not hesitate to hold forth on the alleged facts of the case. Now, however, the promise of a quick investigation has dragged on for months without explanation.

  1. It has been ignored because it was called for by people that were not a part of the DNC. Can the Professor really be this naive at this point in time? Particularly when he himself has been subject to all of the heavy handedness? Come on.

    ‘I voted for you, and I’m disappointed’: Mother of woman killed by drunk illegal alien slams Biden
    The mother of a 19-year-old who was killed by an illegal immigrant in a hit-and-run said she is ‘disappointed’ with the Biden administration’s new policies that will see her daughter’s alleged killer stay in the country despite being in the U.S. illegally.

    ‘My message is, look out for the American people first,’ Rhonda Exum told Fox News during a panel of victims of crime by illegal immigrants when asked what she would tell Biden’s team when it comes to border policies.

    ‘Truth be told, this was literally my first time voting and I voted for you, and I feel disappointed right now,’ Exum added.

    Heriberto Fuerte-Padilla, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, was driving drunk in November 2020 when he caused a car crash in Texas, killing 19-year-old Adrienne Sophia. The accused tried to flee the scene but was caught by police.

  3. “Your position seems to be that any comment critical of the left must be prefaced with a paragraph or two pointing out that whatever is to follow, Trump did something far worse.”

    No, that’s not my position at all, nor is it anywhere close to what I said. You’ve mistakenly inferred this.

    “In my opinion, Prof. Turley has rare intellectual integrity.”

    You and I have very different opinions about that. People often have different opinions.

    “A rational, counterpoint is to point out where and why his analysis has gone awry.”

    First, I think it’s quite rational to point out hypocrisy and ignoring relevant evidence, especially since Turley is a professor, as both are contrary to academic integrity.

    Second, I did what you prefer in my last paragraph.

  4. THE MYTH OF INVISIBLE POPULATIONS

    For years Donald Trump has claimed that ‘millions’ more ‘Illegals’ reside in the U.S. than official statistics reflect. Yet Trump directed his Commerce Secretary to exclude ‘Illegals’ from the 2020 Census.

    Trump sought this exclusion as a poison pill to Blue States by denying Federal Funding based on population. This denial would motivate Blue States to cooperate in deporting ‘Illegals’.

    But by excluding ‘Illegals’, from official Census counts, Trump would have forfeited reliable population numbers.

    Luckily career civil servants (deep state) made a good faith effort to foil Trump’s plot; getting a more accurate count than Trump would have liked.

    Trump supporters continue claiming ‘Illegals’ are subverting our national identity. It’s the Replacement Theory: ‘White Christians are being replaced by Spanish-speaking Catholics.

    But this idea that millions of ‘Illegals’ are hiding in plain sight is nonsensical. Government Staticians have numerous indicators to gauge community populations.

    One can start with Water & Power Usage.

    High volume usage is impossible to hide. Local providers know where water and power are going. Providers have comparative models to estimate community populations.

    Population indicators exist in a wide range of community stats:

    * Vehicle Traffic

    * Pedestrian Traffic

    * Parked Cars On Streets

    * Parking Tickets issued

    * Auto Accidents

    * Arrests

    * Medical Emergencies

    * School Enrollments

    * Bank Activity

    * Currency Exchange Transactions

    * Gasoline Pumped at Stations

    * Commerce at local businesses

    * Garbage Collections

    * Deliveries (Postal, Fed-Ex, UPS)

    …………………………………………………………

    There exists a broad range of indicators Urbanologists can use to create population models. ‘Millions’ of people cannot possibly live beneath the radar; escaping all notice.

    Human presence reflects in numerous statistics routinely reported to Federal, State and Local Governments.

    1. The methodology sounds true but the results, as any statistician knows, can be skewed by anyone with a purpose, both on the left and the right. The ONLY fact that remains is that there should be ZERO illegals in this nation but since loose borders allow their presence we should realize that all administrations that failed to do their utmost to secure the borders have abdicated their duty and oath of office. The fact that the left now uses illegals as a cudgel against the right and a supporting cause for themselves is the most offensive of notions.

  5. Transparency a value of both parties. C’mon man. What are you smoking? Hunter’s travels with the Secret Service on a taxpayer paid plane, Hillary’s email trove, Julian Assange’s life’s work, Podesta’s coverup with the IT firm who bleached the servers and never let the FBI examine them…shall I go on? Adam Schiff’s “incontrovertible evidence?” I’m sure someone could make a list from the other side just as long. Our government is full of despicable criminals. They’re behind every tree.

  6. Those were split reins. Not whips. Release the report and clear the honor of the Border Patrol.

    Joe Biden must apologize.

    And the next time, journalists should take a few minutes to research a story before printing.

    This is like when people get upset thinking we’re blindfolding our horses when they wear screen fly masks in summer to keep flies out of their eyes.

  7. I thought that transparency was not just key to democracy but a value supported by both political parties. It is a key to democracy. Has no place in modern US politics.

  8. And finding the right horse for “The Lone Ranger” named “Silver” was no small task.

  9. When are members of Congress going to call for, going to demand, that our President, Joe Biden, undergo a test of his cognitive abilities, with results being made public —

    1. Why make it specific to Biden?

      Do you want them to pass legislation requiring this of all Presidents while in office? of all Presidential candidates? of all members of Congress? …

    2. RLowe-Taking my Carnac envelope to forehead I predict he will be hospitalized in the 3rd month of 2023 and unable to continue in his official office. Disclaimer: I also predicted they could find Judge J F Crater on the moon, but you never know?

    3. Richard,

      Mental exam for Biden?

      Maybe never because they know they would be stuck with Kamala The Giggling Idiot.

      1. Exactly, she is the ultimate insurance against moving to rid themselves of this sack of dead brain cells.

          1. It would be amusing to note just how much TDS there still is out there but that the left’s h*ll-bent for leather attempts to destroy this constitutional federal republic is quite tragic. Just why does the left need to constantly refer to Trump as a deflection from the facts at hand – pitiful display of cognitive ability.

  10. “That creates an obvious pressure on lower-ranked executive branch officials to reach the same conclusion — to not contradict the President.”

    Hmm. Do you also think there was pressure on lower-ranked executive branch officials to reach the same conclusion as Trump and file charges against several people who Trump, while President, said should be locked up (Clinton, the Bidens, Gretchen Whitmer, …).

    “I thought that transparency was not just key to democracy but a value supported by both political parties.”

    Why would you think that it’s supported by both political parties when there’s plenty of evidence that both parties sometimes try to prevent transparency? (To be fair, both parties also sometimes support transparency.) For goodness sake, the Senate Republicans filibustered a non-partisan bicameral National Commission to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the United States Capitol Complex, where the Republicans would have had as much power as Democrats to appoint members.

    1. Good to see the “yeahbutTrump” algorithm is still up and running.
      Good thing staying on point is not a thing anymore.

      1. My opinion is that Turley’s hypocrisy and his frequent choice to ignore evidence contrary to his claims *is* on point.

        1. Your position seems to be that any comment critical of the left must be prefaced with a paragraph or two pointing out that whatever is to follow, Trump did something far worse.
          In my opinion, Prof. Turley has rare intellectual integrity. His loyalty and agenda is in defense of the Constitution and the rule of law, chips fall where they may.
          A rational, counterpoint is to point out where and why his analysis has gone awry.
          Crying hypocrisy and playing the Trump card (pun intended) is not an argument, it is a device to deflect from the fact that you have no argument.

            1. I have to admit, lin, I find it rather amusing that you have either confused me with Jeff (when our writing styles are quite different) or are trying to bring him into a conversation that he hasn’t been a party to.

                1. lin,

                  Your response of “?????” is a bit puzzling.

                  I posted a top-level comment at 10:42 AM yesterday.
                  JBBooks responded to me at 11:23 AM yesterday, creating a sub-thread.
                  I responded to JBBooks at 11:37 AM.
                  JBBooks responded to me at 9:01 AM this morning.
                  You then responded to JBBooks 9:01 AM comment with “JBBooks: Very good comment. Jeff, did you read it?”

                  Jeff has not participated in this sub-thread, so I replied re: your having asked Jeff a question. I don’t know whether you confused me with Jeff (thinking that JBBooks reply was to Jeff rather than me), or if you were instead trying to bring Jeff into a discussion that he has thus-far not participated in.

                  Just what is it that you don’t understand here?

          1. It looks like my earlier response hasn’t posted.

            Here it is again:

    2. And the Dems filibustered (just a week before they wanted to nuke it…hypocrites) a bill to sanction the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which Biden is now threatening Putin with. How does that work? They killed it and then 3 weeks later they want to weaponize it. What a bunch of amateurs.

  11. Thank you to the good professor for reminding us about this story, which the Biden administration and the MEDIA had milked for days, if not weeks. I had mostly forgotten about it. Perhaps that’s what the Biden administration wants us to do.

  12. Wow, you are a stickler for the truth and transparency when it does not involve Trump. Trump threw all kinds of false allegations against all kinds of people, never corrects, never apologizes, never backs up his allegations – even tried to extort the President of Ukraine to announce an investigation into Hunter.

    Turley was fine with all that. But now We need to insist on full transparency, truth, presumption of innocence when Biden is President.

  13. So what is new under the Sun?

    We are waiting for many revelations from the Biden Administration and Congress….the Durham Report, the Grand Jury proceedings targeting Hunter and Jim Biden, the January 6th Investigation and prosecutions, explanations by the Attorney General on the DOJ/FBI targeting of Parents, the drumbeat to go to War with Russia over Ukraine, origins of the Wuhan Virus, the Afghanistan Evacuation, Covid Mandates, …..lots of things. What is one more?

    1. You are so correct, but until the majority of citizens require transparency instead of a list of free stuff from the government, it will not end. The creation of the welfare state/The Great Society has produced a class of voters who are only interested in getting free stuff. The end of that system is the only hope for our nation to survive as it was created.

  14. This incident is just the tip of the iceberg that is the hidden facts of the Biden White House occupancy. I doubt if we will ever, in our lifetimes, know the depth of what the dems have done to “fundamentally transform” this nation but the ONLY hope we have at this time is to hold tight to the constitution and keep it secure as the rule of our nation. Those on the right who do not stand for the penultimate rule of our constitution need to be expunged for the party and held as examples of traitors to the nation. (We already know the status of 99% of the dem party).

    1. Don’t you just love how powerful Biden is. He has been able in one year to remake the. USA. Dear Maggaheads, get a grip!

      1. Biden is just the benign tip of an iceberg that has been cruising our waters since the days of Woodrow Wilson. We accepted the fleeing socialists from the end of WWI and they were ensconced in our education/media industry and working on our “transformation” ever since. You are a fool if you only dwell in the current issuances of our so-called free press at this time. Read your history, that is the key to all of this.

  15. The answer seems clear — the report obviously found no wrongdoing on the part of the agents, and the administration is covering up yet another idiotic statement by this clown of a president. If they did attempt to make the report public, Biden would probably have to search the globe for somewhere to start another war to deflect from his disastrous domestic blunders. His empty threats against Russia are already fizzling out.
