University North Texas Protesters Cancel Event on Child Gender Transitioning

We have been following campaigns on college campuses to prevent dissenting or conservative views from being heard, including the recent successful effort to block a Georgetown professor from speaking at Hastings College of Law. Now a new videotape has been posted on conservative sites of protesters shouting down a father who is an opponent of child gender transitions at the University of North Texas.

Jeff Younger is the father who opposed the effort of his ex-wife to put their child through gender transitioning. Student protesters were determined not to allow others to hear his experience or viewpoints at an event sponsored by the Young Conservatives of Texas campus chapter. The event was titled “Criminalize Child Transitions.” While this effort to criminalize such transitions is deeply offensive for many (and a court recently stopped an investigation into such transitioning by the state), colleges were once places where such ideas could be debated and discussed.

Protesters succeeded using the very same tactics that were shown at Hastings, pounding the table and screaming such things as “f**k you facist” to prevent others from being able to hear.

Unfortunately, the “heckler’s veto” once again prevailed. Blocking others from speaking is not the exercise of free speech. It is the very antithesis of free speech. Nevertheless, faculty have supported such claims. CUNY Law Dean Mary Lu Bilek showed how far this trend has gone. When conservative law professor Josh Blackman was stopped from speaking about “the importance of free speech,”  Bilek insisted that disrupting the speech on free speech was free speech. (Bilek later cancelled herself and resigned).

What was even more chilling was the pursuit of organizers and speakers by the protesters. It was reminiscent of other campus scenes where faculty and students were physically attacked by such mobs.

Organizers alleged that many of the black hooded protesters were Antifa, the country’s most organized and active anti-free speech movement.

UNT President Neal Smatresk stated:

“These actions culminated with a group of protestors swarming police, who were working to safely escort both the guest speaker and student organizers off campus. DPS was called in to assist with maintaining safety. A group of protestors surrounded the police vehicles containing both the student organizers and their guest and attempted to block their exit from the scene by banging on the vehicles and impeding their movement. … UNT Police and the other supporting agencies were able to get the student organizers and their guest to safety, while also dispersing the protestors without further incident.

We have always touted the importance of freedom of expression and been proud of our students’ ability to speak up for themselves and participate in nonviolent protest. … We have always been a passionate community that stands up for our ideals, but last night’s behavior by some individuals is not reflective of the UNT I know and love.”

Organizers insist that it was not just outsiders but students who participated in the effort to cancel the event.

The tactics are certainly consistent with Antifa. I have testified on Antifa and its threat to free speech on our campuses. I specifically disagreed with the statement of House Judiciary Committee Chair Jerry Nadler that Antifa (and its involvement in violent protests) is a “myth.”  It is at its base a movement at war with free speech, defining the right itself as a tool of oppression.

That purpose is evident in what is called the “bible” of the Antifa movement: Rutgers Professor Mark Bray’s Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook.

Bray emphasizes the struggle of the movement against free speech: “At the heart of the anti-fascist outlook is a rejection of the classical liberal phrase that says, ‘I disapprove of what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it.’”

Indeed, Bray admits that “most Americans in Antifa have been anarchists or antiauthoritarian communists…  From that standpoint, ‘free speech’ as such is merely a bourgeois fantasy unworthy of consideration.” It is an illusion designed to promote what Antifa is resisting “white supremacy, hetero-patriarchy, ultra-nationalism, authoritarianism, and genocide.” Thus, all of these opposing figures are deemed fascistic and thus unworthy of being heard.

Bray quotes one Antifa member as summing up their approach to free speech as a “nonargument . . . you have the right to speak but you also have the right to be shut up.”

  1. Child gender transitioning may one day be viewed by future generations with the same horror as the Castrati of Italian opera.

The human mind takes years to develop, well into adulthood. Making children question their gender or identity at an age too young to process may lead to profound psychological and physical consequences. A young child can easily be led to believe that if he likes stereotypically girl behaviors, then he must be a girl.

Gender transition of children has catastrophic, lifelong consequences. Puberty blockers cause permanent changes in the body, and carry serious medical risks. Changing the name and identity carries psychological consequences. Gender reassignment surgery means castration, sterilization, mastectomy in girls, and it does NOT create the real reproductive organs of the opposite sex. A vaginoplasty creates a body cavity that is a permanent wound. It grafts skin that was never meant to be in an internal structure, and it does not create healthy fluids. It must be maintained forever. Infections and bad smells are common. In 50 years, if they’re still alive, these people are going to require very specialized care in nursing homes. The consequences of the surgery itself can become a source of depression and suicidal thoughts.

Transgenderism carries a high suicide rate, which remains high AFTER sexual reassignment surgery. The rate of transgenderism is skyrocketing. We humans are genetically the same as we were 50 years ago. If people are born this way, then they were born this way 50 years ago. What changed is the fervent proselytizing of transgenderism to children too young to understand the consequences. Those who claim they are transgender are showered with attention, reinforcing the behavior.

The tragedy of it all is that the overwhelming majority of children who identify as transgender grow out of it by the time they are 18, if they do not take the path of sex reassignment, including puberty blockers. If you read the stories of people who transitioned, but regretted it, it’s heart breaking.

Do no harm. That means don’t sterilize children.

Let people decide how they want to live when they are adults.

My gender is not a state of mind.

  2. Jonathan: You missed a number of salient facts from post about the dispute at UNT. Republican Gov. Abbott, up for reelection, is appealing to “traditional family values” voters by issuing his directive to have state agencies investigate parents for “child abuse” if they seek gender-affirming medical care for their trans-gender children. It was a political directive not one based on Texas law. One Texas judge has temporarily halted the directive in one case. DAs in five of the largest Texas counties say they will refuse to abide by the Abbott directive, or AG Paxton’s opinion, because they are “an egregious invasion of privacy” under the Texas Constitution.

Against this backdrop Jeff Younger appeared at UNT to “Criminalize Child Transitions”. Back in 2019 Younger lost custody of his trans-gender daughter over the mother’s efforts to seek gender-affirming medical care for their daughter. Since then Younger has become one of the anti-trans spokespersons and is a candidate for the Texas House. He wants to put parents in prison (particularly his ex-wife) for following medical advice on the best care for their trans-gender kids. It is all about politics. Most medical organizations have condemned legislation to restrict gender-affirming medical care because the separation of a child from parent(s) can cause a range of harmful consequences, including depression and other medical problems. It is bizarre that parents in Texas will deluge school districts with complaints over what is taught in school, claiming “parental rights”, but then turn around want the state to interfere and take children away from their families. Hardly a contradictory position that elicits much public support in the Lone Star state.

When Younger appeared at UNT to speak he was met with jeers. He egged on the crowd by telling students “Come on, communists. Let’s go commies”. That angered the students even further and they forced Younger to leave and a melee occurred outside the venue. In an ideal world Younger should have been allowed to speak followed by the right of students to speak in opposition to Younger’s distorted views of what constitutes “child abuse”. That’s your ideal world of “free speech”. But in this “age of rage”, as you call it, emotions are running high. What would you have done? Call in the police to drag out the protesters so Younger could speak? That would have violated the “free speech” rights of the protesters. I blame Gov. Abbott. He could have gone to the Texas legislature and asked for a change in the law. He didn’t because that would take time and he wanted to score cheap political points in what could be a tight race for governor this year.

But in this case, as in the case at Hastings, you blame Antifa. At Hastings you say the protesters used “tactics”…”consistent with Antifa”. Hardly the kind of proof that would stand up in a court of law. You say the organizers of the Younger event “alleged that many of the black hooded protesters were Antifa”. If they wore black hoods how could they possibly be identified as belonging to any organization? But that was good enough for you because you want to stigmatize student protest as part of some grand conspiracy by Antifa. I am sure the actual leaders of this loosely organized group would be pleased to know they have so much influence all over the country. You also demean students by implying they can’t think for themselves on important issues. They don’t need the Antifa handbook to recognize a racist or someone who is just mad at his ex-wife over a custody battle he lost! But you and the conservative right are champions of lost causes. Shapiro and Younger are all you have. When you show the same concern for the banning of books in Texas or telling teachers and administrators what is permissible “speech” in the classroom then I will take your “free speech” cause seriously.

    1. So Dennis, you are all in on cutting of the penis of a boy child and cutting of the breasts of a female child. Why are er not surprised.

      1. In this, like in many other issues the modern leftists have done a complete 180 (free speech being the greatest example) from where liberals were as recently as 10-20 years ago. Twenty years ago there was outrage about Middle East and African nations allowing the practice of genital mutilation of children, now, modern leftists are fully behind genital mutilation in pursuit of a transgender ideology. Only the excuses have changed for the mutilation. The modern left is opposition to most of what the prior generation of liberals believed in. And they wonder why more and more people are beginning to consider them fascists.

    2. Dennis:

Dragging out hecklers violates their free speech???? Boy do you need a course in free speech or logic or life!

      1. “Dragging out hecklers violates their free speech????”

The Left favors dragging out truckers for disturbing traffic. But they oppose dragging out hecklers for disturbing speech. There’s is neither a consistent nor a principled argument.

    3. Dennis:

Don’t you feel that castrating children is child abuse? Do you think giving them puberty blockers, which carry permanent, life long effects and serious health risks, when they’re too young to understand the consequences, is child abuse?

The vast majority of children who identify as transgender grow out of it by age 18, if they do not go on puberty blockers or surgically transition. Given that, do you think it’s child abuse to sterilize a child too young to understand?

A child’s mind grows and evolves well into adulthood. That’s why they are not allowed to buy a gun, or get married at age 12, or make other life altering decisions. Yet if a child comes home from school and says he’s a girl, do you think it’s wise to set him on the path of castration?

I think this fad of gender transitioning children is going to be looked upon with horror by future generations.

I do assure you that people sincerely believe this is child abuse. It’s not a political ploy or made up opinion.

Teachers are telling kids that gender is not based on biology, chromosomes, genitals, behavior, or anything else concrete. They say it’s just how you feel, but no transgender activist can ever define “man” or “woman.” They use the word to define itself. You’re a woman if you feel like a woman. OK, what is a woman? A feeling? Defined by what? Only an individual can say… It’s false logic on meth. Then teachers shower praise on kids who decide to play along and say they’re transgender. No wonder more kids than ever before are identifying as transgender. What’s even more frightening is that many schools hide this from parents. Some even rename the kid in school, or encourage them to change into “gender affirming” clothes at school. This reinforces transgender behavior, which carries a high risk of suicide and castration. YES, this is child abuse.

As for Jeff Younger, his wife decided his boy was a girl, and has put him on the road that will lead to puberty blockers, castration, and a high likelihood of suicide. When his son was at his house, he’d say he was a boy, dress like a boy, and act like a boy. When he went to his mother’s house, she’d dress him like a girl, paint his nails, and call him Luna. Jeff Younger is fighting back against child mutilation in Texas. He also objected to any counseling that automatically affirmed transgenderism and refused to take into account that James was happily a boy at his Dad’s home. He started the movement “Save James”.

You might not agree with Jeff Younger. Hopefully you can understand that he’s a father who sincerely believes his ex-wife will permanently mutilate their son if the court allows her to do so.

I personally believe that there may be an element of Munchausen by Proxy in some transgenderism cases.

      https://texasscorecard.com/video/saving-james-ending-child-mutilation-in-texas/

The Left went too far when it went after kids.

      1. Karen: “I personally believe that there may be an element of Munchausen by Proxy in some transgenderism cases.”
        +++

I came to the same conclusion mostly with boys influenced or controlled by mothers.

With girls I think it is more an attention getting mechanism at play. They see one girl lavished with attention for being transgender and seek the same. It has happened with early pregnancy when a pregnant girl remains in school and becomes a focus of concern and caring. Suddenly a lot of girls are pregnant. In ancient Miletus there was a rash of girl suicides and the famous wise man, Thales, was asked for help. He said decree that all girls who commit suicide must be naked at their funeral. The suicides stopped.

I think the pressure to be transgender is different for both sexes.

  3. A Texas judge issued a temporary restraining order Wednesday that blocked the state’s child-welfare agency from investigating a couple for child abuse . . . .I hope CPS told the judge to take that TRO and shove it.

A court can’t enjoin the police from intervening in a crime in progress.

      1. That’s what the investigation is for. The court exceeded its authority.

  4. Anonymous cites:

“The State Bar of California’s Chief Trial Counsel George Cardona announced today that since September 2021, his office has been conducting an investigation of John Charles Eastman (State Bar No. 193726), a California licensed attorney.”

You would think that Turley would have something to say about the consequences which have befallen a CONSERVATIVE lawyer for speaking out:

    1. On Eastman being forced out of his position at his law school which stated:

“After discussions over the course of the last week, Dr. John Eastman and Chapman University have reached an agreement pursuant to which he will retire from Chapman, effective immediately. Dr. Eastman’s departure closes this challenging chapter for Chapman and provides the most immediate and certain path forward for both the Chapman community and Dr. Eastman.”

    Turley has said nothing.

    2. On Eastman having his California law license investigated for engaging in “conduct in violation of California law and ethics rules governing attorneys following and in relation to the November 2020 presidential election” on account of his Memorandum to Pence, Turley has been mum.

    3. On Eastman’s assertion that he is withholding his emails, held by his former employer Chapman University, by citing attorney-client and attorney work-product privileges, Turley is as silent as the grave.

Turley’s uncharacteristic silence raises 2 possibilities:

    1. Turley believes that Eastman has no defenses and privately approves of the 1/6 investigation. Why wouldn’t he. After all, he called upon Congress to censure Trump for his reckless speech on 1/6;

    2. Turley is ignoring Eastman because Fox News is. Amidst the defamation lawsuits filed against Fox for promulgating the Big Lie, the less said about the Big Lie, the better. Better to ignore the legal repercussions of those Trumpist lawyers who were promoted on Fox News driving the false narrative that the election was stolen.

As it becomes more and more evident that Trump and his lieutenants were perpetuating a fraud that the election was stolen, the worse it looks for Fox and Turley. The former was instrumental in advancing the lie while the latter pretended that the Trumpists were acting in good faith.

    1. Re: “Eastman’s assertion that he is withholding his emails, held by his former employer Chapman University, by citing attorney-client and attorney work-product privileges,” maybe Eastman should have read Chapman’s own stance about email before using his university email account for this, because Chapman is quite explicit that “Although Chapman University does not make a practice of monitoring e-mail, the University reserves the right to retrieve the contents of University-owned computers and e-mail messages for legitimate reasons. As such, Users should not expect privacy in the contents of University-owned computers or e-mail messages” (https://www.chapman.edu/campus-services/information-systems/policies-and-procedures/acceptable-use-policy.aspx). A legal subpoena is presumably among the “legitimate reasons” that Chapman might retrieve email contents.

In its recent response to Eastman’s motion trying to prevent the Jan. 6 Committee from gaining access to what Eastman describes as “privileged communications and … privileged work product incidentially [sic] using his law school email,” the Committee noted (a) the crime-fraud exception to attorney-client privilege and (b) evidence of Eastman having conferred with Trump about a crime:
“The evidence detailed above provides, at minimum, a good-faith basis for concluding that President Trump has violated section 18 U.S.C. § 1512(c)(2). The elements of the offense under 1512(c)(2) are: (1) the defendant obstructed, influenced or impeded, or attempted to obstruct, influence or impede, (2) an official proceeding of the United States, and (3) that the defendant did so corruptly. ”

Multiple judges have upheld the DOJ’s application of 18 USC 1512(c)(2) in a number of different cases involving Jan. 6 defendants who’ve been charged. It will be interesting to see what the Judge assigned to Eastman v. Thompson has to say about it.

      1. Turley will not defend the indefensible unlike lying Trumpists. Again I say- Turley has always been a NeverTrumper from the day he described Trump as a “carnival snake charmer” conman.

  5. We are besieged from every direction by a small faction of militants who promote a warped and depraved new form of “morality.”

If this were so wonderful then why not allow full debate? Because it is not. It is permanent physical and psychological child abuse. It is mutilation.

If a person wants a sex change then they as an adult can work to scrape up the money to pay for the surgery out of pocket.

“Hey teacher, leave them kids alone!”

  6. “Beer For My Horses”

Well a man come on the 6 o’clock news
Said somebody’s been shot, somebody’s been abused
Somebody blew up a building, somebody stole a car
Somebody got away, somebody didn’t get too far yeah
    They didn’t get too far

Grandpappy told my pappy, back in my day, son
A man had to answer for the wicked that he done
Take all the rope in Texas find a tall oak tree,
Round up all them bad boys hang them high in the street
For all the people to see

We got too many gangsters doing dirty deeds
Too much corruption, and crime in the streets
It’s time the long arm of the law put a few more in the ground
Send ’em all to their maker and he’ll settle ’em down
You can bet he’ll set ’em down

‘Cause justice is the one thing you should always find
You got to saddle up your boys, you got to draw a hard line
When the gun smoke settles we’ll sing a victory tune
We’ll all meet back at the local saloon
And we’ll raise up our glasses against evil forces singing
Whiskey for my men, beer for my horses
Whiskey for my men, beer for my horses

  7. Transgenderism through surgical, medical, psychiatric, or popular conversion therapy?

At least they’re not conflating sex and gender. Here’s to progress.

  8. There are three types of pedophilia. One type is to control the child’s body for demented pleasure. The second type of pedophilia is to control the mind of the child for demented pleasure. https://www.amazon.com/AntiRacist-Baby-Ibram-X-Kendi/dp/0593110412/ref=nodl. This book is being used in the curriculum of elementary schools. The third type of pedophilia is to change the sex of a five year old through the removal of his or her body parts by the pedophiliac for his or her demented pleasure. Just remember what political party agrees with these actions and what political party doesn’t. One party believes that ANTIFA a dangerous organization and the other party believes that ANTIFA is a myth. You choose.

The State Bar of California’s Chief Trial Counsel George Cardona announced today that since September 2021, his office has been conducting an investigation of John Charles Eastman (State Bar No. 193726), a California licensed attorney. The investigation is focused on whether Eastman engaged in conduct in violation of California law and ethics rules governing attorneys following and in relation to the November 2020 presidential election.

The announcement is made pursuant to Business and Professions Code section 6086.1(b)(2) and State Bar Rule of Procedure 2302(d)(1), which authorize the Chief Trial Counsel, when warranted for protection of the public and after notice to the licensee, to issue an announcement confirming the fact of an investigation, clarifying the procedural aspects and current status of the investigation, and defending the right of a licensee to a fair hearing. Details of the investigation must remain confidential to comply with statutory limitations on disclosure and to give the investigation the greatest chance of success. Mr. Eastman has been advised of the Chief Trial Counsel’s announcement. …

In its response to John Eastman’s lawsuit against the Jan. 6 House Select Committee, the Committee included evidence that is relevant to the CA Bar’s investigation. Will they ultimately decide to disbar Eastman, given Eastman’s urging that the Vice President violate the Electoral Count Act? (See Eastman’s email to Pence’s lawyer here: https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/62613089/160/16/john-c-eastman-v-bennie-g-thompson/ )

      1. He didn’t, and he pleaded the Fifth almost 150 times in his deposition instead of further incriminating himself.

In a civil investigation, one can draw an adverse inference from a witness’s invocation of the Fifth Amendment.

      2. BTW, he admits in his email to Pence’s lawyer that he’s asking Pence to violate the Electoral Count Act.

Maybe you find it proper for a lawyer to ask someone to break the law, but I doubt you’ll find many judges who agree with you.

      3. Eastman also admitted in his email to Pence’s lawyer that he was asking Pence to violate the Electoral Count Act.

  10. What is tragic is that an army of insipid, mis-educated youths with little to no life experience are deigning to attempt to control the lives of others. What hubris has been inculcated on these ignorant quislings of the left.

    1. S. Meyer says, “ Some of our blog’s members still believe that intimidation and violence towards speakers they disapprove of is free speech.”

The right approves of conservative parents engaging in intimidation and violence at school board meetings because they disapprove of free speech. Obviously it goes both ways

      1. Every batch of apples has a few bad ones. On the left, it is the reverse, where good apples are hard to find.

The right, for the most part, has been quite civil. Those on the right that have done bad things have been criticized by their own people. The left of today is bad through and through.

        1. S. Meyer, unfortunately that’s not factually correct. It’s wishful thinking on your part. The right is just as bad as the left, but more hypocritical.

          1. It is a fact, but no one is surprised you don’t recognize that. We watched Democrat governors, Congressmen, and local leaders help Antifa and BLM destroy cities. You are ignorant.

            1. S. Meyer,

Sorry, but lying doesn’t help your poor attempt at laying blame. Just saying it’s a fact doesn’t make it so.

              1. ATS, It is not a lie that Antifa and BLM destroyed a lot of property in cities while Democrat leaders stood by and did nothing. Kamala was even involved in posting bail.

  12. It is sad that students no longer come to college to learn and broaden their horizon but enter higher education with preset opinions after years of indoctrination from kindergarten through high school. How they can become useful professionals or lawyers is a mystery. Gender dysphoria is a serious condition. With all the attention it gets, you might think that 20% of the population suffers from it. In reality it is about 0.03%. We should not make the problem bigger than it is. In essence it is a misconnect between the mental and the physical, whereby the mind does not accept the birth gender. Two things you could do: change the mind or change the body. The latter is invasive and irreversible, thus should be action of last resort. Psychiatric research suggests that 90-95% of people with transgender issues grow over it after puberty/adolescence. So, the true problem is limited to 5% of 0.03% of the population. Consequently, no hormone treatment of gender confirming surgery should take place before that point. If you do, and the mind when the person is an adult accepts its birth gender, the problem is reversed but cannot be undone. I would not call myself a conservative, neither is that relevant. Medical science is and scientific findings indicate that children should not undergo medical treatments but should only be offered psychiatric help. As hormone treatments and gender conforming surgery are irreversible, they likely cause more harm down the road.

  14. The line is drawn at children, period. No child, nay, no young adult – knows exactly how they’ll think or feel 20 years down the road, and this is irreversible. If it involves a child, it is different. Would the Professor be ok with a speaker espousing the norms of incest or pedophilia in general? This on that level. Adults over 18 should make their own decisions. Adults over 18 were not the subject of what was on offer. If an individual espoused child sexual abuse or trafficking and displayed photos of it they’d go straight to prison and likely die there. Why is this different? It isn’t. Except for in the hypotheticals of Progressive intellectual w*nkery.

It used to be those type evil people hide from public view, now it seems they are very open in the public view with their Pedo Sickness.

It’s past time to make it unsafe for Child Molesters again

Biologically male camp counselors who identify as female were allowed to sleep in cabins with fifth-grade girls during a school trip near San Bernardino, Calif., according to local media.

This has led to outrage among parents, several of whom said they would have made other arraignments if they had known about the camp’s policy of “placing staff in cabins they identify with” based on California law, according to KTLA.

“No parent should feel the way I feel after knowing what could have happened to my daughter,” said parent Suzy Johnson.

While counselors may have used the pronouns, they/them, the use of these pronouns is not restricted to biological males. Biological females also use those terms.'”

            1. There are many pedophiles in the world, given the global population of 7.9 billion. But the video you linked to doesn’t show pedophilia.

More to the point, your claim was about “all those judges, prosecutors, antifa types [have] become demonic Satan worshiping , American Hating, Globo Homo Pedophiles,” and THAT is a conspiracy theory.

              1. The word Types has a meaning.

btw: have you had a chance to read through the latest Pfizer study data dump & including the 30 pages of adverse effects, the at least 3% death rate of those taking their mRNA crap, etc., I haven’t. ( Lung Herpes, that’s a new one on me.)

I’ll be looking for among other things, it’s causing mass sterilization & permanent DNA changes.

                  1. Seems to me you’re the insane nut job covering up for the Pedos on a thread here about a Tex Gov attempting to stop insane maniac Lesbo Judge & the boy’s freak mom from chopping off 8-10 yr old boy’s balls off and stopping others from chemical castrate lil boys/girls.

Whatever kind of debate you thought you were doing here you & the Pedos Lost already!

How in the hell did you people get so F’d up?

btw: maybe you didn’t get the SD’s inter office memo, after Gary Webb was taken out by intel it’s said Mercury sold out very cheap, but before that was Webb, just another insider getting his bonus for years served.

  16. Turley didn’t think shouting down speakers was such a serious problem against free speech when conservative parents shut down school board meetings with the same kind of tactics often promoted by right wing groups like the oath keepers and similar groups.

    Here are two examples,

“ It was supposed to be an unremarkable Wednesday night school board meeting.

But it devolved into shouting when a group of parents began castigating pediatricians who had been invited to answer questions about masks.”

    https://vtdigger.org/2021/08/24/franklin-county-parents-shout-down-pediatrician-at-school-board-meeting-over-mask-policy/amp/

“ A few minutes after the school board meeting began on the football field in Oakhurst on Wednesday, a man standing below the bleachers started shouting over the speaker.”

“ Parents say that the contentious scene was the aftermath of what happened at Yosemite Unified School District’s originally scheduled board meeting on Monday. That meeting adjourned early after a group of parents, many against masks and vaccines, heckled the board so much it could no longer continue.”

    https://amp.fresnobee.com/news/local/education-lab/article254263048.html

There were so many meetings and speakers shouted down by parents and not a peep by Turley. It seems it’s only when conservatives are targeted that it merits attention.

By the way Turley neglected to mention that the father being shouted down at UNT is also a Republican candidate running for office wanting to criminalize transgender medical treatment.

    1. There’s a difference between being shouted down and shouted *at*. Ye Gods, you are a pedantic tool.

      1. That’s a conservative match stick up against a radical bonfire yet calling them both conflagrations. Typical of the Left – false comparisons.

        1. Mespo,

“ That’s a conservative match stick up against a radical bonfire yet calling them both conflagrations. Typical of the Left – false comparisons.”

Nope. They are the same thing. In fact it became a trend to be disruptive, loud, obnoxious, and shouting down board members and speakers alike. The proud boys encouraged such behavior which Turley strangely remained silent. They were engaging in the “hecklers veto” tactics with abandon forcing board members to shut down meetings and denying others a chance to speak. It was all over the news and Turley was more worried with Hunter Biden “scandals”.

          1. There are completely different. The speaker at UNT had his rights violated.

YUSD did not have its speech rights violated because, as the government, it has no speech rights.

            1. JD,

“ YUSD did not have its speech rights violated because, as the government, it has no speech rights.”.

Yes it does. The constitution doesn’t exempt government officials from having the same rights.

      2. James, a distinction without a difference. Both actions serve the purpose of being deliberately disruptive. Speakers at school board meetings have indeed been shouted down. They literally prevent the person from speaking by being loud enough and interrupting constantly. It’s no different than what Turley is complaining about. Yet he didn’t utter a peep about the practice as he is now.

      3. James says:

“There’s a difference between being shouted down and shouted *at*.”

Both are obnoxious whoever does it.

    2. You are lying. The parents didn’t shut down the school board meetings. The school boards did.

      1. Anonymous (S. Meyer),

“ You are lying. The parents didn’t shut down the school board meetings. The school boards did.”

The parents shouting down and deliberately disrupting the meetings ARE shutting them down with their behavior. It’s the parents who are forcing the board members to shut things down because the parents can’t seem to act like adults because they are doing exactly what Turley is complaining about. The only reason why he doesn’t pay much attention to it is because they are not conservatives being shouted down.

        1. “The parents shouting down and deliberately disrupting the meetings ARE shutting them down with their behavior.”

Not true. We are generally seeing school boards refusing to listen to parents and having police take parents out of the meeting. Alternatively, school boards threatened to close the meetings if the parents didn’t stay away from certain topics. On occasion, school boards have ended their meetings to prevent criticism.

We all remember the parent who started yelling because of an unresponsive school board. He was rightfully upset. His daughter was molested, and under the school board’s approval, the molester was moved to another school to do it again.

Svelaz, your type supports actions that lead to molestation and then complaints if parents get upset. You need your head examined.

          1. Anonymous (S. Meyer$,

“ Not true. We are generally seeing school boards refusing to listen to parents and having police take parents out of the meeting.”

The very reason why parents are being taken out by police is because they are deliberately disrupting the meetings. School boards can’t listen when you have these obnoxious conservative parents shouting down board members and speakers, and constantly interrupting the meetings.

“ Alternatively, school boards threatened to close the meetings if the parents didn’t stay away from certain topics. On occasion, school boards have ended their meetings to prevent criticism.”

            S. Meyer is now lying. Not surprising given how he has poor reading comprehension skills. School boards threatened to close meetings if parents became disruptive. School boards have cancelled meetings because threats against members and lack of civility from the parents who choose not to follow the rules. Just the kind of problem Turley is complaining about.

“ Svelaz, your type supports actions that lead to molestation and then complaints if parents get upset. You need your head examined.”

            S. Meyer, you engaging in libel? Shocking.

    3. Pretty sure your opinions are based on the equivalent of hearsay, because you are an ivory tower liberal, and strongly suspect that you do not have children of your own. You are welcome to your opinion, but those things disqualify you from a conversation in which you do not have actual skin in the game, Svelaz. If you are an actual person with nothing better to do than post on this blog all day long, every single day, and not a paid troll, hopefully a portion of that might penetrate the thick covering of your brain you call a skull.

      1. James,

“ Pretty sure your opinions are based on the equivalent of hearsay, because you are an ivory tower liberal, and strongly suspect that you do not have children of your own.”

Nope. My opinion is based on facts already presented by conservative media. I’m a registered Republican. You can suspect all you want, but in the end all you have is innuendo and ad hominems irrelevant to the discussion.

FYI I do have children and do have “skin in the game”.

“ Svelaz. If you are an actual person with nothing better to do than post on this blog all day long, every single day, and not a paid troll, hopefully a portion of that might penetrate the thick covering of your brain you call a skull.”

That sounds more like something you should be saying about S. Meyer. Our lovable chihuahua troll nipping at the ankles of those providing real content to a discussion.

    4. Svelaz says:

“There were so many meetings and speakers shouted down by parents and not a peep by Turley. It seems it’s only when conservatives are targeted that it merits attention.”

Seems so. Turley is not presenting an objective legal analyst but, rather, engaging us as a polemicist. By cherry-picking incidents, he is determined to advocate that Liberals are the ones chilling speech, not Trumpists.

I anticipate his law review article on the matter since that will be a scholarly dissertation subject to refutation by his academic peers. The arguments he makes here would not pass muster among those with a legal education.

      1. You are free to provide your own incidents. For that matter, you are free to provide evidence for any of the things you say. You don’t, and that makes you non-credible on the level of Anonymous the Stupid and Svelaz.

      2. Jeff Silberman,

“ By cherry-picking incidents, he is determined to advocate that Liberals are the ones chilling speech, not Trumpists.”

That’s obvious. When he cites incidents they often involve some out in the boonies or unheard of college or university. He makes it out to be a much bigger issue than it really is.

    5. There is no comparison. The government doesn’t have speech rights.

  17. Open debate exposes the left for what they are.
Not so camouflaged, low IQ puppets spouting talking points provided by others. Open exchange of ideas expose their ignorance and stupidity.
Stupidity, they are born with, and there is no correction. Ignorance is self imposed by refusing to debate the issues.

But there are glimmers of hope, here and there.

Yesterday Iowa Governor, Kim Reynolds, signed legislation, limiting participation in girls sports to persons that are female. So that’s done. But Judges like the soon to be minted, leftist Judge Jackson, will split the baby. demanding girls have the same athletic opportunities as boys, while at the same time, declaring legislation that limits sports created just for girls, unconstitutional, must allow boys in those sports created for girls. In Iowa Judges will have the power to really mess things up. Since Iowa is a huge wrestling state, and the state has sanctioned girls wrestling, it easy to see the boys not making the cut in the boys wrestling room, walk across the hall the to the girls wrestling room. Moving the weekend, backseat of the car wrestling matches, to the gym.

  18. Since the left is so determined to “save democracy” (see Stacy Abrams, Biden and Jim Crow 2.0 etc etc etc) I have a suggestion regarding this issue. I suggest that we have a vote with the ballot questions being:

    a) Should one parent be allowed to indoctrinate and/or use medical procedures to “assist” a SEVEN YEAR OLD into transitioning away from their birth gender?

    b) Should the non-agreeing parent have any rights to cease having their child being “transitioned” from their birth gender?

    c) Should the state be allowed to consider the transition of minors child abuse?

Okay lefties, what percentage of people do you think agree with what has been happening with regard to the issue at hand? How many people think that the court in Texas should enjoin a father from stopping his ex-wife from transitioning their child? I’m guessing that about 90% of people disagree with the far left on this issue and yet…democracy.

Getting back to the point at hand, this is why the little fascists need to shut off debate, they can never win on the issue itself. We even have the moronic Texas legislator, Gene Wu, one of the geniuses that “fled” to DC to protest the TX voting Bill (you remember him, he was on the PRIVATE JET and NOT WEARING A MASK and of course they quietly slinked home after losing their argument) stating that screaming down the poor father im this case is fine and that the conservatives that are mad at the lack of free speech are “Karens”?????

This is the left, use the heckler’s veto against discourse is free speech if you are using it to keep a far left issue safe from debate.

  19. “ and a court recently stopped an investigation into such transitioning by the state), colleges were once places were such ideas could be debated and discussed.”

My question is simple. Since Colleges are no longer safe places to be for anyone, that simply holds a different point of view, my question is this. How, did it get this way? And, when did it get started? Lastly, I’ve often wondered what College was it that all this “physically dangerous movement” against “Conservative Kids”, get it’s start at? Now with all this being said, there is a way to deal with all this.

It’s very very simple. But, To do it, it will take an ultra swift movement, Out of “Conservative Parents.” That is, to move on any, any College instantly, physically, and legally against the “College Hierarchy”, from the College “President, Dean” etc and on down in a legal manner. Sue them. Tie them up legally. And physically, show up in force. The men. Not women.

They have no place in a setting that violence can break out in a heart-beat. The reason these pieces of scum like ANTIFA / BLM have gotten away with all they have, is because they have not, not had to pay a real serious deadly, and significant physical price. For example. A few years back west coast young pieces of pure sh-t wearing the familiar hat of “concerned environmentalist,”. Came out to North Dakota, Stanley ND.

This is where it starts. Protest was held off & on at different places but here, is the place we’re some protest started and they ended very swiftly because many of the young pieces of scum was caught in town and put in the ICU UNITS of Bismarck Hospitals, to begin with. But just like down here in Wyoming, even our biggest towns our hospitals are not built or designed to hold lots of patients.

So they quickly overflowed, ane several of the pieces of scum had to be taken all the way across the state to Fargo and some in different hospitals across the state, dropped off at, Minot, Grand Forks. Because they ran off at the mouth, to the wrong guys. Pipeliners. Welders, equipment-operators etc. and they beat them, almost to death.

Faces disfigured, etc. no, not one got arrested. And I say, rightfully so. This is how you take care of pieces of scum and this is exactly what needs to be done to members of ANTIFA / BLM. Beat them almost, to death. Even if it means they’re in a wheelchair for the rest of their lives, make them pay a severe, extremely severe, Price.

And all of this you have been seeing, will come to an end so fast. But, I don’t see conservatives ever doing anything about this. Because like so many other things, my fellow Conservatives talk a good game. But when the rubber meets the road the vast majority don’t do diddly squat.

    1. GarlandRemingtonIII,

“ My question is simple. Since Colleges are no longer safe places to be for anyone, that simply holds a different point of view, my question is this. How, did it get this way? And, when did it get started?”

This “hecklers veto” started ironically with southern whites preventing blacks from exercising their first amendment rights. The link explains it very well.

      https://www.thefire.org/dear-university-of-north-texas-the-hecklers-veto-is-not-a-good-thing/

    2. You ask when it started. The first I really remember was in 2014 when Ayaan Ali Hirsi was cancelled from speaking at Brandeis. I felt she had a lot of experience that those women could learn from. But as I looked up the date of her cancellation, I found that Wellesley College cancelled Barbara Bush in 1990 because they felt she was not feminist enough–after all she dropped out of college in 1944 to get married. I am sure there are many others, but it is progressively growing.
