China Censors WHO Head After Tedros Advocated Censorship to Combat the “Infodemic”

French journalist Jacques Mallet du Pan famously observed during the French Revolution that “like Saturn, the Revolution devours its children.” It appears that the same can be said for censorship. We previously discussed how WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has supported censorship to combat what he calls the “infodemic.” Now Tedros has been reportedly censored by China for disinformation on its own pandemic measures.

Tedros stated “When we talk about the zero COVID strategy, we don’t think that is sustainable, considering the behavior of the virus now and what we anticipate in the future.” That drew the ire of China’s censors who removed the comments.

Previously, Tedros weighed into the conflict between musician Neil Young and podcaster Joe Rogan and streaming giant Spotify. Tedros supported Young’s demand that Rogan be censored by the company for his views on the virus and treatments. It was a particularly glaring position for Tedros after he and WHO have been repeatedly accused of supporting China in early efforts to scuttle investigations into the lab theory on the origin of this virus.

That did not stop Tedros from backing Young and thanked him for “standing up against misinformation and inaccuracies” around Covid vaccinations before stressing “we all have a role to play to end this pandemic and infodemic.”

He added “@NeilYoungNYA, thanks for standing up against misinformation and inaccuracies around #COVID19 vaccination… Public and private sector, in particular #socialmedia platforms, media, individuals — we all have a role to play to end this pandemic and infodemic.”

The “role” being described by Tedros is corporate censorship. Yet, some in academia are supporting the calls for censorship. For example, an article published in The Atlantic by Harvard law professor Jack Goldsmith and University of Arizona law professor Andrew Keane Woods called for Chinese-style censorship of the internet, stating that “in the great debate of the past two decades about freedom versus control of the network, China was largely right and the United States was largely wrong.”

Now, Tedros has been swept up with the other suspects in his “infodemic.” That is the danger of all censorship systems: one can easily move from being the advocate to being the object of censors.

  1. Man up. Joseph Robinette Biden. Man up. Kamala Harris. Chuck Schumer. Nancy Pelosi. Sandi Cortez. Pete Buttigieg. The entire Democrat party. Man up.

For years, you lusted for power. Now you have it. You caught the bus.

Your heads have spent years up your collective behinds. Building an ideology based on division and envy. Modern monetary theory. Men are women. Racist bridges. Party-sponsored race riots. Forced vaccinations. The Chinese share our goals. Endless slush funds for the politically connected. Women are men. What do you have to show for it? Power.

Man up. Take ownership of your mess. The debacle in Afghanistan. Once in a generation inflation. Soaring energy prices. Cities overtaken by an epidemic of crime. Illegals storming the border. Joseph, Kamala, Nancy, Sandi, and the rest of your progressive Democrat friends – it has worked out great for you. Not so much for American mothers who can’t find baby food for their children.

Seizing power through division, anger and resentment was the easy part. The hard part is to use that power for the benefit of the American people. To build up instead of tearing down. Demonstrate to the American people that you have a plan to drive the bus. Own your mess. And fix it.

    Man up.

    1. They’re incapable of “manning up,” they are all toxic wraiths of poison politics, “soulless creatures (who) only feel devastating emotions like hatred and despair…”

    2. “Not so much for American mothers who can’t find baby food for their children.”

      Oh, come now.

All they have to do is go down to Mexico, babies in tow. Cross the border, with babies in tow. Find a border agent. Point to babies. Then, poof — free baby formula!

When the supply runs out, rinse and repeat.

      What could be easier?

    3. Obama/Biden’s Arab, Syrian, Egyptian, Iraqui, Persian, Libyan, Slavic… American Spring.

  4. Don’t you just love these dims. There is a shortage of baby formula for Americans to buy, but we are going to supply it to illegal aliens. On top of that we’re going to give Ukraine $40 billion in aid. We have e shortage of formulae for our own baby’s. And Trump was wrong to put America first.

    1. The American fertility rate is in a “death spiral,” more Americans die than are born. America is a global communist’s dream – ripe for the taking. Labor and delivery are just too much for privileged American women. Who needs babies, right? Abortion good; babies bad. American women can be truck drivers and CEOs; American women can be men! But who’s going to make babies, if not American females and women? Communist America doesn’t need babies; Communist America has illegal aliens – by the truck load. American women are committing treason by terminally reducing the number of babies. The population of America is being imported. America will not be a nation soon; America is fading away.

    2. American mothers shouldn’t be at Alito’s house. They should be at Biden’s home. First Biden wants to kill children up to and including the day they are born. Now Biden is trying to starve American children to death. When they get older Biden is helping to kill them with Fentanyl that he lets get across the southern border.

The left is the culture of death.

  5. WHEN GOOD MEN DO NOTHING

China should have been sued in the International Criminal Court et al. for $50+ trillion in damages for crimes against humanity, criminal negligence, criminal dereliction, gross manslaughter, genocide et al., penalties and damages held in abeyance if necessary.

China was protected by sycophantic global communist “…States [that] do not or are unwilling or unable to do so….” *

This issue must have been resolved years ago.

Doing nothing is pernicious, treasonable and “…the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil….”

    - The International Criminal Court (ICC) investigates and, where warranted, tries individuals charged with the gravest crimes of concern to the international community: genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and the crime of aggression.

    – The ICC is intended to complement, not to replace, national criminal systems; it prosecutes cases only when [*] States do not or are unwilling or unable to do so genuinely.

  6. Here is a big OFF TOPIC

The Jan 6 committee just subpoenaed 5 Republican Congressmen. If the refuse and the House refers them to Garland….what happens?

Next question. What happens when Republicans control the House and start doing the same. A question Garland would have to spend a loooong time thinking about.
Since Pelosi was in charge of security during Jan 6, she would be the first witness.

    1. Not to worry, the communist ad campaign for the 2022 election ends on November 8.

Congress must then order the release of all Jan. 6 political prisoners and generous compensation for all the harassed and imprisoned innocent victims.

Whatever will happen to Liz “My Dad’s Dick Cheney So Make Me Queenie” Cheney, and Adam “Tracks of My Tears” Kinzinger?

    2. Iowan says:

“Next question. What happens when Republicans control the House and start doing the same. A question Garland would have to spend a loooong time thinking about.
Since Pelosi was in charge of security during Jan 6, she would be the first witness.”

Fine by me. But I reserve the right to call ANY Republican investigation of the Democrats a “WITCH-HUNT!”

      What will you say?

      Nothing.

You will be victimized by your own past lying rhetoric. Trumpists will be hoisted by their own petard….

      1. That “witch hunt” would be truly hunting actual witches.

Nancy Pelosi “…is credited with having usually malignant supernatural powers…” and those characteristics described on dictionary.com.
        __________________________________________________________________________________________________________

        Dictionary.com

        witch

2 a woman who is supposed to have evil or wicked magical powers: witches in black robes and pointed hats.

3 an ugly or mean old woman; hag: the old witch who used to own this building.
        _______________________________________________________________

        \ ˈwich

        plural witches
        Definition of witch

1 in fiction and folk traditions a : a person (especially a woman) who is credited with having usually malignant supernatural powers

        1. Joke all you want, George. However, Trumpists will NOT have any moral standing to gripe about their investigations being dismissed out-of-hand as “witch-hunts” since they played the “witch-hunt” card repeatedly.

Trumpists will learn the hard way that what goes around, comes around. The liars will get a taste of their own lies.

          1. Why will “trumpists”
            not have moral standing ?

There is an awful lot of actually immoral unethical and sometimes illegal conduct by those on the left to investigate.

It is not immoral to investigate immorality.

It is immoral to leverage government power to conduct faux investigations of actual lies.

            1. The mystery of the Cross commands you!

The faith of the saints and the martyrs commands you!

The blood of Christ commands you!

      2. “You will be victimized by your own past lying rhetoric. Trumpists will be hoisted by their own petard….”

We have been hearing that for a long time.

So far the actual criminal conspiracies involve democrats not Trump

  7. OT, but this needs to be shared in order to understand how bad the poster, “David Benson” is:

    He posted yesterday:

Independent Bob — Gas prices not high:
    https://inflationdata.com/articles/inflation-adjusted-prices/inflation-adjusted-gasoline-prices/

The article he posted is from March 12. The chart was using average prices for this year of $3.36, but the current price of gas is $4.40. That puts us at all-time highs on an inflation adjusted basis. Yet he goes after others claiming they didn’t read the article. This is typical gaslighting from the corrupt left. This wasn’t a mistake, he does it regularly on purpose.

    1. On the gas price, I think comparing it to historical inflation adjusted level is stupid and serves no purpose.
Compare it to 16 month ago. That’s what is important. Oil is a commodity. It is pure supply demand equation. what ever inflation affects the price, is a small fraction of the price equation.

    2. What’s the gas price/wage ratio now?

Looks like they made a wage equivalent of 3 gallons per hour in 1950.

A $6-per-gallon gas price would equate to an $18 hourly wage today.

      Minimum hourly wage

      Oct 24, 1945 $0.40
      Jan 25, 1950 $0.75
      Mar 1, 1956 $1.00
      Sep 3, 1961 $1.15

      1950 0.27
      1960 0.31
      1970 0.35

      1. Everyone can see you’re just a bad egg. Please keep telling everyone that gas prices aren’t high while calling others ignorant. It’s hilarious.

  8. The Chinese suggested a minimum 3 m social distancing to minimize airborne spread indoors, and to avoid fecal spread in improperly constructed spaces.

Tedros approved general distribution, transnational distribution of non-sterilizing medical treatments that forced excess injury and all-causes mortality, especially in low risk cohorts, notably teenage boys and girls.

  9. Leaving the politics aside, China’s Zero-COVID policy is unsustainable. In Shanghai 26 million people have been locked down for over a month. People have run out of food. Life saving treatments are unavailable, quarantine shelters are overflowing. This is a scene repeated across the country. Parts of Beijing have gone into lockdown. As we have seen from similar strategies the unintended consequences result in increased mental health problems for young and old alike, suicide rates increase, death from underlying conditions rise. Children suffer from a lack of socialization.

Further the Zero-COVID strategy has vast economic costs domestically. Small businesses fail and there is no government bailout. Domestic supply chains are collapsing resulting in shortages of food and other critical items. Unemployment in the PRC has become a major problem due to manufacturing, offices and the service sectors being shut down. This policy is killing people.

There are follow-on problems for the international supply chain. Made in China products are not being manufactured. Products are not being shipped even if product is available due to post closures and resulting imbalances in maritime shipping. When there is more demand than product inflation is the result. Xi’s strategy is impacting all of us.

For Tedros who supported censorship of views that did not align with WHO’s and repeatedly expressed support for the China model, censorship by the CCP is simply karma.

  10. “Now, Tedros has been swept up with the other suspects in his “infodemic.” That is the danger of all censorship systems: one can easily move from being the advocate to being the object of censors.”
    ***************************
While there’s plenty of schadenfreude and delicious irony in hearing about Comrade Tedros’ censoring and banishment at the hands of his Chinese masters, it’s still worth remembering those poignant words of John Donne:

    No man is an island,
    Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
    A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
    Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thine own
    Or of thine friend’s were.
    Each man’s death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
    Therefore, send not to know
    For whom the bell tolls,
    It tolls for thee.

  11. The new Head of NIH, replacing Fauci, admitted to Congress yesterday, that they did hide the known DNA link of covid 19 to the Wauhan lab.
Remember, that the link to the lab was “debunked” According to Fauci. Then the leader of NIH.

There will be no prison time, because, shut up you uneducated religious hick. Thus guaranteeing more lies and disinformation from science. As bad as this is, understand 100’s of people knew the truth, and never spoke out. Such is the power of the Administrative State.

    1. I actually refuse to see a doctor that is not at least my age or greater at this point. If they put a millennial or a PA with five minutes of experience and even less in education in front of me, I say, ‘Thanks anyway.’, and walk out. What use is my insurance paying for medieval care? True story: my wife recently had to have stitches for a fairly egregious cut on her hand; the person that did her stitches botched the job so badly the stitches came out in a couple of days and she is lucky she doesn’t have permanent nerve damage. We would have sued if we were more litigious people, and we will never go to that urgent care again. Business and profit have absolutely overtaken care. This is happening with alarming regularity at this point. Thankfully I am healthy and don’t really need them, but I truly empathize with the people that do. We used to lead the world in healthcare. There appears to be no stone that will remain unturned in modern times, and it is entirely on the backs of billionaires that people the likes of Elizabeth Warren (herself wealthy from birth) purposefully ignore. If you don’t think this is modern aristocracy, you must be very, very comfortable in your life. Hope you are enjoying that trust fund.

  12. It’s pretty clear that many of us were correct, and our globalist health organizations were flat-out lying to us nearly the entire time. I doubt this will invoke anything ethical from the WHO or NHS. That medical licensing boards are now creating boards for disinformation tells me that the woke fascists have invaded everything, and are rapidly bringing it all to ruin. People that still vote dem think they are voting for candidates, but no, you are voting for the people they work for (not the citizens) and in turn the woke fools working for them.

  13. Right up there with the Trump – Russia collusion that never happened, or the Hunter Biden Laptop that was just Russian disinformation (or so said 50 security people who never looked), or if you like your physician you can keep them or the insurance you like, you can keep it. Or the “shovel ready” stimulus packages that moved no shovels, but paid a lot of salaries in favorable demographics or unions (when dems controlled the unions), Or the Affordable Care Act that would save you about $2400 in premiums a year even as Harvard School of Public was saying it would never save money but might reduce the rate of increase. Of course Harvard Public Health was saying that quietly to meeting attendees and not the news. If you’re going to go off the subject, let’s really go off the rails.

    1. All of us Turley readers could benefit from more of your commentaries – thank you for this one.

  14. “5G towers,’ other conspiracies flourish at hearing on vaccine bill”

    https://ohiocapitaljournal.com/2021/06/09/5g-towers-other-conspiracies-flourish-at-hearing-on-vaccine-bill/

“A doctor warned that vaccinated people might be magnetized and pose a health risk to unvaccinated people around them.”

“A pastor said vaccines contain ingredients like formaldehyde and fetal cells.”

“A nurse sought to prove the truth of “magnetic vaccine crystals.”
    ————————

Turley says that such disinformation should be spread freely. Why then does his Fox News not broadcast these theories?

    Why does Fox censor them?

    1. Jeff

      God you are tedius.

I read your comment because it was the only one.

Try commenting on the post instead of attacking Turley.

      Please, just once.

      1. I praised Turley for condemning the protesters outside of the Justices’ houses. I agree that protesting judges is immoral though legal.

I also agreed that the leak of the opinion was an abomination. I said that I would refuse to read the draft so as not to encourage such leaks in the future but rather wait for the published opinion.

If only you would read ALL my comments, you would realize that I am not the SOB you think I am. I generally don’t take issue with Turley’s opinions. I only criticize his hypocrisies. Just like he does others.

        1. Jeff, I can’t wait for the day that JT quits Fox. I realize that he can’t bite the hand that feeds him. Not going to go down the who is more hypocritical or pathologically biased road again. We debated that to death.
On Tedros, he was a Chinese stooge for so long, this is extremely ironic. No, I don’t have any conclusive proof, just common sense and intuition. Covid came from the lab in Wuhan. And along with Tedros, Fauci and Collins are guilty of perpetuating a lie that has deceived the world. They both help fund and then lie about gain of function at the lab.

          1. “Jeff, I can’t wait for the day that JT quits Fox. “

Fox has a large audience. Why would you want Turley to quit. He provides good opinions. Fox should have more like him.

I thought you were interested in getting good information and opinion to the people.

            1. Anon, I do respect Turley, otherwise I would not be here, I do believe that he is somewhat compromised by his employment. Fox has made mistakes and he has never acknowledged them. But will routinely criticized competing networks,. If he just stuck to legal analysis that would be fine. That should be his sole role. Fox has Kurtz to comment on media. He also is on Twitter and I believe contributes to Politico. He could use those outlets for media commentary. As with judges, he must avoid even the semblance of impropriety.

          2. Paul,

I don’t keep up with the latest news on the Wuhan lab leak theory. If you want to refer me to an article authored by the MSM accusing Fauci, et.al., of lying, please do. I’m not interested in anything from far Right websites however.

Yes, I’ll likely abandon this blog once Turley is either “let go” from Fox or Turley leaves the network for the same reason that Chris Wallace, Shep Smith, Jonah Goldberg, and Stephen Hayes all left- out of conscience.

The fact that Turley NEVER dared mentioned these principled departures demonstrates that he is too embarrassed to defend his decision not to follow them out the door.

BTW, you did not respond to my request that you hold the money for a wager I have made with someone anonymous here. Are you game to receive money via PayPal from the both of us? I’ll send you my wager. I doubt the other guy will (in which case I trust you to return my bet to me).

            1. Jeff, I must have missed your request. I will do anything I can to promote gambling. As you have previously stated. I am a degenerate. So, the answer is yes.
And are you saying that your sole role here is to point out “Turley’s hypocrisy”? I sure hope not. You are a lawyer and this is a legal blog. You have much to offer. And I am going to be a little selfish here. I have had many interactions with you. And so far even though we are obviously from opposite sides of the aisle, we have always had respectful conversation. And heaven forbid, we have both admitted that the other guy could be right. So, you leaving would have a negative aspect on me.
I have also had some respectful conversations with one of the Anonymous’s. I tried with Dennis. I will never make that mistake again. And a few here on ” your side” are unhinged. Especially one whose name starts with a ” N”. Arguing with that person would be as futile as showing a map to a blind man and expecting that person to navigate across country.
I will get back to you on the lab leak. But for now how about we just use common sense?
Weather has been in the 80’s. Good time to visit your college friend.

              1. Paul,

The wager was whether Turley was going to mention D’Souza’s propaganda film “2000 Mules” which the Trumpists here believe proves election fraud. I was willing to bet that Turley would not mention it. But since it has been several days now, it’s a sucker bet for the Anonymous person claiming he was willing to take my wager. In the future, I need not ask you to hold my bet if you are prepared to reveal your PayPal account name here. I’d gladly deposit my bet with you if I could find someone willing to do the same as I am willing to put my money where my mouth is.

Yes, Natacha is too strident for me. I have on occasion written to her that she was exaggerating or unfairly attacking Turley. I am not as livid as she is. I generally agree with Turley; I just fault his legitimating Fox News by his appearing on its programs just as you would condemn him were he to appear as a legal analyst for Infowars.

I think Dennis too goes a bit too far. I don’t believe, as Dennis seems to, that Turley is acting in bad faith or lying. Lord knows that I have stated ad nauseam that Turley is a hypocrite for deploring the “age of rage” while ignoring the rage at his employer Fox. However, I don’t regard a hypocrite as a liar. If Turley were asked, “Is it not hypocritical to denounce the rage at MSNBC and CNN while NEVER at Fox?” He might answer, “No. I work for Fox. I don’t pretend to be impartial and objective.” That would be an honest answer.

Turley would hardly be the only person willing to sell out for a buck. I don’t consider that immoral per se. Criminal defense lawyers, for instance, earn their living by advocating for the known guilty. They are not paid to do what is morally right; on the other hand; they are ethically prohibited from perpetuating a fraud *in court*. So too, Turley. He serves the media interests of Fox without lying in public. His criticism of the MSM is legitimate. He would not ignore the same at Fox, Newsmax and OAN were he not paid a lot to do so. He’s never lied by stating that there are no rage provocateurs at Fox, et.al. Rather, he remains mum. I wonder though what he will eventually say when he is so confronted. I suspect he tries to avoid public appearances where he might be held accountable because it would prove to be embarrassing.

    2. Jeff – My goal is to read/listen to a diverse set of news. What’ I’ve learned is that Fox News broadcasts the truthful and most likely news, while avoiding lies, propaganda, and conspiracy theories like collusion/Steele, peaceful protests, Blasey Ford lies, Fox was first and right to report on so much news that the rest of the networks (CNN, CBS, NPR) lied about including: Laptop, lab leak, Biden’s gas prices, Biden’s inflation, 5000 illegals per day (3MM since Lyin Biden took office), Biden world crises, Covid hysteria. The irreputable MSM has truly tarnished itself and yet too many people are ignorant of the MSM’s lies and voted for an incompetent Joe Biden and his shadow government.

      1. Highlyeducatedsuburbanwoman,

I too am a highlyeducatedsuburbanman. Isn’t it fascinating that 2 highly educated people have polar opposite views on Fox News?

Turley is a highly educated man too. Why doesn’t he accuse the MSM of the things you do, for instance:

conspiracy theories like collusion/Steele, Blasey Ford lies, lab leak, Covid hysteria, or incompetent Joe Biden and his shadow government.

Moreover, Turley has never stated that he believed the Mueller was a witch-hunt, the election was stolen or there exists a “Deep State.”

These are notions Trumpists like yourself cling too. I trust Turley not Fox.

    3. “Dr. Sherri Tenpenny, a board-certified physician from the Cleveland area, repeatedly raised unfounded claims of deaths, strokes and other “horrendous side effects” from the vaccine. The Center for Countering Digital Hate identified Tenpenny as one of a dozen of the most prolific anti-vaccination disinformers “who play leading roles in spreading digital misinformation about Covid vaccines.”

We heard yesterday, the NIH had DNA evidence linking Covid 19 to the Wauhan lab. While simultaneously claiming nothing supported the lab origin theory.

forgive me for ignoring some claiming the Dr, findings are wrong. The medical community has a steep climb in rebuilding a reputation they willing sacrificed during covid.

      1. I did not read that Dr’s report, but I do question whether the vaccine did cause medical problems in some people. There is no doubt, there are always side effects, and different people can have different side effects or not have any side effects at all. Just look at the disclaimers that come with your prescriptions or on the pharmaceutical advertisements on TV. I have a dozen unanswered questions each time someone has a diagnosis of Covid. Like now, why it is ramping up again? Why are some young people, double-boosted, are getting it worse than older people? Why are the anti-virals only offered to older people? To me masks are useless–they are woven material, which can allow fine droplets through the “open” spaces. Why are the tests coming from China and Korea? How do they determine the difference between Covid virus droplets and the average cold virus droplets? Was the Wuhan lab ever shut down? If not, why not? What is wrong with our country that we cannot take care of our people and once that is done, then go and help other places with our resources. If we don’t expand our resources, we won’t be able to help anyone.

        1. All very good questions. You will find answers to many of your questions in the following excellent scientific article. I posted this info a few weeks ago. Ioannidis is the most published and most quoted epidemiologist in the world. The Left hate him

        2. “To me masks are useless–they are woven material”

That might be true, but has any mask contracted Covid?

      2. Iowan2 says:

“We heard yesterday, the NIH had DNA evidence linking Covid 19 to the Wauhan lab.”
