President Biden Repeats False Claim about the Second Amendment

President Joe Biden on Wednesday repeated a claim about the Second Amendment that some of us have repeatedly challenged as untrue.  In asserting that “the Second Amendment is not absolute,” President Biden repeated his claim that certain weapons were prohibited at the time that the Second Amendment was ratified. That is simply untrue.

The statement that the Second Amendment is not absolute is certainly true. There are laws that can be crafted within the confines set out under controlling Supreme Court precedent. However, as discussed in a column, President Biden continues to ignore those constitutional limitations in blaming the gun lobby and political opponents for these deaths.

President Biden also has repeated his claim that certain weapons were banned at the time of the ratification of the Second Amendment.

Previously, Biden declared:

“And I might add: The Second Amendment, from the day it was passed, limited the type of people who could own a gun and what type of weapon you could own. You couldn’t buy a cannon.”

This week, President Biden repeated a false claim that many of us have corrected in the past.

When he was announcing new rules for so-called “ghost guns” and other measures, President Biden renewed his false claim that early Americans could not buy a cannon.

“By the way — it’s going to sound bizarre — I support the Second Amendment. But from the very beginning the Second Amendment didn’t say you could own any gun you want, as big as you want. You couldn’t buy a cannon, when in fact the Second Amendment passed.”

It does sound bizarre because it is factually and legally untrue. I have received calls from media for years about this claim and it does not improve by repetition. Even the Washington Post has declared Biden’s understanding of the Second Amendment to be false.

Yet, this week, President Biden remained undeterred and uninformed: “The Second Amendment is not absolute. When it was passed you couldn’t own a cannon, you couldn’t own certain kinds of weapons. There’s just always been limitations.”

Once again, there were no federal laws barring cannon ownership when the Second Amendment was enacted. Gun laws remained local matters and I do not know of any bans on cannons or other gun types until much later in our history.  Early local laws did control concealed weapons, though concealed cannons were not part of those ordinances.

Indeed, the Constitution itself supports private cannon ownership in the case of privateers.  Article 1, Section 8, Clause 11 allows Congress to “grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal.”  That allowed private parties to privateer on the high seas with . . . cannons. (Recently some members of Congress wanted to issues such letters of Marque again to enlist privateers in the fight against Russia).

As with the failure to acknowledge the limitations on the range of legislative options due to Second Amendment protections, President Biden is undermining efforts to reach common ground with this repeated false claim. If we are going to reach what the President calls “commonsense” responses to this massacre, we must start from a common understanding of the constitutional and historical foundations for such reforms.

  1. To those that question the possession of an AR15 or any gun, I’ll quote in part from two cases by the Supreme Court.

The reversal of the lower Courts option in ‘United States v. Miller et. al’.

Adam Smith’s Wealth of Nations, Book V, Ch. 1, “Men of republican principles have been jealous of a standing army as dangerous to liberty.” “In a militia, the character of the labourer, artificer, or tradesman, predominates over that of the soldier: in a standing army, that of the soldier predominates over every other character; and in this distinction seems to consist the essential difference between those two different species of military force”.

And from: ‘Printz v. United States’, opinion of the Court written by Justice Scalia.

“Much of the Constitution is concerned with setting forth the form of our government, and the courts have traditionally invalidated measures deviating from that form. The result may appear ‘formalistic’ in a given case to partisans of the measure at issue, because such measures are typically the product to the ear’s perceived necessity. But the Constitution protects us from our own best intentions: It divides power among sovereigns and among branches of government precisely so that we may resist the temptation to concentrate power in one location as an expedient solution to the crisis of the day”.

      1. “well-regulated”….(the opposite of hedonistic individualism). In modern terms, I’d say “loosely supervised by an older, responsible adult in the young gun owner’s sphere”.

        1. Well organized militia = the purpose

“the right of the people.” = every individual

see number 1, 3, 4 and 7 of the first 10 (Bill of Rights) all contain individual rights.

    1. Very good George. Shreds the silliness of Burger. And that bit of sophistry above was not was not part of a SCOTUS decision. Just bar talk

    2. George,

I think to many don’t know they Are the “Sovereigns” of the USA & they are ok with a Daddy Big Govt telling them which way to walk & talk.

Fm Prez Eisenhower trying to get the masses attention about their personal responsibility guarding their freedom once pointed out they could all be very safe if Big Daddy Govt put them all in Leavenworth Fed Prison with No Freedom! And many seem today seem ok with life in prison as opposed to being a responsible.

  2. More of Turley’s bull. The Second Amendment speaks to a “WELL REGULATED MILITIA”, not some loser out to prove his manhood by blowing away innocent children. BTW: do you Trumpsters wonder they asked for DNA from parents? Think about it. What do you suppose this means? The carnage was something out of a nightmare. Note the words “WELL REGULATED”. So, even if logically you could expand the Second Amendment to include some right by non-militia people to tote around a heater, the framers felt that it HAD to be “WELL REGULATED”. So much for the open carry, opposition to permits, background checks, and other reasonable regulations.

But, that wasn’t the point of Turley’s little piece of excrement today, now was it? Just another attack on Joe Biden. Just another diversion away from Greg Abbott’s solution: arm teachers with guns. Except that, in this case, the shooter got past armed school resource people and some Border Security officers before he made his way into the school. But, some teacher with a handgun is supposed to prevent this from happening? Then, there’s the NRA intending to proceed with its convention in Texas, 300 miles away from the scene of the carnage, and the fat one you worship planning to attend. Plus, Trump lost his appeal and must sit for a deposition. But, Turley disagrees with something Biden said about the Second Amendment, claiming that “some of us” challenge as untrue. Well, Turley, that doesn’t MAKE it untrue, does it?.

    1. English isn’t your strongest suit, is it?

      Grammar 101:

“A well balanced breakfast being necessary to the start of a healthy day, the right of the people to keep and eat food shall not be infringed.”

Who has the right to keep and eat food, the people or the breakfast?

      1. Former Justice Warren Burger, the Chief Justice of the SCOTUS during Nixon’s admin, noted in an interview after he retired stated that SCOTUS did get the 2nd amendment wrong. He added, the 2nd amendment is does apply to a “well regulated militia.”

As far as English, the 2nd amendment does not have either a semi-colon or a period, except at the end of the text. Ergo, as the opening phrase does state “….a regulated militia,” then the remaining text applies solely to “a well regulated militia.”

        1. “A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined…” – George Washington, First Annual Address, to both House of Congress, January 8, 1790

“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.” – Thomas Jefferson, Virginia Constitution, Draft 1, 1776

“I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery.” – Thomas Jefferson, letter to James Madison, January 30, 1787

        2. And Well regulated, meant in good working order. Like a watch is well regulated. The militia is all persons between the ages of 18 and 45. That is by federal statute. One of of three Militia Acts

Every 10 years or so the same unfounded arguments surface again, and are promptly put down. It shows how little people know of civics. Schools are intentionally turning out kids that are mostly clueless about our history and Government Structure.

  3. The following is a partial list of when an AR-15-style weapon was used in a mass shooting:

Feb. 14, 2018: Shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Florida leaves 17 people dead.

Oct. 1, 2017: The Las Vegas slaughter of 58 people.

Nov. 5, 2017: The Sutherland Springs, Texas, church shooting that claimed 26 lives.

June 12, 2016: The Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, Fla., that left 49 dead.

Dec. 2, 2015: The San Bernardino, Calif., shooting that killed 14 people.

Dec. 14, 2012: The shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut that took 27 lives.

    …………………………………

The theme of Turley’s column is that NOTHING can be done to stop deranged losers from obtaining high power weapons. Because any attempt to ban guns like the AR 15 would muddy the Constitution. Besides, mass shootings are really a ‘mental health issue’ that Republicans hope to address with a huge expansion of mental health services. Though don’t expect such an expansion (by Republicans) at any point in this century.

    1. The shooter passed a background check, bought legally at FFL dealer. Has any reporter asked how an umemployed high school dropout could find the money (probably in the thousands) to legally purchase his guns?

    2. If they ban “assault rifles” and implement a national gun registry, guess who will have still have access to guns?

    3. ‘stop deranged losers from obtaining high power weapons.”

If ‘power’ is the culprit. AR 15 is not the target you are trying to attain. That would be a larger caliper, with greater muzzle speed.

That’s the problem with the uninformed making stupid suggestions that do zero to address the subject.

  4. There are many opinions as there are people. What has changed in the past fifty to sixty years? I can think of a few. I am sure there are many more.

I grew up in a rural community and attended high school in the mid 1970s. and a good number of farm kids drove to high school in their pickups and displayed their guns in the window rack. We had no shootings and very few hunting accidents.

We didn’t lock our front door and often left the car window open while shopping.

I know we didn’t have video games. They were not around back then. The first ones in the late 1970s were Pong, Asteroids and Space Invaders. I guess Pac-Man was violent. Three quarters of kids now play or have played violent games. Lots of shooting.

We didn’t have the internet and if we watched a PG-13 movie, especially on a military base, an adult had to accompany the child. My cousin and I had to have his dad sit behind us to watch a Bruce Lee film.

We attended church and catechism every week.

We had a healthy respect for police.

We got into deep trouble at home if we got in trouble at school.

We ate at the dinner at the table as a family.

    We only had one TV.

    We had one phone.

These are just a few things I can think of off the top of my head. My point is this, who is addressing what is going into the minds and hearts of youth? How does one reach this point to commit such an evil thing? Has anyone seen a Hollywood action movie where they don’t shoot at least ten people? John Wick?

We weren’t perfect by any means. Not even close. Bad things happened back then.

There is something much deeper than just a few new laws can mend. Everything should be on the table for an honest debate. The operative word is honest.

    3. E M, did you grow up on Walton’s Mountain? Was John Boy in your class?

Your account of the mid 70’s sounds a lot like “The Waltons”, which your family no doubt watched on their ‘one’ TV.

Some people confuse their childhoods with favorite TV shows.

      1. In general the present is better than the past.
But unarguably the present is not better in everyday.

We need not all live like the Waltons, and there was much evil int he past too.

But we are seeing the destruction of important moral values.

We have also destroyed religion – and that poses a problems – humans are inherently religious beings.

Without a christ, or Alaha they will create something else – Black Lives Matter, Global Warming. wokism.

No matter what people will fill the place religion used to occupy with something, and so far the evidence is that is worse than religion.

      2. Anonymous,
No. I wish I did. Can you imagine how valuable Walton Mountain would be now? 🙂

And no, we did not watch the Waltons on our one TV, though we did spend a lot of time outdoors playing.

        1. When I was four I was running arround my town many blocks from my home on my own.
I wondered arround the town dump collecting interesting things.

Had I allowed my own kids to do the same I would have been arrested for child neglect.

    4. E.M.
Yes. Not far from your upbringing.
      Semi-rural.
      We played outside till dinner.
Dinner was the family ate together.
We did church for a little bit.
Had a Commador VIC20. A few games, but I grew out of those by Jr. High.
      One TV, two phones.

I have noted a number of mental health studies showing Americans are more stressed, depressed since the lockdowns.

    5. Lots of us had a similar childhoods in suburbs of major cities. We never locked our back door. We took off on our bikes (no helmets) and played outside until it got dark. We played guns and robbers, cowboys and indians. We had toy guns. We dressed up however we wanted for Halloween; there was no political correctness. We stuffed a dozen kids into the back of the car, no seatbelts worn. It was a treat to go out to a restaurant. No one had an epi-pen. There were not walls of epi-pens in the school nurse’s office. No one was on Ritalin or Adderal or antidepressants the way so many kids are today.

Over medicating, needlessly medicating, is a big part of the behavioral issue as well studies showing frequent cannabis use can cause psychosis. All of this contributes to a complex societal problem.

  5. 1-Clearly defined procedures for red flag laws as to who can trigger them, time limit on adjudication, clear cut process for returning firearms if adjudication clears the individual,
2-raise the age for autoloader rifles and handguns to 21 unless an individual is in the military.
3-consider bolt action firearms with max caliber of 22 with no magnum varieties ammunition for those 18-21 in age (not military)
4-open juvenile records to the firearms database. People don’t turn 18 and just suddenly appear as a serial killer. Already there are many reported stories of the Uvalde shooter showing some aberrant and violent behavior.
5-more support for school protection and limited access to schools
6-restrict district attorneys ability to drop weapons charges, in negotiation
    A Start.
Also I am a strong 2nd amendment supporter but there are people who should never handle a firearm.

    1. 1- Don’t let the corporate media control your thoughts…ignore them like they don’t exist. Don’t mess with my rights. Move on with your life.

    2. Move to Britain, China,Venezuela, or some where-else that has no “Bill of Rights”.

Or maybe read something about Patrick Henry & the “Chains” you & others are willfully wearing.

  6. Apparently another Biden gaffe….and failing to look before he leaps…then again, we have a former who set a new record for outright LIES.

All deaths are sad, unfortunate and devastating.

42,915 people died on U.S. highways in 2021.

Approximately 118 people die every day on highways.

Why do the MSM NOT report those deaths?

Why don’t communists (liberals, progressives, socialists, democrats, RINOs) in America protest, accuse actual American conservatives of murder-by-motorized-vehicle, and demand that America BAN CARS?

    1. So you’re comparing the act of going to school (or whatever public forum) to being in a steel box, traveling at high speed, in terms of risk?

  8. Defund the police

News media wants to know law enforcement reaction time lines, plan a, plan b…etc

  9. Biden spouted off his favorite line about deer in Kevlar vests during his shameful speech to the nation. Here’s what Biden does not understand: the Second Amendment is for hunting tyranny not deer, Mr. President.

Biden and the Democrat party’s tyrannical sh*tshow of an administration guarantees the Law of Unintended Consquences is in play right now. Gun sales will go through the roof. People who never ever thought of owning a gun, will become gun owners.

You will never EVER confiscate the guns Beto. You can sit down and shut up.

    1. Biden and his administration, and local Democratic leadership, are destroying this country. Every policy they implement makes things worse. Energy prices, inflation, uncontrolled immigration, crime, Afghanistan, Ukraine, and baby formula shortages (and soon perhaps global food shortages more generally as a result of failed policy in Ukraine) — all are intended or unintended consequences of Biden and Democratic Party decisions.

On guns, a perhaps helpful change might be to increase to 21 the age at which gun purchases and ownership are permitted. Young men of today appear to be at risk of doing significant harm with their guns, Even in Texas, you have to be 21 to buy a handgun; raising the long gun age from 18 to 21 would not be a radical change and might do something to reduce risks.

      1. Then raise the service age and the legal adult and voting age as well. No double and triple standards.

        1. The ‘service age’ puts young men age 18 under the management and control of Military Officers and NCOs, their movements very regimented and regulated. School and mass shootings haven’t been associated with 18 year olds in Basic Training on a US Military Base leaving the base with weapons (they’re not allowed to subject to severe penalties) and shooting up citizenry at random. The military service age 18 is a red herring argument.

    2. “But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”

      – Jaded, Enervated and Exhausted Men, the American Revolutionaries, the American Founders – Men Who Would Abide No More – in the Declaration of Independence, 1776

  10. One is continually pressed by this President to decide whether he is just not smart or if there is some sort of plan. Although I did not vote for him, I tried hard to see his point of view because he is, after all, our only President. I’ve used up all of my understanding. Whether he is simply dumb or evil, he is not good for the USA. I like the idea of the Congress changing hands but I have serious doubts that any good will come of that. The GOP may investigate with a vengance but that won’t give it anything to run on in 2024. I remember the 1948 Presidential campaign when Harry Truman ran on the singular idea of the “do-nothing (GOP) Congress.” That produced four more years of Harry.

  11. Many posters suggest all schools should have a single entry point. The problem with that is many of the shooters are students. You then have to search every person entering the school? Add a metal detector? Include preschool, private schools, after school education? What about churches, after school sporting events, the list goes on. Unfortunately, there are mentally deranged people in society and they will find a way to cause destruction if so inclined.

    1. “ Unfortunately, there are mentally deranged people in society and they will find a way to cause destruction if so inclined.”

They are also…law abiding citizens. Because of the ridiculously easy access to guns, rifles, AR style, even .50 cal and the equally ridiculous plethora of types and styles and ammunition those mentally deranged are still able to buy them without a problem. They are only deemed mentally deranged or mentally ill AFTER pulling the trigger for the intent to harm others. That’s when it’s already too late.

Every crazy nut job, zealot, white supremacist, even the mentally ill ARE considered law abiding citizens. They CAN purchase any weapons they can afford, legally. Being mentally ill is not a crime. Being crazy is not a crime either. How do you determine someone is mentally deranged prior to having a weapon in their possession?

Teenagers lose their minds in fits of rage over losing a video game or having their gaming privilages revoked by their parents. Yes that includes 18 yr olds. Does one need to report these mental derangements over video games to authorities so they can be put on a list that bans them from owning a weapon?

What about people prone to road rage?

Here’s what’s interesting, STUPID people can own guns. They can buy as many as they want. Should one incident involving an accident or mishap due do stupidity be a reason to confiscate their guns?

Ramos was a law abiding citizen. Right up to the moment when he decided to shoot his legally purchased weapon. “Good guys with guns”. Couldn’t stop him. It took an entire squad of police officers to finally kill him.

      1. Svelaz, you and I are in total agreement on this subject concerning restrictions on gun ownership. You mention that there is a plethora of guns and ammunition. If you could be more specific on which guns or ammo should be restricted I would be interested in your opinion. The devil is in the details.

        1. TiT,

“ If you could be more specific on which guns or ammo should be restricted I would be interested in your opinion. The devil is in the details.”

What about armor piercing ammunition? Fully automatic weapons? Why shouldn’t they be readily available to anyone?

The right to bear arms says nothing of what kinds you have a right to? Turley mentions Biden’s claim that people during the time the 2nd amendment couldn’t own a canon is false.

Wouldn’t owning a canon be the equivalent of being able to buy armor piercing ammunition or even a machine gun?

You can buy a .50 cal rifle which would literally put a round straight thru an engine block. Why would an armor piercing round not be just as legal?

According to the most zealous 2nd amendment fans. A fully automatic machine gun should be as easy to own as a .38 special. No?

          1. I agree automatic weapons, and armor piercing ammo should be legal. Anything law enforcement uses to protect citizens should also be accessible to the law abiding citizen.

      2. They should make marijuana, cocaine, meth, fentanyl, etc. illegal.

        Oops. They already did, huh!

    2. Maybe we should consider security at schools in the same way we secure the US Capitol and other federal/state buildings, with well-trained, armed professionals on the look-out for those who might potentially harm to those inside. Seriously, if it’s good enough for Congress and the President to be surrounded by armed guards for their protection, why don’t we protect our kids at that level of any kind, if the risk in not doing so exists?

      1. JAFO referred to security at the US Capitol and federal/state buildings. Congress seems to have a vested self-interest in the Capitol but not so much for others. Consider such buildings in the Seattle CHAZ where they did little, if anything, and some even denied there was any need to take action to protect them.

    3. Someone suggested placing traffic cops outside schools. Let them sit in their squad cars outside schools instead of setting random speed traps to ticket someone going 11 miles over the speed limit or rolling through a stop sign.

  12. Surely all actual Americans understand the definition of infringe, and the meaning of the phrase, shall not be infringed.

    Surely the Supreme Court understands.

  13. Biden and his party say lots of false things, every single day at this point (the riots united people? LOL. no. just, no.). I have not seen such gaslighting and blatant, outright lies outside of Russia, North Korea, or China in my lifetime. Party of the people my a**. They honestly expect us to forget the events of a year ago and to ignore the circumstances of the present, with video evidence of them saying the words, and I have nothing left for them where once I supported certain candidates. I am an Independent. I am not a Conservative by any stretch. i support early term abortion, sane immigration, and am basically a tree hugger. I no longer and will never again vote for Democrats. You are either stupid, insulated by wealth and/or privilege to the point that nothing touches you, or straight up paid, if you still vote dem in this country. Look in the mirror.

Thankfully, a whole lot of us, including a lot of former dems, are no longer listening to them. it is going to be ugly, very ugly, when they lose power. Do not be deterred. This is literally our everyday lives on the line. They are whistling in the dark, having thought the clear advantage of their wealth and bloodlines would be enough, and you really don;t need to be afraid. They are not even half of what they project. Their behavior and mentality are the reasons this country was founded in the first place. Make no mistake: modern democrats are the enemy to your dreams and to your freedom to pursue those dreams. You will not hear otherwise from those wealthy enough to forget what it was like to scrounge change to buy basic necessities.

I lived through Carter. Nothing in my lifetime compares to this. we used to get refugees from Russia and China and they had terrible tales to tell. Do not let this elude you. Our dem party is a communist party, and that is just that.

    1. As always, well said James.
Used to be, you could look at a candidate, what their platform was, and then vote by how much you liked that platform. And their platforms, either side, were generally moderate, with a few variances that separated them here and there.
Now, the Dems look like your crazy, senile uncle who has had to many to drink at Thanksgiving.
The Dems embraced the far Left woke agenda, that many life long Dems look on in horror at what their party has become. Bill Maher sees it. Elon Musk sees it. I personally know two life long Dems who see it.
I am a Independent, always have been.

    2. Love Jame’s comments!! Another thing that is vital to our getting our country back on track is to get rid of all voting machines in every state. Stop ballot stuffing! Vote in person with paper ballots. Deceptive voting is a serious problem and must be outlawed!

  14. Is it really accurate to call it a lie when the speaker is senile? Just saying.

    1. Biden is delusional. He’s repeated them so many times that he believes his own lies. No one in the media (outside FOX) will LOUDLY and REPEATEDLY correct him. So we have a delusional rinse & repeat of ‘tall tales told by an idiot’ coming from Bozo Biden’s clown world. And a dangerously misinformed public.

  15. Biden lying is nothing new. From his rank in class, to the amount is scholarships to him driving a Semi truck. Not to mention the plagiarism. My guess is this lie about the 2nd Amendment was not on the teleprompter. Whenever he wings it he ” gets in trouble”.
And yes, Trump lied also. But there is no lie counter by the media like there was for Trump .And I am no Trump fan. But if Trump said it was 72 degrees in Washington the previous day and it actually was 74 degrees, that was counted as a lie.

  16. So Turley feels now, he has to fact-check what the President said, Turley had no concerns between January 20 2017 and January 20 2021.

    1. Have you not noticed the irony that the administration that created the Disinformation Governance Board is a major source of misinformation?

      1. She doesn’t because she is a faithful believer of the left and all of their lies.

    2. Who else is “fact checking” this bozo?

You can sit down and keep quiet.

  17. If China is doing lecturable things (such as being allied with Russia, oppressing Uighurs, threatening Taiwan, etc. ), then, yes, China does indeed need patronizing lectures, in contradiction to Xi Jinping’s false assertion. Keep the patronizing lectures coming, UN Human Rights Chief!

    1. Are you going to lecture India for being allied with Russia? How about Brazil and Mexico? Pretty soon the majority of the world’s population sees you for what you are: a power hungry, out of control, lecturing hypocrite. It’s not a good look.

      1. I don’t particularly care about the opinion of cheap 3rd world hellholes run by 2nd rate fascist dictators. Actually it makes me happy every time I see them upset.

Go away little Russian man, don’t you have a “strong leader” to fellate?

        1. The majority of the world’s population is no longer following our lead. It’s a wonderful thing. It is the US that is turning into a 3rd world hellhole in case you haven’t noticed. Your insults make you look like a toddler who no longer gets his way. I’m your typical looking American and you can come meet me in NYC anytime.

  18. We’ve gone from George Washington, “I can not tell a lie.” to “Honest Abe to Joe Biden who can not tell the truth — the most dishonest, gaslighting President ever!

    1. More like “Dishonest Abe” for a president without any scintilla of a mandate having “won” the presidency with 38.9% of the vote – simply a foot in the door for the brutal tyrant and dictator.

“The lore of Lincoln was forged by the president’s two private secretaries, John Hay and John Nicolay, Joshua Zeitz writes in Smithsonian. ‘The boys,’ as Lincoln called them, constructed the image of modern Lincoln in their role as his official biographers. This, Zeitz argues, is why today’s schoolchildren get to know Lincoln as ‘the sage father figure; the military genius; the greatest American orator; the brilliant political tactician; the master of a fractious cabinet who forged a ‘team of rivals’ out of erstwhile challengers for the throne; the Lincoln Memorial Lincoln.'”

“It would not be easy to state what Lincoln conceived to be the limit of his powers.”

      – James G. Randall
      _______________

“Crazy Abe” and his communist successors probably assigned General Sherman, of “March to the Sea” fame, watch over Hay and Nicolay to pro-actively-assure-without-fail a gleaming, if false, portrait of America’s most prolific murderer, one who was entirely bereft of rationale and legal basis.

Everything “Crazy Abe” Lincoln did was unconstitutional, from his denial of secession without legal basis, to his successors’ unconstitutional “RECONSTRUCTION Amendments,” which were crafted to the exacting ideological standards of Karl Marx, who wrote a letter of congratulation and commendation to Lincoln for his ceaseless efforts “…in the RECONSTRUCTION of a social world.”

“Lincoln’s opponents, on the other hand, tended to view the ‘Honest Abe’ nickname as indicative of a characteristic he didn’t have, in the same way one might call a fat person ‘slim’ or a bald man ‘curly.'”

      Was Lincoln honest?

“Absolutely not. In fact, that moniker was meant as a sarcasm, because he was so ruthlessly crooked with everything he said, crafting his words to mean the exact opposite of what they appeared to mean. He would also talk out of both sides of his mouth to different audiences, telling them exactly what they wanted to hear. He knew that once he got into power, none of it would make any difference. Lincoln was simply the most dishonest politician in world history, and became the model for the dictators that followed.”
