Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) and others responded to the massacre in Highland Park, Illinois with calls for more gun limits and bans. Pritzker repeated a dubious musket argument but also ignored that Illinois has some of the most stringent gun laws in the country, including bans on assault weapons and a red flag law. The media is reporting that Robert “Bobby” Crimo III, an aspiring rapper, is a person “known to law enforcement.” His postings reveal highly disturbing videos and bizarre images, including violent references.
Pritzker appeared in Highland Park after the shooting to call for more limits and criticize the protections afforded under the Second Amendment to gun owners. Pritzker repeated the common argument that
“Our founders carried muskets, not assault weapons, and I don’t think a single one of them would have said that you have a constitutional right to an assault weapon with a high-capacity magazine or that that is more important than the right of the people who attended this parade today to live.”
President Biden has made an analogous and clearly false claim that certain guns were banned for private ownership when the Second Amendment was ratified: “The Second Amendment is not absolute. When it was passed you couldn’t own a cannon, you couldn’t own certain kinds of weapons. There’s just always been limitations.”
Once again, there were no federal laws barring cannon ownership when the Second Amendment was enacted. Gun laws remained local matters and I do not know of any bans on cannons or other gun types until much later in our history. Early local laws did control concealed weapons, though concealed cannons were not part of those ordinances.
Indeed, the Constitution itself supports private cannon ownership in the case of privateers. Article 1, Section 8, Clause 11 allows Congress to “grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal.” That allowed private parties to privateer on the high seas with . . . cannons. (Recently some members of Congress wanted to issues such letters of Marque again to enlist privateers in the fight against Russia).
Pritzker’s musket argument is equally dubious. He presumably does not take the same narrow reading of other parts of the Constitution on individual rights. For example, he recognizes that privacy is protected even though it is not mentioned and our notion of privacy rights has become more expansive over time. The “living Constitution” model allows for such expanded meaning.
Moreover, while the Framers were used to “letters” (and the Fourth Amendment references letters), few would argue that the same protection does not apply to electronic letters in the form of emails or digital files with communications.
In the end, the musket argument is often the fallback position for those who previously opposed interpreting the Second Amendment as an individual right. Some, however, also pushed that line of argument. Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney suggested that only police should have any guns of any kind.
What is interesting is that this is a state with some of the most stringent gun laws in the country. That includes a red flag law, a waiting period for gun purchases, background checks, gun owner licensing, domestic violence gun laws, and “open carry regulations.” This and other counties have “assault weapons” bans.
According to the mayor, this weapon was “legally obtained.”
As with past calls following such tragedies, the question is what in addition Pritzker is advocating that would have stopped this massacre. A high-capacity magazine ban would not stop such shootings. Anyone with a modicum of experience with weapons can swap out magazines in a matter of a seconds.
What may have stopped the massacre is the enforcement of the red flag laws given the dark and deranged postings of this individual. However, such laws depend on people reporting such warning signs and police enforcing the laws. The fact is that many shooters are not known to police or experience a sudden and lethal turn where such laws are largely ineffective.
As a Chicago native, I am very familiar with this area and spent a great deal of time in Highland Park and neighboring towns. It is a very affluent area with a relatively small population. Yet, even in this small community with considerable assets for mental health and law enforcement intervention, red flag and other laws did not prevent the shooting.
For politicians like Pritzker (and President Biden) who raised new limits after this shooting, there should be a demand for specifics on not just how they will constitutionally limit guns but whether such limits would have actually prevented this tragedy. There remain areas where we can make real progress, particularly in the greater funding of mental illness programs. However, there must also be greater honesty about the range of constitutional and practical options in dealing with such shootings.
No surprise here. Chances of Americans looking within and practice introspection? As long as the internet exists, none.

Pre revolutionary diversity within a colony was driven more by economic factors than other values.
Indentured servants were originally from London, but eventually came from ireland and other places as the need for labor was greater than the supply.
The revolution cemented diversity into the nation – because there were not 13 states of puritans, or irish indentured servants or catholics or quakers of menonites, or dutch, or … But 13 states made of ALL of these,
Diversity was a REQUIRED value to form a nation from the late prerevolutionary period – because there was no way any state could be independent alone.
Diversity was thrust upon colonists by necesity not because it was a core value.
But with very few exceptions such as freed blacks and slaves that diversity was still limited to white europeans at the time of the revolution.
The inclusion of other groups into the american ideal was a choice made slowly over time – often facing strong opposition.
And despite YOUR presumption that there is some moral right, there is not. American diveristy was a choice, and it is an ongoing choice.

Those choices have effects – economic and political.
Democrats are discovering that even 2nd and 3rd generation children of often illegal immigrants are not happy about competing with new illegal immigrants. This should have been obvious to democrats as it has happened with every prior wave of immigrants. Those here most recently do not want hordes of new immigrants competing with them for jobs.
This country can absorb millions of low skilled immigrants each year – but it will be a different country. For most of us in the middle class or above it will be a better country – we are in the top of the pyramid. Bringing more people in at the bottom helps them AND us.
But for lower class and working class americans new immigrants compete for jobs and LOWER their standard of living.
It also effects the structure of society – the more unskilled labor we bring in the more unskilled jobs we must create.
If the US brings in millions of low skill people from anywhere – and reduces minimum wages we can bring back many jobs that were lost to countries with large lowskilled workforces.
But we will also slow progress towards higher standards of living, more automation, and the production of higher quality goods of higher value.
The left wants electric cars – we are a long way from immigrants affording electric cars.
The left wants a green energy regime – no matter how difficult that is, it ismany times more difficult the more unskilled labor we import.
In certain ways Calhoune is correct – WE get to decide the future of our country. But the left does not grasp that our choices have consequences.
More immigration from Asia will produce a much different country than more immigration from south and Central america.
Nor are we obligated to take people from anywhere. We do so as a choice.
Nearly all americans right and left today – unlike Calhoune value the choice of more immigrants.
But we are NOT in agreement on the scale of immigration or where those imigrants should come from.
Ultimately the resolution to that MUST be political, and I think democrats have made a mistake by dramatically outrunning public support.
A FEW democrats are saying – We the elite will choose for the country – not the people as a whole.
That is proving politically disasterous, and is likely the single most important factor turning the democratic party into an elitist white party, and losing it the support of minorities and the working class.

‘Constitution’ was also referenced to gut a New York gun law that had been in effect since 1912. Then the court used ‘Constitution’ to marginalize almost every regulatory agency. Our ability to adapt to Climate Change is now in serious doubt.
Already at least half the country is sick of hearing ‘Constitution’ in the context of excuses for rulings that seem to dovetail with long-sought Republican priorities. And we are quickly reaching a point where ‘Constitution’ is a term we link with far-right politics.

The “Cell Phone” location data the police Typically use varies in accuracy from +-1000ft to +-100ft.
She had a client convicted of burglary based on a single Cell Tower position +-1000ft that placed him half way between the building that was robbed and his home.
TTV is using GPS location data that is provided by the applications on your phone. If you have an Apple of Google Smart phone and you have locations services enabled for any application that is currently running then you phone is sending that App regular updates of your location.
That is how you get location specific adds and offers. But the data does not go directly to the App – it goes to Apple or Google first. They store and collect the data and they make money selling it to others.
TTV Bought 16Trillion smart device location points from the greater metropolitain area of the 6 cites that flipped the election.
And fo the Record Government statistician John Lott has previsious done a statistical analysis of those 6 cities comparing voting patterns in adjacent precincts and has found that Voting in those 6 cities did NOT follow the same trends and patters that were present elsewhere in the country, and did not follow the trends and patterns of democraphically identical and adjacent districts where ballots were counted by different election officials.
This technique is used in statistics and economics all the time to find anomolous data – and Lott found that there3 was a 400K vote statistical anomally in those locations that defied 2020 voting trends.
That is not proof of fraud, But it is far more than suffficient invidence that an investigation is required.
Government did not conduct an investigation – TTV did.
The removed all data for devices that frequented the locations of ballot drop boxes BEFORE the start of voting.
This was to eliminate people who as a part of their normal lives were regularly close to where ballot drop boxes were placed.
They then narrowed their criteria for suspected ballot harvesting further – only smart devices that were within 1m of 10 drop boxes in one day and 5 of the 501C3’s running Biden’s GOTV operation. So to be counted as a Ballot Harvesting suspect – you had to be within 1m of 15 different election related locations in ONE day.
The statistical odds of that generating a false positive for Ballot harvesting is miniscule.
Using those criteria in the 6 cities they identified over 2000 smart devices that visited 5 Biden 501C3 and 10 Drop boxes in one night.
Then they went to the next step and used FOIA requests and court orders to get 1million minutes of Security video of ballot boxes from these areas.
They should have been able to get far more – but in most instances legally required cameras were not installed or disabled or the video was destroyed in violation of state and federal election law – in otherwords MORE ELECTION FRAUD.
Using the 1m minutes of video they were able to find video that matched many of the GPS data points – in otherwords if the GPS said that a person was at a ballot box on this day and time – they were able to find that person at that ballot box with their cell phone at the date, time and location the GPS data specified. That Video showed that person depositing 5-6 Ballots into the drop box at that date and time and taking pictures to prove the ballots were being deposited.
TTV separately through adds and other means found some of the ballot harvestors and was able to interview them where they reported that the pictures were the proof they needed to get paid for delivering the ballots.
TTV has taken the investigation as far is it can be taken without the power to subpeona the identities of the people harvesting ballots, and the financial records of the 501C3’s they visited to prove payment.
I would note that if the criteria was reduced to 5 dropboxes in a night instead of 10 that would increase the number of ballot harvesters to 8000 and the number of fraudulent ballots to almost 1M, but it would also increase slightly the false positive rate.
That would be relevant – if you were looking to convict a “mule” – it is not relevant if you are trying to prove Election Fraud.
If TTV’s criteria produced a False positive rate of 10% – the likely false positive rate is more like 0.1% it would STILL conclusively proof massive election fraud.
In all of these states it is illegal to pay someone to deliver ballots,
It is illegal to deliver ballots of people you have no relationship to.
It is illegal to deliver multiple ballots.
In some of these states it is illegal to deliver ballots for anyone but yourself.
In others a spouse may deliver their spouses ballot.
In some immediate familiy is permitted to deliver ballots.
In some a person with a power of attorney i allowed to deliver ballots.
In some election officials can be requested to pick up ballots for people who can not themselves.
In no states are all these methods legal.
In no states would what TTV found be legal.
I would note that TTV is not done yet.
They are using similar techniques to investigate other claims ofelection fraud.
As an example there are several affidavits that claim that a van with many boxes containing thousands of abllots each showed up an the Detriot counting center at 3am election night – 7 hours after MI law barred election officials from accepting additional ballots. There is no record of this van delivery. There is no record of the required two observers – 1 democrat 1 republican that are required to oversee any transfer of ballots.
After a very long court battle TTV was able to enforce an FOAI request for the Video from the Detroit counting center. And they found a van arriving at 3:35am with Official election markings, They have further using the Geolocation data they already collected been able to identify 8 smart devices that appeared in that loading dock at the same time as the van, and they are working on tracing these. They expect to be able to trace the route of the van and determine where it picked up the ballots. While the van’s existance already validates PRIOR affadavits regarding Detroit election fraud.
Tracking the van will allow TTV to determine where the ballots likely originated. If the van’s stops were not at election sites – if they were at democrat 501C3’s this is damning evidence of large scale fraud.

The Geolocation data TTV used is far more precise than the Cell Tower Data that the police typically use. The geolocation data is +- 1meter,
The Cell data varied from +-50ft to +-1000ft.
Geolocation data is derived by your smart device, it minimally is based on GPS, but that is typically improved using Cellular and even WiFi signals.
So it is always atleast as accurate as GPS. Which since Clinton turned off the automatic Error inducement in the 90’s is +-3ft.
I would further note – it is not the 90’s anymore – there are now 6+ constellations of “gps” satellites, Those of the US are the most pervasive, but there are other systems and most GPS chipsets can receive from several of them – improving accuracy even further.

What is troubling is that the police were called on him. No charges made and they left taking the knifes with them.
They should have been able to take him in for an involuntary psych eval.

Police were called to the residence in 2019 because Crimo was having suicidal thoughts, but he was not involuntarily committed. In Illinois, you need a cosponsor to sign off on your Firearm Owners Identification card, or FOID, in order to purchase a firearm if you are under age 21. After his unstable behavior in 2019, his father still agreed to sponsor his FOID in order for him to purchase multiple weapons.
Crimo’s uncle announced to the media that there was no warning whatsoever that this guy was potentially violent. He was either being untruthful, or the family did not share information on Crimo’s mental state with other relatives.
Due process is required to remove the right to buy a firearm from an American citizen. Why isn’t that process being followed with clearly unstable people?
That said, I used to work with someone who had a cousin with mental health issues. He assaulted his father, who declined to press charges. Over and over, he tried to hurt people, who were either relatives or friends, who didn’t want to have him arrested due to their connection. They wanted him committed for inpatient care, but apparently it’s become quite difficult to commit someone against their will. My friend said that he would probably have to kill someone before he was ever committed or taken off the street.

If you read the article… they said high velocity rounds, which is correct. Most of the news reported as high powered. Its not.
The other thing is that the NBC article went back to the local ordinance banning ARs and AKs.
SCOTUS should have heard the case. Instead it allowed the law to stand.

There is no death penalty in IL
Until we come to grips with how our culture has evolved once public policy became hostile to the teaching of religion in public schools, then we won’t ever be able to construct adequate laws that secure our right to life, liberty and property. We cannot seek to understand what the framer’s intended in the 2nd amendment, or any of the 1st ten amendments, without understanding the culture at the time they were written. Would they have written the 1st amendment to protect a press that was hostile to those concerned about tyranny of government? Would they have ever been able to get the constitution ratified if the teaching of religion was banned in public schools? Would it have ever been ratified if the government eliminated the right to private gun ownership, while the same government encouraged an absolutely immoral culture? The constitution was written at a time when there were few public schools, and those that existed were in communities where there was one denomination and that denomination controlled the government and the schools.

If a teacher can not pray in government school – then there can be no government schools,.
The first amendment guarantees people the right to practice their religion.
