“The 6 justices … Should Never Know Peace Again”: Harvard Instructor Calls for People to “Accost” Justices in Public

We recently discussed the Georgetown law professor who defended “more aggressive” protests targeting the Supreme Court justices, but Harvard clinical instructor Alejandra Caraballo wants to guarantee that “The 6 justices who overturned Roe should never know peace again.” Accordingly, Caraballo is calling for people to “accost them every time they are in public.” That harassment, according to Caraballo, is the “civic duty” of every American.

The tweet from Caraballo is the latest example of academics seeking to harass these justices because they hold opposing constitutional views. It is also an example of the addiction to rage that has developed in this country. There is a license that comes with rage that is evident in Caraballo’s writings: “Since women don’t have their rights, these justices should never have a peaceful moment in public again.” The tweets even attach photos to assist others in this ignoble enterprise.

These calls have continued despite the alleged attempted murder of Justice Brett Kavanaugh at his home recently.

I have defended the right of people to protest justices, but having a right does not mean that you cannot abuse that right. Hounding and harassing justices and judges because you do not like their conclusions is wrong and dangerous. Most Americans are appalled by this conduct and we need to collectively condemn those who seek to mete out their own retaliatory justice.
As more on the left call for aggressive protests and public confrontations, this harassment is more and more likely to turn violent. There are many unbalanced individuals who will see such calls as a license for violent action. A justice or judge should not have to put his or her family at risk to serve on our courts. These academics are fueling a sense of mob justice that will cause untold harm to our judicial system and the rule of law.

  1. A Harvard law professor use to mean something and held in high esteem . No more I put my community college degree plus the four wars I did for my country above the radical left and those who think they know better . May God Bless our country .

  2. It truly is a spiritual battle,
    Right vs. Left,
    Righteous vs. Leftists
Those on the righteous path of our Lord Jesus Christ, and those on the left-hand path of Lucifer.
these our the Sides, time has come to pick your side, our Lord is making it impossible to sit on the fence any longer, the evil is so pervasive now, it’s impossible to miss or mistake anymore….No More Excuses!

  3. at the root of every leftist is a satanic demon, a fallen soul.
    and those people are lost,
We’re finally seeing the mask come off……and they’re ugly inside

  4. Intimidating a judge is against the law. These people should be prosecuted.

  5. This can work both ways. To this point the right has ignored the violence and threats of the left. At some point, that will end. As a middle-of-the-road person, I find myself turning to the right more all the time. These nut jobs on the left make anything democrat poison. One of normal intelligence can not accept the lunatics on the left.

  6. I don’t think any public official should be protested at his/her private residence. That being said I almost hope this situation becomes a tit-for-tat, and a bunch of far-right militia types start protesting loudly at the 3 liberal justices’ homes, maybe with loud Harleys going back and forth, back and forth, up and down the street. How long would it be before Merrick Garland found a reason to shut them down?

  7. I understand that Alejandra Caraballo is trans. The real question is, does she have a penis?

    1. Gender: physical and psychological sex-correlated attributes. A male identifying as a female (e.g. trans/neo), maybe. Or a trans/homosexual.

  8. And this is shocking? Massive lefties coming out of Harvard? Click on the woman’s Twitter account. She is a victim, of course. At least in her mind. Oh, and another shocking detail: you’re a racist. Bet you haven’t heard that one before,,,

  9. From her page at harvard[.]edu: “Alejandra Caraballo is a Clinical Instructor at Harvard Law School’s Cyberlaw Clinic.”

“Cyberlaw” is a refuge of nutcases

  10. Life is capricious, Jeff. There is no guarantee that you will outlive any of us.. A small measure of relief for this austere body.

  11. Turley decries the “age of rage” without ever alluding to the role of his employer, Fox, in stirring such rage. If you watched yesterday’s J6 hearings, you know that Trump’s Big Lie was the stimulus for people to go to Washington to rally and then proceed to the Capitol. Fox was one of the main purveyors of the Big Lie that continues to divide Americans. All for the ego of a selfish narcissist. Has it ever apologized for causing people to doubt the 2020 election? No. Up until Tuesday, Fox tried to sow seeds of doubt about whether there ever was a 10 year old rape victim from Ohio. Some of the disciples on this blog even said it had been “disproven”. Turley also jumped on the bandwagon, and while not specifically claiming the story was a lie, tried to poke holes in it. The perpetrator has been arrested. Will Turley and/or Fox apologize? No.

This particular piece today pertains to the polticians in black robes who lied to get onto the SCOTUS, and who were appointed by someone who cheated his way into office with the help of Russian hackers, and who never won the popular vote. In the Dobbs decision, they stated that they were of the opinion that Roe was “egregiously wrong”, but never even hinted that this was their opinion when interviewed by Senators or in their confirmation hearings. Their answers were deliberately deceitful, because they knew that if they told the truth, they couldn’t get the power to overturn Roe and other rights guaranteed by the Constitution. So, they lied. So, they took away a woman’s right to choose and the ability of states to control guns. While they tried to deny that Dobbs could be construed to undermine the rights of marriage equality, consensual sex between adults and contraceptive, one of the “justices” says otherwise. This is just wrong.

Turley wants us to behave as if all of this is OK, just part of how America works, and that SCOTUS Justices are entitled to respect. It’s NOT OK. People are mad as hell and aren’t going to take it any more. These people should be ashamed that they lied to get onto the court of last resort, and that they twisted the logic of prior landmark decisions to arrive at their preferred outcome, but they aren’t. So, I really don’t find it offensive if people heckle them when they are in public or otherwise show them the disdain they have earned, so long as they don’t break any laws. They aren’t entitled to the usual respect earned by SCOTUS Justices.

    1. “A close examination of the carefully worded answers by the three Trump appointees, however, shows that while each acknowledged at their hearings that Roe was precedent, and should be afforded the weight that that carries, none specifically committed to refusing to consider overturning it.” <> So, who is really lying?

    2. Those who support killing babies in the womb are depraved. Too bad their mothers didn’t abort them.

      1. It’s amazing. Every single pro-abortion advocate is ALIVE!

    3. 1) Ruth Bader Ginsberg felt that Roe v Wade was bad law and an overreach by the federal government.
      2) NO nominee for Supreme Court Justice should ever enter the court having already decided the validity of cases before they’re ever put before them. Otherwise, what’s the point of having a Supreme Court?
      3) Plenty of prior Supreme Court decisions have been overturned by later Supreme Court decisions. I’m sure if those decisions align with your way of thinking, you wouldn’t be so quick to condemn them. And you certainly wouldn’t condone liberal justices being constantly harassed everytime they appear in public.

    4. You poor, poor, simple, STOOPID commie child. Your mommy the meth whöre told you a Big Lie when she said she kept the baby and threw out the placenta, you miserable commierat POS. Keep your filthy little mouth shut in the presence of men and women, little boy, girl or trannie. 🖕🏻

  12. “An Open Letter Denouncing the Attacks on Justice Clarence Thomas

White progressives do not have the moral authority to excommunicate a black man from his race because they disagree with him.

And those – regardless of background – who join in the charade or remain silent are guilty of enabling this abuse.

We, the undersigned, condemn the barrage of racist, vicious, and ugly personal attacks that we are witnessing on Clarence Thomas – a sitting Supreme Court justice. Whether it is calling him a racist slur, an “Uncle Tom” or questioning his “blackness” over his jurisprudence, the disparagement of this man, of his faith and of his character, is abominable.

Regardless of where one stands on Justice Thomas’ personal or legal opinions, he is among the pantheon of black trailblazers throughout American history and is a model of integrity, scholarship, steadfastness, resilience, and commitment to the Constitution of the United States of America. For three decades Justice Thomas has served as a model for our children. He has long been honored and celebrated by black people in this country and his attackers do not speak for the majority of blacks.

He is entirely undeserving of the vitriol directed at him. Character assassination has become too convenient a tool for eviscerating those who dare dissent from the prevailing agenda, especially when it is a black man who is dissenting.

This is not about the content of the court’s decisions or Justice Thomas’ personal views; some of the undersigned agree with his judicial decisions and some do not. We speak out – as black people and Americans – to condemn these attacks and support Justice Thomas, because to remain silent would be to implicitly endorse these poisonous schemes as well as his destruction.”

      1. Who can forget watching Thomas’ confirmation hearings? I never thought I would hear a reference to “Long Dong Silver” in the hallowed halls of Congress! And I clearly remember Thomas throwing down the race card with his “high-tech lynching” accusation.

        Well played, Thomas, well played.

          1. I don’t think Thomas is a racist. Not at all. He just played his trump card is all.

      2. impressive letter, impressive list of signers, impressive groundswell

blacks are finally taking back the conversation to where it should have gone decades ago: the Left has nothing to offer blacks except insults, enslavement to poverty and lies.

NY Post interview of Justice Thomas

        https://nypost.com/2022/06/22/how-liberal-policies-have-killed-black-communities-clarence-thomas/

Michael Pack: You have talked a little today about how life in the black community has not been improved by many well-intentioned social programs. Do you think, in some sense, it is worse than when you grew up?

Clarence Thomas: It’s a disaster. When I grew up, you had family, you didn’t have drugs, you didn’t have gang-banging. You could walk down the street.

There was a change in our society. I think that these programs certainly had an impact. Just go back to Savannah and take a look around you. Our worst fears were realized. We didn’t want to be right; we wanted to be wrong. It wasn’t about winning an argument. No, we wanted to lose the argument. We did not want the damage to occur; that’s why we were involved. I don’t particularly like public life; I never wanted to be in public life. I’d like to go to football games. I’d like not to make decisions about other people’s lives, but what drags you into it is when you see these principles being undermined, which leads to such destruction. The policies destroy people, and, ultimately, I think, we’re going to destroy the very thing that allows us to have liberty and to have a free society.

MP: You’ve made many trips back to both Pin Point and Savannah. When you return, do you reflect on your life? Do you reflect on how it is now?

CT: I don’t reflect a lot about these sorts of things. A lot of this is depressing, and it didn’t have to happen. The Savannah that I return to is not the Savannah I grew up in. There are good parts, you’re free to move about. You don’t have the segregation, but you’ve got pathologies that we didn’t have before. You’ve got the crime we didn’t have before. You’ve got the disintegration of families that you didn’t have before, disorder you didn’t have before. And they were things that were avoidable. You didn’t have to do that to poor people, and it’s just heartbreaking. Something has changed, so it’s kind of hard to go back.

    2. “THE EARNEST OF THE EPOCH [LEADING TO] THE RECONSTRUCTION OF A SOCIAL WORLD”

      To understand is to know.

An American has to ask himself, “How did this happen in America?”

In 1790, within a year of adoption of the Constitution, the American Founders established the citizenry of America, the nature of America, what America was.
      __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Naturalization Acts of 1790, 1795, 1798 and 1802 (four iterations as resolution)

United States Congress, “An act to establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization,” March 26, 1790

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, That any Alien being a free white person, who shall have resided within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States for the term of two years, may be admitted to become a citizen thereof…
      _____________________________________________________________________________________

According to the Founders, your discussion is moot.

Apparently, the America of the Founders was later opposed by Karl Marx and Abraham Lincoln.

The U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights were written to stand.

The Naturalization Acts stood for a mere 71 years.

How did this happen in America?

Lincoln espouses communism and Marx’s pejoratives “capitalists” and “fleece the people” in 1837.

It’s been all downhill ever since – a progressive downhill slide into communism.

It has not been the freedom of the Founders to “pursue happiness”, but enslavement by the communists to compel the infection of misery.
      ________________________________________________________

“These capitalists generally act harmoniously and in concert, to fleece the people.”

  13. Many of us who follow Professer Turley’s writings are not anti-homosexual nor anti-transgender, nor have we been so in our lives. So when one researches this person who calls for SCOTUS Justices to not know a moment of peace, and learns she, formerly a he, is a big-time activist in the LGBTQIA+ world, in New York politics and elsewhere, and has called for the extreme defunding of the New York City Police Department, this sheds some light upon what gives rise to these comments.

  14. Does Harvard University approve of this comment by one of their own?
If Harvard does not cancel/fire/terminate/punish/sanction this individual for this comment, the next steps should include obtaining the list of donors to Harvard, as well as all alumni of the school, as well as all of its Professors and Associate Professors, and its Staff and Executive Level personnel—- and bring this to their attention and ask them to take a stand – one way or the other — “Do you agree, or do you disagree” Just as our current Vice President would say, as she said when questioning witnesses as a Senator ‘it’s a yes or no question!’ It’s the out of control ‘rage maniacs’ who make this next step necessary, but the cooler heads (most of us Americans) to prevail.

    1. Wishful thinking, Richard Lowe. Harvard will continue to sit at the summit of academia as they, and the rest of their ilk, cultivate the next generation of ‘sick puppies’ both in the Law and other areas of endeavor, who constitute the true existential threat to this Constitutional Republic. Where the prior generations which spawned them went wrong is, approaching my eighth decade is beyond my ken. Our 50+ yo Harvard brat certainly does not hold with these philosophies.

  15. People who make statements like that better be looking over their shoulder too because there are just as many people who don’t agree with you is that the world you want to live in?

    1. The publicly-traded corporation that manufactures Kevlar and other bullet-proof protection should see a substantial increase in its profits in the months and years ahead — remember when the school shooting happened in Florida at the Stoneman location, when the backpack manufacturers started producing backpacks with bullet-proofing for schoolkids? Here we are many years later —- and the rage has gotten a lot worse —- but the protection for our kids hasn’t changed much.

  16. And that’s why your previous column on free speech rights of the mob in front of the justices’ homes is wrong. They’re not exercising “free speech.” They’re exercising harassment and intimidation. Does any justice, or their family feel safe leaving their home or walking around the neighborhood? If not, then this isn’t a free speech issue. It’s a threat issue.

  17. @hullbobby

“If anyone ever went after Sotomeyer in a public place the deranged partisan Merrick Garland would send a damn SWAT team after them.”

    YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!

Burn down a FEDERAL courthouse, no problem, firebomb a POLICE STATION, fine, invade the senate elevator during a hearing, wow, look at you go, firebomb a police car, an act taken by two IVY LEAGUE LAWYERS, let’s talk deal, protest at the Capital, hope you like solitary confinement. The disparate treatment has never been so egregious and I think it is eroding our trust in the system.

    YOU ARE TWO FOR TWO!

Do not be surprised by any of this – it means it isn’t your (or my) country anymore. We aren’t going to vote our way out of this! Remember in their eyes people like us stand in the way of their leftist utopia.

    antonio
