Harvard Study: J6 Rioters Were Motivated by Loyalty to Trump, Not Insurrection

According to The Crimson, Harvard has completed what it calls the most comprehensive study of the motivations of those involved in the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot. Many will not be surprised to learn that most participated out of loyalty to former President Donald Trump. However, the study also found that only eight percent harbored “a desire to start a civil war.” That is inconsistent with the virtual mantra out of the J6 Committee and many in Congress that this was an insurrection rather than a riot. Some of us (including many in the public) have previously questioned that characterization. Yet, it reflects the relatively small number of seditious conspiracy charges brought by the Justice Department.

The study found that a plurality of the 417 federally charged defendants were motivated by the “lies about election fraud and enthusiasm for his re-election.” It concluded that “[t]he documents show that Trump and his allies convinced an unquantifiable number of Americans that representative democracy in the United States was not only in decline, but in imminent, existential danger.”

The study also found that belief in QAnon “was one of the [defendants’] lesser motives.” The study was hardly pro-Trump and one author even expressed surprise with the results since conspiracy theories “were so prominently displayed in much of the [riot’s] visual imagery.”

Once again, none of this exonerates or excuses those who rioted on January 6th or those who fueled the riot. However, the use of “insurrection” by the politicians, pundits, and the press is not an accurate characterization of the motivation of most of the people who went to the Capitol on that day. It was clear that this was a protest that became a riot.

There is no question that there were people who came prepared for such a riot, including some who are extremists who likely would have welcomed a civil war. Yet, the vast majority of people on that day were clearly present to protest the certification and wanted Republicans to join those planning to challenge the election.

One of the key reasons for the resulting damage was the collapse of security at the Hill. The J6 Committee steadfastly refused to address the myriad of questions of why the Congress was not better prepared despite the obvious dangers of a riot (including warnings before January 6th).

The scenes of that day are seared in the memory of many of us. I publicly condemned Trump’s speech while it was being given and I called for a bipartisan vote of censure over his responsibility in the riots. However, there has been an unrelenting effort to make “insurrection” a litmus test for anyone speaking about January 6th. If one does not use that term (and, worse yet, expresses doubts about its accuracy), you run the risk of immediate condemnation as someone excusing or supporting insurrection. This framing also reduces the need to address the question of how this riot was allowed to spiral out of control.

It is possible to express revulsion about what happened on Jan. 6th without claiming that this was an insurrection and attempt to overthrow the nation. This was a collective tragedy for the entire nation, a desecration of our constitutional process. The effort to mandate “insurrection” as the only acceptable description prevents the country from speaking with a unified voice. It clearly serves political purposes but only makes a national resolution more difficult as we approach a new presidential election.

  1. This is a protest turned riot, even identified as such by the FBI. Why are most of the non-violent people arrested still in jail under insurrection / rebellion charges?
And some people have been banned for life from holding public office for the same charges?

  2. The J6 Committee steadfastly refused to address the myriad of questions of why the Congress was not better prepared despite the obvious dangers of a riot (including warnings before January 6th).

Therein lies the problem and I suspect an insurmountable one for any would be prosecutor.

  3. And once again, let the left and far left have their field day. But when the pendulum swings the other way, it is going to swing very hard.

There is no difference between these rioters and Colinford Mattis.”
      *******************************************************
No just that ol’ Comrade Colinford was armed with a Molotov Cocktail and distributed the same to other arsonists before firebombing an unoccupied police vehicle. The Jan 6th crowd wasn’t armed and weren’t lawyers sworn to uphold the law. Oh and Colinford hated America a lot. So obviously, there’s no difference. Just like the allied bombing of Berlin was like the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor. Distinctions are foreign to you, right?

        1. So trump was the insurrectionist and all that marched to the Capitol and attacked the police with bear spray, flag poles and threatened to hang pence, millions in damages and injured many and killed a few were just protestors who rioted? Who are these people at Harvard? I feel they are mainly morons

          1. Please name the people whom the protesters killed and identify the property that was set on fire or otherwise destroyed. You and your ilk lie about the meaning and severity of the actions of those you detest as your enemies, while denying your own proven crimes and corruption with righteous indignation. Democrats are disgusting in this way.

    2. Really ?

How many molotov cocktails were used at J6 ?

Did a single J6 protestor engage in Arson ?

  4. There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals.

Well, when there aren’t enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone?

But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt.

Nancy Pelosi stands eyeball to eyeball with Xi Jinping.

    Nancy Pelosi blinks.

Nancy Pelosi excludes Taiwan from her Asia tour itinerary.

Nancy Pelosi is rightfully perceived by the world as to be not in possession of the cojones requisite for the job.

That is the definition of woman.

    1. Misogynist George, Trump excluded Taiwan from his Asia tour itineraries too. No doubt you’ll also conclude that he lacked cojones. Oh wait, no, you’re a misogynist and when men and women do the same thing, you only criticize the women.

BTW, take a biology class. Pelosi has ovarios.

      1. Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me, right?

        You’re a little kid; a little child.

Real President Donald J. Trump never blinked while eyeball to eyeball with She Jinpink.

        Nanny P did.

        I’m sorry for you.

        The whole world watched.

She Jinpink ordered Nanny P out of Taiwan.

She followed orders; she omitted any mention of Taiwan from her itinerary.

Geez, you don’t even have the cojones to publish a name.

        I mean, c’mon, man…uh, if you are.

        WHAT?!!

        1. If you actually believed “Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me,” you wouldn’t name call. You do it because your goal is to hurt people by calling them names.

You’re a misogynist. You’re also a racist. Seems like you’re proud of being a bigot, so it’s strange that you consider it name-calling when someone identifies you as the bigot you are.

          1. It is not bigotry I favor, but legality.

Fundamental law has been illicitly nullified and egregiously violated since 1860; it has been ever since.

Both John Wilkes Booth and Abraham Lincoln MUST have obeyed the law and fundamental law in a society of laws.

Secession was and remains fully constitutional by omission.

Abortion was never a constitutional right.

Apparently, you are not inclined and ill prepared to argue law.

        2. Trump is immune to cowardice, since he thinks he is untouchable. Fortunately he is mistaken. Even the power puffers get popped at some point. Can’t wait until he understands that he, like everyone, is only human.

      2. Are you sure? At her age, if they are still present, they resemble a pair of raisins in appearance and function.

      3. Anonymous the Stupid, Trump didn’t blink. He decided not to go and was already trying to negotiate with the Chinese government to change the political dynamics. He used tariffs and tried to reduce China’s negative impact on America. Pelosi should never have set an agenda that had to be canned because she was threatened. That is not leadership.

      4. Anonymous, the Trump administration broke with decades of U.S. policy to recognize Taiwan. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/asia_pacific/trump-biden-taiwan-china/2021/01/13/1bbadee0-53c0-11eb-acc5-92d2819a1ccb_story.html. Once again you fail to do the research to justify your ramble. It took me less time to find out the Trump administration policy on Taiwan then to make this post. What level of prejudicial intelligence must be in place to make statements that are easily found to be untrue? The question answers itself.

        1. It is not like it is some secret that Trump accelerated an essentia pivot of US foreign policy from Russia facing to China facing.

A significant portion of Faux Impeachment One was the dissatisfied members of the Eastern European desks venting because Trump was diminishing their importance.

For decades everyone wanted to sit on the Russia Desk. Today it is China Foreign policy that is predominant.

At the end of the Obama administration Asian foreign policy was a complete mess. Most of the countries in Asia had lost confidence in the US and were striving to make their separate peace with China. By the time Trump left office, US foreign policy had completely shifted to Asia focused and China Facing. We had built or restored connections with Tiawan, Japan, South Korea, Philipines, Australia, Vietnam and India among others.

Trump acheived Chinese containment. Further Trump had the other nations of Asia working together semi independent of the US to contain China.
Japan has announced that an Attack on Taiwan is the same as an Attack on the Japanese Homeland. That is a huge deal.
Japan has established a massive new airbase on an island Southwest of Japan that functions as essentialy an unsinkable aircraft carried and a thorn in the Chinese side. It offers a massive logistical advantage to US airpower – trippling the number of sorties the US can launch against China in the event of a conflict. The Philipines have negotiated a new lease for Subic Bay – vastly improving the US ability to support the pacific fleet.

China is struggling to become a sea power – something Russia never managed to acheive, and that typically takes a century to do.
The worlds great Sea Powers are the US the UK and Japan – and Japan is re-emerging as a Sea Power. The Japanese navy is still small, But Sea Power is more about naval traditions and knowing how to fight ships and fleets, The Japanese have not lost that knowledge. China does not have it.

India too is working to become a sea power. It faces obstacles similar to those of China. Regardless, its rise contains China.

Imperfectly That policy is one of FEW that Biden has stuck with.

      5. Xi did not threaten Trump if he went to Taiwan. ‘

Trump did not back down from threats.

Xi threatening Trump if he visited Taiwan was the most sure fire way to assure that Trump visited Taiwan.

      2. Actually, it’s not misogyny and it’s not racism.

It’s unconstitutional affirmative action, favor, and bias, and the unconstitutional denial of the right to private property.

And it’s a judicial branch and Supreme Court which fail to fulfill their sworn oaths to support the Constitution.

The right to private property is absolute or the right to private property does not exist.

If the government holds dominion, property is public.

If property is public, America is communist.

That was most certainly not the intent.

        1. No, George, you’re a bigot. You clearly revel in your bigotry, which you display daily.

      3. Undoubtedly, the “Iron Lady” would have told She Ginpink to stuff it, I do believe, but they weren’t the Founding Mothers, and someone has a natural duty to make Americans, sufficient to grow and defend the nation.

It wasn’t Amelia Earhart, First Woman on the Moon.

It was a “melting pot” of extant Europeans, not the Island of Dr. Moreau; America is being diluted out of existence as in invasion and conquest, with a fertility rate in a “death spiral.”

That circumstance has been presented as something undesired in centuries past.

America, nay, the world, anxiously awaits Round 2 – Nanny P v She Jinpink.

    3. George, did Nancy Pelosi blink because of the Chinese political threat or did she blink because so much of her money came from the Chinese?

    4. Nancy & Paul Pelosi are major shareholders in one of Taiwan’s computer chip companies. She just went there to try to protect her stock interests.

  8. Just another Fox assignment to try to water down Trump’s effort to overturn the election he lost because he couldn’t find any other way to keep the power he stole in the first place. And, BTW, he only called off his faithful minions when it became clear that Pence couldn’t be spirited away from the Capitol by the Secret Service. Pence refused to leave the Capitol loading dock or get into the limousine. Pence knew who he was dealing with and what he was capable of. Pence’s refusal to violate the Constitution was the last straw–Trump’s efforts to bully him failed, litigation failed, bullying state election officials into “finding votes” failed (but he did get some swing state fans to sign fake documents claiming to be valid electors and that their Electoral College votes went to Trump–which is a felony). As a last-ditch effort, Trump, knowing that the mob was armed and had breached the Capitol, tweeted that Pence had let them down, so, like the obedient robots they were, they went after Pence. Cassidy Hutchinson and Pat Cipollone equated this to pouring gas on a fire. The Trump Army even erected a gallows and shouted “Hang Mike Pence”. Pence got away, but only barely–rioters were a mere 40 feet away at one point, but didn’t know how close Pence was. A brave Capitol Police Officer led them away, and it’s only because they didn’t know the layout of the Capitol well enough to realize the were being led away, it allowed Pence the chance to escape. THAT’S how close America came to losing democracy to a malignant narcissist, and THAT is the big story here. They wouldn’t make the same mistakes a second time.

The gist of all of this is that if Trump and those who relied on his Big Lie to overturn the election aren’t brought to justice over this, it will become a blueprint for further wannabe dictators down the road who lose elections.. We can’t let that happen. Turley’s sad little assignment to try to make Jan 6th into something other than an effort to overturn a free and fair election is pathetic. Those people would never have gone to the Capitol but for the Big Lie. It is misleading to claim that members of Congress or Trump fans were “protesting” the election. There was nothing to “protest” because were NO valid grounds to believe that the election was anything other than free or fair. There had been 60+ failed lawsuits, multiple recounts and audits, and all sorts of investigations, all of which prove that there was NO widespread voter fraud. That remains true, but we can’t allow Trump or those who believed or promoted the Big Lie to escape responsibility for what happened.

    1. “We can’t let that happen.”

  9. Had Mike Pence been hung it would not be an insurrection. It might have stopped the vote. What’s a “riot”? What’s an “insurrection? What’s a Turleydog? What’s a riot that killed five humans? What’s a capitol building?
What’s a day at the races?

  10. Note that the Harvard study only examines the 417 people held on federal changes in the DC courts. This is a distinct minority of those attending the rally and probably even of those that made it on the capital grounds or into the building. Are we to extrapolate these percentages to the greater crowd? Can we not assume that anyone present at (or near) the rally who wanted to ignite an insurrection would have then taken the opportunity to engage in mayhem.? Then the 33 individuals (the 8%), so motivated, were it. Some day there will be an accounting of that day.

    1. Arney:

“Are we to extrapolate these percentages to the greater crowd? Can we not assume that anyone present at (or near) the rally who wanted to ignite an insurrection would have then taken the opportunity to engage in mayhem.? Then the 33 individuals (the 8%), so motivated, were it. Some day there will be an accounting of that day.”
      ***********************************
Not exactly sure of your point but the answer is no you can’t extrapolate. And thank you for A classic example of the logical fallacy known as argumentum ad ignorantiam. Since we have no proof of the assertion, then the assertion must be true. You’ve also done a nice job of the fallacy of composition arguing what is true for the few is true for the many. Another way to state it is that if Jerry Rice makes a circus catch in front of 70,000 fans and because he is 1/11th of the offensive players on the field then 1/11th of the crowd (6363) watching can make the same catch. Beautiful!

  11. Attendees of Trump rallies are well directed and controlled; well enough for national TV broadcasts, not dissimilar to a major network NFL game or Presidential speech.

Insurrection was neither the intent nor a possibility on Jan. 6th.

Arms were not borne by the feckless, rogue rioters who were well aware they would engender negative press for Real President Donald J. Trump.

The capitol police were recorded on video allowing the aberrant rioters onto the grounds and into the buildings.

Particular individuals, who were identified, encouraged and incited the rogue rally-goers to enter the Capitol as allowed by the capitol police.

The capitol riot was a false-flag operation.

The capitol police response and Nancy Pelosi’s denial of National Guard troops must be fully and thoroughly investigated by a Special Counsel.

The failures of Merrick Garland, Nancy Pelosi et al. will be discovered to have been deliberate and high criminal.

  12. Alas, a reasonable assessment of one of the mischaracterizations of the events of that day and an effort to find the middle as Jonathan often does with his commentaries. Just as many well known democrats have done in the past, certain GOP legislators were protesting the election results in at least six ‘swing’ states as part of an effort to delay the vote on the certification. They were NOT trying to overthrow the election, they were seeking an honest investigation into allegations of questionable practices in those states that could alter the results of the election. Yet another mischaracterization. The majority of those going to the Capitol that day were NOT intent on overthrowing the government (as the Harvard study found) but rather were there to support the debate in Congress over delaying the certification for two weeks while an investigation was conducted. They did NOT come to riot or overthrow the government. Yet another mischaracterization. The riot that broke out was NOT an insurrection. Yet another mischaracterization. The only person who dies that day as a result of direct violence was one of the protestors, an US Air Force veteran who was shot by a Capitol policeman. Others who died later were the result of suicide and natural causes. Statements, made by many in the media and among the democrat leader are more examples of mischaracterizations of the events of that day.
Finally, when a committee is formed in the US House to probe the events of the day and the GOP leadership is NOT permitted to assign it’s choice of members to that committee, the committee can NOT be called bi-partisan just because to anti-trump republican legislators were placed on the committee by the democratic leadership, NOT the republican leadership. Yet another mischaracterization. IMHO

    1. Most people may not have gone “to riot or overthrow the government,” but many allowed themselves to be goaded into rioting, and others who went had the explicit goal of goading into rioting the people who initially had no intent to riot, aka “normies” or “normiecons.” We know this because insurrectionists like the Proud Boys said so in advance. For example, here’s a quote from U.S. v. Charles Donohoe 21-CR-175-4 (TJK)”

Unindicted Co-Conspirator 1 [a Proud Boys member]: I want to see thousands of normies burn that city to ash today

      PERSON-2: Would be epic

UCC-1: The state is the enemy of the people

      PERSON-2: We are the people

      UCC-1: F–k yea

PERSON-3: God let it happen . . . I will settle with seeing them smash some pigs to dust

      PERSON-2: F–k these commie traitors

PERSON-3 It’s going to happen. These normiecons have no adrenaline control . . . They are like a pack of wild dogs

As for “The riot that broke out was NOT an insurrection,” the rioters were attempting to prevent the certification of the Electoral College vote and to help Trump, who’d lost the election, stay in office beyond the end of his term. If you don’t like “insurrection,” try “attempted self coup.”

      1. Such trash from one who considers himself smart.

This was a protest, not an insurrection. The vast majority of people were peaceful, and some of the rage came from the tactics used by the Capitol Police in killing protestors. There is expert testimony showing that instead of keeping the crowd peaceful, certain activities of the Capitol police enraged people in the area. They likely killed two protestors that weren’t even close to the Capitol building.

The initial vides were spliced and diced to reveal a crowd behaving badly. They made people who are prone to believe what they are told believe that J6 was more than a protest. Where were the aR-15s? When one surveys the bulk of videos that are not diced and spliced one sees the opposite. People taking selfies, and Capitol police letting people enter the Capitol. Those people were peaceful, though a few were not along with suspicious people who were not Trump supporters.

We all want to know what happened on J6. The easiest way to find out is to permit all the videos to be reviewed and have a fair investigation of what happened. Trump authorized 20,000 troops. Pelosi didn’t approve of them. A portion of the 20,000 troops could have set the boundaries in a better position and less hatred by leaders at the Capitol would have led to peace.

As it is, four protestors were killed 2 of which were murdered. The videos showing police throwing people off of ledges or attacking people on the ground with batons are appalling. Preventing those arrested from being able to see their lawyers is not the American way.

    2. Leaving aside for a minute the ridiculous assertions in the first paragraph, let’s look at this supposed “stacking the deck” by House Democrats. Only two of the five appointees were rejected, because they had both voted against the certification of the Electoral Votes on that day. I see nothing wrong with that. Contrary to the bafflegab in your opening paragraph, there was no need (and no legal basis) for any investigation. AG Barr had investigated and there were 63 court rulings against challenges to the vote in several states. I believe your definition of an “honest investigation” would likely be the Keystone Cops routine done by Trumpers in Arizona.

  13. I really like Jonathan, he usually makes very insightful posts and remarks…….but apparently, Jonathan is not as familiar with the facts re: Jan. 6 as I am. I recommend Jonathan read the FBI assessment and reports re: Jan. 6.

The confirmation process was interrupted by Trump allies who breached the Capitol and wreaked havoc, creating a diversion that consumed Capitol police resources and officers.

The storming of the Capitol was a cover for Trump allied militia members to locate the ballot boxes and destroy or steal the ballot boxes, which would have caused a delay in the electoral count process and the transfer of power.

Information exists that suggests militia members planned to ignite and burn the electoral ballot boxes wherever they found them.

These ballot boxes are filled with the electoral votes from the 50 states, and are transported to the Senate during the confirmation process at the conclusion of each election cycle.

Then the ballot boxes are opened inside the U.S. House of Representatives and the votes are counted by the Vice-President, and the winner of the election is officially declared.

Insurrectionists sought to obstruct, derail and delay the electoral count process in order to abandon the Electoral count process and instead, elect a President by House vote.

    Contingent Elections

In the case of an Electoral College deadlock or if no candidate receives the majority of votes, a “contingent election” is held.

The election of the President goes to the House of Representatives.

Each state delegation casts a single vote for one of the top three contenders from the initial election to determine a winner.

Only two Presidential elections (1800 and 1824) have been decided in the House.

There are a few more red states than blue states and by this means, the insurrectionists planned and acted to obstruct a Congressional proceeding to derail the usual electoral vote count process in favor of electing a President by state delegation vote count in the U.S. House of Representatives.

That’s why Trump and his gang wanted to “HANG MIKE PENCE” because Trump & his gang knew if they could obstruct and delay the Electoral vote count by either burning the ballot boxes or by Pence not counting the votes, the electoral process would have been abandoned in favor of electing a President by holding a state delegation vote in the U.S. House of Representatives.

On that day there were more red states in the House than blue states, and a House delegation vote would have made Donald Trump President.

Fortunately for democracy, militia members were unable to steal or destroy the electoral ballot boxes, because two female staffers had the good presence of mind to quickly carry the ballot boxes out of the Capitol to a safe, secure location unaccessible and unknowable to militia members.

TIME MAGAZINE published a story about these two female staffers whisking away the ballot boxes approximately 60 seconds prior to militia members entering the U.S. House chambers where the ballot boxes were being held.

In fact, video exists of militia members looking around in that room and yelling, “Where’s the ballot boxes? Where’s the ballot boxes?”

Those militia members were not psychic: those militia members were informed and advised of the details and physical location of the ballot boxes by someone involved with the Trump conspiracy to steal the 2020 U.S. Presidential election.

I believe those Trump conspirators to include Congresspersons, Senators and Capitol police supervisors or the Chief.

Electoral College votes (ballot boxes) are always carried to the U.S. House chamber for the Vice-President to count.

Here’s a photo of Senate aides carrying the electoral ballot boxes INTO the U.S. House for VP Pence to count:

I believe and accuse a Capitol police supervisor or chief of being part of the Trump conspiracy to steal the election on Jan. 6.

How? That afternoon on Jan. 6 Sen. Majority leader Chuck Schumer contacted Capitol police and asked him, “How long will it take for you to clear the Capitol so we can resume the electoral count?

A Capitol police supervisor told Schumer it would take a few days to search and clear the Capitol, which every Capitol police officer knows is NOT TRUE.

A subsequent and immediate argument unsued between that Capitol police supervisor and another Capitol police supervisor who argued and insisted that it would only take a couple of hours to search and clear the Capitol – not a few days.

Chuck Schumer was listening to this conversation between the two Capitol police supervisors.

The Capitol was searched and cleared of Trump insurrectionists and the electoral count process resumed, resulting in VP Mike Pence counting the unburned ballots and certifying Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 U.S. Presidential election.

    1. studioron1,

You might not have been aware but this web blog only permits two hyperlinks per comment. I edited your comment to remove the protocol from the extra links so that it would post. If you would like the readership to review more than two links, this can be accomplished by posting multiple comments of two or fewer hyperlinks each.

      1. Thank you Darren for informing me of your protocol. I will adjust accordingly.

    2. Now there’s a reason worthy of investigation. It is far more plausible than this was the plan all along. Once it became apparent that it wasn’t going to succeed everyone of those insurrectionists started covering their behinds and laying blame on Antifa and BLM.

  14. So this gang was arrested for robbing a bank, but they weren’t really after the money, they were just showing their loyalty to their capo.

    1. Why would anyone trust anything from Harvard Social Sciences.

  15. Come on Jonathan. As a constitutional scholar and an expert on American law, you know what the score is with Donald Trump. I’ve read your columns for years and I always will, but you do not want to be on the wrong side of history with this dictator wannabe.

    1. DICTATOR WANNABE EXTRAORDINAIRE

Too bad you weren’t around in 1860. Wait! What was Comrade General Secretary “Crazy Abe” Lincoln if not a brutal, despotic and tyrannical dictator? Oh, and just plain wrong. He killed one million Americans and American freedom after a mere 71 years. He denied fully constitutional secession, usurped the power of Congress to declare war, declared martial law, suspended habeas corpus, smashed printing presses, threw his opponents in prison, confiscated legal and deeded private property, and presided over the total war of Sherman’s destructive and murderous “March to the Sea” even after communist victory had been secured. American history must have taken a legal course to the elimination of slavery and followed the law on immigration, etc. Dang!

    2. Don’t worry about being on the “wrong side of history” as all you Leftists love to say. History is written by the winners. Turley wants to be a winner unlike the leftist droids I see quoting that “wrong side of history” mantra. They love losing eslewise why would they do it so every damn often.

  16. Insurrection – “an act or instance of rising in revolt, rebellion, or resistance against civil authority or an established government.”

Jonathon, you are tying yourself into a pretzel to not use this term. In their own words, they went to the capitol to prevent the certification of an election result and keep in power the man that lost.

  17. If anyone wanted to start a civil war on January 6, they would have done so. All they would have had to do would be carry a few AR-15s and shotguns to the Capitol and start shooting. NO FIREARMS OF ANY KIND were found! Nor were any explosives set off and there’s serious question regarding the claim that explosives were found at the DNC and GOP headquarters. I watched livestream that day and it was mostly people conversing with the Capitol Police while the police sprayed water and whatever on them. Video plainly shows the doors to the Capitol opening OUTWARD, which is how those doors do, which means someone inside opened them. There was only one act of violence inside the Capitol and it was by a Capitol Police officer who started shooting without provocation.

    1. Firearms were found on some people, for example, Guy Reffitt was convicted of carrying a firearm into the Capitol Complex.
Many more people were charged for using other weapons. You can search on “weapon” and “firearm” here to see them: https://www.justice.gov/usao-dc/capitol-breach-cases

What “serious question regarding the claim that explosives were found at the DNC and GOP headquarters” are you referring to? You didn’t say.

Your claim that “There was only one act of violence inside the Capitol” is BS. There were many acts of violence inside the Capitol that day, mostly committed against law enforcement by the rioters.

As for how people entered the buildings, some entered through the doors, but others didn’t. Here’s a video of some of the rioters breaking the windows of the Capitol and climbing through them to enter the building:

      1. The arrest occurred many days later. I don’t think anyone saw a gun, but if they did and the gun was illegal, he should have been arrested immediately. He did not use any such weapon and was far from the Capitol Building, never enterring it.

People were charged for using weapons, but a stick is a weapon. These charges were trumped up. No protester guns were in the Capitol building ,and I don’t know that any guns around the complex were illegal. You have lied about these things before, so we can assume everything you say now is a lie as well.

The film is interesting because there is another similar film. In that film one of the people involved in the destruction was likely from the other side. I don’t know if that was earlier in this clip and cut off, or it was in another similar clip.

“There were many acts of violence inside the Capitol that day, mostly committed against law enforcement by the rioters.”

That is funny because the only ones to die were protestors, four of them. The only one to shoot a gun in the Capitol building murdered Ashli Babbitt. There were enough suspicious people in the Capitol Building, one must assume there was an organized plot to incite Trump supporters and do violent things so they would be blamed on Trump supporters. That is one of the reasons the left is reluctant to provide all the videos in the Capitol Building.

        1. “ People were charged for using weapons, but a stick is a weapon. These charges were trumped up. No protester guns were in the Capitol building ,and I don’t know that any guns around the complex were illegal.”

These were not trumped up charges. Anything used as a weapon is vindicated weapon by federal law. There’s no way to be certain that nobody had firearms in the building since not everyone who was there was apprehended. Trump himself knew his supporters were armed when he was demanding that the metal detectors be turned off at his rally. He was acknowledging that some of his supporters were armed and weren’t there to hurt him, but others.

It’s illegal to have weapons in the complex. That’s just a fact.

These were rioters incited by trump to attack the capitol.

          1. Svelaz, the conservatives who claim to be on the side of LEOs abandon them as soon as those LEOs are attacked by Trump supporters. The LEOs’ injuries magically appeared out of thin air on J6, and the weapons used by the rioters don’t count as weapons, don’t you know?

          2. They had a cache of weapons in a Virginia motel room across the Potomac, waiting for the command from their exalted leader who promised he’d accompany them to the Capitol. That is a fact.

      2. That’s funny.

In the military when I served, the unit was conducting serious “insurrection” against an enemy to overtake and secure ground, and every man had a fully automatic 5.56, 3 hand grenades, a Claymore mine, 1 stick of C-4 plastic explosive, a bayonet/knife and a 45 caliber hand gun, with the exceptions of the platoon member who carried the M-79 grenade launcher, and the one who humped a fully automatic 7.62, belt-fed M-60 machine gun. In rear support, were 60mm and 81mm mortars.

That constituted an effective, armed “insurrection” force.

These Jan. 6, fringe goof balls were like homeless creeps with a bottle of Bali Hai; a couple had a loose connection to some sort of blunderbuss.

        You’re not even close.

        You’re a poor replication of a fraud.

You’re not even good at being bad.

        1. Gee, your commentary of the events describes the insurrections as mostly homeless bums, a few with old timey weaponry. Gosh, you lie bigger than the iDJiT himself.
