Biden’s “Bottomless Pinocchio”: Washington Post Hits the President With Rare Rebuke for Repeated False Claims

We have been discussing a series of false statements made by President Biden about election law, border agents, Second Amendment, gun capacity, and a variety of personal facts, including all of the falsehoods addressed on this blog earlier. Now, the Washington Post has awarded President Biden a “bottomless Pinocchio” for his repeating of clearly false facts — a distinction that he now shares with his predecessor former President Donald Trump.  For those in the free speech community, it is a highly ironic moment given the President’s recent defense of censorship because citizens need “editors” to tell them what is real and what is not. Indeed, he asked, if we did not censor social media, “how will people know the truth?

President Biden is arguably the most anti-free speech president since John Adams. The President often sounds like the Censor-in-Chief, including claiming that social media companies are “killing people” by not engaging in more robust censorship.

Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler listed various examples of Biden spreading false claims that have been repeatedly and publicly debunked. You draw this rare rebuke if you repeat false statements more than 20 times. That includes his claim  on meeting with the Chinese leader: “Folks, I spent a lot of time — more time with Xi Jinping than any other head of state. … I’ve traveled 17,000 miles with him.”

The Post also noted how the president claimed that he is responsible for seniors getting an increase in their Social Security checks for the first time in 10 years: “On our watch, for the first time in 10 years, seniors are going to get the biggest increase in their Social Security checks they’ve gotten.” The Post noted “the reason Social Security payments are going up is because Social Security benefits, under a law passed in 1972, are adjusted every year to keep pace with inflation.”

The President has also continued to claim that the Republicans want to end social security, which the Post has previously declared to be false.

Despite his own pattern of false statements (some might call it “disinformation”), the President seems most alarmed that a single social media platform is moving to restore free speech protections. For years, Twitter has joined companies like Facebook in barring or removing dissenting views in some of these same areas like election reforms. Biden warns that the pubic will simply not know what is true without such editing of the material that they are allowed to read.

The President could cite his own history of false statements as an example for his call for greater censorship to protect voters. Yet, despite his history as a serial spreader of disinformation, I would still oppose any effort to ban him from social media or even remove his comments.  It is false that Republicans want to end social security but others can counter such bad speech with good speech. Readers can discern what is true and false from their sources and their support. As shown by the President himself, the governing principle remains “caveat emptor,” or buyer beware.

So, would that be a “mean tweet?”

  2. Teacher Fired For Refusing Student’s Preferred Pronouns Asks Court To Restore Suit
AP: Denise Lavoie Nov 4, 2022, 05:34 PM EDT

Virginia French teacher Peter Vlaming told the Supreme Court of Virginia Friday that the school violated his constitutional right to speak freely and exercise his religion.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Lawyers for a high school French teacher who was fired after he refused to use a transgender student’s pronouns argued before the Supreme Court of Virginia Friday that the school violated his constitutional right to speak freely and exercise his religion. An attorney for the school said the teacher violated the school’s anti-discrimination policy.

Peter Vlaming sued the school board and administrators at West Point High School after he was fired in 2018. Vlaming appealed a lower court’s ruling dismissing the lawsuit and asked the Supreme Court to reinstate it.

Vlaming’s lawsuit was brought by the Alliance Defending Freedom, a conservative Christian legal advocacy group that has filed six similar lawsuits — three in Virginia, and one each in Ohio, Kansas and Indiana.

ADF attorney Christopher Schandevel told the high court that Vlaming was not fired for something he said, but “for something he couldn’t say.”

“This is a case about compelled speech,” he said.

Schandevel told the justices that Vlaming tried to accommodate the student by using his masculine name and avoiding the use of pronouns, but the student, his parents and the school told him he was required to use the student’s male pronouns.

In his lawsuit, Vlaming said he could not use the student’s pronouns because of his “sincerely held religious and philosophical” beliefs “that each person’s sex is biologically fixed and cannot be changed.” Vlaming also said he would be lying if he used the student’s pronouns.

Justice Thomas Mann pushed back against the argument that using the boy’s new name but not his pronouns would allow the teacher to avoid discriminating against him.

    “What’s the difference?” he said.

“So why is (Vlaming’s) right not to lie more important than (the student’s) right to basic education and to not be discriminated against,” Mann said.

Alan Schoenfeld, an attorney who represents the school board and school administrators, said Vlaming’s speech was part of his official teaching duties and his refusal to use the student’s pronouns clearly violated the anti-discrimination policy.

”A public school employee is not at liberty to declare he will not comply with school policy,” he said.

Justice Wesley Russell Jr. said that if Vlaming treated all students the same by using their names, “how does that discriminate?”

Schoenfeld said it’s “inevitable” that pronouns would come into play in a classroom setting. Vlaming once inadvertently referred to the student as “she” in class, but immediately apologized.

After the hearing, Vlaming said he had hoped that he and the school board could have come to an agreement.

“I can disagree with my students without provoking my students. I’m there to teach French,” he said.

The justices did not indicate when they expect to issue a ruling.

  3. Does anybody know how often the Washington Post reprimanded Trump, during the four years….( only counting this period) he told the 30, 000 plus LIES.? Because I don’t remember seeing any reprimand. It’s only Joe, who is singled out.???

    1. Does anybody know when CNN will start filling jars with colorful gumballs representing each one of Joe Biden’s lies? Has MSNBC started a ‘Biden lies’ scoreboard yet? Oh that’s right, Biden doesn’t speak to the press or the public enough for them to keep a running tally of his Big Lies. They should. Biden tells some whoppers on the rare occasion he speaks to reporters.

    2. You must be kidding. RussiaRussiaRussia was a lie invented by Hillary and abetted by FBI/CIA/Democrats, as was the Flynn lie, Ukraine etc.

  4. Ask yourself. How is it the Biden regime somehow knows that election results will be delayed for days in key states before the election is conducted?

Why is it always the same battleground states that can’t count their ballots on time? Why is it always the same places that use electronic voting machines?

How would Democrat election officials already know that they could not quickly count votes in an election that hasn’t been conducted yet?

It doesn’t take days to get election results.

    It takes days to cheat.

    1. If they know they have thousands or hundreds of thousands of mail-in ballots to count AFTER polls close, the precincts must staff up to handle the volume in order to finish the count THAT same night even if they count all night long into the wee morning hours. Staff each precinct appropriately to count the votes in timely manner. They could do this, yet they don’t. Because Democrats, as always, plan to cheat.

      1. Because Democrats, as always, plan to cheat.

AGAIN. A very simple requirement to certify the number of votes cast, with in 30 minutes of polls closing. It eliminates “found” ballotts.

      2. Dems and their corrupt fake news are trying to “normalize” results taking days or weeks – something that rarely happened to our elections before the past few years. Lots of media running the same message.

From Vox: “Several states — including key swing states — may not be called on election night. That’s normal. Here’s what to expect as you wait for election results on Tuesday evening, and later this week. #Elections2022”

It’s not “normal”. Do not let them propagandize you into believing the lies. It is how they cheat and steal elections.

  5. Update. Be afraid. According to the NYT ‘Russia Reactivates Its Trolls and Bots Ahead of Tuesday’s Midterms’ .. . and they sound suspiciously like Prof Turley!

“The posts mostly denigrated President Biden and other prominent Democrats, sometimes obscenely.” ~ Story

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/russia-reactivates-its-trolls-and-bots-ahead-of-tuesday-s-midterms/ar-AA13Nns0?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=c947038ace3342c8b72ffa48f74a4fe4

*alternative facts: “They also lamented the use of taxpayer dollars to support Ukraine in its war against invading Russian forces, depicting Ukraine’s president as a caricature straight out of Russian propaganda.” .. . but that’s not even top 5 issue driving the election.

  6. Has anyone noticed that the MSM has stopped talking about the Paul Pelosi attack. The police report says that Paul Pelosi let them into the house and said everything is fine. He then started walking toward the assailant when he was attacked. Ask yourself. If Mr. Pelosi’s head was bloody from his wounds would the police let him walk toward a guy with a hammer in his hand?. Shades of Jussie Smollett conspiracy? Things have sure gone quiet since the police report has been released. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gMpsH4knrfc

  7. Since we’re talking about Joe Biden and Pinocchio’s here’s a blast from the past. “ I never met with any of my sons business partners.” Joe thinks that if you go on Zoom with Xi you’ve flown 17,000 miles together. Joe says Zoom Zoom Zooom Zoom Zoooom. Come fly with me lets fly down to Wuhan. Come fly with me where all the bats have gone. In Wuhan land there’s a Fauci man who will toot my flute for you. Come fly with me come fly. Come fly with me come fly. Come fly with me let’s fly lets fly awaaay.

  8. Just more Turley selective attention (probably due to Fox News cutting him checks). I’m not a Biden fan but singling him out for false claims and not calling out Trump for the same is laughable.

    1. Just more Turley selective attention (probably due to Fox News cutting him checks). on the current POTUS.

You are always welcome to list the false claims made by former Presidents during this election cycle. Let’s see how fair and balanced you are.

    2. Anonymous, I am trying to think back about a time when you criticized anyone on the left. You call for a more balanced approach by Professor Turley but you display no balanced consideration of other positions yourself. You need to clean that mirror up so that you can see a clearer reflection of yourself. I know. Fat chance.

    3. Trump not in office anymore, Biden “leading” the free world…understand the difference?

  9. In Prof. Turley’s second sentence, he wrote an oxymoron. Here’s that sentence in its entirety:

Now, the Washington Post has awarded President Biden a “bottomless Pinocchio” for his repeating of clearly false facts — a distinction that he now shares with his POTUS predecessor, Donald Trump.

There’s no such thing as “false facts,” of course. I worry that Prof. Turley has been inside the Beltway for far too long. . . .

    1. Warren Miller false facts do exist. Joe Biden believes the facts in his head are the gospel truth. Therefore he believes in the false facts he believes in. Just ask him he will tell you all the false facts you want to know.

    2. Wrong… Biden tries to state facts, but unfortunately they are false, thus false facts. Capisce? No, it’s not a spelling mistake, Mr Grammar, it’s Italian!

      1. Actually, it is a spelling mistake. The Italian word is CAPISCI. Your usage is of one of several English bastardizations of the original Italian. As a grandson of Italian immigrants (via Ellis Island) I have firsthand experience of my grandfather’s utterance of the word in my direction.

    3. Mr. Miller, CPA, CFA:
      Is this an oxymoron?:

      “Gigi says:
      November 7, 2022 at 3:32 PM
It’s not a ‘conspiracy theory’ to distrust stupid, vengeful people like you who cannot even intelligently respond to facts without engaging in ad hominem attacks.”

      From yours truly,
      lin, CU2, FUN

    4. There are indeed true and false facts. Statements are either facts, statements that can be demonstrated to be false or true, or opinions that are subjective and cannot be judged as simply true or false. The problem arises when fact checkers use their opinions – provide context – to true statements because they do not support the checker’s opinion or simply ignore untruthful statements of fact because they despite their inaccuracies these statements support the checker’s opinion. Hyperbolic statements are intentionally counter factual, but may provide a discursive structure that furthers an argument. We, as English users understand this and can parse what is said even when it comes from someone like Herschel Walker who often speaks in non-standard English. He knows that for the majority of diabetics the real problem is diet. That is true and whether he knows about an insulin price mandate that has not been put into effect yet on only one portion of diabetics still, does not make him stupid.

  10. Yesterday, beautiful Clear Blue Skies, starting about 3:30 pm, visible anywhere around Tulsa Co Ok one could see the jets flying by, 2/3rds leaving no vapor trails, the other 1/3rd Spraying their Stratospheric aerosol injection toxic Crap Illegally in the US since at least the mid-1990’s. ( think Nam, 1960’s)

Stratospheric aerosol injection is their method of solar geoengineering ( solar pollution). This does introduce aerosols into the stratosphere to create a cooling , like what occurs from volcanic eruptions.

Point being that within about 30 mins later the clouds from the Com Trails blocked the sun light, dropped the temp 5-10% & ruined another nice afternoon.

Who owns what in this country?

    1. Tank you for your Courage in bringing this up…it was exactly 20 years ago I became aware of such….I’ve been asking the same question ever since.. no one knows or wants to know how to address this…..

  11. I really just want to say thank you to Professor Turley and his staff – that this space even exists is a gift. We are on the threshold of a very new era, and that we can openly discuss it is a very good thing. Thank you, all. Every res ipsa increase is a betterment for all of us.

    1. Res Ipsa Locquitur

…and the good professor allows it in the fullest of freedom.

  12. Allowing dependent parasites to vote causes the vote to be worthless.

The American Founders never intended for dependent parasites to vote.

Who, in their right mind, would take direction from dependent parasites?

  13. I am mildly surprised the Post did call Biden out.
Then again, some of his lies are some serious whoopers, like the recent SS one that even the CNN fact checker called them on it.

Still trying to make sense of the ““My legislation says there can be no more than eight bullets in a round.”

    1. @Upstate Farmer

That is what’s interesting to me – even the faithful are beginning to say no. Makes me think the Dems are going to ditch Biden in the near future. What will be the result? Full-on fascism? An attempt at scaling back with Kamala or Nancy at the helm? Do they not realize that internet videos are a thing that exists? When it comes to modern Dems, the echo chamber and reality denial are so profound either is a distinct possibility. Conscientious, registered voters: do not fall for it. Reality shows are better scripted than the Dem narrative in 2022.

      1. James,
I have seen others also seem to have turned a cold shoulder towards the Biden admin like the recent CNN fact check of the SS claim. The verbiage he used, “”That’s quite the spin,” was rather telling.
Also seen some op-eds saying Biden Harris should NOT run. And these were left leaning news outlets.

        1. They should probably let him run again…as they are just going to throw him away. Their chances of winning the presidency again are horrible, why waste an unknown when they’re going to lose anyway. Let him run. Run, Joe, run.

    2. Silly me, I thought Joe was announcing new federal regulations pertaining to use of aces in Pinochle.

  14. Since Turley wants to talk about lies–start here:

Donald Trump told dozens of lies at a pair of campaign rallies to close out the midterm election campaign.

The former president gave stump speeches Thursday in Sioux City, Iowa, where a Washington Post analysis found he gave at least 58 false or misleading statements, and he added at least 24 more falsehoods Saturday at a rally in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.

“If I say anything that’s slightly wrong,” Trump said about fact checkers, “they’ll challenge what I say.”

The Post analysis found Trump misrepresented the number of border crossings, which he incorrectly described as record-breaking and unrealistically predicted would quadruple, and made it sound like government figures for migrants caught at the border was the number who successfully entered the country.

“Biden and the radical Democrats do nothing at all to stop the death and devastation caused by this invasion into our country,” Trump told rallygoers.

Trump also exaggerated crime statistics and told inaccurate, misleading and apparently false anecdotes about crime victims, and blamed “record” crime on immigrants and insufficient support for law enforcement.

“If a policeman speaks a little bit loudly, he loses his family, he loses his house, he loses his pension,” Trump claimed. “[People’s] lives would be destroyed for the mere mention of the words law enforcement.”

The former president told a series of lies blaming his 2020 election loss on fraud, many of which he’s repeated for years and have been repeatedly debunked, and exaggerated price increases for bacon, ham, Thanksgiving turkeys and airline tickets, and he falsely warned of a coming diesel fuel shortage.

“We are a nation whose economy is collapsing into a cesspool of ruin,” Trump said in both speeches.

Trump spokesman Taylor Budowich did not dispute any specific items in the Post analysis, which was provided to the former president’s team for comment.

“The Left is failing in every way imaginable, so The Washington Post is clearly and desperately trying to run interference with some sham fact check,” Budowich said in a statement. “It’s embarrassing, but unsurprising.”

TURLEY: THESE LIES WERE TOLD TO GET VOTERS TO VOTE FOR REPUBLICANS–AND THAT IS A THREAT TO AMERICAN DEMOCRACY.

      1. I don’t click on posts from people like you because I don’t trust you not to plant a virus on my computer. It appears to be about Kathy Griffin, a comedian. But, tell me–when was Kathy Griffin ever elected to any office as a Democrat? When or where? She wasn’t, and therefore, she speaks as an individual, not as a political candidate. Trump’s lies are calculated to get people to vote Republican. Biden’s not currently running for office, and his alleged “lies” aren’t even in the same ballpark as Trump’s. Trump knows better, and so do the Republicans who continue to spread the Big Lie. You should have thought that through.

        1. Gigi with another conspiracy theory. If she clicks on my link to the Washington Post it might put a virus on her computer. How about Kamala Harris saying that the riots should continue for incitement to violence. Yep, I’m going to put a virus on her computer. They’re coming to take Gigi away ha ha. They’re coming to take her away he he. They’re coming to take her AWAY. To the person who lives in fear everything rustles.

          1. It’s not a “conspiracy theory” to distrust stupid, vengeful people like you who cannot even intelligently respond to facts without engaging in ad hominem attacks.

            1. VOTE to Overwhelm Democrat Fraud! DO NOT STAY HOME because you believe your Vote does not matter! It does!

              1. Democrats need as much time as it takes to make the votes say what they want them to. The steal is on!
                Vote to Overwhelm Democrat Fraud!
Bring your phone take a photo of your ballot. Be on the lookout for FRAUD because Democrat cheating will be happening EVERYWHERE!

                1. Voting machine algorithms are set for the steal. They will “count votes” for days until they get the result they need.

              2. The election day voter suppression ‘steal’ is on! If poll workers are telling you there is trouble with the machines, stay in line! Report it and stay in line. Democrats know the massive election day turnout that is expected to vote Republican so they are SUPPRESSING the vote by creating “voting machine malfunctioning”…..hoping people get out of line and leave without voting!

DEMS are SUPPRESSING the VOTE. Make no mistake about what they are doing today. Stay in line if you can.

    1. Yup. That says it all.
Voting for Republicans is a threat to democracy.
      Not much wiggle room there.

      1. Before now, what candidate has ever pledged to discard valid votes, even before they have been cast? Before now, what candidate has ever continued to promote the notion that election results were fraudulent after dozens of recounts, re-recounts, forensic audits and 60+ lawsuits failed for lack of evidence? Riddle me that one, if you can. What presidential candidate has ever been recorded asking a state secretary of state to “find” nonexistent votes, or continued lying about losing despite all proof to the contrary, or tried to bully the VP into refusing to acknowledge valid votes, or caused an insurrection because he is a sore loser? Name one.

        1. When has anyone considered it a fair election if a state continues counting mail-in ballots received up to four days AFTER the election? And then we wait days and weeks for a final “result”? It’s no way to restore faith in the integrity of our elections, but that is the Democrat way. Democrats cheat. Always. ALL ways.

When has anyone considered voting every which way — voting by mail, voting for months, voting by dropbox, ballot harvesting, voting without ID, etc, the Democrats’ “election season” vs “Election day” secured properly — the way to restore faith in the integrity of our elections?

          1. States wouldn’t have need to have so many mail-in ballots but for Trump’s utter incompetency in handling the pandemic. Going to crowded places back then was a threat to your health. A voter who casts his ballot by mail has no control over when it arrives. The only relevant question is: when was it mailed? The postmark tells you that, and that also is outside of the control of someone who votes by mail. And, in case you forgot, Louis DeJoy, Trump’s pick for head of the USPS ordered massive numbers of mail sorting machines to be disabled, right before Election Day, and especially in larger cities (which tend to vote Democratic) all to slow down processing of mail in ballots because there were predictions that there would be an unprecedented number of them, due to the pandemic Trump screwed up.

All polls predicted Trump would lose–even Fox’s polls. There is absolutely no evidence of widespread voter fraud. All of the claims made by Trump have been disproven, and yet, he continues to lie. His ego won’t let him accept reality, and now, he’s gotten Republican candidates to agree to reject Democrat votes based on absolutely NO evidence or proof. If you don’t see that as a threat to our American values, then you are blind.

            1. Nothing has been “disproven.”

Did you buy the lie that 2016 election was stolen? Did Russia “hack the election” stealing Hillary’s “win” in 2016?

            2. Just don’t riot too hard. Try not to burn down the small businesses in your town or city. You may need them when you get over your hate.

        2. You lie. Just like Joe Biden. Just like the media. Just like a Democrat. You lie.

    2. Gigi, we know that you are a hater of lies and yet you don’t seem to care that your high priest in the Whitehouse gets a bottomless Pinocchio’s from the Washington Post. People may start to believe that you are not really a hater of lies after all. We can see that a nerve has been struck when your go to religious scripture the Washington Post breaks your bleeding heart. Oh the pain. Oh the pain. Your world is being turned upside down before your very eyes. Buck up buttercup the ride is about to get much more bumpy.

    3. And you can keep your doctor. All politicians lie, but the truth is that Biden is worse than most.

    4. So Gigi, I appreciate your memory and your perspective. My perspective is that Trump is not on the ballot, but Biden is “leading” the free world, so I care a lot more about what he says and thinks. Surely you can understand that, right?

  15. Very few are buying thus administration’s nonsense anymore, and there are similar reactions to similar events around the globe (Iran comes to mind). I really think the era of leftist despotism is coming to an end, personally, and naturally they are going to fight like hell at the end. The future going forward from tomorrow is going to be very interesting, indeed, and not just here in the States. Everyone knows Biden is a bald faced liar, and unlike in the past, a whole lot of people actually care that he is a bald faced liar, and are seeing very clearly the party he represents. The Dems severely overplayed their hand with covid, and so much else. We are not the pea-brained plebes they presume us to be.

  16. Turley: you’ve become a neverending tool for alt-right projection. Now, its Joe Biden who is a big liar, according to you. Tell us: did Joe Biden ever stir up people to attack the Capitol because his massive ego couldn’t handle the fact that he lost an election he was predicted to lose, or did he ever try to get a VP or state Secretary of State to rig the vote counts? Did he ever steal classified documents, file a false affidavit via his lawyer claiming that all such documents were returned, and then fund-raise over the theft? Did he collude with a hostile foreign government to rig an election by supplying insider polling information used by Russian hackers to spread lies about his opponent? How many recounts, re-recounts and forensic audits have proven the Big LIe to be just that, and yet, has your employer ever done anything about this or the other lies Republican candidates put out? I don’t even know where to begin: how about the lie about Paul Pelosi and his attacker both being in their underwear when police arrived, or that there was no break-in, or that this was a homosexual liaison gone wrong, or that Democrats got DePape to attack Paul Pelosi? How many times was the Big Lie told on your employer’s network? What about the lies about Hillary Clinton, AOC, Elizabeth Warren, Katie Porter and other Democrats? You say nothing about this, but attack Joe Biden instead. What allegedly “false facts” even begin to arise to the threat to democracy that the Big Lie poses?

Has your employer ever addressed Republican election deniers who have promised to rig future elections by rejecting valid Democrat votes, all based on the Big Lie? That’s the purpose for today’s little piece of excrement, Turley: pivoting away from the true threat to democracy brought about by the Big Lie, Republican candidates who are election deniers, all for the sake of a wannabe dictator whom your employer supports, and for whom you have sold your credentials.

    1. “Turley: you’ve become a neverending tool for alt-right projection” ~ Gigi

Gigi: Your rebuttal playbook is remarkably brief. Call Turley some name and then move straight into whataboutism.

Turley’s blog succinctly covered (1) The Washington Post and fact checker Glenn Kessler (hardly alt-right), (2) forming a editorial decision to call Pres. Biden out for numerous false claims (it requires serious brain injury to deny Biden’s absolute insistence on tall tales), and (3) Turley’s defense of Biden’s free speech. How in the name of BlueAnon did you miss this?

      1. See my post above–Trump’s own spokespeople can’t refute the fact that he told dozens of lies just this past weekend–the difference between Biden and Trump being Trump LIED to get people to vote Republican.

        1. the difference between Biden and Trump being Trump LIED to get people to vote Republican.

Bwahahahahaha! I don’t hate to break it to you NutGiGi, but Republicans don’t need Trump to lie to them to vote Republican, when Biden’s lying will get Democrats and Independents to vote Republican.

        2. Democrats lie all day long. Here’s a cheat sheet to help you along:

Threat to democracy = threat to Democrat party power
          Misinformation = dissenting opinion
Most secure election = rigged to favor Democrats
Rigged election = elections won by Republicans
          Secure border = open border
          Mostly peaceful protest = violence
          Healthcare = aborting babies
          Equity = racism
Domestic terrorist = angry soccer mom
          Safe & effective = myocarditis
Bail reform = way more crime on our streets
Taking away voting rights = requiring you to prove you are who you say you are?

          1. You bought into Turley’s paid little trash piece–maybe he’ll get a bonus. If you aren’t bright enough to understand that Republican election deniers, who have pledged to flush Democrat votes based on no evidence, are a threat to democracy, then you are too stupid to vote. You don’t seem to understand that there is no such thing as an “opinion” about “facts”–there are just “facts”, and the “fact” is that Biden won, fair and square–there was no rigging, and that’s been proven Who says that the Big Lie is a lie and that 2020 was the most-secure in US history? Trump’s head of Cybersecurity–Chris Krebs, 60+ judges who threw out Trump’s lawsuits due to lack of evidence, and the certified vote totals from all states, 26 of which had Republican Secretaries of State. Because either the Governor of the Secretary of State certifies election results, Republicans are working overtime with their lie machine and hundreds of millions of dollars to get election deniers installed in these positions–all to set the stage for Trump to try to cheat once again and thwart the will of the American people. Republicans are plotting to try to impeach Joe Biden and other Democrats for no reason other than revenge and as a salve for Trump’s massive ego. If the well-financed Republican lie machine is succssful, America will degenerate into endless infighting and legislative gridlock. Valid votes can be discarded at a whim–some Republican candidates have actually promised to do this. All for the ego of a fat television performer who is hungry for power, attention, adulation and the cheering throngs of red-hat wearing dumbaxxes.

We do not have open borders–never had, and never will. Another Fox lie. What “mostly peaceful protest” are you speaking of–Jan 6th? People who don’t believe that an undeveloped fertilized egg is a “baby” aren’t killing babies by choosing abortion–they are making a healthcare choice. Your view of the situation is not binding on those who don’t share your beliefs according to our Constitution–at least before the pig cheated his way into office and appointed Federalist Society judges. Myocarditis happens all of the time, including in healthy teenagers. The COVID vaccine has been proven safe and effective in preventing serious illness and death.

            1. Was 2016 was stolen from Hillary? The 2020 election was most secure in history? Now 2022 will be so rife with fraud that AG Garland is authorizing federal monitoring/interference in our states’ elections? Dems will lose, decisively. Then they will shout tis the end of Democracy! and commence rioting in the streets. Expect leftwing violence as they send out their brownshirts.

We have open borders. Democrats lie. Abortion is not healthcare. Elections are not fraud-free. There is NO science that proves covid vaccines are safe or effective, in fact ‘science’ shows the opposite. Myocarditis is not normal in healthy young people, it does not ‘happen all the time’; it is a known side effect of the experimental covid shots. Trump won. Biden is illegitimate. J6 was a Fedsurrection. Tomorrow is the end of democracy!

        3. Biden blames high fuel costs on the oil companies accusing them of price gouging and not using drilling leases. The truth is that Biden just told us his policy is: No more drilling and no more coal! He lies every time he opens his mouth.

Biden blames all on Trump, Putin, Russia, oil companies, Republicans, etc. It’s like he is just a hapless bystander as all the bad things happening in HIS administration are the fault of everyone and everything BUT Biden’s own harmful, destructive policies. Biden is a liar.

    2. Psst, Natacha, er Gigi: the alt-right is largely a figment of your imagination. A whole lot of us posting here aren’t even registered Republicans. Your time in the sunshine is winding down. Be at peace, or don’t. Nobody is going to hurt you.

      1. Is that the best you can do James? Trump’s own people can’t refute the fact that he told dozens of lies this past weekend, all to influence people to vote Republican:

        1. Gigi–if you desire to change people’s minds, YOU need to be the one to refute Trump’s statements. Maybe you could start with how our economy isn’t collapsing into “a cesspool of ruin.” Or if finding evidence to refute that statement, skip to “exaggerated prices.” That one is easier to refute. State what Trump said were the prices and then post prices (simple act of searching grocery ads from maybe 4 different sections of the country.) I pay no attention to people, regardless of side, who do not offer evidence. Otherwise, I assume they are just mindlessly accepting what they have read or heard and trying to convince others to do the same. Can you respond?

          1. Well, how about this–according to the nonpartisan GAO, the economy grew by 2.6% just last quarter. Unemployment is at historic lows, and hundreds of thousands of new jobs were just added. What about those actual, confirmed facts? And yet, Republicans and their alt-right media claim we are either in or headed for a recession, which is not the truth. We no longer set new daily records for COVID deaths and infections. Schools, businesses, factories and restaurants are open once again for business. Those, too, are inconvenient facts, and this is all due to Biden passing the COVID Relief Act, marshalling resources to fight COVID, getting ultra-cold freezers, getting sufficient PPE, lining up people able to give vaccinations and helping support businesses recovering from shut downs due to Trump’s utter incompetence, lying about and downplaying the seriousness of COVID. Trump, if he had any leadership skills whatsoever, could have at least gotten these infrastructure measures in place instead of spending time coming up with ways to cheat to stay in office. Biden’s administration did all of these things quite well. Trump did next to nothing after Election Day 2020.

Why are prices so high and how is Biden to blame? Riddle me that one, if you can. The fact is that we are still suffering supply-chain problems brought about by Trump’s stupid trade war with China and tariffs, which only passes along the increased cost to consumers. Biden got the CHIPS Act passed that will domesticate manufacturing of chips, but that will take some time. Meanwhile, we have shortages of consumer goods and with demand outstripping supply, and that causes prices to go up. Because the country was shut down for about 2 years, people were working from home or got laid off, they weren’t taking vacations and school buses weren’t running, so demand for fuel went way down, which artificially depressed prices. Some refineries shut down and aren’t back up. When Biden turned things around so quickly, demand shot back up, but supplies haven’t kept pace. Petroleum companies are enjoying record profits and aren’t even using thousands of drilling leases on government land.. Then, there’s Putin’s war with Ukraine and sanctions against Russia, which has resulted in higher fuel prices worldwide. Grocery ads have nothing to do with any of this.

Tell me this: what is the Republican plan to address inflation? You can’t because they don’t have one. They ignore all of Trump’s stupidity and failures and blame Biden because they know that Trump supporters are immune to facts. But, they are planning to : 1. ban all abortions, after lying about it being a states’ right matter; 2. Cutting back or shutting off Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and food stamps; 3. More tax breaks for the wealthiest individuals and corporations–paid for by money that should go to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and food stamp relief; 4. Cutting down on environmental and consumer protection regulations, so more people can suffer the effects of pollution and get cheated. That is the Republican platform.

            1. “Why are prices so high and how is Biden to blame? Riddle me that one, if you can.”

The Left printing money to pay for its welfare programs. The Left handcuffing America’s energy producers, to sate its desire for control and destruction.

And who suffers miserably for the Left’s inflationary policies? — the middle class, who the Left claims to value.

        1. @Upstate Farmer

Likewise! I have switched here and there for primaries, but otherwise, always an Independent, my whole voting life. Nobody pays attention to us until they do. I have actually had people walk away from in-person conversations when I’ve told them my registration, because I could not join them in a rhetoric fest, left or right. C’est la vie. How long before the Dems start demonizing us, too, and that after courting us like lovers over the past two weeks when they ignored us like the popular kids for decades? There seems to be a bonifiable disconnect with modern liberals that other people are, in actual fact, human beings that care about their lives.

          1. James,
“How long before the Dems start demonizing us, too, and that after courting us like lovers over the past two weeks when they ignored us like the popular kids for decades?”
            That! Is an excellent question.
To which I will respond, “Go woke! Go broke (or lose the mid terms and maybe 2024)!”
How will they try to spin that? “Independents have been infiltrated by double secret, super, ultra, mega MAGA infiltrators, infiltrating their minds with mega MAGA thoughts as WE ALL KNOW THEY CANNOT POSSIBLYHAVEANIDEPENDENTTHOUGHTANDCAPABLEOFTHEIROWNANALYSISGIVENTHEIROWNEYESANDEARS!!!!!!!”

Here is a thought, Biden policies have done more to hurt my pocket book, is fighting a proxy war that no one in their right mind should want, foreign policy is a train wreck, and the go green policies are not going to deliver as they claim and we will all be colder and hungrier and paying more for it.

    3. So where are you going to riot tonight?? Try not to burn down your city. Enjoy the downfall of your hateful party.

  17. Well shiver me timbers. The Washington Post must have been taken over by the Republican Nazis. It seems that in a moment of weakness the Post let the truth slip out. Then again, they seem to be preparing for the Republicans to gain power in order to assure that the newly elected representatives of the people will give them an interview. Remember when we finally said Biden lied sir? Remember when we finally said RussiaGate was a hoax sir? Remember when we finally said the laptop is Hunter’s sir? May I please have an interview sir? Let the groveling commence.
