Could Trump Win By Losing? Sometimes ‘Nothing’ is ‘a Real Cool Hand’

Below is my column in the Hill on why Trump’s future may come down to the calendar rather than the evidence. This could get pretty twisted in the election season.

Here is the column:

Donald Trump was back in all caps this week, denouncing prosecutors, warning of “death and destruction” if he is arrested, and even posting a picture wielding a baseball bat menacingly near a headshot of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

After each tirade, many of us denounced the inflammatory rhetoric while others insisted the former president was becoming unhinged at the prospect of being arrested. As if to speed along that decline, others posted viral fake AI-generated pictures showing Trump being arrested. Then Trump shared his own AI-generated photo of praying.

The fact is that Trump is in his element: In the land of rage, the most enraged man is king.

If you surf cable shows, you will see pundits in virtual ecstasy as they prepare for the possibility of a Trump mug shot or perp walk. The level of excitement could prompt Pornhub to do its first live courthouse feed.

The end-is-near predictions may be more of a fetish than a fact, however. A new Harvard/Harris poll shows 59 percent of Americans think the indictment is politically motivated, and 67 percent think the Trump payment in question was a personal expense.

Some liberal legal analysts have denounced Attorney General Merrick Garland for not expediting criminal charges against Trump with “the 2024 election cycle” in mind. If that is the measure, Trump just might have a winning hand — regardless of what occurs in these cases.

Many analysts have already addressed the dubious legal basis of the reported Manhattan indictment. The Georgia investigation into election violations is stronger, but that is not saying much; absent new evidence, the case appears to rest on highly challengeable elements.

Then there is the most compelling threat to Trump — the special counsel investigation into documents he held at Mar-a-Lago. While the Jan. 6 part of the investigation looks like another dead letter, absent new evidence; however, the classified document controversy involves well-established claims of obstruction, and not just possession of classified material.

In the meantime, Trump is doing what he does best: bringing out the worst in people.

After Bragg previously stopped the effort to pursue Trump, two prosecutors in his offices — Carey R. Dunne and Mark F. Pomerantz — resigned in protest and fueled a public campaign to force Bragg to indict.

In Georgia, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis rode a wave of election support in pledging to get Trump. Then Emily Kohrs, the forewoman of a special grand jury convened by Willis, went public in a series of bizarre interviews on CNN and NBC, literally giggling in excitement about nailing Trump.

If Bragg made the New York proceedings look openly political, Willis and Kohrs made the Georgia proceedings look openly comical.

In Washington, the Justice Department is dealing with the mess created by President Biden, who publicly expressed revulsion at the very thought of Trump possessing classified documents at Mar-a-Lago: “How that could possibly happen. How one, anyone, could be that irresponsible.” That was before Biden was found to have classified documents going back more than a decade in various locations, including his garage in Delaware.

In the end, the calendar rather than the crimes may determine Trump’s future.

None of these cases is likely to be fully prosecuted before the 2024 presidential election, assuming they survive expected challenges. And even if Trump is convicted, that would not be a barrier to taking office. The Constitution limits qualification for the presidency to being at least 35 years old, a natural-born citizen, and a U.S. resident for at least 14 years.

Trump is unlikely to see the inside of a prison before the election. Even after the election, courts likely would allow appeals to be exhausted before ordering the arrest of a sitting president — and those appeals could take years.

On the federal charge, special counsel Jack Smith would have to finish his grand jury investigation and then convince Attorney General Garland to green-light criminal charges. He then may need to bring an indictment before the end of summer 2024, since Justice Department policy discourages filings that might affect an election. For the presidential election, that period would likely extend to August 2024.

If Smith cannot indict Trump before then, he would run into another long-standing Justice Department policy. The department has long maintained (in my view, incorrectly) that a sitting president cannot be indicted.

If Smith secured a conviction before the election, Trump could still stay on the ballot. Indeed, even if he were jailed, he still could be elected president. After all, Eugene Debs ran for president in 1920 on the Socialist ticket despite being in prison for violating the Espionage Act.

Trump literally could run on a promise to self-pardon and then immediately negate any conviction. Indeed, that issue may prove the ultimate anti-establishment rallying point for him. Trump won in 2016 in part because many of his voters wanted to stick it to the media and political elites. So, a charge or conviction before the election could well turn that anti-establishment wave into a tsunami.

Of course, Trump could not pardon himself on a state conviction. Moreover, Georgia is one of only three states that do not give pardon authority to the governor; that authority rests with Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles. (Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, a Republican who has long been a target of Trump’s ire, may feel relieved to have his authority limited in this instance.) However, the state could push for changes to negate a conviction or prevent enforcement against a sitting president.

To most people, that may seem like an utter mess. For Donald Trump, it is an opportunity. Trump has always found advantage in chaos. That is why, if much of the public continues to view these legal cases as political prosecutions, Democrats may be handing Trump a winning hand.

A Washington Post columnist previously declared that Trump has nothing to offer in defense to federal charges. That may or may not be true, but “nothing” could prove a major “something” in an election year.

In the film, “Cool Hand Luke,” fellow prisoners asked Paul Newman’s character why he would continually raise the stakes in a poker game when he was holding nothing of value. His reply: “Sometimes nothing can be a real cool hand.”

  1. Is DA Bragg is getting orders from DNC, Biden & DOJ through back channels?

        1. Because money is fungible, one can donate so it is difficult to trace the origin. In the past people dismissed the fact Soros was funding various anti-American groups. Eventually, it was shown he was.

        2. Soros donated $1,000,000.00 to a PAC that supported Soros. Therefore Soros help fund Bragg’s campaign.

        3. “Soros did not donate to Bragg.”

If you’re typing, you must be lying.

(I would provide the sources, again, but you’re immune to them.)

    1. “Is DA Bragg is getting orders from DNC . . .”

There’s an old expression that explains Bragg’s motivations: “more of a royalist than the king.”

Bragg is a local, power-lusting sycophant trying to impress Leftist “kings.”

  2. “In the meantime, Trump is doing what he does best: bringing out the worst in people.”

I disagree. Trump reveals the real people behind the masks.

    1. S. Meyer—-exactly. Reminds me of this famous quote:
Harry S. Truman — ‘I never did give them hell. I just told the truth, and they thought it was hell.’

  3. Trump is not a collection of policy positions that can be grafted onto another candidate. He is a man with a massive will to win against enemies foreign and domestic. He has the courage to face incoming fire, the courage to return fire times ten, and the courage to persevere. Most importantly, virtually all of Trump’s actions are guided by what will help working-class Americans, whether on immigration, trade, taxes, corporate bailouts, or foreign wars. Go Trump.

    1. King: Trump is someone with a massive body mass and even more massive ego, determined to be the center of attention, who will lie, cheat, steal, do anything to get what he wants, including raping a woman or grabbing them by their genitals and then bragging about getting away with it. He has nothing even sounding in altrusim, ethics, integrity or patriotism. He calls our service men and women “suckers” and “losers”, and no one with the name “Trump” has ever served our country. The pig is a coward–he dodged the draft by faking bone spurs that never kept him off the golf course. I don’t know how many drugs you take or how much you have to be paid to claim that the slob you wrote about is motivated to “help working class Americans”. Help them to do what? We had to shut down for about 2 years because he had no clue about how to handle the pandemic and so he lied about the seriousness and downplayed it because it made him look bad. He started a trade war with China that resulted in inflation due to shortages of consumer goods and computer chips, which helped drive inflation. He caused the worst recession since the Great Depression with his utter incompetence, which isn’t too surprising, given his 6 bankruptcies. He couldn’t even run a casino successfully. Most Americans never did, and never will, vote for this loser. Why won’t he just shut up, go away, and let the leader the majority of Americans chose do the job we elected him to do in peace without his interference? The answer is Trump’s massive ego–he just can’t let go. He just can’t stop lying. Then, there’s the insurrection. How do you defend the 187 minutes of silence while he basked in the glory of his power over his disciples while they hunted the VP with the intention of lynching him? Spin that away, if you can.

    2. During his first term in the White House, in the face of constant attacks from the left and his own party, Donald Trump achieved gasoline prices under $2 a gallon, record low unemployment, inflation at 2%, rising real wages for working-class Americans, a dramatic reduction in illegal immigration, the end of NAFTA, better trade agreements with Mexico and Canada, higher tariffs on products from Communist China, lower taxes on American corporations and small businesses, reduced regulation of American manufacturing and energy production, withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement, American energy independence, a significant increase in American military spending, a significant increase in military spending by the other NATO allies, the creation of the United States Space Force, no new wars, reduced missile testing by North Korea, cancellation of the Obama nuclear weapons agreement with Iran, recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, the brokering of historic trade agreements between Israel and its Arab neighbors, restoration of quality medical care for veterans at the VA, a ban on openly transgender people from serving in the military, elimination of the Obamacare mandate to buy health insurance, the right of terminally ill patients to try experimental drugs, a ban on critical race theory in the federal government, the appointment of more than 240 federal judges who believe in following the Constitution, the appointment of three Supreme Court justices who believe in following the Constitution, and a welcoming environment in the Republican Party for good and decent Americans of all races and classes. Seventeen months after Trump left office, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade with a 6-3 vote. Go Trump.

      1. Donald Trump “achieved” nothing–he inherited a booming economy resurrected by Barak Obama from the ashes of Bush, which included the energy independence, unemployment and inflation rates for which Obama deserves credit, not the pig. Biden is the one who achieved record low unemployment. Here’s something Trump never understood, and you don’t either: the tariffs imposed on Chinese goods gets passed along to the American consumer as higher prices, and the tariffs created were shortages, too, of consumer goods, but especially computer chips, which has helped drive inflation. Deregulation will cause pollution and consumer abuses. The Paris climate agreement was a good thing, as was the Iran nuclear deal–now we can’t monitor what Iran does–how is that a good thing? The pig didn’t “create” any Space Force. Trump moved our embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem to get campaign donations from wealthy American Jews–explain how the millions of our tax dollars spent to do this helps the average American, if you can. It was an “in-your-face” gesture to the Palestinians–what do we have against them? Nothing. But, Trump wants those donations from wealthy Jews, even though he is a proven anti-Semite. The “Abraham Accords” are nothing—formalization of trade agreements between Israel, UAE and Bahrain that were already happening–this was a PR move to try to make Trump sound successful. You continue to repeat the phony talking points. The “judges” you claim “follow the Constitution” do just the opposite. Republicans are all too aware of the fact that they continue to lose the support of the majority of Americans, so they pushed onto our federal courts as many radical right wingers as they can with lifetime appointments–so they can continue to wield influence over the law even though they represent less than 40% of the American population. The 3 SCOTUS judges overturned a right found to exist under the Constitution and which stood for 50 years-something that has never happened before. Obama was deprived of his nominee, and Alito. Gorsuch, Barrett and Kavanaugh all lied about their position on abortion rights just to get onto the bench. Most Americans support a woman’s right to choose.

Yea “Go Trump”–GO AWAY, Trump–we voted you out and don’t want you back.

        1. Biden inherited a covid response plan, a rebounding economy…and peace. Biden promptly delivered crushing inflation, empty shelves, a return to endless war, reckless spending, a banking crisis. Biden remains unpopular with the public (as are his wife and his VP) even with a friendly complicit media. His rhetoric (semi-fascists, pandemic of the unvaccinated) is divisive and dangerous. His approval numbers get worse and worse as he creates disaster after disaster, turns his back on media questions, eats ice cream, sniffs babies, takes long weekends out of DC, out of sight, every week. The Biden regime’s ramming of ‘equity,’ identity politics, race, sexualization down America’s throats with cult-like obsession, freaks at the helm, and bizarre policies that the country rejects — including Democrat voters. Biden’s corruption, bribes and lies are finally being revealed after voters were deceieved and lied to all during the election cycle by Biden himself, the FBI, intel officials, corrupt media, big tech, and ‘fact’ checkers. And the ‘hits’ just keep on coming from the disaster that is the Biden regime.

    3. “. . . the courage to return fire times ten . . .”

      Well said.

It is that *virtue*, the virtue of self-esteem, that establishment DC and the MSM most detests. They are honestly shocked: Doesn’t he realize how this works? We flog him. He suffers silently. Then asks for more flogging. Other R politicians understand this. Why doesn’t he?

  4. Political prosecutors like Bragg, Willis and James bring to mind a quote from As Man for All Seasons:
“This country is planted thick with laws, from coast to coast. Men’s laws, not God’s. And if you cut them down, and you’re just the man to do it, do think you could stay upright in the winds that would blow then? I would give the Devil the benefit of the laws to protect myself.”

    1. I do enjoy that quote.
The left cant see past the next 5 minutes. Never thinking, they themselves would be stipped of the very protections they set about to eliminate

  5. President Trumps popularity = what the majority of Americans feel about the state of the country. He’s been hammered relentlessly from the day he was elected, what do they fear? If you and your party can do better then his administration did for the majority of Americans then just do it already!

    1. Trump was denounced, judged, and labeled from the day he announced his candidacy, and America has been plagued by recurring nationwide insurrections throughout.

    2. The pig never drew even a 50% approval rating in 4 years’ time, which is a record in presidential polling. No one was “hammering” the hog, either–whining about being a victim is his MO. He’s incompetent, unfit for office, both because he has no values, other that self-aggrandizement and attention-seeking, and mostly because he is NO leader. The rest of the world find him loud, boring, and arrogant. The pig took the successful economy inherited from our first black president and turned it into the worst recession since the Great Depression, all due to incompetence and his arrogant inability to defer to scientists. Biden turned all of that around, got COVID under control, got our economy back on track, mended our relations with EU and NATO allies, passed the Chips Act, Infrastructure Act, COVID Relief Act, Veterans Act, and set a record for job creation. He is “doing it already”–anyone who tells you differently is lying.

  6. Trump punches back…”HOW DARE HE!”, shriek media/Democrats(but I repeat myself), never-Trumpers, and RINOS. That’s not rage except on the latter’s part.

  7. “J6 is one of the worst seditious acts in U.S. history.

The real traitors are the ones who orchestrated it and deliberately allowed it to happen.

It is the FBI’s job to stop extremists from carrying out an alleged seditious conspiracy. Not to allow it to happen.

It is the Capitol Police’s job to secure the Capitol building, especially during a Congressional session. Not to let protesters into the building while a riot is going on. Or to lead a protester dressed like a “shaman” to the Senate chamber to allow him to deliver a manifesto.

It is the D.C. Mayor’s job to ensure the capitol is safe, particularly during a chance of mass protest or riot. Not to ignore reports that as many as 3 million people could attend a rally and reject calls for more National Guard troops.

It is the Speaker of the House’s job to ensure there is sufficient security around the Congressional building during the Electoral College session. Not to ignore warnings from the Capitol Police Chief and to fail calling for more security.

All of these organizations and officials failed to do their jobs in a coordinated effort to frame Donald Trump and his supporters for inciting a riot, which was planned months in advance by extremist groups.

Indeed, in May 2020, a Time report revealed, a “shadow cabal” of leftist groups, unions, and corporations had prepared the narrative that Trump would “incite” a riot during the Electoral College session.

Intel agencies and law enforcement knew a Capitol Riot was brewing months in advance. They deliberately let it happen to “get Trump.”

No wonder they don’t want to release the other 14,000 hours of J6 footage.

They all knew. Even worse, there is now clear evidence on video that shows that Capitol Police officers opened doors for protesters and undercover police officers cheered on the “insurrection.”

This is as damning evidence as it gets for showing that the J6 riots was a manufactured crisis to ensure a President of the United States would never become elected to the nation’s highest office again.”

    1. Capitol Hill fire. Pelosi was pleased, Schumer beamed with pride, Democrats and well-wishers held a parade.

  8. Trump is more likely to be convicted by his own Big Mouth. A lot of people out there are dealing with Adrenalin overload and exhaustion and other people in the Republican fold can pursue a campaign of competence and accomplishment. The aggrieved politician is wearing thin. Like all politicians, he needs a platform and so far I have not seen one. Note the almost total lack of cheering or clapping in Waco when he he went after Ron Desantis. I think there is a message there. Are the people at these rallies really there to cheer him on or to get souvenirs from a farewell tour. I think it may dawn on people that Republicans need an individual who can deliver a systematic breakup of the power structure in D.C. not an old and faltering bull who can damage friend and foe alike as he runs amok. At least I hope so. It’s a long time till 11/2024 and lots of swamps and land mines are out there. Who is more likely to get through the land mines? Someone focused on a goal as he navigates a circuitous route through danger or a rampaging tank moving through a field strewn with anti personnel mines but completely misses the anti-tank mine that ends everything.

    1. LOL. Yeah, if it is true Rove is advising DeSantis and/or the Bushes have anything to do with him, he’s toast and Trump will destroy him. However, if DeSantis survives and the former is true, there will a a bolstering of the systemic morass we are in not a dismantling of it, which wee need.

To characterize Trump as anything other than a threat to the systemic BS in DC is laughable. Almost as funny as asserting he isn’t popular.

      1. Karl Rove accidentally slipped on Fox speaking of the DeSantis campaign as “our campaign” and quickly corrected himself.
Desantis is their guy. But he’s stumbling out of the gate.
        Trump nicknamed him DeSanctimonious.
Funny to watch it become clear why Trump named him DeSanctimonious. The name fits.

    2. “Like all politicians, he needs a platform and so far I have not seen one. “

Trumps platform is clear. All one has to do is look at what he did and was doing when he was President.
      The Southern border.
      No war
      Smart foreign policy benefiting America
      Reduction of regulations
      Tax reduction.
Economic growth with plans that stimulate it
      A China policy
      Respect for the law.
      Etc.

I cannot see why what is clearly there is not seen.

    3. ” Note the almost total lack of cheering or clapping in Waco when he he went after Ron Desantis.”

GEB, I am a Trump and Ron DeSantis supporter. Both are great. Trump is an outsider, something we require. DeSantis is a thinker, willing to buck PC, and has been proven right most of the time. Engaging in support of one over the other is doing the bidding of the left. Both are strong candidates and whatever hatred sent Trump’s way will be sent to DeSantis.

It is not the man that the left and MSM deal with. It is leftism. Destroy the opposition with lies and hate. Destroy the nation as it is with lies and hates. We should not involve ourselves in helping one candidate or the others by doing the bidding of the left.

I am at many events with DeSantis, Trump, and others. The people at those events firmly support their candidate. The cheers are not for a Trump farewell tour. They are legitimate and stronger in the Trump camp than in the DeSantis camp. However, I note a foolish presently insignificant trend of taking sides against the other candidate.

I think Trump makes a mistake by attacking De Santis because that is an irritant. I hope he and all Republicans stop the back-biting of other Republican candidates. In his first Presidency Trump showed the way and exposed the left which is now using everything they have to kill Trump so they can start working on DeSantis. I suggest you and no one else help the left in that endeavor. We need as much support as we can get to end the tyranny of the left that has gone the way of the CCP.

  9. Everything related to Trump is related to the unconstitutional electoral process we call “The Electoral College”, and we also have a real problem with the unconstitutional roles and responsibilities bestowed on the President once elected.

There are absolutely no competitive partisan electoral processes established anywhere in the Constitution of the United States, in fact you cannot run for President, Vice President, or Senator, and running to be a representative is futile, because the requirement is that the composition of the Most Numerous Legislative Branch must be an exact representation of the population, forming The People in their Collective Capacity, meaning that if the electoral process that is established in each State’s own Constitution to form the Most Numerous Legislative Branch does not form an exact representation of the population, then that electoral process must be disqualified.

We can’t even make Federal Election Laws, because the Constitution of the United States supersedes any law that can be made by congress, which must be made by a properly assembled congress, and you cannot amend or interpret the Constitution by congressional statute.

Now I understand that worded problems give the majority of the people difficulties, but the exact process for assembling Congress is established in Article 1 Section 2 and Article 1 Section 3 of the Constitution of the United States and there is absolutely no reason to alter those processes. The same is true for electing the President and Vice President which is established in Article 2 Section 1 and the 12th Amendment of the Constitution of the United States, and again there is no reason to alter that process as established.

Face it, no one can run for President in the United States, if you think you can then cite the requirements as established by the Constitution of the United States, and be careful, the requirements as established in Article 2 Section 1 govern the electors choices, they are not requirements to run for President.

Here again we find ourselves in a situation where if we followed the instructions we wouldn’t have all this political nonsense we have going on today, with both parties. The United States is not a partisan governing system, and a partisan governing system is not a democracy or a Republican Form of Government, which is guaranteed by Article 4 Section 4 of the Constitution of the United States. And if you don’t know what constitutes a Republican Form of Government, then you can not possibly understand that requirement.

But I already know, there will be a plethora of excuses for not following the Constitution of the United States, and a lot of so called experts that try to spin the Constitution to fit what we are doing today in contradiction to the Constitution. But why have the Constitution of the United States is we are not going to use it for its intended purpose, to assemble and operate congress as a legislative assembly of the States as the Union!

  10. Turley is getting ahead of himself with these predictions. Right now Smith successfully proved a crime-fraud exception to pierce the attorney client privilege between Even Corcoran and Trump. The evidence presented must have been overwhelming given how quickly the appeals court ruled on the matter. Turley left out that important piece of information which may be a sign that an indictment in the classified documents case may be much sooner than he predicts.

In the NY case Turley has been ignoring a great deal. Trump’s not so veiled threats that have been taken literally by his own supporters and Jim Jordan’s foolish attempts at intervening in the investigation by making demands that are clearly illegal. That shows a level of panic over the idea of being indicted. Trump really is scared of being shown in handcuffs.

While it is true that Trump can still run from prison. I don’t see how he can become president after being found guilty of a felony which would be an impeachable offense. He could face the prospect of being impeached a third time and be removed from office since the senate is controlled by the democrats. Republicans would be in a very difficult position where they would have to decide whether to issue articles of impeachment or not. As for Trump self pardoning, that would be a question for the Supreme Court to clarify. Trump wouldn’t be able to self pardon if Georgia found Trump guilty.

  11. “Trump is doing what he does best: bringing out the worst in people.” (JT)

That should read — Trump is doing what he does best: Bringing out the *best* in people.

Unleashing America’s energy producers allows some of our best to flourish. $2/gallon gas allows consumers to do their best with their money.

Low inflation is the best thing for an economy. (Biden’s high inflation is the worst thing.)

Valuing and defending America brings out the best in Americans — pride.

Refusing to kowtow to The Swamp and the MSM brings out the best in Americans — self-confidence and self-esteem.

Standing tall to foreign tyrants allows the military to do its best — defending Americans from foreign criminals.

Openly rejecting the racism of “diversity” and the insanity of Woke policies unleashes America’s best premise — individualism.

(And that’s just a partial list.)

    1. “ That should read — Trump is doing what he does best: Bringing out the *best* in people.”

Really? Trump supporters are sending death threats and envelopes with white powder to the NY DA after his ranting diatribes.

      1. Really? Trump supporters are sending death threats and envelopes with white powder

No its a false flag operation. The FBI is the one running the group that is acting illegaly. Just like the FBI is running the Proud Boys and the Whitmer kidnappers.

        1. Ooohh a false flag operation. Isn’t that what nut jobs say when the truth can’t be disputed? Trump is becoming more violent with his rhetoric and portrayals of the DA. His own lawyer in the NY case is a moron and keeps talking to reporters making things worse for Trump. Looks like another lawyer will lose their credibility because they worked for Trump.

          1. “Trump is doing what he does best: Bringing out the *best* in people.”

This represents the height of stupidity. No one knows who sent the envelope. For all we know it could have been Bragg though I am not suggesting that as a possibility.

            1. Anonymous………….Karl Rove once bugged his own Austin office and said the Democrats did it.
Nothing shocks me when it comes to politics. (Also, my grandfather worked for Huey Long)

      2. You should be flattered, Svelaz. Some mindless jerks are copying the violence of the left.

    2. The executive branch of the federal government has little control over inflation once inflation hits the economy. And, no, President Biden didn’t cause inflation. Inflation is a global issue and no one person can cause global inflation.

      1. “The executive branch of the federal government has little control over inflation once inflation hits the economy.”

        You’re delusional.

Government spending, which has skyrocketed under Biden, both causes and exacerbates inflation. Just as there is no such thing as a free lunch, so there’s no such thing as free money.

        “Inflation is a global issue . . .”

Right. The Left in America didn’t cause it. France didn’t cause it. Neither did Britain, India, Italy, . . . Inflation’s just here, somehow. Maybe spontaneous combustion.

        1. Sam,
I do not disagree with your overall assessment, might of occurred under Biden, but it was the Fed who cranked up the printing press and injected billions of dollars out of thin air into the economy.
Due to the US dollar being the global reserve currency, not only when the Fed cranks up the printing press hurts Americans, but all those who have to hold dollars.
And they are getting tired of it.
There is a reason some 14 countries are applying for BRICS membership, and are looking for alternatives to the USD.
Recently, the Saudis have said they would be open to accepting other currencies for oil.

          1. The USD is no longer ‘good as gold.’
Panera Bread is beta testing biometrics –paying with the palm of your hand.
The Great Reset is moving full speed ahead.
Trump and a strong U.S. stand in their way.

            1. “Stop listening to anyone who tells you the Biden regime is stupid or incompetent or confused.

They’re communists who are destabilizing America on purpose to usher in one world government.

The Biden regime will try to hand over American sovereignty to the WHO in May by illegally signing a treaty allowing WHO to set America’s “future pandemic response” policies.

This unconstitutional act must be stopped by Congress and the Supreme Court.” @emeraldrobinson

How real is this threat to our republic? Sen. Risch (Idaho) has publicly warned the American public about the Biden regime’s plan:

              https://www.risch.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/editorials?ID=CA7F3833-C1E6-4DEE-9F22-13DD03D15B3E

            2. “The Biden regime will try to end America’s republic by signing the WHO pandemic treaty. Get ready for: lockdowns, forced vaccines & quarantines & mandatory vaccine passports. It’s the start of a global dictatorship run by China.

What they want to do in 2023:

Biden signs illegal treaty granting “pandemic” control to WHO (run by China).

A new pandemic will be announced.

WHO will demand lockdowns & vaccine passports in the West.

The USA will be a tyranny under emergency law.

That’s why former CDC director Dr. Robert Redfield has been telling us “bird flu” will be the next plandemic for over a year.” @emeraldrobinson

              [Apr 9, 2022
Former CDC Director Robert Redfield has stated that Bird Flu will jump to humans and be highly fatal in the coming “Great Pandemic,” for which C19 was a mere warm-up.]

“It’s the *food* they are coming after and we should heed the warning.”

          2. “[I]t was the Fed who cranked up the printing press . . .”

That is true, which is why I did not say that government spending is the *only* cause of inflation.

There are only two ways to pay for a government’s profligate spending: Taxes or fiat money. The Left has chosen both poisons.

            The Fed/government spending con game:

The Fed creates fiat money (via low interest rates). Financial institutions (e.g., banks) borrow that fiat money. They then use that fiat money to buy, e.g., government T-bills and bonds. The federal government then uses that fiat money to “pay” for its profligate spending. Which then makes the economy awash in fiat money.

Like all incestuous relationships, this one spawns a monstrosity.

            1. Economics is very simple.

We can only consume what we produce.

              The economy is very complex.

Money is a lubricant for the economy. It is not the economy itself.
Without money the friction in the economy is too great and the engine of the economy runs poorly if at all.

But ever more lubricant does not make an engine run better, and may make it run worse.

        2. If one wants an example of what happens when governments simply print money just look to the Weimar Republic in the 1920s where they tried to spend their way out of their problems. A loaf of bread cost almost a million Reichsbanknotes.

      2. Wally, stupidity is not limited to the Democrats in the US.

        You prove that.

    3. Sam,
      Good points.
However one thing Democrats cannot seem to grasp is American’s see the double standards of the DC swamp, and are tired of it. Democrats only think “get Trump!” is a good strategy when it appears to be making him more popular.
Read another article showing American’s of Asian background are leaving the Democrat party over woke issues. Some Hispanics too.

    4. “Trump is doing what he does best: Bringing out the *best* in people.”

      Very insightful, Sam

  12. I put nothing past the hatred that people like Jack Smith and Merrick Garland have for anything positive for Trump. They have their marching orders from those who have compromised them, and they will do as they are told.

  13. In today’s propaganda piece Turley recognizes Trump would win a Republican primary and fantasizes about him winning a general election, takes an obligatory shot at Biden and then gushes about how cool he thinks Trump is.

Through his attempts to fan the rage Trump generates, Turley, yet again, mocks the Constitution he professes to support.

    1. Turley, yet again, mocks the Constitution

you got confused, you obviously meant to type, Biden.

Turley always defends the Constitution. The left is, in the words of Obama, see the constitution and a problem to solve in advancing their agenda. Much like FDR.

Win the debate in public and you get your way. But you cant. Thats why the Democrats have created all these federally funded agencies to censor ideas, they cannot counter, with their ideas, in order to win over the people.

      1. Iowan2,
        Well said.
Anyone with a degree of common sense look and see what the Democrat’s are pushing and say,
        “What is wrong with you?”

      2. Or the Dems could amend the Constitution to what they want. Oh wait, Article V gets in the way:

        “Article V

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress;…”

The Dems can’t get two-thirds of “both houses” nor “two-thirds of the several States,” or ratification by “three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof.”

That’s why they want liberal Supreme Court justices so they can just “interpret” new meaning to the Constitution through the “living document” line of reasoning, thus by passing Article V requirements, supra, thus the changes they need out of whole cloth.

        The Framers weren’t stupid.

    2. ATS, you are left with dissing Turley or picking up Svelaz’s scraps. That is not much of a claim to fame. You are at a loss since Twitter became open to alternative views and the truth about the left has been unleashed.

  14. Kindergarteners instinctively understand the merits of equal protection under the law. Democrat prosecutors, not so much,

  15. “In the meantime, Trump is doing what he does best: bringing out the worst in people.”

LOL — There’s no doubt that Trump brings out the worst of the worst in Turley. There’s a LONG history of Turley hating and misreading Trump, dating back to Turley’s hooking up with Michael Avenatti to disparage Trump in the days preceding Avenatti being shipped off to prison as a convicted multiple felon. You won’t find a word about Avenatti’s then-ongoing felonies in Turley’s articles praising Avenatti while disparaging Trump — although there IS mention of Avenatti’s crimes in Turley’s comment section back then, thus bearing witness to well-known circumstances ignored by Turley.

Given his history of extremely poor judgment related to hating Trump while partnering with and praising a multiple felon who was Trump’s arch enemy jurt before he was shipped off to prison, Turley should (but wont) disqualify himself as a judge of Trump. Fox and the NY Post don’t pay him to have an unbiased opinion about Trump. That’s NOT what anti-Trump Murdoch media pays for.

    1. LOL — There’s no doubt that Trump Turley brings out the worst of the worst in Turley.

      FTFY

  16. As I have stated on this blog before more than once, I dont want either Trump or Biden running in 2024.
    But here we are.
Lots can happen between now and then.
Regardless of who the GOP candidate is, I have to vote for them.
Until the Democrat party regains some degree of sense, I will not vote for extreme left wokeism.

  17. Donald Trump was back in all caps this week…

    Wash, Rinse, Spin, repeat

  18. let me know when some DOJ or FBI official or anyone from Obama or Hillary down go to PRISON for the Russian Hoax…the biggest CRIME in American History? Or how about the Bidens…all of them…go to Prison for their years of Bribery and corruption?
The DOJ and FBI are 100% Corrupt! Every three letter USA department is 100% corrupt for Democrats
The USA is a FASCIST state with Democrats using Banking, Education, government, law enforcement, healthcare, Tech, Media, business, Etc to Destroy opponents. Democrats are fighting THEIR 2nd Civil War….and people aren’t fighting back…this isn’t politics…this a WAR!

  19. A well known Aeronautical Engineer, Test Pilot, and Inventor once stated “The harder you have to work to prove you do not have a problem tells how big a problem you have.”.

Bragg is learning how true that is….as does the prosecutor in Georgia….and the Special Counsel doing the documents case are learning.

Perhaps the problem might be as simple as allowing emotion and politics guide t heir decisions rather than the law and commonsense.
