Res Ipsa Hits 71,000,000

crowd vj dayYesterday, Res Ipsa passed the 71,000,000 mark in views on the blog.  We have used these moments to give thanks for our many regular readers around the world and share our traffic data to give you an idea of the current profile of readers around the world. We do not have a running data page so these periodic postings allow our community to see the traffic profile of our blog. While I suggested that we might want to do these updates in 5 million increments, I heard from readers who said that they like to see the traffic numbers more regularly. So let’s get at it.

As always, I want to offer special thanks for Darren Smith, who has continued to help manage the blog and help out folks who encounter posting problems.  I also want to thank our editor Kristin Oren, who continues her amazing work proofing posts on a daily basis to remove my embarrassing typos. I also wish to thank Hartwell Harrison for his effort to catch errors as well as others who alert me to typos or any violations of the civility or copyright policies on the blog.

We have continued to post significantly higher traffic numbers every month. Last month, we posted a 40% increase from the prior year, which itself set a record. It was also the second highest traffic of any month in the history of the blog (narrowly losing to December 2022). This month is on track to set another record for May and potentially could be the best month in our history.

So here is our current profile:

As of this morning, we have  21,260 posts and 1,265,722 comments. We have also continued our steady rise on Twitter and currently show roughly 486,000 followers.  We have roughly 11,100 people who follow us on WordPress and 7,400 by direct emails (which you can subscribe to with the box on the right side of the blog home page).

In the last month, our ten biggest international sources for readers came from:

  1. United States
  2. Canada
  3. United Kingdom
  4. Australia
  5. Germany
  6. Unknown Region
  7. Austria
  8. France
  9. Netherlands
  10. New Zealand

The top five posts in terms of readership in the last month were:

  1. Alito: I Know Who Likely Leaked the Dobbs Decision
  2. Michigan Students Sue After Being Forced to Remove “Let’s Go Brandon” Sweatshirts
  3. The Immunity Option: How Congress Could Have the Final Say on the Russian Collusion Scandal

  1. Bravo, Professor Turley! Your catchy, clever headlines, combined with your succinct, fair-minded, gentlemanly narrative, always have me coming back for more. I also appreciate your consistently reporting the facts & leaving out the emotion & Left or Right hyperbole. What a pleasure!

  2. FYI:

Kind of sad to see this one go (Family Ties), but it’s a sign of the Times.

    1. Well done and many thanks to all who help with the upkeep and excellence of Professor Turley’s “sandbox”!

  3. Professor Turley, Congratulations on the milestone! To take the blog to the next level in terms of improving the quality and civility of the discussions, I recommend that you join the discussions as a commenter from time to time. Thanks.

    1. Darren, Just wondering what happened to the harmless and funny comment from Anonymous that said “don’t hold your breath” in response to my recommendation? Why some comments are deleted and others remain is a mystery to me. Thanks.

      1. only you would be aware of your own Anonymous comments being deleted, as no body would know nor care. It just shows the depth of dishonesty of you as a troll authoring scores of comments per day as a paid troll which Darren knows all too well

  4. Jonathan: Did you see the latest episode of Jim Jordan’s dog and pony show? Last Thursday Jordan held another hearing on the alleged “weaponization” of the FBI. He brought to his three-ring circus fired FBI agents who Jordan called inaccurately “whistleblowers”. And what did the hearing reveal? Dem. Rep. Dan Goldman got two of the witnesses to admit they had had been paid by Kash Patel, a former Trump administration official and current Trump advisor. When asked whether that was appropriate Jordan shouted “They got a family! How are they supposed to feed their family?” The Dems on the Judiciary Committee also complained that Jordan violated House rules by not sharing the witnesses’ interviews with the Dems ahead of hearing. Jordan ignored that important point.

Jordan is on a wild goose chase to try to show a “weaponization” of the FBI to silence conservatives–all part of the GOP call to defund the FBI. Blame the FBI and DOJ for going after Donald Trump–who keeps posting on Truth Social that it’s the biggest “witch hunt” in American history.

Jordan is on a fool’s errand. As a loyal Trump supporter Jordan thinks he can dig up dirt on the FBI/DOJ to aid Trump’s campaign next year. So far Jordan has come up empty handed. Besides, the NY state criminal cases against Trump were not initiated by the FBI. Neither is the Fani Willis state investigation in Fulton County. Can’t blame the FBI when Willis brings down the hammer on Trump later this summer!

    1. Are you nuts? The article was about his website reaching a new milestone. Do you have any idea about how pathetically creepy you are?

      1. Thersites: Yeah, that’s what my wife tells me all the time–“You’re nuts!” But she says it in a loving way. Looking at your alias I assume you fashion yourself as a modern day Greek warrior at Troy known as a carping critic–slain by Achilles for mocking him. And, yes, I am a carping critic of Prof. Turley and bring up topics he doesn’t want to discuss. But that’s my prerogative on blog. In case you didn’t notice–it’s a “free speech” forum. But you–you are apparently a court supplicant who fawns over Turley’s latest milestone. I think you ought to change your moniker because you don’t deserve that name. Either change it or use your real name. But that might prompt your wife (if you are married) to also call you “nuts” for spending so much time on this blog. Now we wouldn’t want that–would we?

        1. A smelly wino picking his nose and eating it on a subway train is also engaged in constitutionally-protected free expression. That doesn’t make it appropriate or right.

          You really need a life.

        2. It is absolutely your perogative to be stupid.

But read your own comments – your post is entirely your guesses about your mind reading of others.

I would also ask if you do not respect Turley – why are you here ?
I do not agree with everything he says, but I respect his views. I want to hear what he has to say – even when I do not agree.
I that were not true I would go elsewhere.

To be clear I am not trying to drive you away. I would like JT.org to attract more intelligent left wing posters – but it hasn’t and you certainly are not one – though there are worse.

Regardless, your welcome to be here. And your poor arguments are actually better than none, I want diverse viewpoints well argued.
But I have to settle for those like you.

But I can not understand why You are here.
You do not respect Turley. You are constantly angry about what he writes. You seem to more than just disagree you increasingly seem to hate him.
You certainly do not place any value in what he writes.

If Turley’s posts are so bad in your view – why not go somewhere that will echo your own views – there are plenty of such places.

Again – this is not a request.
I am just trying to understand you.
Unlike you – I am not trying to pretend I can read your mind.
I am asking you to explain your thoughts, your motives, your intentions.

  5. This form is no working. I enter my website and it refuses to accept the address-sbinsider.org When I delete the URL it works-

  7. We need to publicly thank the DNC Media Matters trolls who provide many of us unfettered humor, an unending source of delight and laughter that can only be best expressed by Monty Python’s glorious Biggus Dickus skit. Here’s to you, our beloved trolls.

Thanks Professor Turley for letting us play in your sandbox
