Senate Democrats Call for Vote on Repeal of DADT

According to Huffington Post, Democrats in the Senate are demanding that a vote be taken later today on a bill that would allow gays and lesbians to serve openly in the military. If approved, the procedural vote could pave the way for future debate on the subject.

Anne Flaherty, author of the post, wrote that the vote “would be a strong indication of whether Republicans have dropped their objections to overturning ‘don’t ask, don’t tell,’ after a Pentagon study found it could be done without hurting military effectiveness.”
