We are “double dippers” who celebrate Passover and Easter. Growing up in a Jewish neighborhood of Chicago, it was probably inevitable that I would marry the best Jewish cook that I have ever known. For the seder, Leslie rendered a chicken and made Matzo ball soup that was “like buttah.” She also made brisket, Apple Kugel, and latkes. Leslie also made her great Grandma Dot’s famous Sponge Cake and chocolate-covered Matzo. It was divine.
We will celebrate Easter tonight with my family’s traditional lamb, saffron rice, and other dishes. We have an Easter Egg cake, a carrot cake, and other desserts to go with the horn-o-plenty left by the bunny.
Best wishes to everyone today and I hope that you can spend time with your friends and loved ones.
Happy Easter and Passover!
