Opponents of the law are pushing for a repeal on the March 24 ballot. The law itself passed by a slim 4-3 margin.
The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force insists that 108 cities and counties nationwide have similar transgender protections and attempts to repeal one law in Montgomery County, Maryland. This repeal effort in Florida, however, have gathered 6,000 signature.
Computer programmer Clare Holman, who was born became a female as an adult, insists “I don’t want to run afoul of the law by using the wrong restroom.” Running afoul of a bathroom rule has been a problem in other university towns. Gender neutral bathrooms caused chaos at Manchester University last year. The issue of transgender use of bathrooms has also led to litigation.
