Lunar Water: Now Available in Three Distinct Flavors

It appears that Earth is not the only place you can find different flavors of water. Scientists have found that the Moon has three flavors to choose from, including the acquired taste option of water with organic molecule diacetylene (H2C4).


After the LCROSS mission, scientists have found 40 craters with as much as 600 million tons of lunar ice. They have found three different types of moon water.

One layer included water with sulfur dioxide (SO2), methanol (CH3OH), and the curious organic molecule diacetylene (H2C4).
