The kids did something different this year by going the non-threatening route without traps. Instead, Madie made an elaborate home for the leprechauns with furniture and even a swimming pool with real beer mugs. (The little darlings however still found my beer reserve and left empty bottles in the wake of their visit). They left our traditional dollar coins hanging from a tree in green felt pouches for each of the kids in the backyard (no small feat given the snow last night!). They also left Madie little figurines to live in her house and a treasure hunt with clues on three-lead clovers around the house. The treasure was a collection of clover cookies and green cupcakes.
Tonight we will be feasting on corned beef and cabbage and toasting my late Irish father, Jack Turley.
Best wishes to the Turley clan in Ireland, particularly in the counties Armaugh and Down. We are thinking of visiting Ireland this summer so we may soon be able to visit the little Leprechaun darlings on their home turf!
And to everyone . . . Erin go Bragh!!!
