In her book “What Happened,” Clinton described the hate that she encountered from Trump supporters: “Crowds at Trump rallies called for my imprisonment more times than I can count . . . They shouted, ‘Guilty! Guilty!’ like the religious zealots in ‘Game of Thrones’ chanting ‘Shame! Shame!’ while Cersei Lannister walked back to the Red Keep.” Clinton was referring to a scene where Cersei was forced to walk completely naked through the streets by the High Sparrow as a “walk of atonement.”
Notably, Clinton is even sporting a hair style that is almost Cersei-esque. The problem is that David Brock makes a poor version of Gregor Clegane.
There is another unfortunate analogy. For all of Cersei’s guile and dishonesty, she did nothing but bring ruin to her house and kill members of her own family. The matriarch of House Tyrell, the Queen of Thorns, explains that, for all of her conniving, she delivered her house to disaster to the delight of her enemies:
“The High Sparrow rules this city because of you. Our two ancient houses face collapse because of you and your stupidity. I wonder if you’re the worst person I’ve ever met. At a certain age it’s hard to recall, but the truly vile do stand out through the years … The people despise you, you’re surrounded by enemies, thousands of them, are you going to kill them all by yourself? You’ve lost, Cersei. It’s the only joy I can find in this misery.”
Given the first year of the Trump Administration, many Democrats clearly feel the same way about Clinton in openly calling for her to fade away.
