The officer was station chief last fall when the rapes allegedly occurred. Both women are Algerian citizens who came forward with their stories to American officials.
A search reportedly also found date rape drugs in the home as well as a dozen tapes.
This will likely trigger a demand from Algeria for the man to be turned over for prosecution, an unlikely prospect. Putting aside the diplomatic issues, it is pretty clear that the U.S. government does want a guy with a head full of classified information locked in a cellblock of a foreign country.
