Florida Man Insists on Being Able to Drink Shoplifted Beer Before Paying Debt to Society

There is a certain logic to the position of George R. Linthicum II, who was arrested after shoplifting beer from a Florida convenience store. If he was going to go to jail, he insisted that the police at least allow him to drink one of the beers.

Linthicum is charged Wednesday with shoplifting, battery, possession of marijuana not more than 20 grams and smuggling contraband into a detention facility.

It appears that incarceration is not treated as payment for the beer in Florida.
