TSA Agent Arrested After Allegedly Stealing Money From Disabled Person at Checkpoint

Leroy Ray, a Transportation Security Administration agent at Newark Airport, has been arrested in a particularly nasty alleged crime: stealing money from a handicapped person at a security checkpoint.

The woman passed through the security checkpoint and then checked her purse — only to find $400 missing on February 3, 2010. She had $300 in cash in a white envelope and $195 in a zippered pocket. When she complained, the TSA looked at the security tape and reportedly saw Ray snatch the money.

Notably, 23 security officers have been “removed/terminated for theft from the check point or checked baggage” since 2007. Ray, 45, is an eight-year veteran of the TSA.
