Grandfather Arrested For Allegedly Smuggling Drugs To Grandson in Jail

Previously, we saw a mother who was arrested smuggling drugs into a prison. Now we have Richard Heritz, 85, who was arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle marijuana into jail for his grandson.

As with the earlier case, police were given a tip of the alleged plan to smuggle the drugs. His grandson is incarcerated for burglary. Now his grandfather has a nearby cell after being found in possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana. The possible sentence is hefty — seven years if convicted of attempting to convey drugs at a detention facility and possessing criminal tools. He now faces up to 7 years in jail and a fine of up to $15,000.

If his grandson knew about this, it was lethal mistake. That could be a life sentence for an eighty-five-year-old man.
