Jewish Women: Step Aside For Men

In the Hasidic neighborhood of South Williamsburg in Brooklyn, New York, persons unknown has been putting up signs in Yiddish that translate to: “Precious Jewish daughter, please move to the side when a man approaches.” City workers have removed the signs, not based on the message but because it’s illegal to affix signs on street trees.

It is apparently standard practice in Hasidic communities that women step aside when a man is approaching from the opposites direction. The signs are a crackdown on rebellious behavior by women.

Some have complained that their free speech rights are being taken away when the plastic signs were unbolted from the trees. I’m sure the ACLU is looking into the matter. Similar signs have been seen in other Hasidic strongholds in the New York area.

Control of women is a common aspect of orthodox Abrahamic religions. Without women to produce children, there will be no new generation to be indoctrinated in the sect’s orthodoxy, and the sect will disappear. If women are allowed to procreate with whomever they choose, the children will be lost to the influence of the sect.

From Numbers:

25:6 And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

25:7 And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand;

25:8 And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.

God is so pleased by Phinehas’ act that “the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.” The Midianites are thought to have worshipped a multitude of gods, including Baal. Belief in God is preserved by killing non-believers and those who associate with them. The first Commandment is to believe in God and not to believe in other gods. It is the belief in God that is the primary goal, exactly what you’d need to maintain a religion. A  religion’s first priority is to preserve itself.
