China has continued its assault on free speech with the sentencing of human rights dissident jails dissident Chen Xi for 10 years. This week, another human rights advocate, Chen Wei, was sentenced to nine years.

The crime was simply advocating democratic reforms in online essays. Chen Xi, 57, was accused of more than 30 political essays and detained since November 29th. His Guizhou Human Rights Forum was declared an illegal organization.
