Five police officers and one sergeant with the Kendall district were nailed in the investigation. Officer Dario Socarras was a stand out. He allegedly ignored a residential burglary call in order to meet a woman in a parking lot and proceed to kiss and hug her. He was the same officer who was dispatched to help the baby but instead was seen drinking coffee with another officer and Sergeant Jennifer Gonzalez. He later ignored a call about a suspicious vehicle.
Socarras was also accused of doctoring reports to falsely claim that he responded to the calls. He has now been fired as has Gonzalez.
By the way, in Chicago, police will no longer respond to most burglary calls due to budget limitations. Thus, we will continue to send billions abroad to support wars and countries like Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, and Israel. However, we will have to hunker down in our homes without police support in burglaries. Chicago will only respond if the felon is still in your home . . . and you can still dial.
