A booth at Funway Amusements captured photos of the suspect who pried open the machine’s cash drawer and stole $75 in cash and caused $75 worth of damage. The problem is that his prying of the machine triggered the photo taking mechanism. What is most interesting is that it appears that the machine is designed to do precisely that. If it senses tampering, it uses its primary function as its primary defense. It takes your picture.
The police issued the following statement:
On November 25, 2015 the above Offender entered a photo booth at Funway Amusements in Batavia where he pried open the cash drawer and took approx. $75.00 in cash and causing approximately $75.00 in damage.
The machine is designed to take photographs when it senses tampering to the cash drawer. The report was delayed until the owner could get a repairman to pull the offenders images from the machine.
Anyone who recognizes the Offender is asked to contact the Batavia Police Department Investigations Division, 630-454-2500.
