Once again, no one can figure out what is achieved by such a tweet but it continues to unnerve Republicans who saw positive news this week, again, pushed off the front pages by the latest tweet storm. What was achieved was another round of bad press and mocking over saying two people are not “bad people” while calling them “Crazy” and “dumb.” It is the lack of any discernible purpose or logic behind the tweets that has unnerved Republicans and thrilled Democrats.
In the meantime, reports have surfaced of rising tension between the Trump and Pence staff members over the continuing controversies and their impact on achieving real reform. Pence is getting an ear full from his former colleagues about the constant self-inflicted wounds in the White House. These tweets cause spasms of coverage and recriminations while GOP leaders are trying to stitch together coalitions. There is rising concern that there could be a massacre in the mid-term elections — meaning that any real reforms need to be passed in the next year. However, each of these insulting tweets slows down the process and undermines the efforts to win over moderate Republicans.
