As spokesperson for Roy Moore, Janey Porter may have hit on a brilliant strategy to distract people from the bizarre statements of your candidates . . . make even more bizarre statements. Porter was on CNN this week when she told pregnant anchor Poppy Harlow that Moore’s opponent Doug Jones basically wanted to kill her eight-month old unborn baby. Now there’s a catchy campaign slogan: Vote Moore Or Jones Will Kill Your Baby.
She also shocked many by calling all of the women accusing Moore “criminals.” That’s right, criminals for alleging sexual assault or molestation.
In the video below, Porter tells Harlow “It’s great to be with you. And, by the way, congratulations on your unborn child. That‘s the reason why I came down, as a volunteer, to speak for Judge Roy Moore, because he’ll stand for the rights of babies like yours in the womb. Where his opponent will support killing them up until the moment of birth.”
Harlow responded “Janet, thank you for being with us, and I appreciate the congratulations on our son on the way.”
However, Porter seemed intent in getting back to Harlow’s unborn son. She again raised the baby, but the host was clearly done with the references and said “Let’s leave my child out of this.”
One of the more memorable lines was Porter’s response to the many women accusing Moore. Porter insisted “We need to make it clear that there’s a group of non-accusers that have not accused the judge of any sexual misconduct or anything illegal.” True, there are a lot of women who do not claim to have been victimized by Jones. However, that is like saying that it is wrong to focus on the people Ponzi defrauded when there were so many people he never got around to defrauding. Either you find the allegations credible (as I do) or you do not. Whatever the “group of nonaccusers that have not accused the judge” may be, it is not particularly compelling as a retort to the various allegations facing Moore.
