Holy Nuisance: Houston Residents Upset with Free Qurans Left on Doorsteps

Houston residents are up in arms after receiving free Qurans from the Book of Signs Foundation. While free bibles are routinely left at homes and businesses, residents found the Quran to be outrageous. The campaign was an effort of Muslims to help people get a better understanding of them and their religion.

The Foundation has distributed 30,000 free copies of the texts to residents in Houston. One resident appeared typical of the outrage: “If we went into a Muslim country and left a Bible, we would be in prison and then decapitated a few years later,” said Sue Ann Pieri. Hmmmm. Of course, Ms. Pieri is not living in such a country. She is living in a country that prides itself on tolerance and pluralism.

Various Christian groups hand out free bibles without a peep of opposition, like the Bibles for America project.

This is not the first time that free Qurans have been viewed as an insult (while free bibles are welcomed), click here.
