Latest Biblical Beast Sighting: GOP Mayor Says that It Remains Unclear Whether Obama is the Anti-Christ

Republican politicians continue to explore the possibility that Barack Obama is the Anti-Christ. Recently, a Republican County Chairperson suggested that he was indeed the biblical beast foretold in the Book of Revelation. Now, Fort Mill, S.C. Mayor Danny Funderburk admits that he sent out an e-mail warning about the possibility, but insists that he was “just curious” about gathering evidence on the question. In the meantime, John McCain remains silent on allegations (first raised on this blog) that he is indeed the Aztec Demon God Itzcoliuhqui.

Funderburk insists that he was merely acting responsibly in seeking the facts on the possibility that Obama is the AntiChrist: “I was just curious if there was any validity to it. I was trying to get documentation if there was any scripture to back it up.”

He was most interested in the fact that Bible predicts that the AntiChrist would be someone of Muslim background and in his 40s. Not only does the bible not say anything of the sort (despite Funderburk’s professed religiosity), but Islam did not exist when Revelation was written.

Funderburk campaigns on his “new perspective” and features a bible prominently on his website.

Yet, when asked if he believed whether Obama is the AntiChrist, Funderburk still reserved judgment:
“I’ve got absolutely no way of knowing that.” He simply added: “I am curious about current events and their connection to the Bible.”

I am curious how a complete lunatic becomes a mayor in America.
