New Yorker Sues Over Alleged Racial Profiling Resulting in 21 Searches While Using the Subway

Jangir Sultan, 32 has sued the city of New York after he was allegedly searched 21 times in the subway because of this Middle Eastern appearance. He is actually a New York native of Kashmiri descent.

The occupational therapist alleges that the racial profiling began after the New York Police Department implemented a search program in response to bombings in London in 2005.

Sultan says that, after the 13th search, Sultan started filing complaints with the Civilian Complaint Review Board to document the insistences. He also wrote to the Mayor’s Office, to Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly and to senators, representatives and City Council.
