
Some of the restaurants had actual red snapper specials but were serving a cheaper fish to customers.
They sent the samples to the Guy Harvey Research Institute at Nova Southeastern University in Florida, which found that they were counterfeit fish.
This included a sushi restaurant which promised red snapper but served the cheaper tilapia. It seems particularly bold to serve a counterfeit fish in raw form, but the NBC station found that such substitutions are a common practice among restaurants.
My greatest concern is the close similarity found between pate with dog food.
