Ohio Police Officer Holds Knife to Neck of Girlfriend and Kicks Her in the Stomach — Gets a $150 Fine and an Anger Management Class

A Willard police officer Joshua Dorsey, 28, received what is being criticized as a remarkably light sentence after allegedly pressing a knife to the chin or neck of his girlfriend and kicking her in the stomach. He was ordered to undergo anger management and fined $150.

We have had cases where expelling gas or hugging an officer can get you charged with assault, here and here. Police has even arrested people for giving boyfriends unwarnted hugs, here. Pressing a knife to someone’s chin and assaulting them seems a bit more serious. The prosecutors need to explain the low level of punishment. Otherwise, the impression is a certain thin [black and] blue line at work.
