Greenfield is now charged with sexual child abuse and harboring a fugitive. What is fascinating about the case is that, while the age of consent in Maryland is 16, it is a crime for an adult to have sex with a minor who is in the adult’s custody or care. Because she was a counselor, she will face a sex offender charge where any other person would only face a harboring charge.
Greenfield works for a private contractor as part of the New Directions program. The program took 10-12 youths to a movie and the youth ran off while they were in the parking lot. Greenfield was allegedly waiting for him in a car nearby. While she later drove him to a relative’s home, he made a call using her cellphone — which ultimately led the police to her doorstep.
