Now Everyone Shift To Your Right: Millions of Muslim Indonesians Discover That They Have Been Praying Toward Africa

Millions of Muslims in Indonesia have been praying to Africa, but not by choice. The Indonesian Ulema Council had Muslims praying West to what they thought was the Kaaba in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. It turns out that Mecca is Northwest.

Rather than tear down mosques built for worship to the West, elders are asking everyone to shift slightly in prayer toward Northwest: “After the first fatwa (edict) a few months ago that stated that the praying direction is west, we have announced that the correct direction for praying is indeed northwest, and we have issued a new fatwa (edict) to correct it.”
